Astor Place

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BONDS OF ALL TIME! Sooo sophisticated. It may actually be my favourite of all time as I own most bonds. I got a sample months ago and could not stop smelling it, now I have the deluxe size. It's a floral that kind of smells a little bit aquatic to me. The teak wood is quite strong and in usual Bond fashion, the mix of these notes is like nothing I have seen before. In my opinion it doesn't smell too much like Jadore, and I clearly love this one better even though Dior makes gorgeous scents. It may not be the most modern but it is definitely not the most "outdated" sort of scent if you will. It's extremely fresh.. and so so SO gorgeous. I can see this one worn in Greece as an effortless scent in summer with a cool breeze. I can imagine a woman that's already sexy wearing this, she doesn't need to tone the perfume up for extra appeal and is just wearing a fresh and elegant scent to balance her sexiness. I don't find this offensive at all and it's a safe purchase that will get a lot of compliments. I honestly can't comprehend the negative learning reviews below because I think it's such a masterpiece. I LOVE mandarin orange and if you do too you should give this a try.

I received my 3.3 oz bottle from an auction on e-bay for a very reasonable price and I am loving it! Definitely the genuine article. It is fresh, invigorating and lasts about 4 hours on me which is acceptable since I soak up scent. I think the notes that make it so special for me are the freesia, mandarin orange and violet leaf. Comparing to J'Adore, I notice j'Adore has 18 notes in the EDP and 11 in the EDT. A number of reviewers notice a similarity between these 2 fragrances although, I personally do not think they are that similar. They do share several notes, which are freesia, mandarin orange and violet. So they have these similarities. At this time Astor Place is in my top 10 fragrances. I will have to update my favorites in my profile.

A magnificent floral composition with a graceful violet taking center stage. On one hand, it is captivating and glamorous, like a beautiful woman dressed in elegant old-money style; on the other, it feels fresh like a sunny summer morning promising a delightful day ahead. There are no surprising or dramatic turns in its evolution. Although the fragrance softens slightly over time, it remains above all a luxurious and refined floral composition. The originality of its execution and its exceptional quality create a haute fragrance experience: sophisticated, beautifully blended, and elegant, with all-day longevity and a strong sillage. A beautiful, classic, feminine composition housed in a flacon whose very presence is a pleasure to behold.

When you 1st fall in love, whether it be romantic or the birth of a new baby, you cant think of anything else. Astor Place has captivated me in an unprecedented way. All I do is think about her. I can even hear Stevie Wonder singing the soundtrack to this. I sampled this on paper. I had no skin left from testing other fragrances. I had to double back and just squeeze this on top and next to something else. Just a couple of squirts on my arm and the sillage even when my arm is on the side of my body continues to find its way up more than a foot up to my nose to pleasure me. I MUST return to buy this unique feminine scent. I cant even describe it other than LOVE in a bottle. Im not even into florals yet she has me cuffed. That says A LOT!

the opening is screechy but as soon as it fades a bit, ure left with a warm and beautiful flowery fruity accord that is indescribable. smooth, sexy and very long lasting. as i suspected, a 10/10 edit: omg this is super duper long lasting! ive been wearing this since 8am this morning and its now at 11.45pm its still going on strong! one thing about bond no 9 is they hv good longevity with moderate projection, which suits my personality (im quite an introvert). im loving this even more now and im looking forward to try others from this brand

a fresh, handful of hand picked flowers.....drenched from the rain. id describe it exactly as that. as a guy who wears this regularly, i get a lot of comments cuz it mixes well with my body chemistry and personality. im more fun and flirty when i put this on. the sillage is awesome but beware this edp is extremely powerful. i almost cannot put it on my neck cuz it chokes me out....thats how strong it is. be careful on the application (as with most Bond's)!

Second only to High Line for my favorite Bond. I just can't help myself when it comes to freesia, and this is so well mixed and multi-dimensional it really takes the prize in all the freesias I've sniffed. Fairly well lived too, I could smell it faintly the next morning after putting it on around noon time the day before. Sillage is good, it's not a bomb, but people within a small radius of you will get just such a sniff as to appreciate it. Win!

I got a sample of J'Adore which is supposed to be so much like Astor Place. Astor Place has much more of a mandarin, violet leaf kick where J'Adore is sweet and floral. Also on me Astor Place has much more sillage and lasts 4 or 5 hours on me and J'Adore only lasts 30 minutes and then fades away. Maybe the sample is to blame. At any rate I do not find much similarity between the 2 scents. At this time Astor Place is in my top 5 fragrances.

