601 vetiver, cedar, bergamot

I recently decided to try a couple of Bon Parfumeur offerings after the YouTube community has been discovering this house with more and more videos available. I was also in Paris for Easter with the idea of going to what I think is their only store, but with two children aged 2 and 8, it was impossible. So I ordered online based on my taste in notes. This 601 on paper was nothing more than something in the style of TDH and that's exactly what it is. Very close. Terre d'Hermes has always been a signature scent for me and I've loved it for many years (EDT). Here, the notes may be less pungent, but it's absolutely delicious and I don't share the overall rating I see. It's also worth noting the beauty of the simple and minimalist packaging. The price is absolutely perfect for a niche perfume and I also like the idea of not giving specific names to the fragrances.

The original intention of mine was to buy a cedarwood - vetiver combination to add some missing notes to my existing sweet perfumes, that is 1.) and 2.) I love vetiver and cedar themselves. And yes, this is the slightly sweet cedar with hay-earthy note of the vetiver + zesty fresh, but somehow dark bergamot with piquant peppers. Easily worn on its own, and of course, open to a new layering combinations. Very good quality, a blind buy. And I am telling this as an experienced nose 😉😁

This smells so incredibly good! It is similar to Terre d'Hermès. So woody, so vetiver. Edit: after having used it again after a while and having smelt other vetivers by Guerlain and Hermès I realised its own special quality: there's something in it, maybe "violet leaf", that rounds sharper vetiver a little down and what a fantastic combination this is! The woody vetiver in it is so good that I got goosebumps! For me, this is better than TdH.

" for sure like TDHermes but.. this thing way more natural , more depth, more 3d, wow great job

I tried this in July and thought it was just okay. I found it herbaceous and interesting but not quite fresh enough to be what I was looking for on a swelteringly hot day. Now in September I tried it again and I just want to bathe in it! It's green, spicy, and unisex and uplifts my mood as I get whiffs of it throughout the day.

love LOVE this fragrance and i’ll wear it any day, any time, any season. when i’m reaching for something a little more unisex/masculine this is always my first thought. it’s woody and fresh, with hints of petrichor and pepper and smells bright and intense. i love Bon Parfumeur with all my heart.

Lovely flowery and powdery opening that lingers. The Vetiver is soft and grassy. Not pungent. The cedar is rich and realistic and that base note carries for 6-8 hours. Fairly intimate but noticed. Rich and well liked by all. First by this house that I’d want to own.

good pick from the house, nothing outstanding here, pretty normal woody, vetiver and violety scent with a quality composition. However, this is my 3rd fragrance from the house and i noticed that their fragrance needs maceration.

Woods and vetiver is prominent here. The vetiver is smooth and super wearable. A strong like for me. Its a linear scent. But still super enjoyable. Plus side is you wont be breaking the bank on this awesome brand.

Really nice fruity fragrance for a guy

If “let me copy your homework, but I’ll change it up a bit to make it look different” was a fragrance. Opens with a blast of citric, rindy bergamot and sharp pink pepper with an overdose of earthy, woody vetiver. Then as it dries, the earthy vetiver begins to take over as creamy sandalwood and violet smooth it out and provide a nice ever so slight dry sweetness. This is very much bon parfumer’s take on “Terre D’Hermes”, and while I prefer the Hermes, this is much easier to wear and understand for new noses to the hobby in my opinion. The “dirty”/earthiness of the TDH is smoothed out with sandalwood and violet, and the orange note was replaced with bergamot. A very nice offering, but fairly redundant if you already have TDH. Would make for a good, cheaper gift to an older man who’s not really into fragrances as it’s super versatile and office safe. Mediocre longevity and projection off me, but you get what you pay for so no complaints from me. 7.5/10. Song vibe - Don’t Bring Me Down by Electric Light Orchestra TLDR - Slightly different, easier to understand, and smoothed out take on “Terre D’Hermes.” A very solid and safe woody fragrance that leans a bit mature, but a good stepping stone into woody fragrances.

