Sutton Place

Despite kinda loving this, I can get behind people leaving poor ratings/reviews. The only niche thing about Sutton Place is its performance. This fills rooms like it thinks it is Amouage, but oh boy, let me tell you that farce ends there. Crumple up odds and ends of all your pleasant basic colognes into one perfume, and that is pretty much what this is. I can find bits and pieces of Percival, Sauvage Elixir, drydown of Dylan Blue, and I am sure there are others. Pretty much follows the premise of an Axe/Lynx body spray, but this is just taking that idea and doing it with quality ingredients. In fact, if I smelled SP blindly and were told it was a Versace frag, I wouldn't question it. But, in a world where most guys are wearing Sauvages and Bleu de Chanel's, any average person that gets their nose on you wearing this will think you smell damn good. For the record, this does smell good. Premium, yet unabatingly basic... It's like if Roja Dove were told to create an Axe dupe using his own materials. So what is wrong with Sutton Place? The scent itself is very alluring to the masses, not to mention it comes in one of the coolest Bond no 9 bottles, but the MSRP this goes for is gut-wrenching. I would be very underwhelmed if paid $400 for this. It's a joke. A glaring problem with a release like this from Bond is that it prices out the average consumer in the designer market who would be attracted to this, so a large chunk of the people getting their noses on this stuff and leaving reviews will be enthusiasts with different expectations for four-hundred-dollar niche items. Instead of offering something new, this is just reminding them of when they smelled those cheap rack scents as a newbie ten years ago. Downvotes galore. So why do I love it? I got my bottle for $156 Cad. FragBuy had a holiday promotional sale which, when combined with some gift cards, allowed me to knock this down to what it inarguably should be selling for at retail. This is an extremely solid designer category entry with good quality and a little extra oomph, and I paid a designer price for it. I couldn't be happier. I love Sutton Place, but I also cannot recommend it unless you have the ability to pick it up at a discount greater than 50%. TLDR; Smells good; the bottle is good; the price is a joke so offensive that it deserves to be cancelled on Twitter.

Laurice hit another home-run with this masculine, fruity Oriental. They say that you should never judge a book by its cover, but if you like brown crocodile with classy gold lettering, you will LOVE Sutton Place. Refined, elegant, sophisticated, mature, and wealthy are adjectives that spring to mind. Although tobacco is not listed in the notes, I get a sweet pipe tobacco note on the dry-down. Also, there is a strong fruity scent that reminds me of apples and pomegranate. Very Middle-Eastern. A scent fit for a king, with a price tag to match. Be careful not to apply more than two sprays because for the first two hours it goes into beast mode. Later, it fades away very quickly. Kind of the way a diplomat makes a good first impression and then moves on to the next person, place, or thing. But don't be fooled. This diplomat of a fragrance is not a one-dimensional, boring charlatan. It is the complete opposite. Classy to the core. Merci, Laurice. You're the best.

Not a super niche or complex fragrance, but it doesn't need to be. Sutton Place smells great, and can easily be worn as a signature scent. The leather and fruits are the most prominent, but it's a very smooth leather accord. The pineapple and vanilla give it a great sweetness, but without over doing it. Can be worn casual and dressed up, and can be worn by men of any age. Such a sexy fragrance overall. It also performs amazingly and lasts throughout the day. I love Bond No 9, however I do admit that the majority of the their fragrances, including this one are overpriced at retail. But this can be bought for a fraction of the price at discounters, where I absolutely would say it's worth it. Give this fragrance a proper wearing when you sample, and decide from there Overall: 8.5/10

This one is super tricky very good scent after wearing it several times but the composition is complex I don’t care what anyone says it smells like idk anymore lol but I like it a lot I hit the love button and the smell is just fruity...... idk what lol the pepper is a heavy hitter as well in this can be worn any season and most noses will appreciate it I believe after first 30 min has past it eases its pepper and the smell is I still say indescribable lol but it’s nice this should be one of there best sellers def

I don't really get the hate on this fragrance that much.. It starts out with a really punchy juicy bergamot followed with a tart note from the pineapple and a bit of an ozonic/ammonia scent from the cassis. That lasts for about 20ish minutes and then dries down into a soft leather musk scent. It doesn't smell very generic to me, or like axe either. It won't blow you away by any means but It's overall not a bad scent. There are better choices however I would consider this as a good buy as well.