This is my favorite scent. When I wear this I am on top of the world and simply irresistible. This beautiful scent reminds me of delicate blooming flowers, is a woodsy smell, has powdery softness, and is all around unique. It’s a soft sexy scent, but also transitions well into a daytime work atmosphere. Definitely not overbearing but commands the attention of others in a positive way. I have used a few bottles of it.

this is beautiful. doesnt get enough love in my opinion. not only the bottle but the scent is so invigorating! i need more wearings to come to a fair rating but from what im experiencing so far, i could see this is going to be a 10/10! p/s: for those who think that this is overtly feminine, give it some time till the teak wood aroma comes out. its really nice and completely unisex, not to mention it really is unique

I went to dinner with my female friend and as she opened the door to get in my car she said......FUCK...what perfume are you wearing you smell so fucking good!!!!!! I blended Astor Place with West Side.....this is a knock out combination. If you want to impress and have people swearing at you because you smell phenomenal....try mixing Astor Place with West Side!!!!!!!!

Have tested this 3 or 4 times, and I just love it more and more. The interesting thing about Bond scents is that several of them develop in the most delightful and unexpected ways. It does not smell like J'adore to me. All the notes just come together so beautifully that this is definitely on my "buy list, if I can get it for a decent price,"

I got this in a 39 package of samples from e-bay. When first applied it smelled pleasant but not special But Then it evolved into a very intriguing blend that I had to keep sniffing. It lasted about 4 hours on me. I look forward to sampling it again tomorrow because it was an interesting trip today.

This is one of the best Bond fragrances for women I've ever tried and I don't even like florals. The poppy, musk, iris, violet, and orange is just a phenomenal combination. Ladies, don't skip over this one, it's really worth a try.

Very pretty perfume. It reminds me of an older version of J'adore. I don't wear it very often because I have so many bottles of perfume, but this is my most complemented scent. I'm surprised the reviews aren't showing more love.

Something about this fragrance lifts my spirits. When I'm in my feelings, a couple of spritzes...everything is better. This is loud, happy & uncomplicated. Florals on steroids. I love it. 😊

Agree completely with huzayfa. This stuff smells GREAT - but really not unisex - this is very feminine. If I were a woman, I would get a bottle of this ASAP.

I cannot believe lily of the valley is not listed. This has it in it , and it is divine!

It's usually a bad sign when the first remark in a review refers to the bottle, but I cannot resist saying how beautiful is the vessel in which Bond no 9 ASTOR PLACE is harbored. As for the juice inside, I must agree with those who find ASTOR PLACE redolent of Dior J'ADORE. Unclear why, given the rather disparate list of (admitted) notes. Freesia, perhaps? Is this a big freesia frag? All I know for sure is that whatever the culprit is in J'ADORE which makes that composition essentially unwearable for me, it is happily absent from ASTOR PLACE. So, all in all, ASTOR PLACE is a winner in my book: the bottle is even more beautiful than the J'ADORE bottle (which I cannot give up despite my inability to wear the juice inside), and yet this edp is an appealing and feminine floral which works well with my skin chemistry and seems pleasing to others (non-wearers in the vicinity) as well. All of that said, I am unsure as to why ASTOR PLACE won the best nouveau niche FIFI. It's not really new, IMNSHO. But it certainly has good longevity and sillage, and anyone who likes J'ADORE will appreciate ASTOR PLACE--that's virtually a guarantee!

I love this scent and low key it is reminiscent of Astor Place and the surrounding East Village...just at a different time and era in NYC. This reminds me of another fragrance I cannot name but Bond No 9 is so well blended with quality ingredients - it smells like what the original perfumer intended...a floral concoction with naturally occurring scents and oils. That dries down to a really good woodsy scent. I think it’s gorgeous. It’s not different per se...but definitely gorgeous. I mix it with Missing Person by Phlur (or without a trace by Fine’ry) to tone down the floral and give an interesting depth to Astor Place.

So far, of the three Bond fragrances I have recently purchased, this is my favorite. Followed by Spring Fling, and then The scent of Peace. It’s a pretty warm floral with an ever so slight powdery vibe. I can see this being worn mostly in warmer months, spring/summer, and mainly during the day. I have to say, based on these three, I am surprised. I had always heard Bond fragrances were powerhouses and these three all are pretty normal to me, teetering on light. This is the prettiest of the bunch, a classic floral. I favor scents with orange blossom and amber so it’s no surprise I like this best.

This is a beautiful light warm weather daytime fragrance, fresh, greenish-floral, slightly spicy with great versatility and.. feminine. This is not unisex IMO. Dominant notes are strong freesia, well balanced violet leaf mixed with mandarin and poppy. The rest notes are very mild. I do not get orris root. Performance is above average overall. Long lasting scent with strong sillage for about the first hour. Beautiful feminine scent.

