Il Bacio

I looove to apply Il Bacio right out of the shower, during Summer heat-streaks, when it's far too hot & humid for heavy frag's, make-up, & blow-drying hair. So, my wet hair goes up into a simple ponytail, accented by stud diamond knot earrings, Zero make-up (except a swipe of juicy lip gloss) completes my look, I spray Il Bacio lavishly, & I'm otd. Often honoured as "THE original, reference fruit/floral, done right". Church. There is nothing quite like Il Bacio! Deftly captures the sweetness of Summer Fruits & Florals, but AVOIDS added sugar! Absolutely dripping w/ Sun-warmed, oozing ripe fruit juices just picked/off the vine- A stunning, fem Florals/Fruits at Heart! Blended / balanced to perfection. Il Bacio (EdP, w/ dabs of extrait) epitomizes an under-appreciated, under-rated, under-priced perfume- A true treasure! Others compliment my perfume every time I wear her :) Borghese really created a timeless masterpiece w/ Il Bacio... Tender Florals, Luscious ripe Fruits, grounded on a simple bed of clean, White Musk & Woods! Sillage & longevity aren't impressive- I re-apply every 3 hours or so- Layering w/ strategically placed dabs of the parfum significantly improves projection & duration of wear. Frankly, her price point (EdP) allows me to apply lavishly- It never becomes cloying. (I carry a purse atomizer for re-application when I'm not able to make it home to re-apply.) It seems impossible to over-apply- The more heavy-handed I apply Il Bacio, the more frequent compliments I receive! Lack of staying power is my only complaint, but Il Bacio is SO glorious, that I'm willing to re-apply frequently (every 3-4 hours). Oh, for God's sake ~nyoka~, how can you expect the fruity cocktail to be classy????? I find your statement about the fragrance being suitable only for those with not yet fully developped olfactory skills pretty offensive. If you're looking for a classy juice - use Chanel No.5. If you're looking for a fun, everyday fragrance - use Il Bacio. I don't get some of you, do you always review fragrances using CLASSY as the only criterion????? I am sure Princess Borghese did not have ''Classy'' in mind when creating Il Bacio. What she meant was a delicious fruity elixir, seductive one, with a great lasting power and noticeable sillage, good for ladies at ANY age. The plum and peach make it feel like summer all day long and the exotic melon and passionfruit make it feel so mouthwatering and tropical! Borghese proved that it does not have to be all about flowers to make the perfume special or feminine and appeal to the masculine part of our population :-) My husband loves it just as much as another fruity genius - Delices de Cartier! No doubt, Il Bacio will be my FFF (forever fruity fragrance). The bottle is not as posh as Delices but simplicity seems to be better, I have no problem fitting the bottle into my handbags' pockets! P.S. For an unknown to me reason - although the fragrance is a really great quality, it only costs approx 20.00 including delivery in UK. Isn't it a steal????? For that price, I'll be damned if I don't get myself the 100ml bottle :-)

The Short: I love this fragrance. Floral and Fruity presence with long lasting wear. My signature in the 1990s. The Long: I love big bold throwback scents. This is luxurious in it's make up. Beautifully blended with really impressive notes of fruits and florals. A stunning concoction that rings true on both skin and clothing for me. It does not morph in my opinion but, it is far from boring. It like an 80s scent but, without the animalic notes. It is versatile for a really any time. Has decent sillage and long lasting wear. I have the original (purchased in the 1990s) and a brand new bottle (purchased in 2023). The newest one seems to wear as beautifully as the old. Back up bottle --YES. Idk when/if this will be discontinued. If I see it, I buy it. The bottle is beautiful on a vanity. The golden honey colored elixir and the red top are fantastic. It is easy to hold and the atomizer releases a misty cloud. No splotches or squirt marks on your clothing. It is comfortable to hold and not likely to slip out of your hand while applying. I wore this on the regular as a teenager. YES, a teenager! Still an absolute fave. Husband loves this one on me.

