So New York

Only three notes?! Really? It seems much more complex. A woody, bittersweet chocolate mocha gourmand scent. I can't help but remember the best mochas I've ever had--the way the frothy milk caresses my lip and prepares my taste buds for the flavor of the bittersweet mocha. The chocolate in So New York is very light, like the dusting of bitter cocoa powder on top of the best tiramisu I ever had in my life. It was in Venice. The bitterness of the cocoa powder made my tongue pucker for a second until I tasted the mascarpone and espresso-soaked sponge cake. Gosh I'm hungry! I feel subtle hints of vanilla, amber, woods, and maybe even the teenciest hint of floral. There is a musty earthiness here that reminds me of patchouli. But I don't actually think it's quite musty enough for it to really be patchouli or to take away from this being a gourmand. I get more of a true coffee scent here, like a light French roast, than I do in New Haarlem, which is mostly like sweet maple syrup or some kind of instant coffee mix that doesn't actually smell like coffee beans. I really love that this is edible without causing a toothache. The perfect unisex gourmand. The only problem is that it only lasts 5-6 hours on my skin before I feel the need to spray again. That's why I got myself a big ol' 3.3 oz bottle, so I can spray to my heart's content!

I'm puzzled by the strongly negative reviews on here, and I really don't think this fragrance deserves so much hate. The only negative I see with So New York is that it isn't very long lasting, which given its retail price may be seen as problematic. Other than that, I love the how it smells. I don't get much coffee here (being a coffee addict, I need a strong roasted coffee note to identify it as coffee in a fragrance, the smell of a latte doesn't count), but I absolutely love wearing this chocolate - mirabelle combo (I will agree that there's patchouli in here too, most likely). Super yummy and cozy for the winter. I don't even mind having to respray during the day, since I'm stuck at home most of the time anyway during the pandemic. To me, this is a comforting, stay-at-home type of scent that you wear mostly for yourself, especially if you're a fan of sweet, edible fragrances (I'm usually not, but with So New York I'm sold).

the scent is really gorgeous, it's in the line of Mancera Rose and Chocolate, however I fall in love with the Mirabelle plum note in this. While Mancera really gives off chocolate coated rose, Bond no 9 So New York moves upscale, and I could totally see Saks Fifth Avenue while wearing this. Bookishbeauty was right, other site lists these notes for this perfume: Top: Bergamot, Osmanthus, Mirabelle plum Middle: Espresso, Patchouli, Milk, Muguet, Peony Base: Woods, Tonka Bean, Musk, Cocoa Powder And I do hope that Fragrantica would correct it. However the problem with this perfume is it's performance, the silage is just moderate, and within 4 hours or so it turns into a fleeting skin scent... Such a downer, I hope Bond will add more concentration on this one, because like I said above, the smell is gorgeous.

I know reviews on this are mixed, but personally I love it - it is a beautiful scent, the dry down is to die for! (I have been wrist sniffing for hours!). I get all the notes, but on me they blend seamlessly. I don't know why, but I really do get Givenchy Ange ou Demon vibes (alot!), but where as the latter is as subtle as a punch in the face, So New York is much lighter, quieter, softer, and just wearable anywhere if you want to feel uplifted and 1000 dollars! My only knock is that the opening is just a bit louder than it needs to be (and reminds me big time of 70s NYC for some reason), but it dries down in just a couple of minutes. It really is just gorgeous!!

This is a plum chocolate delete with this fant powdery aroma that is seductive and inviting. Can't actually say overwhelmingly that it leans more towards female or masculine fragrance side of the pendulum, I can say in my opinion it's straight down the middle. I can see where the fragrance has that powdery note in it, but it's a different time in fragrances, to were if done correctly it works for men also. I love plum so i'm a little biased, but dammit it's so front and center how this fragrance opens, and the sweet coco is great together as a sweet plum chocolate cake.

I love this fragrance. It's sweet, but not too sweet, and belongs to the first wave of patchouli-heavy sweet scents like Angel and Lolita Lempicka. However, it's a dupe for neither and is distinctly its own thing. Interestingly, it has both wheaty and soapy facets that with the chocolate and coffee are very lovely. I find that it lasts very well, and on second day clothes will have dried down to a soft white musk. More clean than gourmand, in my opinion, with possibly even a hint of tobacco. Androgynous.

I have become a "mixologist" with my favorite fragrances in this line, and today I'm wearing Perfumista Avenue and Manhattan body cremes topped off with So New York fragrance. I'm telling you - the combo is sexy and delicious! I've received numerous compliments on this mix! The blend of the spiciness in all three scents with the extra kick of the cacao in So New York definitely works for me!

i just purchased so new york and i absolutelly love it it is a wonderful blend of cocoa expresso bergamot musk and plum on my skin it lasts 7 to 8 hours projects well and has good sillage if you want a different sweet gourmand to wear in the fall and winter i highly recomend this fragrance but i most definatelly recomend to sample before you buy

This is my favorite Bond No 9, and it is in my top 5 fragrances of all time. I absolutely love it. It smells like you walk into a coffee shop while they are making a mocha, and the lady in front of you just literally powdered her nose. It is a chocolaty, coffee with just a bit of powder in it. It is soft and delicious.

