Boris Bidjan Saberi

I'd been enjoying wearing fragrances from houses like Mad Et Len and Nasomatto for some time, and had no intention of changing that... until I received an order of 11 by BBS Bamba 2s direct from Boris's team in Barcelona. They must've spritzed the packaging and box with this scent. I had the packaging next to me for the next few days, and kept smelling wafts of this weird, alluring, and eventually extremely addicting scent. I didn't even know BBS made a fragrance, but I started searching after a few days because it reached a point where I HAD to know what I was smelling, and where I could buy it for myself. Obviously, after seeing reviews, it's easy to write this one off as a "miss". But then again, so is fashion in general. Someone into more traditional styles of dress would find Boris's mainline or 11 line of more techwear-focused pieces extremely off-putting, while others who gravitate toward darker, more brutalist, technical, dark, and/or experimental styles might find many of the pieces as grail items. While some types of fashion, music, and art are much more "safe" and stay within the relative boundaries of what most would at least find "inoffensive", BBS has never subscribed to that mentality. If you're the type of person who shudders at the thought of being completely forgettable, benign, inoffensive, beige... give this scent a try. Perhaps because it's based on Geza Schoen's Molecule 1 (pure Iso E Super), the pure synthetic molecule reacts to peoples' individual body chemistry more than other scents. My partner tried it on, and it took on a harsh, acidic, almost gasoline-like scent, while on me it expressed much more subtle warm spices, leather, and the slight glue scent that almost has an acetone-type quality (in a good way, if that makes sense...?) It's strange and avant garde, but the way my body chemistry reacts with it, it turns into one of the most addicting, alluring fragrances I've tried. Definitely try a sample before getting a bottle, but don't be scared off by the strange notes and polarizing reviews. I'd always rather go for a "you either love it or hate it" approach for most things - only mediocrity is found in the middle.

The smell of horse leather is one of the unique ingredients of this perfume. I found this out after contacting the Boris Bidjan Sabery fashion house in Barcelona. Fresh and dark start, settles into leather and dries into tobacco smokey base. The scent is ultra avant garde. The longevity is not good, at max it stays around for two hours. I think this may have been intentional given the elements, such as Industrial glue would be very overpowering in a long-lasting scent. I am a huge fan of this scent because of it's use of atypical notes. It is worth having, because it is a one of a kind scent.

I never thought I’d be a glue sniffer, but I’m addicted to this waxy industrial glue scent. Conceptual scent as well as the notion of do we buy fragrance to please oneself or please others? I have yet to have anyone comment on me wearing this scent but I love smelling it on myself.

This smells like grass on a cold day or a nice salad served on a metal plate. I bought it due to the industrial glue note and hearing it described as “grass thrown on a factory floor.” This description overstates the industrial/chemical/edginess of the fragrance and set me up for disappointment. The glue is barely there. It is a subtle, nice and fresh scent, albeit pretty cold. If you’re hoping for realistic VOCs this isn’t it. It did not beat out Black Sea by Lorenzo Pazzaglia for best dark/clean/industrial men’s scent for me, although that one is more blue and this one is more green.

Opens bright with rhubarb and industrial glue before settling back into a warm, gently spiced leather with just a bit of tobacco sweetness. I don’t find this to be particularly out there — it’s actually a pretty friendly, traditional masculine-leaning leather. Performance is fleeting and cologne-like (though to be fair the skimpy luckyscent dancer may not be helping matters here). For now, it’s just okay to me, but I’ll be revisiting in the springtime when the bright opening might appeal more.

Opens up with a green terpene and a pretty fleeting industrial glue scent, before settling into a cold aura, fresh cut grass scent--it's almost as if the terpene quality still clings onto this profile. But as many times I've swatched this beforehand, the profile is the same, I was hoping for the glue facet to stick out in the main profile but unfortunately this isn't it. It is a unique green fragrance, so it gets points for that. Projection becomes rather poor with average performance otherwise, as much as I WANTED to like this, there wasn't enough glue to my taste here.

Seems very light, with almost no projection or longevity. Hate to say that it is all topnotes but it is a temptation. Not getting leather, although I get the grass and - especially - the glue. Certainly not a love and I think, at least for now, not even a like. Will come back to it in a week or two to give it another try.

It smells like the car seat in a 7 seater station wagon.. Instantly made me sick and brought back my car sickness days

lots of gin, green not much leather though agreed. I can't smell it at all on my skin after a few minutes ;(

This fragrance smells primarily like industrial glue, with the strongest and most aggressive note being the glue itself. It is mixed with the atmosphere of a cheap factory, some beeswax, and a faint green nuance. The overall effect is crude, synthetic, and deeply repulsive to my nose. By contrast, the newer release, Angir, is the complete opposite for me and has become one of my favorite fragrances.

I like it but it vanishes a bit too quickly for me. Definitely has some sheer kind of chemical cleanliness on top of a fresh leather. Really lovely freshness actually- one of the few instances where the "grass" note actually smells a bit like grass. It brings it into this dewy aquatic territory that is an unusual compliment to the darker notes, which here are not very textured and rather more a shade of black and a smear of liquid smoke. It's on the more "chemical" side of leather materials rather than the smoky-woody side. Unfortunately without a bottle to spray myself I can't discern a whole lot else as it's fairly weak. The honey seems like and outline of something mildly sweet on my arm, but I sense that it could push this is a slightly agrestic kind of direction which I enjoy.

Boris Bidjan Saberi 11 is an intriguing scent that captures the raw, tactile quality of its namesake’s design philosophy. It opens with a sharp, industrial accord reminiscent of industrial glue—a bold, almost astringent start that commands attention. As it dries down though, the fragrance evolves into a rich, worn-in leather note, evoking the texture and animalistic scent of an old, well-loved horse saddle, resting on top of a tobacco smokey base. There’s a rugged elegance to 11 that makes it distinctive yet wearable, balancing its avant-garde edge with a grounded warmth and comfort.

A delightfully shocking juxtaposition of horse leather/industrial chemicals when smelled close to the spray point and an intoxicating freshness when smelled at a distance or in sillage. Almost smells like a more masculine iteration of the idea of the 2011 Comme des Garçons Eau de Parfum but without the floral overdose. Longevity is decent but projection is very low and quickly becomes a skin scent.

I read the description and expected something massive.... sprayed it on my hand and got....a blast of grapefruit..... It was sheer and light and reminded me a bit of Pamplemousse Rose from Hermes. I am a guy that likes scents like King Kong's jockstrap so this is a pass. Cheers Matz Ridderström Stockholm Sweden

VanirCO nails this review. Given BBS style I was afraid his perfume would be overly industrial but hiring Geza to make this a wearable industrial leather was a brilliant touch. I definitely get a brief tart rhubarb at the top. Not bad!

this perfume for my nose opens up as a massive opium note. and then settles in an inkindustrial glue note. interesting but poor performance

this basically smells exactly like an original chapstick, you know the flavorless one that comes in the blue tube

Not so much leather, more like an ink-inspired fragrance with lots of gin (reminds me of Royal Mayfair a little)

Smells strongly terpy and green. Vetikolacetat on a bed of freshly tanned hides from maryam