One of the most slept on fragrances on the market. Great every day, every season, signature worthy scent. Smells super clean, fresh and the leather note isn't too overpowering and gives it a nice masculine feel. One of my, if not my most, complimented fragrances. Price is steep if you go to retailers but typically can be found at a reasonable price on discounters. Although high price isn't ideal it does probably help it not get overplayed.

I love this fragrance. Fresh citrus with a sexy vanilla dry down. Compliments galore. This is one of my favorite Bond fragrances along with Scent of Peace for men and Cooper Square. I get WOW head turning compliments with these fragrances. Bond gets a bad wrap from the guys but the ladies love it. I love the art of fragrances and I just like smelling good but compliments are a plus. You'll definitely turn heads with this one.

A nice smelling fragrance and appropriate for office and casual. Performance wise is moderate and won't offend anyone. Soft spicy, but overall well blended without single standout note. Sutton Place is an easy going perfume more into designers' realm. So, don't expect anything extraordinary or spectacular. Overall it's a 7/10, imo.

This surprised me as a nice , clean scent . Reminds me of PDM Percival but lasts pretty longer. The top orange and pineapple stay during the dry down. The dry down is nice . Has a good balance of leather and musk . I give this one a 7.7/10. Worthy of getting if you can get it from a discounter .

I have 45 bottles of niche perfumes and this is one of the best smelling- if not the best smelling scent I own. A delicious, unique, long lasting, masculine leaning unisex that should honestly be considered one of the GOATS. It blows my mind that it’s rated so low.

A lot of people hate on Bond for no reason. If you don't own the frag or have not tried it for real you should stfu. Nice fresh scent for the spring summer season that will get you compliments from the ladies. Last but not least it lasts all day long

I absolutely love this fragrance. Something about the leather and fruit mixture really makes this a sexy fragrance to me. It does lean masculine, but can be worn easily by either gender. Not too sweet, not too leathery, perfect.

This is very nice refreshing sent. Don’t understand the negative reviews? Very nice citrus and pineapple sent that dries down to a woody backbone. Could easily be a signature sent in the spring, summer and fall. Really nice.

My bottle's juice smells very good. I like it and i enjoy wearing it. Summer spring or fall. People compliment when I wear it. Got it for about 130.

If you go to Jomashop. The price is $170. At that price it is worth it. It smells amazing. You are not going to smell the same as others.

This mug is soooo good. Always like it when its not the most popular but shines for me. On clothes it goes crazy

Sutton Place This fragrance opens with a splash of synthetic pineapple, tangerine, jasmine and something that reminds of a late 90's, early 2000's fragrance. After the initial burst mellows out, you get waffs of patchouli, lily and leather. The mid hangs around and melds with the fragrance as it begins to dry down. In the dry down you get musk, vanilla and amber. This is a masculine fragrance, that is very close to being unisex. I would wear Sutton Place in the beginning of Spring or end of Fall, or any other “warm” day. Honestly, this may be an all year around fragrance, but I am not sure how it will perform in high heat or frigid temperatures. Due to that nostalgic DNA found in this fragrance, it’s a “yes” for me, full bottle worthy.. In my mind, I equate maceration with marination, and my bottle has been sitting for over a year. I think that it may have matured a tad. Make no mistake though, this is not a mass-appealing fragrance, but I thoroughly enjoy it. Thanks for checking out my review. The opening features a sweet and fruity bergamot scent that is very pleasant, making it an easy choice for any man to wear. This fresh aroma is complemented by a green note and a light hint of leather, adding a masculine and traditional element of a classic cologne. Eventually, the drydown reveals a vanilla and amber combination that reminds me of many popular men's blue fragrances. In terms of performance, I experienced excellent projection during the first two hours of wear. After that, the scent became closer to the skin, though I could still detect it around the seventh hour. Overall, Sutton Place is a pleasant and easy-to-like fragrance. My only complaint is that it isn't particularly unique. If you're looking for a lovely, everyday masculine scent, this is worth trying. However, given the price of Bond No. 9, there are many other fragrances you could purchase that would serve as suitable alternatives.