This is one of those scents where people just think mmmmm.... they smell nice as you walk by . This is clean and unusual in it creamy goodness . So New York will smell differently on every person who comes in contact with it like people did with FRESH's MUKKI which what I associate This perfume too!!

Chocolate cake drowned in thick chocolate glazing, fresh black coffee grounds, thick gooey plum and finally earthy chocolate cakey patchouli. I'm a gourmand fan and this is probably the first or 2nd most realistic gourmand I've smelled. Very photorealistic chocolate cake.

Soft and beautiful. Non offensive. Very feminine. I smell amber but I know it is not in the list. Brand new to me and I know I like it. Perfect for all occassions.

One of my favorites fragrances reminiscent of Fresh's 1996 classic Mukki edp .

Well, if this is mirabelle plum I am smelling, boy they picked it way too early; it smells very sour on me. When I read here ( and also on Bond No.9 website) the only 3 notes of this perfume my first thought was: "they must have poured different juice in my bon-bon, by mistake" 'couse this is way too green, woody and aromatic smelling on me to be cacao, coffee and plum only. I get citrus and some floral too. Maybe my nose is blind to the main notes,(or my sinuses temporaly stuffed), but where is the stuff I am senting coming from? The longevity and projection on my skin are not great: I am waiting and waiting ... and waiting for the promised gourmand notes to come; by the time I can faintly detect something I have to rub my nose on my wrist. I still like it - it is just not what it should be. It reminds of the old and classic Paco Rabanne's Calandre, but the only shared note would be bergamot, and only if it really is in the composition, as some of you Fragranticians are suggesting. Strange, really strange ?! I will enjoy the sample but woud not spend $200.

I had recent occasion to wear this for an extended period, which turned out to be shorter than I'd have liked. It begins as a very gourmand interpretation of espresso and cacao with this nice opening of Mirabelle Plum. It's the plum that makes this interesting and feel like a very tasty gourmand, and for the first 20 minutes that's exactly what it is. Then it takes a turn and becomes very warm and innocuous. Once the plum is lost, so is the intrigue for the scent and the remaining notes simply feel like a mochacchino on skin but without any strength of longevity. While a nice fragrance, it didn't strike me as outstanding and far too subdued to feel a sense of character. Also, anyone who has compared New Haarlem and So New York would likely tell you that this is a creamier, smoother fragrance, but it lacks the projection and versatility. New Haarlem is a much more year-round scent where So New York is a cold weather (Fall/Winter) fragrance that simply melts away all too quickly leaving me wanting more but disappointed beyond the opening.

oh wow, some of the reviews here basically proclaiming that its the most disgusting thing ever. I don't get why its called "So New York" because to me there is nothing particularly New York about it. However, its a very pleasant scent. I probably wouldn't have bought it at full price but I got a great deal on it so I figured why not(blind buy) and since it contained notes of coffee, plum and cacao-all of my favorite things, I figured how bad could it be? I basically get chocolate with hint of plum, no coffee. Its not in your face scent and its not overwhelming in any way. Its soft and cozy. If you like gourmands and sweet fragrances, I think you would like this. It leaves a gentle trail and fades away to skin scent within the hour or so(at least on me) and not much projection which is my only complaint. With Bond, charging prices they charge, they really need to put more effort to make their fragrances longer lasting. To me, this is more of a winter/fall scent, it doesn't seem like something you would wear on a hot day

Bond no 9 SO NEW YORK does in fact remind me of the New York way of being, especially since the last time I was there I ate Lindt 85% cocoa chocolate and drank expresso! In this barely sweet quasi-gourmand composition, black coffee and dark chocolate mingle most enticingly. The cocoa is more dominant than the coffee, but the combination is very pleasing to my nose, as the final creation is not at all sugary. Although no florals are listed as notes, there does seem to be more to this scent than coffee, cocoa, and plum! I'm finding that coffee and chocolate/cocoa fragrances generally have good longevity--no doubt because of the oils in the beans of each--and SO NEW YORK is no exception to the rule. Recommended for gourmand lovers of less-dessert-like, non-vanilla scents.

This is so nostalgic and gorgeous. Definitely a unisex fragrance with a delicious but simple scent profile. Whatever weird combination of notes this is, it just works. The sour plum is the first note that hits with a mouthwatering introduction, then a strong burst of espresso and a powdery cacao in the dry down. There is also a resinous balsamic accord that lends a fougere quality to the scent so it veres slightly masculine. Elemi perhaps. It’s similar to Amouage portrayal woman. A suave guy with velvet ebony skin like a panther. He is wearing Tom Ford ombré shades, a dark purple suit with a silky magenta lining. He’s deeply engrossed in his endeavours and has a powerful aura and commanding presence.

So New York is an interesting mix of bitter chocolate and yellow plum. It smells somewhat sour and spicy, like an artisanal bonbon with red pepper flakes, a powdery cacao coating and plum puree garnish. Sadly, I don't get any coffee. It's one of the more perfume-y gourmands I've tried - I found it to be surprisingly wearable, and really enjoyed the scent bubble while wearing it - for a couple of hours, that is, after that it mostly faded away. I find zero similarity to Al Contrario or any of the Angel variants I've tried. It's a special scent, unlike anything else I've smelled so far - all in all, a pleasant surprise.
