New York Patchouli

The notes I pick up on most are bergamot, rose water, litchi, lilac, and musk. These notes are supported by the typical Bond No. 9 amber, woody, musk base found in most of their fragrances. Ironically, I do not smell much patchouli in this composition. For me, this is actually a good thing. When I first sprayed New York Patchouli, I was instantly reminded of another fragrance, but I couldn't put my finger on what is was. I still cannot quite figure out what this reminds me of. It bears some similarities to Creed Himalaya, but I wouldn't go as far as saying they smell alike or that this is Bond's attempt to clone Himalaya. The heart is where the fragrance has more of a green, floral quality, although I find the heart somewhat difficult to identify. There is a clean patchouli note and lilac. I don't pick up on the lily. The base has a similar vibe to other Bond No. 9 fragrances. It is mostly musk, with some cedar, a touch of amber and sandalwood. At first this smells like something you would wear in warmer weather. It gives off that kind of vibe, but this is a thick fragrance. It would best for cooler weather, like spring and fall. You could also wear it in winter if you wanted a fragrance that smells like a warm weather fragrance, but will hold up in winter. I personally do not wear this in the summer, it is too dense and thick for the summer heat. I bought a 100 mL bottle of this about a year ago and it is one of my most worn fragrances. I find it can be worn in any situation or occasion. The longevity is actually very good on me, which is to be expected with a parfum concentration. I get great performance from all of my Bond No. 9 fragrances, but this one beats all of them except for New York Oud and Scent of Peace for Him. This fragrance marketed for men and women, but I find it to be more masculine. I received more unsolicited compliments with this fragrance than any other in my wardrobe, including Aventus! One day at work, I received 4 unsolicited compliments from women in a matter of about 2-3 hours. Until that point, I'd probably gotten 4 compliments from coworkers on all my fragrances. I do not understand all the bad reviews this fragrance has received. I enjoyed this before hearing women tell me they like it. After the reception I got with New York Patchouli, I like it even more. I think it has a great scent, with good performance, and it's incredibly versatile. The only area that this fragrance suffers is originality.

New York Patchouli by Bond No. 9 Retro! Retro! Retro Masculine! But Where is the Patchouli? This scent is a recreation of what barber shop scents used to be like in the 80's. The start is very fresh, with citrus, ginger and cardamon notes. There is already a masculine wintry dusty quality to it; think hats, coats, gloves and dark clothing attire. Is there already a bit of leather peeking through? The heart is full of strong musk that will envelope you for ages. This note will then become the main note in the drydown along with possibly moss with some hints of leather. The Longevity and projection are good. I would describe this scent as a Fougere, not as Oriental. I would have called it New York Musk! Pros: Not a gourmand for Bond ! Cons: Cheap recycled glass bottle and sticker. Packaging is also cheap at Astronomical Bond Prices. Very similar to Loewe pour homme Sport at a fraction of the price.

I know it is supposed to be unisex, but to me it is a super attractive male scent. I love it, but I cannot stand it on myself, it just doesn't feel right. I want to smell it on my partner. But is smells so good, I am actively considering buying a bottle and never to use it, just smell it secretly because it is so good. It is spicy and a little bit sweet. It's a mystery because I am not a fan of any of these notes (some I even dislike) but in this perfume it all comes together perfectly.

If u buy this from any place other than saks or a high end store u will not like it and that may explain some of the bad reviews because I tried to save and wasted money buying from a online retailer but once I tested it at saks I saw it's true glory and it's one of my staples now. everyone ask and compliments this fragrance so much it puts me on high all day so please don't review this if your wearing a knock off, dupe or expired bottle u saved on online somewhere.

This is a good one gents. I received a ton of compliments on this fragrance. Many women wanted to know the name of this scent because they wanted their guy to smell like me until the price came up. Def will get this bad boy for Valentines day!!! This one has good longevity and the scent is so fresh and so clean.

Update: Got a ton of compliments today on this one. Wow this one lasted a full 8hrs on me. Ladies loved this one! It will set you back around $260 - $330. I love my samples for now but definitly full bottle worthy.

One of the best perfumes i have ever smelled in my life! Note that i have over 200 of them. It smells ethereal and is unbelievably good, fresh woody and slightly spicy. Highly recommended. 10/10

I absolutely LOVE this fragrance. I always receive compliments every time I wear it. One of the best Bonds in my opinion. Last over 18 hours on my skin. If you can, get your nose on this beauty.

F-R-E-S-H/ pristine/ soft with radiance. Definitely smells like a Bond The intensity is for sure bold, but I actually like the longevity for it being so fresh. This launch was the latter of "Scent of Peace for Him" and in my opinion the two have the same texture, and fresh-feel,(but layer very nicely over each other for a Bergamot/Juniper) This fragrance trails very nicely, haven't yet received a bad compliment. If you do not blend the Bond No.9 fragrances you're missing out, (I love a line that blend) The New York Patchouli makes a great catalyst if you're going for a long-wearing fresh combination such as throwing any of these fragrances from the line over it. -Fire Island (smoothes it with Neroli) -Scent of Peace (if you want to tame the Berg.) -Sag Harbor (to sweeten the citrus bite) or hell, throw some 'Juicy on that B**** and call yourself creative.

