602 pepper, cedar, patchouli

#1558 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant, popped it open and my first reaction was, "Wow! That's a refreshing scent!" My second from Bon Parfumeur, and another winner. Neroli, patchouli, vetiver. Really hard to go astray with that combination, and tossing in some pepper, incense and wood, this is really nice stuff with good initial sillage (1 hour), okay longevity (you'd respray midday). Versatile for any wear: casual, office, date night. Certain to draw positive attention. This scent is pricey from several sources, so shop around. Some sellers have it priced like similar smelling scents BDK "Villa Neroli", Xerjoff "Nio", Amouage "Reflection Man." Some are priced less. If like me you've learned to be stingy with your scent dollars in a world of ever-improving clones, Killer Oud "Revolution" is intended to be an Amouage "Reflection Man" clone, but it's actually closer to this Bon Parfumeur in scent, and you can find it for under $35. Khadlaj "Shiyaaka" is also similar for around $35. As it happens I have all these scents already, so while this Bon Parfumeur goes on the list, the priority will be low for me. But if I were choosing between this and any of the above similar scents and price was not a consideration, this would be my first choice, despite mediocre performance. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

Some of the Bon Parfumeurs are a bit slipshod, or a bit syntheticky, or a little unimpressive to my nose - maybe because they're meant to be layered. But this one is a personal love for me, and one of the few which really stands up fine on its own as a scent in itself, and has a really distinctive character. A warm, welcoming, dry, almost classy-seeming mid-spicy, perfectly unisex, free of any sharp or overbearing men's-cologne overtones or any cloying sweetness. I also don't think the pyramid shown here is correct, because to me the overwhelming spice in the middle of the mix is neither black peppercorns nor capsicum-chili-pepper, but the very different, rounder, gentler burn of Jamaican pimento, aka allspice berries. Just as aromatic but a very different flavour - mild, deep, complex, woody, smell, not just a big poke of heat. This is the smell of a good spice rub in a hot sauna. Like it a whole lot.

This is a very well balanced and blended perfume. Beautiful! It could be unisex, however it is bordering on the more masculine side. Highly recommended, and great price point VS quality. You may spend a lot more on something that you end up disliking or convincing yourself its good because of the price. Obviuosly try it first, but I would stand and say get this as a general day to day fragrance and you wont be dissapointed.

update: just wore to gym reminds me of a nicer modern twist on Lacoste original old green bottle, those ingredients giving off a Pine smell but super nice not brash:: wow got aqua di gio parfumo at open then amazingly real cedar , light airy peper/incense.. bay leaf pamento benzoine keeping it slightly moist, really nice.. now getting that bay rum type of smell love this baby.

One of my favourite from this brand. Tart, peppery, fresh in a woody way. Good for layering if you want something on the top, to which the brand encourages. Wear it when I want to project confidence and “being different”, as it’s quite an original fragrance. I don’t remember anything like it, which I really like about Bon Parfumeur: they’re original.

The prior review said it all. 602 is wonderful in every way. I love it, especially on cool days here in Midwestern America. My favorite fragrance by this house so far.

Sampling Bon Parfumeur 602 Pepper Cedar Patchouli, a fittingly spicy and woody blend with dominant pepper and cedar especially with a more measured use of patchouli, along with some added accords of chili, vetiver, neroli, and incense. It’s a little heady but overall feels pretty well-rounded and workable for most of the seasons, except perhaps the dead heat of summer, but given its liberal use of black/chili pepper, it’s in my wheelhouse, as I love the rich, savory aspect that pepper gives fragrances like this. The fragrance definitely takes on more of a resinous quality as it dries down, and I like that its complexity is revealed more over time this way as well. A very nice entry. 602 is EDP concentration, sold by boutiques like Ministry of Scent and with retailing pricing equaling the other perfumes that I’ve tried in the line: $107/53/34 for 100/30/15ml. 7 out of 10

I love the Poivre Samarcande, a fragrance from the Hermes exclusive line (Hermessence). The scent of that fragrance to me is 10/10 and a perfection in perfumery from a great perfumer Jean Claude Elena. But it's very expensive and unfortunately very weak. I have been looking for an alternative and found this one. It's not completely similar but it has a very similar scent profile and a great alternative for that with a much lower price. It's a good fragrance if you like woody spicy fragrance, I would highly recommend this one. 7/10

It's unique. Yes, it might hint into CdG's Kyoto, but it's really different. What I get mostly is black pepper, a gentle smokey incense, and a green/fresh bay leaf. I tried most of the BP, and 602 is my favourite alongside the tobacco one. Longevity(on clothes) is excellent(MUCH BETTER than any CdG) Projection is moderate.