I have been collecting perfumes for a couple of years, and finally got around to checking out this frag. Everything that I buy is a blind buy because I live in a valley of a mountain in the middle of WV. No shopping...literally. I love the notes listed here and am a fan of soapy scents. My signature is Chloe New. When I first sprayed this on my arm, I felt like I was transported back to the 80s with the strong hard core scent. It is fruity, but not modern fruity. Dense and powerful. Even those hard notes smell good on my skin. I am really glad I bought this for the drydown. If you like soapy scents, on my skin it turned mildly fruity in the background, with a soapy scent as primary. The drydown actually felt like it was becoming more and more soapy. I LOVE that clean smell. What is great about THIS particular soapy scent is that it is lasting. Not a dud like SO MANY of the newer frags that you pay a fortune to buy, only to find that they last 30 minutes total. This is different. I think this will become one of my staples. Since it is strong, I will probably wear it when I am working at home primarily or on weekends. This scent is for ME.

I blind-bought Il Bacio about 15 years ago after seeing the bottle sitting on the dresser of a home that I was looking at with a realtor. The whole bedroom and hall outside that bedroom smelled so good, a sweet fruity freshness that I'd never smelled before, so I assumed it was due to that perfume. When I first saw the bottle, I loved the shape and angle as well as the cheerful red top, so planned to buy it. I did and wore it frequently over the first few years I had it. Unfortunately I found myself tiring of it when the bottle was about half empty; I've never smelled such a blatantly fruity fragrance, the fruitiness sticks with me through the life of the perfume (it lasts a long time too, a plus for those who continue to enjoy it!) it makes me laugh a bit now, but the smell began to make me think of jam due to the plummy-fruity richness. I continue to wear it a few times a year, but have to be careful and either put it on clothing or down on my knees, ankles, away from my face. This continues to be a like because overall I think this perfume has a lot going for it, I just have to indulge in small doses.

Edited to say: What happened to this once gorgeous perfume? I ordered it from a reputable online company November of 2011 and threw it away. I don't know if the perfume was a knock-off, had gone bad, or was reformulated. This is not the perfume I once knew and loved. If anyone knows anything specifically about a reformulation, please let me know. Thank you! Original Review: The first time I ever smelled Il Bacio my eyes flew open and I was 'home'. It's sharp floral attributes went right to my brain and stayed there. Imagine a floral bouquet...reds, pinks, whites and greens with a magical current of electricity running through it. That is Il Bacio. What starts out as a heady, full floral perfume graduates into a fresh, clean, gorgeous fragrance. I would say its unique elixir is comparable to Alfred Sung's Sung perfume. I usually have good luck finding this at TJ Ma**...not very expensive for such a special perfume. I don't see it there very often, but when I do, it is all mine!

One word only: HEAVENLY! I don't know if it's helpful, but this is what I think about this perfume. I ADORE IT! I had doubts about it from the first time I bought it, as it was a blind buy. When I sprayed it on my wrist, it really 'slapped' me but with a very possitive surprising way. So feminine, ladylike, joyful and COMPLITELY floral...THE ultimate floral perfume. It lasts really long, it is not heavy at all but it can be, if sprayed too much. One or two spritzs are enough. I think it would be nice for everybody, even younger girls, but it is rather a mature scent. But what a nice mature scent! I have to say that I like honeysuckle very much, maybe this is why I like this perfume so very much! It definately worths buying though. Only negative: The bottle. Is rather cheap and not very nice compared to the perfume itself, which smells really expensive.

I was told IL BLANCO means "a little kiss" way back when this was introduced. And to me it still is. Today I am wearing the very last of a bottle my youngest son in his 20's bought me the Christmas after his Dad/my husband of 30 years died. Even though I do not have a signiture scent. I enjoy to many. There are several I always have: GUCCI Rush and Good Life by Davidoff. Right now I am trying Christian For Her by Christian Audigier and Celine from Celine Dion. Trying to finish a bottle of J'adore by Dior which is beautiful but not. Point is I learned IL BLANCO really means "The Kiss" but to me it still means "a little kis" because that's what it inparts on my skin and why I still enjoy wearing it all these years later. And yes I will buy another bottle.

I was at Kohls the other day, testing fragrances looking for something "new" that appealed to me. Normally I like the "spicy" orientals but I also love some of the clean florals (rose, lily, honeysuckle, etc...). To me this fragrance is the embodiment of "clean". It totally stuck with me and I kept going back to it, so I bought it and am not disappointed I did. It opens with a rich aroma of light lovely florals. As it dries down there is a hint of succulent ripe fruit, but not at all cloying or artificial. It reminds me of spring ripening into summer. I love to wear it fresh out of the shower or on especially dreary winter February days (like today) to brighten my mood. It's a deep quality fragrance that has been overlooked by many. Highly recommend!