601 vetiver, cedar, bergamot by Bon Parfumeur is a dry, woody, spicy perfume. opens with a sharp bitter citrus—grapefruit and bergamot—with a spicy kick of pink pepper. what follows is a clean, dry vetiver that blends smoothly with cedar and sandalwood. it's minimal, earthy, and leans masculine. projection is soft to moderate, performance around 4–5 hours. best for summer days, office wear, or anyone who loves crisp, wood-forward scents without sweetness. simple, clean, and direct. rating: 3/5

To my nose this is a typical woodsy men's fragrance. Woodsy and spicy dry down with a hint of freshness/citrus. Overall ok scent.

I'm testing the Bon Perfumer discovery set of 23 fragrances blind. I haven't looked up anything about the brand or the fragrances. I'm working through the cute little bottles in their numbered order. 601 comes on woody with a sage-like greenness. Gives a medium deep forest vibe, or if you go to a premium wood supply store, pretty much that. There's enough variance it isn't monotone, but it isn't complex layering of woods with other greenery. It smells like some of the mainstream woodsy fragrances but without the mainstream fragrance cleaner vibe and just generally more pleasant. Sillage was moderate for less than an hour, but retained itself at an intimate level for 6ish hours. Looking at the notes now, I didn't recognize the pepper notes but they're there. The bergamot and grapefruit explain some of the "green" or fresher elements, but there is no identifiable scent of either. The violet also might bend the woods, but there's no violet violet. It's mostly the base notes, cedar and sandalwood. Given the wood tone it leans masculine. Probably my favorite woodsy fragrance so far, simply because its pleasant and not overdoing it. Do wish it would last longer at a more moderate sillage. (1/3/23 Edit) Its been a few months so revisiting some from a while back. I haven't gotten to mixing this series yet, which in part I think is the point, but generally less impressed with this now, still pleasant but relatively still pretty monotone.

If you're looking for a true vetiver perfume, this is so not it. The dry down smells just woody, like a mixture of cedar and maybe a tad of cashmere wood. It's also very dry, no sweetness here. It reminds me of things like Terre Eau Intense Vetiver, or Duro. Not for me.

A bit funky on first spray, but quickly dried down to something more subtle and herbaceous. More feminine than indicated, but definitely still unisex. Not my favourite, nor a particularly good scent for warm weather, but still an interesting addition to my collection.

Vetiver, cedar and pepper dominant scent with sandalwood in the dry down. Natural profile, has a spa like quality. Might make a good layering scent, especially at current 30 ml prices, $48.

A piney, masculine scent with a touch of spicy pepper - not too heavy but definitely a traditional mens fragrance to me.

starts off pleasant and then turns into a grandma smell

Sadly, no. I truly wanted this to be a bright, uplifting, clean scent for summer mornings, but I must agree with the comments that associate this with grandmothers - like bathroom potpourri, or the talcum powder my Dad would get for Christmas in the 1908s. There's nothing fresh or masculine about it. The ingredients are high quality, but the character is old-fashioned and distinctly feminine.

Somehow manages to be a boring, generic "masculine" scent while also achieving a grandma's knicker drawer vibe. Not for me.

Not what I expected. Yes it is fresh, yes it is woody, yes it is green. But it goes to a medicinal/herbal and slightly dark green path for my nose. Probably it has some patchouli somewhere because I don't appreciate patchouli and I associate that herbal dark greenness to the patchouli note. Im on the hunt for the perfect summer fragrance since I don't like the typical summer citrus/aquatic/salty blue perfumes. I feel I might be lucky with Bon Parfumeur, 601 was a close one :)

I'm always confused when people compare fragrance to grandma smell. 1) How often do you spend time with your grandma or grandmas in general? 2) How close are you in proximity to any grandma that you can sniff her? 3) If you're close enough to be able to sniff them, why do they let you?

This was a gift. A simple fresh woody scent. Pleasant to smell but nothing spectacular. 4/10