This is a really solid frag. It's not exceptional, and that's ok. This scent is light and fluffy for the most part, with a remainder of spicy/woody. Spray into your hair and clothes for maximum effect. One can wear this everyday, especially during the day. If you're looking for a cozy daytime scent that will make everyone you come in contact with want to stand a little closer to you, this is the scent. It won't knock your socks off, it will run its fingers through your hair and maybe give you a nice hug.

Fruity and summery. It has that bond base, somewhat reminiscent of a couple creed fragrances. definitely good, but not amazing. My perfume eating skin has this as a skin scent after 30 minutes. so probably 2-3 sprays is good for projection for a few hours for anyone else.

I really like this fragrance! Three words that immediately come to mind are: fresh, girly, and clean. However, this is damn expensive so I will have to survive off the ones I already have. Thank goodness for samples!

not at all what I expected. a very light, soft patchouli. I get more musk and rose than anything. little citrus, don't get as much as other seem to. I also get a lot of the lily. feels very soapy

I'm not sure why this fragrance is getting so many dislikes. It combines cool and warm freshness. This is sporty yet sophisticated. And this lasts and projects well.

I was wearing this today, and a coworker asked what it was. He remarked it reminded him of Drakar. I think he meant it as a compliment?

This smells like a mainstream men's scent. One that you might smell on a man in a club. I would love it if my man wore this! Performance-wise, It's pretty strong; as in one spritz equals a skin scent that lasts all day. It really takes a long time to evolve to the point of detecting the patchouli. I found the opening uninspiring. The dry down is worth it - -- for a man. I don't care to smell like this.

To my nose this is Bond No.9 (The self titled signature fragrance) that slightly tepid sweetness, book-ended by fresh top notes and woody base notes. I have to say as someone who owns the Perfume version of the signature (basically the same as the original but stronger and with the addition of Oud) I can't say I entirely dislike the smell. However, there's one crucial difference here and it's not what I'd expected (the addition of Patchouli) but a distinctly horrifying smell. I have a whopping 4 vials of this (obviously not a popular sample) and I had thought that it may have been a reaction with the plastic wrapper. You know? Those bon bon sweetie wrappers that the samples come in. I had struggled to remove the vial from the wrapper and some of the dye stuff came off on my hands and had this horrible pissy smell. I thought to myself I hope that's not the perfume! Unfortunately It was. Yes New York patchouli actually smells like the back streets of New York City, Urine and all. Just as you take in the sugary sweetness and generic 'Bond accord' a split second later it is soured with a sharp, metallic musk and what can only be described as a pissy smell. I hate to be crude...but there it is. The only remarkable thing about New York Patchouli is that there's no trace of patchouli in it! No hippie herbaceous dirt, or thick, creamy chocolate. Maybe that could be the piss smell, a metallic sharpness when interacting with citrus and cedar...who knows? What is known is that something is really wrong with this fragrance. Maybe some people can't smell that? Or like it? Nobody else has mentioned it in comments...could it be the humble Lychee causing such offence? I really don't know but I could never wear this awful concoction. Like most stinkers, when you don't want them to have great performance...they inevitably do.

I love the validation of retrying a fragrance and then reading an old review and being like..."You nailed it back then dude!" ...to myself. Kinda sad I know, but it's true. What I feel I NEED to comment on is the unrelenting and frankly horrible drydown. I applied it yesterday evening, when out for a walk in humid conditions, went to bed, showered this morning and reapplied another fragrance. I've been walking around in the sunshine all day and it's still, really strong! I'm amazed I can smell it through my shirt, and I'm not exaggerating to be dramatic, really New York Patchouli is atomic! Crucially there's still NO bloody patchouli, just a mental, cat pissy accord. What's even stranger is that....I sort of like it!!! There's still a metallic note of that 'Bond accord' of sweet citrus.

As a patchouli lover I was excited to try this one bur unfortunately it's not for me. A very clean, understated patchouli that I barely recognised as such. Maybe if I wasn't sampling this in the winter when I like to wheel out the heavy hitters like Psychedelique and Ligno I would feel differently but I suspect this is much too polite for me whatever the weather.

Where is the patchouli!! Nice enough general fragrance. Smells pretty fresh with the ginger and musk but there is an obnoxious kind of sour, dusty or powdery scent shortly after the opening that I don't care for. The dry down is just okay, nothing great. ho-hum.

Boring and generic musc perfume. Its not all patchouli scent. If you most most like fresh perfume, maybe you can use it and if you age at the 30-. But if you looking price/performance scent, its not this. Scent: 6/10 Long: 7/10 Sillage: 7/10

nothing special İMO. it is a fresh bergamot fragrance. it is not in class of Bond no9

Drydown smells like a sweat... I don't like it.