I get the pepper and the cedar easily and they work together wonderfully. Definite incense vibes. The base ruins it for me a little, though, more assertive and the near-fougere profile reminds me of a million other perfumes that smell "perfumey." Amazing until that dry-down, though.

Good not great. Very pleasant but hard to find. The patchouli is mild and if one wanted that note in a non offensive fragrance this could be the one. Very long lasting for me but I always had to go looking for it.

i wear it when i want something not too heavy. it's pretty weak on me, i can smell it for the first hour but not much after. very refreshing, to me it's ideal in spring.

This is a strong, clear pine to me with a touch of spicy black pepper. I think this would make a good room scent as well as wearing on the skin!

Bought this blind based on reviews. It's ok. It reminds me of Loewe 7 - that dry spice. The incense is very restrained. There is ZERO patchouli. (By the way, if you want patchouli in a modern amber/oriental scent profile, try Adeeb - it'll knock your socks off. ) It's basically wood and pepper, a relatively traditional masculine scent profile. Performance is very poor. Look at the scores above - about 33% think it has weak or very weak longevity, and about 40% find that it has no real sillage. Yup. Shockingly bad performance. Buy the Loewe. Spectacularly better performance in a similar scent profile. Ultimately, this is just a waste of money.

Super masc! I swear there is a marine accord in here. The dry down smells pretty identical to Bulgari's Aqva Pour Homme. I bought this for me, but my husband ended up wearing it. He likes it and is more of a fresh scent type guy. The bay leaf-cedar combination is very forward and the other notes are a faint supporting cast I really have to get my nose into. Medium to strong projection. Going to wash it off, so no intel on longevity but it seems like it would stick around a long time based on how strong it's starting off.

A milky cedar scent, with some pepper and incense. Clean and soft. Somehow I smelled something soapy and sour. Overall it's nice, just not my cup of tea.

I can not describe it in words because it's literally non existent within 10 minutes, light peppery , that is it.

I'm testing the Bon Perfumer discovery set of 23 fragrances blind. I haven't looked up anything about the brand or the fragrances. I'm working through the cute little bottles in their numbered order. 602 opens with tomatoes and a bit of pine. More specifically tomato paste. Dense, concentrated, and present. There's some other notes floating on top, but tomato paste dominates the nose. I opened up the tube of tomato paste I have and from an arms length, categorically almost the same (the tomato paste itself was deeper, and more pizza-like). Later the paste side relaxed a bit, turning more into a vine-ripe tomato, but still very tomato, like a light tomato soup. As the day moves on the pine resurfaces. Looking at the notes now, um... a little surprised there's no tomato, but the bay leaf, pimento, and black pepper explain the whole tomato paste vibe. The woods and incense might add something, but don't expect anything classically woody or incense. The benzoin also doesn't appear to me in any noticeable way. It's an interesting fragrance, it doesn't lean masculine or feminine. For me it smells too much like foodstuff, so I'm generally not a fan.

602 is a very pleasant and fresh take on what I perceive to mostly be a gentle soapy clean, lightly spiced cedar. Soft, smooth, and pretty well blended. Maybe not a forest in a bottle, but I think cedar is captured faithfully in the heart. It's not pushing any olfactory boundaries or trying to appeal to hardcore, avant garde perfume diehards here. 602 does not move me to evocations, but it doesn't need to. I love cedar, spice, and incense, and this packages it up in something I'm able to wear in public while maintaining a sense of decorum. The soapy, woody, incense feel calls to mind CDG Kyoto for sure, but they are different enough to my nose, with Kyoto being more interesting, and 602 being more office and normie friendly. 602 only features a light incense in the first 30min-1hr after which most of the spice, pepper and incense burn off and I'm left with a soft cedar, with a little herbal bay leaf, soapy neroli, and another vague "freshness" note running underneath. I don't perceive any of the wet, soily, qualities of patchouli I love, and any vetiver is also subdued and not very present. The freshness here is achieved with a natural feel, with a green, herbal lift without neroli coming overtly floral. Thankfully, this all works well on my skin and doesn't turn sour. It fulfills a need for a fresh yet woody, versatile scent that can be worn year round. Longevity is good at 6-8 hours, but it stays close to skin after the first hour, which can also be a plus in office and situations where you'll be in close quarters in the public. Not every scent needs to a mega performer! Sometimes you just need a "utility" fragrance, and this could be the daily driver for lovers of cedar looking for something on the fresh, aromatic, and lightly spicy side that doesn't rely on aquatic, ambroxan, and common aromachemicals trends found in designer scents.

