New York Musk

I picked this up right around the start of the season transition from end of summer to start of fall a few months back. It was a blind buy and my first dive into niche fragrances. I saw a 50 ml for $75 on Marshall’s or TJ Maxx. I watched and read a few reviews and figures for the price compared to the msrp and if I didn’t like it I could always try to sell it or trade it. I received it immediately got my nose on it and was immediately disappointed that I’d made that blind buy. There was something just repugnant, displeasurable, and overwhelmingly so. This fragrance has since sat untouched aside from perhaps a few sniffs from the atomizer. Last night I was perusing my collection for a bedtime scent and saw this bottle, thinking “what am I going to do with this abomination?” I decided to give it another try and sprayed it as my bedtime scent. I don’t know what happened over the last 4 months. When I’d tried it, I was indoors and the indoor temperature was pretty consistent with how I keep the house in the winter. Perhaps it needed to just sit and macerate for a few months. Whatever happened, this has gone from something that was abhorrent in late September to early October to something I just absolutely fell in love with last night. I had just gone through my collection a few days back updating my “loves, likes, oks” etc. This is immediately changed to a love. There’s something comforting, yet mysterious, and extraordinarily pleasurable. I woke up this morning, took my puppy outside, and spent some time shoveling snow. Upon coming inside I can smell the blend of black currant, grapefruit blossom, and nutmeg radiating, and the richness of a clean musk and creaminess of sandalwood along with its woodiness mixed with the Vetiver and patchouli. This has gone from “hate it” to “I wish they’d had 100 ml bottles.” Definitely recommend, but definitely recommend letting this one sit for a bit if it’s offensive at first sniff.

I have a large collection of fragrances that was missing a musk so i was eyeing this for a little bit before I pulled the trigger. It ended up coming and I'm afraid it ruined the chance for me to enjoy any other musk. It immediately bullied it's way to my top 3 favorite out of a collection of 70+ bottles of designer and niche fragrances. I fell in love with this and ever since I bought it I've been wasting money in search for other musks similar or as enjoyable as this. They just aren't as phenomenal as this. I would like to see a spin off of this with a stronger musk fragrance. This will always be in my collection I will never be without it. My wife doesn't like it she said it smells like calamine lotion (I don't agree) but that's what she gets out of it. I saw a youtube review of someone mentioning it smells like cat piss. I can see where they might pick up that note, I mean it's a musk so. I feel this fragrance is a masterpiece. I am in love with it and been looking for other musks to enjoy but haven't found any yet and unfortunately i dont think i will. Ny musk set the bar pretty high with this one. If anyone has any recommendations for other delectable musks please let me know.

I have worn Kiehl's for 10 years and wanted to switch it up every now and then. I have a friend who is a Bondaholic and owns about 80% of their inventory. I'm not that adventurous or that well to do. I visited the Bond counter with her at Saks and informed the salesgirl that musk is my fragrance of choice. She introduced me to New York musk and I fell in love. She gave me a sample, as I would not make an impulse purchase until I was sure that I would wear it. I can honestly say that it sold itself. I bought a bottle on eBay and I wear it daily. I love that at the end of the day, I can still smell it and that unlike many fragrances, it doesn't make me sneeze,nor does it dry down into something repulsive. I use it very sparingly as a little goes a long way. Totally worth it for me.

It’s interesting because I’ve been looking at this fragrance on this site for a while. I saw it at a perfume outlet and purchased it blind, in person, which I’ve never done. It smells exactly how I thought it would. Like a weekend evening out in the city in the 90s. Skin scent very in offensive. Not strong projection nor does it last long so you can over spray or on clothes. The patchouli balances out the musk. If you’re a bond no 9 weirdo like me i would add out this on your wish list. If you’re female you could use this but it would be a great scent to have around for a boyfriend, where you could where something louder and his fragrance wouldn’t clash or outshine yours. It’s not cloying in the slightest.

