Bond No 9 Greenwich Village EDP opens with a strong projection of sweet, musky, citrus, fruity, floral, and gourmand notes. The opening is intense, projecting, well-balanced, and very pleasant. The mandarin orange contributes with a sweet citrusy touch but its presence is short-lived, it comes and goes very fast. The cassis or black is a dark fruity, musky, with a light animalic touch, a sharpening musky note, that also enhances other notes. The litchi brings a very aromatic fruity touch, with a cherry-like accord. The peony, water lily, and jasmine blend their notes to create a noticeable white floral touch. The ambroxan is there to project and its musky touch blends with the musk note in this fragrance. The combination of the ambroxan and the musk creates an ambery accord, musky without being offensive or animalic, but very projecting with a soft powdery touch. The praline and vanilla are the last notes, a gourmand, sweet, a milky-chocolate-like accord. The only noticeable opening to a dry-down change in this fragrance is, the opening and ephemeral mandarin orange note, that comes up for a brief moment, and the ambery development towards the dry-down, once the ambroxan and musk have settled down. Once Bond No 9 Greenwich Village EDP has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate projection, very sweet gourmand (vanilla, praline), musky (ambroxan, musk), white floral (Peony, Water Lily, Jasmine), and fruity (litchi) fragrance. The fragrance feels bold, candy-sweet, comforting, cozy, delectable, dense, dry, elegant, energizing, exotic, expensive, floral, formal, fragrant, fruity (dark fruits-like), gourmand (milk with a bit of chocolate), high-quality, imposing, intense, inviting, mature, milky, modern, musky (not animalic or dirty, instead ambery with a slight powdery touch), nicely-blended, playful, slightly powdery, resinous, refined, rich, romantic, special, very sweet, syrupy, unique, unisex, versatile, and very pleasant. AGES: 30 and above. RECOMMENDATION: Bond No 9 Greenwich Village EDP can be purchased for about $170, it is a fragrance a bit on the pricy side, but its quality, uniqueness, and scent are worth. It’s so pretty!! I’m shocked by how much I enjoy this, anything in the “fresh” category.. though often something I find to smell lovely, is not something I can imagine myself wearing. This on the other hand, I smell like a queen! It’s so beautiful! In truth I was very put off by the Bond No 9 bottles for a long time, so I kind of just... did not bother ordering decants, because I did not think anything would compel me to put one of these bottles on my shelf (I know some people love them though, and I mean absolutely no shade at any of those people, I am happy for everyone to love what they love and have their own preferences!!). Anywho, this truly is such a light and pretty fragrance. This would be a perfect signature scent for the summer time, as someone who doesn’t care for coconut or feels out of place rocking tropical fragrances in the high desert!! Truly, just so beautiful and feminine. This is absolutely full bottle worthy for me and I cannot wait to get my hands on it!! I am perceiving this fragrance as young/playful but still very ADULT. It’s whimsical! Absolutely whimsical, to me! Oddly, I didn’t detect it on my own but reading the comments, I completely see the BR540 comparison. That’s actually wild! It really is a fruity BR540. I don’t own BR540, though I do enjoy it... I think this is actually more my preference, and is a bit more unique (quite a bit) than BR540!! This is a love, BR540 is a gentle like. Edit: to me, this is extremely shampooey. I know that isn’t for everyone, but I think it’s really wonderful! Arguably more shampooey than the after shower fragrances I hunted down FOR the purpose of being shampooey (Ocean di Gioia, Versace Dylan Purple, Pear Inc.). I love!!

Greenwich Village by Bond No. 9 One of my rich little brothers put me onto this. It actually hurt to ask, but I had to. Bro, what are you wearing. That was the moment. This has been in steady rotation ever since. Not occasional. Weekly. It earns its place every time. It opens bright and slightly sweet with lychee and a crisp citrus sparkle that immediately feels upscale. There is a smooth fruitiness that pulls you in without turning playful or juvenile. As it settles, the praline starts to show, adding a creamy sweetness that gives it body. That is balanced by a soft floral touch and a clean, musky backbone that keeps everything refined. The drydown is where it locks in. Warm amber, smooth woods, and a lingering sweetness that smells expensive without trying to prove it. Notes include lychee, mandarin, peony, praline, amber, musk, and oakmoss. Everything is blended to project luxury in a very effortless way. Performance is serious. This gets into the room before you do and stays after you leave. Twelve plus hours on skin is normal. On clothing it will last for days. I had a woman across the bar ask the bartender to track down who she was smelling. Drinks sent over, needed the name, no hesitation. That is the type of reaction this pulls. This is one of those rare scents that works everywhere. Day, night, casual, dressed up, any season. It carries like a signature without ever feeling locked into one moment. I understand why people think that Greenwich Village has something in common with Baccarat Rouge, but I do not think they are, in practical terms, similar fragrances at all. Like Baccarat, Greenwich Village has a synthetic, vaguely medicinal quality, with a musky undercurrent and some form of sweetness in its base, but they are distant cousins, at best. Greenwich Village has none of the woodiness or spices that are present in Baccarat, and it doesn't smell quite so chemical. Baccarat, on the other hand, is not fresh or light, whatsoever. I dislike Baccarat strongly, but I love Greenwich Village. I think it has much closer to a third cousin in the synthetic and medicinal musky family: Burberry Her. Like Her, this fragrance is airy and fruity, but where Her is floral and sweet, Greenwich Village is watery and fresh. Of the three, I think that Greenwich Village is the most interesting. It opens with a very fresh, watery, fruity smell, as if you've just stepped out of the shower. The synthetic aspect is there, but doesn't last. The litchi, water lily, and musk however, are persistent throughout the day and keep things airy and bright; it's playful, clean, flirty. Honestly, sophisticated, but with a sense of humour. The longer it wears on your skin, the sweeter and more intimate the smell becomes. The vanilla and praline start to come out, and it becomes more inviting. By morning, everything but the gourmand notes and the musk have faded, so when you wake up, there's still a phantom presence of Greenwich Village that lingers, but only in the form of these final notes.

UPDATE: What a difference an almost-year makes! I'm grateful for grace, time, and a more sophisticated nose. Greenwich Village is the masterpiece it's been hyped up to be. The Jasmine is really the only thing that's reminiscent of BR540. I love this fragrance so much now I have to wonder what was I was thinking when I wrote that first review. I clearly needed a hug and some time away from the internet! Fortunately I'm an adult who appreciates the ability to be nuanced and evolve, and admit when I err. Because there's nothing underwhelming about GV, nothing weak. I get strong performance, and a beautiful fragrance that always lifts my mood. I also layer it with Tribeca and those two together will literally get you chased down the street. Mea Culpa and please feel free to safely buy this! I saw all the reviews comparing this to BR540 and fully thought that the people were exaggerating. But yeah no yeah. It's giving BR540. I'm disappointed only because I thought I really needed this Bond in my collection and I really didn't. Got a great deal on a 100ml tester from Jomashop so had to push the button on it. But Greenwich Village so far is surprisingly underwhelming. All I'm really picking up is jasmine, musk and ambroxan. Soft, sweet & inoffensive, but even with the deep discount from Jomashop, this is really overpriced for the weak sillage and underwhelming performance and unremarkable scent. We'll see how this shapes up but I'm guessing I'm probably going to just use BR540 rather than reaching for this.