I'm still trying to decide if I really like this or not. The problem I'm having with it is that I don't really feel excited about it at all. It smells nice, it smells like a fresh spicy masculine scent, that could be used for a myriad of occasions, but it just smells...generic to me. Also, upon smelling this really close, and really concentrating on the smell, it has a dryer sheet vibe to it....or a fresh men's deodorant vibe. Someone commented that this smells like Axe body spray, and although I've not smelled that particular spray mentioned. I could definitely see that as a being true as that is the kind of vibe I get. I'll have to keep wearing this sample, probably will wear it again tomorrow and see what I really think.

Update: I'm doing a side by side right now and I 100% stand by my comparison. Sutton place is a little more floral with a touch of leather and less spice, but still very similar to DB. I will say that I dislike DB, but the subtle differences in SP make it just barely wearable. Still seems like a ton of money for what it is though. Smells like a marginally more refined Dylan Blue. If you like this but don't like the price, be sure to try DB before dropping crazy $$$.

Just bought a bottle of this at Bloomingdales, feel like I sold a kidney, $490.00!! It smells good, a little sweet but i do like it, i actually had Molecule 01 on when i sprayed the Sutton on to test and everyone said it smelled amazing (of course they did at $500 a bottle!). I like it though but i do not like the price, absolutely ridiculous, i was thinking it may be a few hundred but then again i was at Bloomingdales and it is a rather large bottle.

At first I get the citrus, peppery and fruity scents with a nice masculine woody base. I also get a green/grassy vibe as well. It kind of reminds me of a weak version of intense cedrat noise scent wise. The performance is not great but the smell is really nice and masculine. I’d say this is mass appealing and a gentlemen’s scent. If you can get a good deal I would recommend and I suggest to spray a bit heavier.

I was at Bloomingdales and sampled Lafayette street, bleaker st, chez, off Broadway, Wall Street, ans Sutton place. I loved them all, but Sutton place was the one I couldn’t stop smelling when I got home as the scent is perfection. Clean, sophisticated, unique, and intoxicating. Perfect signature scent you can wear anytime in any season. It’s absolutely stunning.

This is really interesting. I think it works in the same way that Aventus does, without smelling a thing like it. It opens pure and clean, soapy fresh and then over the next half hour+, it starts to open and let out smoke and leather and a definitively animalic musk. This is the womanizing, but disappoining grandson of an upper-east end old-money millionaire.

after sampling this fragrance. Its smells masculine and fresh.Great for warm weather. Nothing wow about this fragrance. Ive smelled better than this. For the price its a pain to spend this much money on a fragrance that is generic. I like the smell but the price kills me. Ima enjoy sampling this fragrance maybe a decant would be nice. Nice looking bottle.

Decent all round inoffensive scent. Can be warn night or day, hot or cold. Retail cost is bad value. Opens with a fresh Pineapple and cassis. Mid notes the dusty leather. Not a heavy leather, easier wearing. The pineapple stays all the way through and it settles with a vanilla, amber, musk. Performance is average 7.2

Is it a good smell ? Yes Does it remind me of junior high? Yes Something in the DNA immediately made me think of AXE and someone mentioned Old Spice Fiji. If I had never smelled those I would really rate this higher. Amazing design and honestly an easy reach so plus points for that. 6.7/10

Fruity, leafy, spicy, mild. Zesty. Moderately soapy. A leather note develops shortly after the opening and slowly settles as the dominant note, but remains subtle throughout the wearing. Quality leather note. Whatever else is in this, it’s not particularly harmonious.

Thought it was odd , tried it a few times since and I actually think I would pick up a bottle at the right discount. I get a fruity, slightly earthy, sharp (almost ambroxan like) opening that dries with a leathery musk background. Some people don't like the leather and I understand because it takes the scent in a different direction. I like the contrast of adding some masculine depth to the fruitiness, It's a "leather scent" that's much more wearable and neutral.

I agree with @Dre1019 and @Fragreek with this house and this bottle. I love Bond no 9 but it is just like a designer on steroids. They are punchy but simple I like them but would never pay retail. These are $250 fragrances not $400-$500

This might be a bit of a disgusting comment, but my brother likens this perfume to vomit, but I think the exact opposite, the smell of leather and vanillin is like relaxation after vomit, a relaxing scent suitable for every season.

It's not offensive, and I can see the appeal, but all I can think of is the CK Escape for Men I wore in high school & college. Much better than Escape on the dry down, but just not for me.

This is okay... it's definitely earthy/animalic. It's not listed but i feel like I get cedar from it. Definitely patchouli. Smells quality, but I wouldn't wear it, bit mature for me.