I Have 2 bottles of this and I have always loved it. In fact it is one of the perfumes I use sparingly because the perfume websites don't seem to have much of it. I'm worried it has been D/C'd ?? There is a rich fruity smell that smells like no other. Out of the 189 reviews here, only one person has come up with a SMELLS LIKE. That speaks to me that it is pretty original! And BTW -who said a perfume with fruits in it can't be classy....who is making up these rules?? It is the person who wears the perfume who is classy -or not! If you are an OVERSPRAYER of even good "old French house" perfumes -THAT is not classy. OVERSPRAYING not classy. Subtle is what class does best - not whether there is too much fruit....

This was the first truly adult fruity-floral I fell in love with. Very few can compare to it's nostalgic quality. It opens as juicy peaches and follows on to a rose-honeysuckle combination while keeping that underlying juicy peachy note. It settles into a lovely peachy, rose Amber. The older versions were more intensely forward on the sillage. The newer version introduced a lemony quality which fades while it evolved to its classic profile. I like both versions. Borghese did a good job modernizing it with the lemony layer. However, if you're a purist for the older version, keep a bottle for awhile and age it as that will bring back the original profile.

This was my signature scent back in high school in the 90s. I remember I wanted it badly, but it was out of my price range at the time and my very thoughtful friends pooled their money and surprised me at Christmas one year, probably 1994. This was such a big deal at the time, and I will never forget their gesture. This was the first "adult" fragrance that I ever owned. I felt very sophisticated owning and wearing this. I've been wearing this one since the early 90's, and I still love it. Not much more can be said about this fragrance that hasn't already been said; however, this fragrance has been and will always be a classic for me; soft, sweet, juicy, and ever so slightly spicy. Il Baccio is the perfect name for this fragrance because it is like a vibrant sweet kiss that one will always remember, and that one will always be remembered by.

I wore Il Baccio in the early 90s. I found it to be a deep, rich, fruity scent on my skin. And it lasted and lasted. :Longer than any other perfume that I've used. I was digging around in the bathroom vanity cabinets and found a bottle of lotion of the fragrance. The spray is gone but I'm going to use the lotion. I love the perfume. It wraps you up in deep and powerful scent.

I have a bottle of this that is 30 years old and it still smells great! This is one of the strongest perfumes I have ever used. Just one spritz of this perfume is very strong and lasts over 24 hours. It’s still very strong in the bottle. To me this smells like a more powerful, heavier & spicier version of Clinique Happy. Both are two of my all-time favorite fragrances.

I first discovered this fragrance in the mid 90's..I had I tiny 4ml bottle (can not for the life of me remember where it came from!) but I fell in love with it. Il Bacio is one of those rare perfumes that is great in warm and cold weather, its fruity enough for summer but soft and sweet/sexy enough for winter. I wish it was more readily avilable in the UK..

This is such a unique scent. I have had someone smell this fragrance from the bottle and tell me they didn`t like it, and smell it on me and tell me I smell wonderful. It is a mature scent, not for a young girl but definitely for a sexy night out on the town. It is definitely "the kiss" a sweet sensual kiss that makes you long for more.......

LOTV, peach in the top then a tart ripe plum; in the middle, the melon, a juicy melon and freesia takeover the lily and peach. I love this, and I don't like modern fruity florals. This is a bit classic but not dated or old lady. It's juicy and blooming. The base is a honeysuckle beauty with a depth of sandalwood and musk.

This perfume is definitely for a confident, mature woman . This scent reminds me of a classy regal beauty , who holds her head high and smiles as if she knows something the rest of the world doesn`t . I feel wonderful when I wear this perfume . The sillage is great , it lasts throughout my work day !

Love this, Il Bacio is one of the best perfumes I ever had. This is a classic but ever modern frag with a elegant and nice sent. I wear this since 30 years and love it since I got it first time. A great perfume. Whish Borghese would made another one with this quality. The lasting power is very good.

This is my "reset button" perfume. If I've had a bad day, if I am testing a new perfume and am dissatisfied, if nothing else feels right in the world, Il Bacio sets me straight. It is luscious and fruity yet smells like fresh air. I want everything to smell as good as Il Bacio.