Thanks to a tiny beauty supply store near me that stocks the line, I've had the chance to sample many of the perfumes in the Bond no 9 line at my leisure over the past few years. Having done so, I feel safe saying that I don't like the Bond no 9 line very much. The first perfume I tried from the line was Chinatown. I bought it, love it and wear it to this day. Exceptional perfume. Since Chinatown, I've tried many others. Silver Factory is interesting (same perfumer, Aurélien Guichard). A portion of the line is innocuous and costs a lot. The bulk smell bad and cost a lot. New York Patchouli falls somewhere between the latter two categories. Top notes, innocuous. A hint of butterscotch, a large dose of root beer a bit of patchouli. Heart notes and dry down, a slender helping of Bond-ade, the house note and a heat mirage-like shimmer of cream soda. The Oriental is certainly nothing new in perfumery. The more recent gourmand/Oriental is similarly not untried. New York Patchouli is nothing new in perfumery, but specifically is nothing innovative in a line composed mostly of gourmand/Orientals. In this case, NY Patch skips the earthy, cold, dusty aspects of patchouli and focus on its upper register, which coincides with Bond's 'house' note. Name aside, Bond-ade is the key note in New York Patchoulu. I've written about Bond-ade in previous Bond reviews. To summarize, it is a woody-amber-based lingering note somewhere between gourmand and resinous. It combines a shrillness with vertigo and is difficult to tolerate in sustained exposure. New York Patchouli has a smaller portion of this note than many others in the line. It smells more like fruity hairspray than motion-sickness. Christ. I just read that last sentence. While writing it, in my head I was trying to say something nice about this perfume. Apparently I don’t have the wherewithal. I'll leave it at that.

Just scored a slammin deal on a 50ml bottle of this. Firstly, the patchouli i am used to is the heavy, oily "dirty hippie" smelling stuff...even the really good essential oil i have, same vibe. Skanky, but nice and woody-earthy.. ..anyway, this stuff, WOW!! I didn't expect it to smell so "pretty"---not to say that it's feminine either. What i get here is a woody-floral patchouli with a light pear-like fruitiness, some rose and a mild musky background. It's really clean, i didn't expect that at all. As time goes on, the woody-floral fades and the smell is ever so slightly sweet but rather kinda soured, not off-putting but I can understand why people say it smells sweaty or cat-pissy, i don't get that vibe personally but to each their own. Total shocker for me! Bonds are hits and misses, this one in my opinion is worth checking out. This is a 7.5 out of 10 for me, ot usually my style of fragrance but it really surprised me. Full disclosure: my wife stole it from me.

Sorry, this isn't a review. I have a gold spray vial The rep at Bond filled for me w/ a purchase, however, I forgot the name of it! I love what's in here, but have NO idea what to buy a bottle of! The perfume smells of Patchouli to me when I research the Bond 9 perfumes, this is the only one that pulls patch up. If I had to describe what this smells like ( that I have) I would say a spray of one of the OG strong Shalimars, w/ some patch added. Does anyone know if this could possibly be the unidentified Bond vial I have? Thanks in advance for any help/advice. We do not have a counter within 3 hours of me :(

Smells just like ombre nomade. Less obtrusive, and less masculine. But my question is, is this a masculine scent? I think it smells like one, amazon juked me. I thought i was getting lafayette and wall. They sent me this and bond no9 (gold). The bond no9 is definitely more feminine, absolutely unisex. But i only like wearing men’s fragrances. This might be too close to the middle for my liking. Let me know if its appropriate for men.

Although this may be targeted more for men I love it and I agree Caist this is def Bond and I love it along with Harrods Oud Patchouli, Agarwood, and the Holiday for 2013! I don't mind paying for it as long as it last and its something different from the mainstream. Looking for some new fragances any suggestions..I have dryer skin so I generally don't do anything that's not an eau de perfume...

I am not sure patchouli should be in the name. It doesn't play a major role. This is much more fresh, floral and citrus than dark, resinous patchouli. Its quite nice but NOT a patchouli scent in my book. Its almost an animalic in its use of musk. I think all of the descriptors at the top of the page are spot-on except for the patch.

This is a beast. Like this juice will literally choke you out ! The opening is entirely different from the dry down. I totally love how this evolves from one scent to another scent entirely. Very interesting and loveable fragrance. Unisex but for a very experienced nose. Nothing basic here. I really love it. Full bottle worthy !

I tested last month it's smells like fancy parsley mix with something cold, any way if you are using it stay away from Herbivores, I do have strong feelings they might mistake this smell . Longevity and projection are normal, smell 2/5 I don't recommend it at all for blind buy.

I wouldnt go out of my way to buy it. At the price i would get ombre LV instead. But now that i have it, i dont regret it and will wear it. Excellent for an intimate evening outing. Definitely not going to get people thinking its girly i have had various women attest.

Love this juice, in the opening it reminds me of aqua di gio that sweet lemony scent, I smell sweet lemons, rose water is amazing, and light flowers. this frag on me lasts 24 hours, and projects for 18 hours.

This is a very naughty one in my book. It is kinda fresh but on the heavy side. You definitely want to try before buying. I blind bought it and i like it. I dont love it but its okay. Overall - 6.5/10

Growing on me. I think its a handsome scent. The wood really carries. But when you get 12 hours in all thats left is the dried rose. Its nice.

Very nice with a touch of sweet patchouli,but it seems very familiar smell from somewhere.