This smell caught me off guard. It was highly sweet and masculine. I could smell a dark fruityness about it with perhaps a little tart but it was addicting. Very nice smell and then the drydown happens and it continues as it did with more of an Oud as someone mentioned. It wasnt at all unbearable and I think its what keeps the notes from smelling feminine. Either way, Im surprised to see so many dislikes but the scent is not bad at all. Its a matter of taste. It is sweet and different and you maayyy not decide to wear this everywhere but you definitley could. I like it. I smelled this at Saks, apparently it is their special product and it is actually much more expensive. Id say try it.

This is truly a masterpiece. The opening brings the berry & citrus notes and the musk, leading into the mellow, luscious sandalwood and tender patchouli, wood tones underneath all along. Absolutely beautiful, not sweet, not cloying, very warm, luxurious, sensual. I honestly do not smell the musk as it dries, but that just may be the artful blending of the right, high quality ingredients. I found out at a very young age (hippie, of course) that there is nothing like high quality musk. Don't miss this one. P.S. Whoever said there was "oud" in this fragrance is wrong. I am severely sensitive to oud in fragrance and, besides that, it is not listed! :)

One note: this definitely NOT start with a blast of rubbing alcohol. If that is all you are getting, you are likely anosmic to a major component of the scent (or, conversely, hyperosmic to something else). The opening is a beautiful blend of grapefruit and tart black currant. This quickly settles into a fuzzy musk oriented accord that is comprised of black currant, patchouli, a subtle - and yet clearly noticeable - pine-like resinous note from galbanum, and some fruity overtones from the osmanthus, which combined with the other notes gives more of a cherry note than apricot or peach.

The vast majority of reviews here are just....wrong. Until this frag, Bleecker St was the only Bond I rated above a 6.8 (and Ive tried decants of at least a dozen Bonds) but this may be the best one yet. Woody floral musks and floral woody musks are two of my favorite olfactory subgroups and this one is done WELL. Often, musks smell like musk and little else. They managed to avoid that pitfall here. I simply do not understand the "meh" reviews. @BowTieFragranceGuy rarely steers me wrong though, and he picked another winner here.

I walk into my doctor office and a young lady said ... "oh my!" That's Bond No 9 New York Musk. It's starts off a little off putting with sharp fresh spices with a woody base. After about and hour the mid/dry down notes is a sweet powdery musk with some floral and dirty earthy (patchouli). New Your Musk is perfect for every day wear. This is for musk lovers only.

This is a 10/10 fragrance, especially for guys who like that buttery musk in Kouros but want something modern and fruity. It's essentially a combination of YSL Kouros and Creed Aventus for Her. I'm happy that this is totally slept on cause it makes me the best smelling man in the city.

When I first got it I wasn't a fan, but I tried it again after months and I was like WAW , light Woody musky , so beautiful its not a beast mode but last long , and because of this fragrance I'm interested in trying more from this brand )

Leafy green with earthy undertones. The laundry white musks can be tricky but they do the trick here. It’s a bold move cause it’s far away from the mainstream tastes in the last 15 years. Recommended.

Gorgeous pure perfume composition of patchouli, musk and amber. Give it a few wearings before making up your mind. I have finally fallen in love with it. Superb longevity and sillage. Big Thumbs up!

This is really good, it reminds me of a niche version of eternity for men, very 90s

Not having read any of the reviews here (on purpose), I smell OUD plus one of the smoothest patchouli/ambrette-style spicy clean cool musk blends I've encountered. There's also a wee pinch of a spice that I suppose is the nutmeg, though I wouldn't be able to tell that. I get none of the other notes yet, as of my 3rd wearing (maybe w/ more sprays? I'm using my sample sparingly!). I'm thinking the oud impression I get is built on an ambroxan base like JHAG's Midnight Oud (though this scent's nothing like that!) to make it buoyant. It seems light as a feather, yet retains all of oud's sultry goodness. Blended with this almost vegetal spicy fresh musk, it's walking the perfect line between sexy time goodness and freshness. I adored it from the first time I tested it - getting more & more hooked on this collection! It's amazingly attractive, to both myself and my guy. Plus as with pretty much all Bonds the sillage is great, longevity amazing! Mmmm.... excuse me while I bury my nose in my wrist again. Must. Get. MORE. P.S. Oh look, the review below me mentions oud! :D Totally. Also it's so fun and different to see oud NOT PAIRED WITH ROSE! Oh, the possibilities if more perfumers branched away from that classic combo. This is a perfect example of another oud match made in heaven to me.

