Suited for winter, cozy but dark cocoa, boozy, powder. That's the short summary. This perfume is addictive... It has cooling hits, meaning the moment you start to feel warm, something airs the scent out. It's never cloyingly sweet, it's balanced. Its chocolate is the dark, minty, good quality kind. My favorite part turned out to be the powder, a thick, buttery, "I'm right here" kind of quality powder. You can also pick up coffee and a slightly earthy vetiver that give the scent its dark vibe. Rum gets overdone in some scents, here it's in balance, it passes on the hot-boozy feel but doesn't go beyond it. When I checked the notes, I concluded that the cooling feel comes from eucalyptus. In my head this scent got linked to sitting in a library in a dark-cozy atmosphere, buried in books, drinking something warm. Tag(s): buttery iris, cocoa, boozy, cozy, dark academia

Bitter cocoa, earthy and dusty iris. This is not your sweet and powdery combo, it is harsh and could take time to get used to. Definitely not a crowd pleaser but a fragrance for those who want the feeling of bitter and natural cocoa (not chocolate) mixed with bitter citruses and dry iris. If you want the sweet version of this, go for the extrait.

Much like the original 502, the first few minutes after spraying are a little challenging on the skin as it opens with a bitter citrus and an unsweetened cocoa but thankfully, these notes soften significantly as it dries. The iris note is slightly arid, but if you can wait until the full dry down, you’ll be rewarded with an unctuous and velvety cocoa cloud warmed with rum and the sharper edges made smooth with sandalwood. This release brings a lovely festive dimension with the citrus addition to the original formula but without rendering too much of a departure that would compel one to own both versions unless of course you adore the original. With both this release and the original 502 Iris Cartagena, patience really is key as they both develop into something quite beautiful. I misjudged the original fragrance on first appearance but the heart notes for both perfumes are wonderful and worth the investment. Moderate projection, moderate sillage but longevity is very good on the skin.