Theres something about this perfume, for me, that's hard to forget..and I love it!! This is definitely one of my favorite scents. It was my mothers and I had to have it for myself. It definitely didn't take many sprays to do the job..but it is timeless and beautiful.

Also checked the missing notes in one of my vintage books, which are the following: - Orchid - Pear - Osmanthus - Iris - Violet So now it is clear that all the notes mentoined + all these add ons, make it quite a complex creation!! WELL worth the money for sure!

Take 5 plums & 2 peaches. Mash them with amber & cream. Warm it on medium heat. Then pluck out 8 honeysuckles and add them to the creamy fruit compote. Simple but delicious recipe for a refined, classic, sweet floral perfume. LOVE IT!

Although the notes stated here are beautiful, it is even a far more complex perfume than it seems with more notes even! It is sheer excellence and they are giving it away almost for free!! WONDERFUL!!!!

My second favorite perfume. So sensuous and feminine. I prefer to wear this scent in the evening because it is stronger (but not overwhelming) than my usual scent and long lasting. European luxury!

I have this fragrance & loved it. I still have not worn it for awhile. I need to dust it off & start wearing it again. I always enjoyed it. This fragrance always lasted a long time on me.

I was completely obsessed with IL BACIO for about an entire year, about a decade ago. I doused myself with the stuff constantly and could never get enough. I remember at one point I was packing up to move to a new state, and I realized that I had managed to amass an entire bag of empty IL BACIO bottles! Only my extreme fanaticism can explain why I had not simply thrown them all out, as the least interesting aspect of IL BACIO is its bottle... I haven't worn IL BACIO for quite some time, but after an unfortunate testing experience earlier today I decided to set the Sugar Babies aside and take up this comfort scent and guilty pleasure again. Happily, it still seems nice to me, albeit not quite the same. Now I smell the flowers more, especially lily of the valley, and the composition seems less like a syrupy liqueur than it did back when I might have actually imbibed the liquid, so mesmerized was I under its spell. No other perfume familiar to me smells anything like IL BACIO, it is truly sui generis: bursting with sweetness without any vanilla; bursting with both fruits and flowers and yet without being offensive; finishing in a deep ambery-musky-wood saturated with the fruity-floral aura. Today I am happy to see the neat logical structure of the notes, though I do not believe that I perceive them in the tripartite division of flowers, followed by fruits, followed by amber-musk-wood. Perhaps my nose somehow understood intuitively that IL BACIO was a well-crafted frag. Borghese makes excellent bath and body products, which I have used for many years. Why they continue to nearly pay people to take this elixir off their hands remains a mystery to me. It's so much nicer than the ridiculously low price would lead one to believe!

Could be love. Il Bacio Borghese was a "like" when I tried it. It might be more than like, as I no longer have it and find that I miss it quite a bit. It's a difficult one to explain. Not the fragrance, the appeal. It's nothing special, really...yet it is. A BIG beautiful slightly exaggerated honeysuckle and a juicy, lip licking peach combo for the most part. It's heavy on the floral, you will be able to appreciate the jasmine as well. It's equally heavy on the fruit. The peach is served in a basket with passionfruit, which I normally find off-putting to my less than tolerant floral/fruity nose. Passionfruit always seems to promote a dusty chalky 'aftertaste' for me in fragrance. That's the case with this creation as well. I just don't seem to mind. It smells synthetic and a bit dated. I'm ok with that! There is absolutely no mistaking it as a fragrance from the last few years, despite the floral fruity burst. It also manages to be just the right side of 80s fragrance making. It escapes the heavy hand of the fatal 80s florals, which I have found to be thick and insistent, more often than not. The honesuckle is present and accounted for, to be sure, but it is nudges at your senses throughout the long day, instead of pushing, 80s style. It's smells 90s ready and easy to wear, which I will, once I get it back! No, it's definitely love.