Yes, I totally agree, the bay leaf and incense is easily overlooked if you just read the title of the perfume, but they are two equally strong components in this perfume. Strongest is the cedar and the pepper, closely followed by the bay leaf and the incense. Don't worry about the patchouli, it's really a supporting role. I don't really notice it all that much at all to be honest. I totally get the comparison to the Loewe 7-line, perhaps closest to Anónimo ? Aromatic-fresh spicy-incensy. Not essentially fresh, but definitely has a fresh facet. I think Loewe is better, but this is also quite good. The cedar-bay leaf combination is of course strong. Bay leaf is very masculine and has a lot of character. And with pepper. I like bay leaf though. It's aromatic and an interesting note in modern perfumery. As a side recommendation for bay leaf, try Comme des Garcons Laurel if you haven't tried it yet.

There’s nothing overly dense, earthy, or spicy here – at least not on my skin. And although I usually wear unisex-to-masculine fragrances beautifully, this one... I’d happily leave to the gentlemen. Not because I don’t love it – quite the opposite. This scent is charming. It’s smooth, clean, pleasant to every nose. I picture it worn by older hipster gentlemen, the kind who know their barber’s address better than their own. You know the type: perfectly groomed beard, dotted shirt, eyes that say, "I've seen things..." This scent is their statement. A tribute to all the mischiefs they’ve done — and those yet to come. The texture? Light as a cologne, with the elegance of a good aftershave. Longevity? More than decent. The message it leaves behind? "I’m refined, not retired."

To my nose this is all about bay leaf. It's a warm, spicy, aromatic scent. The cedar, pepper, frankincense and patchouli are more on the background and give the composition depth and character. It took me a while to understand the fragrance, it felt like a woody-incense at first. I bought it after I smelled it two times in a store and decided to buy it. However, after a couple of full wearings, the bay leaf laurel note got a bit monotonous to my taste. It is a very lineair fragrance. It projects in arms length and has a medium to low longevity of about 2-3 hours on my skin. Would say its for in between and colder weather, especially fall. I would not re-buy. EDIT: I ended up giving it away.

This is a dry and clean cedar scent primarily, though it opens up with the opaque sparkle of black and pink pepper. The bay and incense keep it interesting, reminding me of the Loewe 7 line. It’s a solid year-round easy-wear for understated lumberjack energy & excellent value for the price. But mostly I came to the comments to say how much it reminds me of the Old Spice cedar deodorant “Swagger”. My partner wears that deodorant, and I love it on him. Excited to find that this is nearly the exact same scent!

Been looking for an alternative to Cdg Kyoto for years now because of its poor performance and got my hands on this for ~30$ bucks. There is something very sharp about 602 that Kyoto does not have, it feels a bit more abrasive rather than feeling like a space. Overall not bad but it does not have the smoothness that Kyoto has. Alright performance, alright sillage. Nothing spectacular but it's a great woody pepper incense- if you like that kinda thing it's solid.

The name pretty much says it all. This one smells like pepper, cedar, and patchouli. The pepper and incense hit first with a smoky vibe, and then the neroli sneaks in with this subtle soapy freshness that keeps it feeling clean. Overall, it’s a woody, fresh scent with little touches that make it kind of interesting. It’s not mind-blowing, but it’s comfortable and easy to wear.

It started nice for me. Nice enough to make me buy it after a quick initial test. Nice peppery wood. However the dry down turned SOUR on me, like really bad tea kind of sour, and it lasted and lasted and I turned more and more sour, and I ended up selling my bottle the same day as I bought it.