Fragrance -New York Musk Bond No 9 Bottle from - 2015 I personally like Bond No 9 fragrances.Musk is very nice, masculine,sweet musky,woody,a little bit floral and well-blended scent.To me,this is a very pleasant fragrance and I didn't expect that much compliments.This is a huge compliment getter. Longevity - 8/10(8+hours) Silage/projection -8/10(nice projection for the first 2-3 hours,silage also exist) Weather - spring,autumn,winter Age - 25+ Compliments - 9/10 Scent - 8/10 Main notes according to me -musk,sandalwood,patchouli,black currant,green lily. The drydown is nice and i get some - sweetness,woodiness,patchouli and vetiver. Emotions -sensual,seductive,sexy,romance,date. Occasion -romantic evening,dates,casual activities and night out. I get compliments from men and women all day long.

Another redundant Bond, go figure. . .. This smells like a lighter version of New York Oud, which smells like New York Amber, which resembles New York Sandalwood, which smells like Bond no 9 Perfume and so on. I'm surprised not to see oud listed on this fragrance, because that weird, unmistakable "Bond oud" note is present here. To me, it smells somewhat like OFF! bug spray with deet; this particular version is the softest I've yet tried regarding that oud note. The scent progresses and mellows out very nicely. It's definitely not a hot-weather fragrance, but you could probably get away with wearing this to a nighttime Summer event. Not really my style because, aside from Shelter Island, I'm not a fan of the oud note that Bond no 9 uses. This is a pass for me, but allllllmost purchase worthy.

First whiff didn't grab my attention and like but as it developed on my skin I started to like it.all the notes are blended very well,musk,sandalwood are the most dominant notes on my skin but I can pick up black current,lily and patchouli too,even a hint of osmanthus but if I didn't know about notes I could just name musk and sandalwood,something fruity and a creamy,soft floral Sandalwood amd flowers are creamy and round all the edges.musk is clean here but it's also warm and delicately sweet.not a sharp,cold,detergent like musk,not also overly sexy and animalic It may sound a very simple fragrance but I like it's balance.if feels warm,enveloping and clean.both good on men and women.it's wearable year round but better in mild to cool temp.longevity is amazing but it stays close to skin

The drydown smells just like Montale Aoud Musk. The opening? Not so much. Me personally, I like the drydown but I hate the opening, so I'm an exception to the couple reviews below. It starts out very "Bond" (you know, that cool sharp patchouli smell they all share?!) But the opening really only lasts about an hour before this scent morphs into something completely different. I personally can't stand the black currant note they used in the opening, but the base notes are phenomenal. I mean, if you like that whole soft, powdery, yet animalic, oud plus musk thing, which I do. :) If you like the final drydown but hate the opening, try Montale Aoud Musk and skip right to the good parts :D I have both, so I'm selling this one.

I'm not sure my review entirely aligns with others for this one. I do like like the scent itself very much, it is quite a linear fragrance, but a very well rounded one, totally inoffensive mildly fresh and woody musk, with no 'sharp edges' at all. I can't really see much that side not to like. That said, I can't really see much to actively 'love' either, but it is a good musk. What I do struggle with, however, is that the longevity is just not there - having to wrist sniff to find it within about 30 minutes, could not locate at all within 2 hours. I actually don't mind paying up for a Bond I love, but no matter how nice I think this is, I couldn't justify a big bottle on anything I'm having to respray that regularly.