When I came into the room after my first spray of "Il Bacio," my 15-year-old son asked "What's that smell?" However, he thought it was "orange and cat pee." But 15-year-old boys think everything smells like either shampoo or cat pee. Without taking his opinion too seriously, it *did* make him take notice. My first impression was of overwhelming, choking honeysuckle. I live in the Deeeep Southern US, where honeysuckle starts to smell overly ripe for a few weeks every summer, and it's not very nice. But that lasts only a minute or so. When it's gone, it smells very smooth and lightly fruity, without powder or obvious musk. I find myself craving it when I'm wearing something else! It starts to fade after an hour or so, but keeps coming back with renewed vigor. I'm not sure whether it is really fading or if I just can't smell it on myself after a while. I have to put on more of it than I would of something else, but it lasts a solid 5-6 hours. I think I really like this!

I heard about this perfume when I was a young college kid in the 90's. My good friend and I were discussing perfumes and she said I know you've tried Il bacio, right? I said, no, tell me more! I was intrigued and the name sounded so exotic. So, I sampled the juice and bought a bottle. And that was no small task for a poor college kid because at that time, it was a bit pricey. I felt so elegant wearing it and continued to wear it for a couple more years. I suppose it was my "signature scent". It was a sweet, soft and juicy peach scent and lasted a decent amount of time. I'm surprised to see that there are no vanilla notes listed, but the honeysuckle is what gives it a sweet kick. Anyways, I'm glad to see Kohl's still carries it because it brings back fond memories. Now, I tend to wear more of the celebrity, gourmand scents, but I may have to pick up a bottle of this in honor of my college days!

This smells lovely and feminine. It is quite strong after the initial spray with its all floral top notes but takes just a few minutes to dry down to a truly sweet and alluring scent that lingers on for hours. To me, this is an inoffensive white floral scent with a hint of fruits and mint(?) swimming underneath, very charming and poised. It reminds me of Diorissimo a little, probably is the lily of valley they both have, definitely the more confident one of the two sisters. I adore this perfume and I wish the marketing people at Borghese would give the packaging a makeover - it's kind of Marie Antoinette-esqe at the moment, isn't necessarily unattractive but it certainly looks too 'old school' to appeal to its possibly new perhaps younger target market. The scent its self is a jewel that has passed the test of time, a little polishing would surely make it shine.

Such a pretty fragrance! I have the current formulation. There is a light, sweet innocence to this kiss, not romantic, no passion. It’s of a time when young women travelled to Europe with a chaperone aunt and eveyone was called Miss, Mr., Mrs., Madame. The rose is early morning fresh, supported by one of the prettiest, most transparent musks I’ve ever smelled. Refined and understated, very well blended. It lasts well, but it’s close and soft. I wear it to bed sometimes and it smells so airy and a little sweet in the morning. I purchased it at Ross for next to nothing based simply on it being Borghese. Il Bacio may be one of those weather and temperature-sensitive scents - the fruits may be more evident to me in warmer weather, the amber and woods may come forward in the cold. This is a happy surprise, the kind of blind buy we hope for!

This is another one that's been hanging around in the back of my mind (next to Mariella Burani) begging to be sampled. I guess I need to listen to my subconcious more often! I love this stuff! The top is a very fresh floral green (wait a few seconds before you sniff due to a slight alchohol burn-off) verging on carnation but not quite. The fruit makes it's appearance right away, just-ripened (not heavy or syrupy at all) and is backed up by a strong cedar background. I do pick up some violet sweetness but it blends in well, not too sugary or overbearing. I will admit, the top and middle are slightly mono-tone but the note combo smells delicious and isn't boring at all. I have a feeling this will be a go-to scent I can appreciate for many years to come. Nice job, Borghese!

I am not a great lover of fruity florals.I usually prefer chypre, or oriental florals,but when Action recommended it,I thought I would give it a try. I love the floral opening. The freesia, and honeysuckle are delightful and then it warms up with a creamy floral/fruity heart, not too sweet, but sweet enough to be feminine.I must admit that don't smell the woods, but the amber at the end is nice. Pretty good lasting power, about 4 hours, and wears close to the skin, not a lot of silage, which is good for hot weather. So if you are looking for something a little lighter but still with presence, give this one a try. It isn't expensive and it smells lovely, sweet and creamy, very harmonious. I am really enjoying this new discovery. Thanks Action

I agree with previous reviewer's descriptions: heavenly, ladylike, joyful, mature. But not mature as in old-fashioned, but rather mature as in elegant. It reminds me of something my classy mom might've worn in the late 70's, and she did use some Borghese facial cleansers and lotions, so I'm wondering if maybe the same scent palette was used back then for those products that is in Il Bacio. Although it is undeniably beautiful, for some reason I cannot sink my teeth into it the way I'd like to. I think my olfactory sensors must be tweaked by all the vanillic and woody orientals I've been inhaling recently. "Hello, my name is candymarie and I'm addicted to vanillic and woody orientals." "Hello candymarie."