Smells like the designer stuff but there is a place for this on the market. Perhaps if you like that type of scent and you want it stronger and to project / last longer.

This smells like a stronger and longer lasting AXE body spray. It’s just a concoction of notes and doesn’t smell like anything unique, especially for the price point.

It is nice but something really annoys me and I think it's the leather. There are so many Bond men's that I do like though, like Lafayette St and Sag Harbour.

Pretty boring...BUT You guys want this to be better? Layer on TOP of New York Nights and thank me later.

Default scent for rich smelly fat men

Come on guys. No. I wanted to love this I really did. Conceptually from the location selected to the bottle design to the scent itself and it's performance: nothing matches up. It's disjointed at best. Your "wealthy, cultured, powerful" scent is an aneimic fruity freshie with impotent performance? For all the different citrusy notes, all I really get is some lemon and if I close my eyes and concentrate, tangerine-which does get a little stronger over time. It doesn't develop much on the skin otherwise. It's projection is a joke. It's entire scent profile is...lazy? I love some Bond's a whole lot but this was a fail on all levels. It wanted to be a freshie but failed, then wanted to be a barbershop at some point...and failed. I'm clearly not smart enough to get it. Either that or Bond has lost their mind. Scent: 6/10. It's not a garbage fire but it's not memorable or particularly well blended to me. Projection: 3/10 come on guys. No. After an hour it might as well be the ghost of residue past of a bath and body works scent. Decidedly "down market" from their target. Sillage: 2/10 for the first 30 minutes then nothing. No. Longevity: 2/10 yep. Two hours. Then it's a total skin scent for another two then it's gone. Would I buy a full bottle? No. Fail. No.

There is a note in here thats making me strongly dislike this fragrance, and I dont know what it is. Seeing all the notes, cassis is jumping out, as I dont have any other fragrance with that note, or even recall smelling a fragrance with cassis. Considering the description for cassis on Fragrantica is, Odor profile: leaves and buds of blackcurrants, also known as bourgeons de cassis, have a characteristic green & ammoniac scent reminiscent of "cat piss". I wouldn't be shocked if this is the God awful smell I'm picking up. Awful blind buy, test before buying if you have Bond No.9 in your city, as I dont. 3/10

I was intrigued by this new release when I first smelled it in the boutique. The subtle yet tasty notes of pineapple add just enough freshness to the warm and spicy background. I brought a sample home to try out in anticipation of Bond's upcoming promotion on 10/27. My findings are not positive. The opening is nice, but the pineapple is nowhere to be found after ten minutes on the skin. The scent quickly devolves into a generic, bland smelling cologne, with absolutely no character. IMO, not worth the $$$.

First wearing: Not impressed with this one. It reminds me of an amalgamation of Bond Montauk and Bond Harrods for him with added leather. The bond DNA is super prominent in the opening and mid, as is an designer esq tonka. It's not a bad frag, and the bottle is cool, but there's better options from the house and in general. After around, 6-7 hours it smells pretty good but you'll need to bury your nose in to smell it because by that time, it's a skin scent. Scent 4/10 Performance, 7/10

It has strong performance in both terms of longevity (7-8 hours) and sillage/projection. It also has the same effect like Bond No 9 New York Patchouli which means that it burns my nose. Main players here are acidic and very spicy cassis, patchouli, bergamot and pepper. The other notes are quite discreet. I recommend it for fall and spring, daytime.

I hate to be a Debbie downer here, but this smells nearly identical to Axe Phoenix body spray (and lasts about as long.) If it weren't for the price tag, I would think that this was a piece of performance art commenting on consumerism and its effect on the art of perfumery. Alas, it's just a lazy attempt at making a buck.

I'm not even going to try to write much about this one, the lady who tried selling leather scents recommended this , and I can easily say there's way better out there, especially for the price that it costs to get something that is leathery. It is so BORING and mediocre- really. I wouldn't even bother testing this.

This is supposed to be the most approachable scent from bond #9. Its ok, not as vile as some of the others. I still get a heavy astringent/ alcohol, bug spray, and patchouli mix from this. I really tried to like it but I would rather wear old spice than this. Laughable pricing.

If you want to pay 300$+ to smell almost identical to John Varvatos Vintage go right ahead. Good job Laurice, way to be different... Cool bottle, but another regurgitated men's fragrance.