Woodsy, Musky, Powdery, Grapefruit all come to mind. Upon My first initial spray i thought to myself "this stuff is too loud." But after it dried down i kept asking myself, "Who's smelling so good?" constantly smelling my wrist over and over again. My friends would all say.. Yes u smell amazing, get over yourself. I just smiled and walked away. Definitely one for your Bond Collection. 7/10

This perfume is definitely a love and a sillage monster which is great for cooler temps. Compliment getter for sure that need only 2 spays on the neck. Sprayed this on around 8am and 10pm I can definitely smell it around me which my wife likes! Can’t believe I found this at TJ Maxx on the clearance rack.

I like it more than love it. But I really love how it smells on my husband. Subtle, musky, powdery. It's a very comforting smells. I too wear it but i have to be in the mood for it. I believe this is perfect for cold weather.

One of the very few Bonds I like. It has oud, definitely. I don't get much musk. The slight sweetness might come from the fruity black currant. The fruitiness has a similar vibe to Poirier d`un Soir by Miller Harris.

I find this too sharp when worn alone. However, I love layering this with other fragrances that are Sweet with Vanilla or Carmel. It gives depth to some of my overly sweet perfums.

For me it smell like dark chocolate. it somehow give me some earthy vibes that a little dirty and dusty. its kinda dark for me, but it also smell fresh.

At first I didn't like this but after wearing it a couple times it kind of grew on me. Its a safe offering from Bond that you can wear anywhere.

Smells like Al-Haramain Madinah. but that smells a little better. Consider the prices too...

I guess I just don’t like musk scents, it’s super minimal but the musk feels between being clean laundry and sweaty skin I personally don’t get any of the notes on me, I just would not ever want to buy this and wear it over literally anything

This is intriguing. Definitely better on a man than a woman. The musky nutmeg in it smells good from afar, but is very strong up close.

Have a decant and have been testing this here and there at home. For the first 10 seconds of the opening this smells like nail polish remover. After that has passed you get a very good black current. One of the better black current notes I've smelled. It's juicy and vibrant and then it mixes with the other top notes to form a black grape smell. 🍇 Sweet saffron, fizzy from the nutmeg, and borderline boozy. Finally to the drydown I get patchouli and musk. The patchouli is green, strong and a little funky and the musk is different from the musk in Bond Signature. The musk has a clear and clean aspect. I get a little smooth sandalwood rounding things out. If you like grapes, dark semi funky patchouli and nice clean musks you will like this. This fragrance has some weight behind it so I could see this being cloying in hot temperatures. You could tell me there's Rose and Oud in this and I'd believe you. Feels like saffron as well. Performance wise this thing lasts 8 hours no problem. Smell 7/10 Performance 7.5/10 Update: I've grown tired of the scent already after only a few days testing. Not FBW. New rating= Scent 5.5 /10

A hard no from me. Bond no 9 is the overpriced American candy store of perfumes. They are fun, gimmicky, with a strong top note that lures you in, but the actual substance really doesn't correlate with the price tag in terms of complexity, creativity and quality. This could easily pass for a Lynx/Axe spray. The musk is very strong and animalic but it just comes across in a harsh and abrasive way that is characteristic in cheaper Middle Eastern fragrances. There is something dirty in this fragrance that is similar to Black Orchid and that's probably why I really don't pull for it. The texture is almost smoky and opaque. It is unisex but veres masculine. -Underwhelming-

Damn, almost had a good, all-purpose cologne here. Perhaps we still do, only it's just distasteful to me. Let me just start off with this: the fragrance goes on easy, initially it's a pleasant, ambery, woodsy wiff of heaven. It's almost generic, but not in a bad way, but just not worth that much for something so easily accessible. But here's the downside, there's that alarmingly, unpleasant, almost metallic scent that I'm assuming is Oud (it predominates the New York Oud!) and really ruins the drydown. Kinda sucks. Maybe that scent makes it expensive, or complex to merit it's cost. For me, it's just not worth it.

No musk?! What? To me, this is a skanky, dirty, animalic musk. (Granted, I don't have that much experience with musk bombs like this, but still, that's how it smells to me.) This is not a soft, ethereal, feminine, light musk. This is full on animal gland. I do like the top notes, but the drydown is just too much for me. I almost couldn't handle the muskiness. I just don't see how anyone can want to smell this musky. I'm not sure who this would be best on, but it's not me. Sorry Bond! I do love you, but not on this one.