Got a few samples from Bond no 9 and Astor Place was one of them. I like the smell, it's a "cute" smell if that makes any sense. Ok longevity: on me it lasted about 5 hours, then I reapplied and the second time around it lasted another 6 hours. Floral, sweet but not cloying. Will try a few more days to decide whether this is worth the price they ask. PS: Definitely wouldn't wear it if I was a guy. Way too floral.

If Escada & YSL had a love child. A bit on the aqua side as well. I also detect a bit sort of berry in there too.

I am not sure about the notes here but this smells too damn similar to J`adore by Dior

I was gifted this fragrance quite some time ago. Initially, I thought I loved it but I'm no longer a fan. Now that I've developed somewhat of a fragrance profile, this does not fit in. Astor Place is appropriate for a woman in her ~50s who works in an office setting. This scent is what I'd consider too mature for me. It's more floral than anything. Let's just say I'm glad I didn't purchase this.

One of my sample vials I got with my most recent scent shop. It's nice, probably more in your face floral than I'd wear for every day. I'm definitely getting the J'adore vibe as well.

Fresh soapy floral. Headachy for me.

This leans very feminine. The longevity and sillage are actually pretty good. I would give it a 9/10. This is a super girly, fruity, flowery sort of fragrance. The color pink comes to mind. This fragrance has a very pungent sweetness to it, but not in a gourmand sort of way. The sweetness and flowery aspects are immature, like something a teenager would wear. I would say it is versatile, any season, day or night, any occasion. The person who wears this I would say loves wearing pink, most of their belongings are rhinestone-embellished. They have chandeliers all over their home (or want to have chandeliers all over their home). It's a very rodeo drive barbie sort of fragrance. Not for me but I can see how someone would appreciate it.

This is synthetic, run-of-the-mill, fresh to a fault, floral and rather serious composition. It lasts well, but it's not well-blended and it is screechy as many of today's fresh-synthetic-florals are. A disappointent. J'Adore with its solar quality is a masterpiece compared to this. I see no other similarities then both being floral scents. Astor Place is a disappointment.

I can't help it, it reminds me of the OFF mosquito repellent. It's not horrible, but I wouldn't buy it. I live in NY and to me, Astor place is more vibrant and punk. I expected this scent to be more energetic.

Definitely on the feminine side; sadly nothing more than a cheap car air freshener. I can’t find anything I like about it, even after the second wearing. Overall a terrible mix with my chemistry.

It smells like grandma...Not bougie grandma, just every day grandma and detergent. Well blended though as all Bond fragrances I've smelt and good longevity just a very unattractive grandma scent.

To me this one wins the stinkiest bond competition. Just like I hate J'adore and other sweet "good girl" annoyingly cloying fragrances, this fits in the same shelf. 0 out of 10

This smells like one of those very well formulated cheap celebrity fragrances quite immature not developed and no depth at all😔

Sweet, flowery opening. Green with something sweet and melon-like underneath. A fruity floral with something more (the green note from the violet leaf?) I agree with a previous commenter about it smelling like freshly washed college girl hair, lol! After reading that I can't not smell it. Up until then I got a pleasant, if a little pedestrian, fruity floral with notes of green. One thing I notice is that it smells better the further you are from it. I always go a little heavy on applying niche fragrances because I don't want to have to reapply if I can't really smell it and mix up the top, middle, and base notes. Astor Place is pleasant from a distance but when I bring my hand up to my nose it becomes stridant and shampoo-y. This is my first Bond No. 9 and I'm not impressed. I could see this being something Gwen Stefani would put out; sweet and playful, not particularly challenging but fun. It's enjoyable if a bit screechy but not worth the price in my book.

There's something about this fragrance that hits between the nose and throat. The smell diminishes when you put your nose right up to your skin - when you do that you get a huge whiff of the mandarin and flowers. Beyond the mandarin, which is nice and very much at the forefront when this goes on, there is a quality that reminds me of walking into a shop that sells soap or candles. I've come to the conclusion that the violet leaves are what elevate this fragrance above the mundane and keep it from being just another nice fruity floral. On me the longevity is about four hours, but my skin can eat fragrance.

I blind bought this and now I regret doing so.thoroughly agree with gaz525.Although not quite rotting flowers I detect a floral slightly past its use by date and oh so synthetic.When compared with Tom Ford's Jonquille de Nuit there is no comparison for freshness for the spring months we are currently enjoying.Granted all perfumes are synthetised these days,there are well blended ones and ones not so well blended.This falls into the later category.I gave it a chance and wanted to like it but unfortunately it hasn't grown on me and its now about to be regifted.Smells like a cheap $4 Glade air freshener.