I wore this out tonight! It’s perfect for this time of year when our weather is starting to get springy but you still have to wear jeans and a sweater out! It’s such a warm fruity floral, more floral than fruity, with a warm woody base. I wore Bob Mackie for years and that, in my opinion, is more fall/winter. I do see the similarities with Volupte, which I also have, but that’s a bit sweeter. I like Il Bacio better! I had always thought it would be a deep sultry scent due to the color of the juice and the burgundy cap similar to PS Design. I would’ve never pegged this as an early spring scent but it’s perfect! I really enjoy it!

I have been having such a Borghese moment over the last couple years. I feel like they’re so old school that they were already a momma and nonna brand when I was a kid, and I’m middle-aged. But I’ve learned not to write them off. You can get amazing skin care hauls from them sometimes, and I love some of their products. Just recently, I received two full-sized bottles of Il Bacio with a discounted product haul, and I’m not mad about it. Il Bacio is an old school white floral, but I like it a lot. It sits on the skin in a classy way without being overpowering. I think it’s really time to rediscover this brand.

@SmokeySings78 et al. who don't care for this fragrance: if you're at all interested, you need to find and smell the vintage. I didn't even realize that Il Bacio was still in production until I happened to see it at Kohl's. The current incarnation is pleasant-but that's about the highest compliment I can give it. The original is delicious. Look for the vintage EDP or parfum (with Roma * London * Tokyo on the bottom sticker; I never purchase a fragrance online if I can't see the manuf. info on the bottom). If it's got the Borghese web address on it, it's NOT vintage. Don't pay a lot; you don't need to.

Testing a tiny drop left in a vintage mini. White floral, dries down quickly and softly into a honeysuckle jasmine lily mix. Perhaps the top notes had gone as I did not really get alot of fruity notes. Perhaps the peach is there. For white flower lovers who want a softer vibe than the boomers of the 80 ́s this one could be for you. Sweet but softened with greens also. Sad when only a drop remains...Another day, another drop of perfume. Great to try them. This perfume house seems like pretty good quality.

This scent was my signature scent in the early 90s, and I wore it on my wedding day. I bought a new bottle last year and was disappointed that the formulation has changed - the full-bodied, fruity note had been overpowered by the bottom notes, so that the sparkling opening notes were dragged down. It's not nearly as sultry and charming as the older version. Or maybe it's a simple matter of -- I'm not a girl anymore.

Friendly, floral, fruity, sweet fragrance. It begins with strong floral notes a lot of Lilly of the Valley and rose. Then the melon note follows in the mid with a prominent amber base. Longevity is 2-3 hours, soft sillage. Smells sweet, clean and very feminine. Not a unique fragrance to my nose. A rather generic, pleasant, unoffensive and complementary fragrance for any casual occasion.

I dearly love this fragrance. However, it does not hold on me very well. I need lotion underneath. Since this basically does not change much from application to end, I can carry it in my purse and reapply. Despite it not holding well, I intend to keep on buying this beauty. This is a very adult floral. It would go well with a little black dress and pearls.

I love this fragrance due to the memory it evokes. Its a powerful, strong woman scent. I get honeysuckle and spice. Its complex and demands respect. Mysterious and smells much more expensive than what it costs now. I remember getting it in Lord and Taylor back in the day. Shame its not able to be found that easy anymore. It really is so good!

This one is a very interesting feminine classic. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled anything that smells like this in my entire life. It’s so esoteric in nature that it’s good again. It's almost orientallike that it makes you feel middle-eastern. Somewhat recommend. It's not an amazing scent though 7.5/10

I remember seeing this fragrance back in the 90's but never smelled it. I was able to snap it up for a low price, so I couldn't resist. I don't always like fruity florals, but Il Bacio was a pleasant surprise. The perfect mix of fresh-cut flowers and fruit. Not too sweet. Just right.