I had this, it didn’t work for me so I gave it to my husband and he likes it. I originally wrote a more detailed review but it was removed presumably because people downvoted it just because they disagreed. The whole purpose of this site is to offer honest reviews of a fragrance. We all have different tastes and opinions and that’s OK. Some people don’t like my favorite scents but I don’t get mad about it. I find this cloyingly sweet on my skin. Sorry if that offends you.

Had a sample and i sprayed this stuff on my wrist, put my nose close and it almost knocked me out... Geez its strong.. and i really dislike the smell. something in it burned my nose... maybe thats my fault because i shouldn't have got so close but man come on! i really like the house of bond but not into this maybe an overall rating of 4/10 the smell is not for me though the projection, longevity, and sillage are stellar peace and blessings to all

I sampled...too masculine for me. I can imagine this smelling good on a man in winter. I did top it with a PDM Valaya like perfume to see if it made it a more feminine scent & it is interesting in a good way & so much better for me to wear.

uhm I don’t know what to say. Meh I think? It starts off really fruity then dries down to a musky skin scent. It’s a miss for me. Edit: you filthy musk. It smells like groin area.

Such a disappointment. This smells like sweaty dead animal to me. I like musk, but this is not like anything else I've ever tried. Most fragrances I can deal with. This one actually gave me a headache. Sorry, Bond! I agree with the one reviewer; SKANK SKANK! You said it, sister.

BODY ODOR in a bottle. Its horrible. I honestly can not believe this is called a perfume. It literally makes you smell awful. IT SMELLS LIKE A STINKY GROIN AREA AND I MEAN STANKKK!! You have been warned!!

With blind testing: bright Musk, currants and saffron, which is not stated here. What I don't feel at all is Vetiver. The aroma favors the cold-skinned, like many musky aromas. On cold skin, the first 10 minutes is a bright, recognizable Musk (from the musk to musk montale series), and then perfume ecstasy begins, a long commercial ... At 4-5 hours maximum. Yes, yes, the flavor is not very persistent, unfortunately. Or maybe, as a minus of cold skin, it just flies away. But! What gave me this muscle during this time, pays for all the slim. Very sensual, gentle and at the same time, the fragrance itself made me admire in the first 2 years and just enjoy the fragrance itself. I can not say that this is the purest Musk, no. Such beauty for me is often in those flavors where there is saffron. But here it is not stated, at least officially. Friends, when you write about sweat, cats, dogs, horses, goats, and so on, please (!) Write what skin type you have so that others can understand the situation. And do you like Musk at all? It is strange when a person does not like Musk and he tastes the aroma with the name Musk in the hope of what? What is it just a name and musk is not here? And then write, fu, sweat, horses and so on? MUSK is very capricious and does not sit on everyone with his inherent sensuality, or delicate beauty. From my own experience I will say it again - Musk, Black currant berries and hawthorn do not like hot skin! I will also say that the flavor is more likely without a km-train and "die all living things." However, it is clearly felt in the field of your aura, creating a cocoon from which you do not want to get out at all! How great it is not to read the comments before testing and rely only on their feelings. Completely forgot. 2 times applied simultaneously on the wrist and on the elbow - as required to prove, the wrist is bliss and bliss, the elbow is “horses” :))) in the elbow bends much hotter skin. Summarizing. "Stylish handsome man with a luxurious sound for people with cold skin - I promise to give a buzz. It's legal." :) P. S. Inhuman cost P. S. P. S. Strangely, I'm not smelling any of these notes! Are they being blocked somehow? I wonder... To my nose, Bond no 9 NEW YORK MUSK smells like a milder version of NEW YORK AMBER or HARRODS AMBER (which is itself a milder version of NEW YORK AMBER). So perhaps I should say that NEW YORK MUSK smells to me like a milder version of the already milder HARRODS AMBER? It smells very nice (I happen to love the Bond no 9 AMBERS), but I was really looking forward to a brand new fragrance from this house, especially given the conspicuous absence from their line-up of any musk-centric perfumes. I have yet to encounter a single one. I myself dislike dirty, sweaty musk (and I could never have been the concubine of Napoléon...), but a clean musk is always welcome to my nose. In the Bond no 9 line-up, musk seems only to appear as a very low-key basenote, and it is *never* dirty. Which makes a lot of sense, actually. The people of New York city do not need to contribute any stinkiness to the fumes wafting off garbage in the streets, and the general layer of dinge covering all of the permanent structures, including the subways, where rats the size of raccoons have been known to take shelter. Yes, these smells are virtually ubiquitous, everywhere to be sniffed, hanging in the air as they are as all hope of fresh breezes is dashed by the imposing buildings which simultaneously block out the sun in the city of shadows. The very last thing that New Yorkers need to be doing is inviting prurient leers from strangers. It's a big, densely populated city, so there are bound to be lechers here and there... "Come hither" dirty sweaty musk in the Big Apple? Not a good idea. Given the low-musk profile of even this, a perfume with the word 'musk' in its name, what I am surmising is that the folks at Bond no 9, like me, do not really dig dirty musk. I suspect that those who do will be disappointed by this launch.