The last time I stop by Bond No.9 counter at SFA at Union Sqaure in San Francisco, I spay some of Astor Place on a Bond No. 9 Blotter and a little on the back of my hand. It opens up with the most beautiful floral blend and has a sensual warm down of teak wood & amber. I am using the blotter as a bookmark. I get a waft of this EdP, which has a "feminine" feel to it. Each time I open my book to read, the smell of Astor Place puts a smile on my face. I so enjoy this scent. I will buy the candle once it comes out so I may be able to fill up a room with this beautiful scent from Bond No. 9.

Great bottle! Almost worth the price of admission (almost). Yes, I do get the J'adore comp here (which I do like) but it is no copy. Less floral (more serious) and a little warmer. Fem without the girly. The mandarin orange upfront is excellent (a fave). After a decent time period the freesia takes over and keeps the bottom dwelling amber and musk at bay. Sillage is excellent and the longevity is better then some Bonds(Chez Bond, Riverside, Saks for Him) which at these prices they all ought to go all day/night long! FYI - this was a 2010 FiFi Women’s Nouveau Niche winner.

Purchased a sample on the basis that Astor Place smells like J'adore, which I love (but the reformulations have somehow killed its former glory). To me, Astor Place doesn't smell at all like J'adore, that has fruity overtones and a 'late afternoon glow' (Luca Turin's, not mine). On the contrary, Astor Place is a floral with a morning, fresh outline; I get lots of freesia and lily of the valley (a line I personally do not cross often). AP smells nice, polite, uncomplicated, innocent. I like it but unfortunately have happened to meet J'adore first :)

Can we say Poppy all the way! I love Bond 9. On initial spray I smelled a heavy violet floral, but only for a 2 mins then the freesia and poppy meshed together to give the body of the fragrance that lasts and projects strongly for 5-6 hrs. Please note I said strongly so you will have a fragrance trail if you apply too heavily that could be crushing. This fragrance is very similar to Coach Poppy but not as sweet as Coach. I never smelled the musk or amber but it’s a nice fragrance will not offend. If you like Poppy this is a sure thing!

Astor place has been reformulated I had a bottle about 7or 8 years ago It smelled like gingerbread cookies amber and marshmallows yummy, I received a new bottle in the mail today and it smells like Jadore which I can’t stand something in the composition gives me a headache. Jadore smells like freesia musky and floral not my jive. I’ll sell to anyone for a fair price it’s a tester bottle without cap and used maybe 2 sprays. Anyone interested please message me.

For men and women?? Oh, I would never present this fragance to a man!! I must say the flacon is quite attractive, as is almost the whole Bond Nr.9 line. Then the fragance, it reminded me of Paris, I smelled quite a lot of violets. I have not tried J'Adore but will soon to compare. Last but not least, the price: well, it's a nice bottle but the fragance is just so over... I could buy Paris at half the price and will probably get much more for the dollar.

I've heard this described as a boring floral. I disagree. I do need to disclose that this is one of my more favorite bond bottles so I would buy it for the bottle anyway. But it is a lovely long lasting and loud floral. Red poppy orange freesia musk dominate to my nose. I don't quite smell j'adore. But it's sweet and loud and poppyish. Good for poppy fans. And you know I'm going to buy it for the bottle anyway.

HUGELY similar to Dior J'Adore, my wife's favorite. I get a strong almost strawberry candy-like smell. Just like J'Adore, this is a youthful and playful scent, very "20-something girl still trying to live out her teeneage years". She loves it. I love it on her, even better than J'Adore as it doesn't have such a nagging, synthetic feel to it. And the bottle is SO COOL, i wana buy it just for that.

I find this to be a floral, woody musk. Pretty and IMO very feminine. I get a sweet (freesia) floral that dries down to a soft woody musk. I understand the comparisons to J'adore, they would be in the same genre, but I find them quite different. This has decent silage and good lasting power. One of the few that I have been able to empty the bottle, and will repurchase.

Floral , with sharp soapy nuances . Smells very clean and fresh. There is a drop of sweetness in this but not in a candy way. jadore is compared to this a lot, I can see it but this is a much younger version. Jadore is more mature /auntie-mom vibes... this is a young version of it. Just smells clean 🧼 🌸 This lasts all day. So strong for a freshie

I find this scent incredibly familiar. Actually it smells like many other things, I see some have compared it to J'adore, and yeah it is present but with a more bitter quality. It also reminds me off notorius by RL, and to a lesser degree Sicily by DG. Bright, sweet floral and citric scent, very good sillage and longevity.