This one is a bit challenging but yet simple. You have some white florals, mild spices, black currant, and musk. You really have to let this sit a sec to develop and even with that the musk is like someone playing with a light switch, on off, on off. Obviously the musk makes this scent but if musk wasn’t in here this would be a very disappointing fragrance in my opinion. I almost debate to say that I wish Bond no 9 portrayed the in this fragrance in the likes of Bleecker St which I believe would make that 10x better further contributing to the profile. With that said this is not a bad fragrance. I surely would not wear this on a humid day nor in the summer. I can’t wait to sport this in the fall, winter, early spring where I think this needs cold weather to thrive without the musk being suffocating because that will surely happen I’m certain. This is first fragrance that I actually respect those that don’t like it regardless of how potentially ignorant the commentary may be because I get it. Musk is not an easy note to execute, and yet provocative. Many wear fragrance to escape their personal musk/scent and with this here it’s like why would I put this on. Also to mention strong no for wearing to work unless you want some HR complaints. This is a beautiful scent but it’s like you need time to appreciate it and it’s kinda a reminder of a realistic expectation of how maybe our personal scent profiles are in this case in New York or what the smells of New York has.

I went on a favorite Fragantican site in search of a "high-end" musk, just at random. This one came up. I bought a travel-sized vial. I had never tried NYM nor anything else by this house until now. I'm impressed while understanding the criticism. Despite the notes, it reminds me a LOT of what the discontinued Big Pony 3 For Men by Ralph Lauren smells like. (At the time of its release I received a gift of BP3 from a favorite aunt who is no longer with us, so it's firmly in my scent memory.) Just add a ghost note of oud and other subtle notes to fill out and deepen BP3's shower gel vibe. BP3 was released a couple years before NYM, and both absolutely reflect the early '10s. This is a like it or loathe it scent, with a high degree of persistence. I can fully understand the polarization. BP3 was decidedly a young and simple scent, yet it worked: which is likely why prices are what they are to secure a bottle. NYM's "grown up" and complex version of that same overall motif (to my nose) may be off putting to some, so I could never recommend it as a blind buy to anyone else. Yet, I would absolutely recommend trying New York Musk. It definitely has its own unique, pleasing and classy flair that just may leave you smiling, as it did with me.

I avoided testing this scent for a few reasons. I thought it would be another ho hum of a scent, where BNo9 was reaching again, or rather they were trying to put out a new and improved version of Amber, New York Oud, Signature, Andy Warhol, and Manhattan. I think they have arrived at the right combination for me. The first spray recalls the beginning notes of their Signature parfum, and oud is already present, but it is not loud and screechy. What happens in their prior oud offerings was that it gets louder and louder and very annoying. What happens with NY Musk is that is softens because of the musk itself, which intensifies, but not in a bad way as how some people describe here. To me, the musk is very mild, or I could be anosmic and not smelling all of it. Happily oud is not the final note in this scent. In the final drydown the oud is light and you smell more the warmth of musk and ambery woods and patchouli. If Amber and Signature had a little romp on a sheepskin rug, that's exactly what it would smell like, and I love it! Oh-meegosh I can't believe I need to add another to my Bond wishlist. But at its crazy price, I dunno, I think I need to pick up a bottle from a non-retail source.

Wonderful start! New York Musc opens smelling like you would imagine a dry cleaned cactus. Prickly, and dry, giving a tactile impression like the tacky feel of drying varnish. It has a beautifully constructed synthetic musk; not cuddly, not sweet, but also not like detergent. It feels deliberate and even insubordinate. This isn’t your mama’s musk. It's got that New York nonchalant fuck-you tone. But then there's a strange, slow turning-of-the-screw progression away from dry-cleaner into a juicy-fruit gum, exceedingly sweet, soft musk. During these trapped-in-Jello middle notes, I feel like I'm wearing an hours-long bellyflop. The third act, in what feels like a minor triumph simply because it's rising from the fruit (cocktail) cellar, New York Musk ends on a nondescript patchouli musk tone. Unfortunately, and this is an intrinsic problem to a musk that you don’t like, the ending feels like an olfactory, nightmarish version of the ending of the Beetles song, “A Day in the Life”. SA at Nordstroms stopped me and asked if I wanted to try Bonds fragrances. I tried several in the past and none thrilled me but I was willing to give it a go again. She asked me what my favorite fragrances were which were all sweet and fell into floral oriental category. Based on that, she gave me sample of New York Musk. I don't know whether my nose just can't smell certain notes or what but I smell no blackcurrent, lilies or any other floral top notes. All I get is patchouli, sandalwood, nutmeg,in other words, the spices. No musk whatsoever. It also smells very masculine to my nose. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't smell bad but this is definitely not what I was looking for and too masculine to boot. It does lasts a long time(I put a tiny spritz on my wrist and it easily lasted 5-6 hours) unlike some other scents in this brand which I found to be rather weak. For me, its still not worth a hefty price tag

New York Musk seems similar to Harrods Amber. In both fragrances I can perceive a hint of Oud, that is less prominent in NYM. But Oud is not the dominant note, it has a very clean musk and some interesting mix of spices to keep it alive. It is a clean scent, so clean that reminds me of fresh laundry out of the dryer...but with a touch of another scent, that is not in the database. If you like Harrods Amber ór NYM you should probably order Al Haramain Urbanist Privé, it comes in a beautiful golden bottle, I got mine from BeautySpin for a very modest price. You would be surprised, but where the Bond scents are polite and well behaved boys, Urbanist has nuclear strength and the initial blast is a little bit chemical. But the drydown is incredibly similar to HA and NYM. Thanks to my dear Gypsy Parfumista for the samples.

Bond No. 9 New York Musk seems to have the same DNA as New York Amber and New York Oud. As with those two, there's an appeal about it but something off about it at the same time. Unsurprisingly there's a healthy dose of musk in Musk, along with a sweet blackcurrant accord to be make it more pleasant from the top down. The base is just odd, though--the mix of patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, and musk serving to create a bit of a funk that I don't get quite find endearing, despite the fresh and fruity opening elements. It is, in some sense, likable, season-versatile, and unisex, but there's something amiss enough about it that I'd steer clear rather than spray it on again. 6 out of 10

I received this in a swap and was excited to try it since I do love musk. At first spray I found myself standing close to a sweaty stable hand who was grooming a horse that had just returned to the barn. The overpowering fetid odors were very off putting but once the initial blast began to dry down, a waft of what seemed like oud, patchouli and leather pervaded. Not surprisingly, its longevity was outstanding and as it faded I really liked it as it reminded me of Patchouli Noir. As far as the other light and fruity notes go...non-existent. If you love a animalic kick to your nose and wallet, go for it. I'll pass this time.
