Black Mango

very interesting and complex scent! it has enormous projection and takes you on a journey as it dries down. i tested it on paper at the store and then came back a few days later to try it on skin because i had a craving to smell it again. it layered deliciously with creed's oud zarian. it's sexy, but not like a perky young woman in lingerie. it's horny in a biological, primal, depraved kind of way. fully grown body hair, yesterday's discharge in your underwear, panting and sweating on your mattress next to dishes you should have taken to the kitchen days ago. thinking about that date you went on five years ago and wondering what went wrong. asking yourself whether you'll ever be able to feel that way with someone again. the opening smells like plucking an overripe mango off the tree. it's so ripe that it has already lost some of its sweetness to the funky sour flavour that consumes fruits as they ferment. mango is certainly the focal point, but i can clearly smell the environment as well. it's syrupy; oozing nectar through the mushy and wrinkly peel. i can smell the green leaves and soil too, well-fertilized with manure and the fallen mangoes that have begun to decay on the ground. as it dries down, my plucked mango meets the same fate. it turns from orange to brown and white; the freshness fades and i can smell it rotting. it's a little fecal, but still recognizably mango. there's something else animalic in there. something sexual. this perfume combines disgust and delight. it's depraved. makes me want to bite someone. i want to have sex, to smell our secretions mixing together. maybe we could do it in late summer, in the muddy dirt underneath some stone fruit trees. they're past their prime, but we aren't. anyways, this is a great perfume, although not very wearable unless you're trying to fuck someone yucky style!!!

9/10 I REALLY like this one. It has a modern, silvery/smoky oud that shines above a surrealist juicy mango. One spray is plenty (walk into the spray, don't spray it directly on you). As it develops, there's like an olfactory tug of war in a very interesting way I've yet to see another fruity fragrance do like this before. The fruit is so tempting, you want to inhale more, but the oud makes you hesitate and resist taking in too much at once. I truly don't get the "corpse, toilet, rot" notes some folks seem to get from this.. lucky me? But I quite enjoy the scent journey of this one when used in moderation. I'd wear this to outdoor events in the summer for sure. As the mango fades away, it does develop from a day to night fragrance with more of the smoky woods coming out later during wear. A touch hard to pull off for EVERY occasion, but I'd need to experiment still to find the best uses. I wouldn't be put off trying this one from reading the other comments. Totally worth a sample at least. I'd just use it very mindfully with little expectations at first.

Mango opening is nice but the drydown for me is where its at. It harsh, heavy, I definitely get a faint gasoline vibe mixed with leather and a light oud and there is something animalic/body odourish that is a turnoff but also addictingly keeps me coming back and smelling. It has one of those smells that your nose tells you you shouldnt like but your brain is turned right on and you just cant help yourself. The scent lasts all day. Light all frigging day. Kabukimono below me hit the nail in the head. Described it exactly as I was fumbling trying to do. This scent is a 9.5/10 for me

Black Mango from BTSO Perfumed by Violaine Collas has a photorealistic mango opening with a smoky oud funk (though not as much as I'd like), I feel it's oudian adjacent and similar to some other fruity leather-oud fragrances on the market. The mango lassi creaminess with subtle vanilla is a nice touch. Certainly an artistic blend and this could be the best mango scent I've smelled from a fragrance. Highly wearable and a must try if you have the opportunity.

Out of all four new releases, this one is my favorite 🤩 The opening features juicy mango 🥭 with a bit of tartness, slightly milky or yogurt-like. It’s so beautiful and realistic! 😍 The composition is quite airy—not overpowering or overwhelming to the senses. If anything, it might just make your mouth water 😄 because it’s so juicy! I’m definitely rushing to buy it as soon as it’s available in the EU.

I love it. Couldn't stop smelling my wrist the first time. However, it is HIGHLY polarizing. I was told it smelled bad more than once. I was even told it smelled "disgusting, like an animal" I bought it cause I liked it, but now I won't use it cause I don't want to smell "like a disgusting animal" to others. It's just sitting there. Think twice before buying.

This smells so good. The start is very rough and is NOT mass-appealing, but after 10 minutes it smells AMAZING. It smells like a rough mango and with oud and something else rough and something else sweet. i can imagine the most manly Jungle explorer that has been fighting a giant snake and is now covered by mango and snake chunks 10/10

This was a suprice! Was expecting a fresh and fruity mango, but this is dark, dirty, and leathery! Animalic at it's best! The ripe, over cooked mango dominates the opening, but developes into a mango heavy vanilla bourbon leathery scent. All time use, however I find that it shines at it's brightest used on those warm summer evenings.

Once you get past the opening, this one mellows out beautifully! Very nice mango, orange, vanilla and leather that blend together seamlessly. This is like a niche, more unisex version of Power Of You with animalic undertones. Monster performance, last for ages and projects strongly. This was a great pick up!

Deviating from what’s other day about the opening, that’s probably my favorite part about this perfume. The dry down however just isn’t for me. It smells like an old and overripe mango mixed with milk. It’s shame, I really like mango perfumes and it caught my attention on paper and off the opening. Ten minutes after that, you want to clean it off. HOWEVER, upon giving us a second try the dry down is actually not that bad. Dare I say I grew to like it actually. I think the opening is just what captures me so much. It’s enough for me to want to buy a 50 ML because of my love from mango fragrances.

Blast of mango gummies and other artificial fruits, also get strawberries distinctly. Not a fresh or green mango, it’s definitely fruit candy and something oud like. Mango for winter, or summer if you’re fond of making yourself and those around you a little sick. Bold and brash, elegant this is not. Dry down is less in your face with sweet leather dominating with something orange blossom like. A bit too cloying for me.

I bought the discovery set and accidentally sprayed this all over my coffee table. It’s been a week and I still smell it when I sit on the couch. Juiciest mango I’ve ever smelled. Like if you set a mango on fire and added wood chips. I haven’t worn it on my skin yet but I’m excited to. I heard it’s quite masculine, so I gotta be in the right mood first.

My only experience of this was on a spritz of paper in a department store. It is very very strong. To me it smells like a chewy mango gummy sweet that has fallen down a handbag pocket, which somehow makes it smell incredible? Definitely polarising due to the longevity, but I would consider buying this as a summer evening into nightfall scent.

I absolutely loved it from the moment I smelled it on a test strip. I love how intense and warm it is. Reminds me of my home tropical country. Should've known to walk into it instead of spraying on my skin, nonetheless, I'm quite literally obsessed.

Sweet and intense mango fragrance. At the beginning it smells like skittles candy. Definitely for night. Not a warm or hot weather environment. On a summer night with a good a/c environment, maybe is a pass with no more than two sprays.

Black Mango is chaos in the first blast. Like melted mango Hi-Chews packed into a metal tin and lit it on fire. There’s that gummy fruit chew texture: thick, bright, a little plasticky sweet, but immediately shadowed by this smoky, tangy creaminess that’s... kind of addictive? Kind of horrifying? Like a salted lassi curdled in the back of a cab. A very warm cab. With oud air freshener. (I mean that in a semi-complimentary way.) The oud here isn’t the regal rosewood type, and more musty garage floor than palace. A slight dash fecal, a splash tarry. That animalic edge that leans feral if you spray too close. Like whatever fruity illusion the mango had is immediately drowned in thick, resinous bass. Something about the transition magnetic, with the way an extra syrupy mango suddenly folds into something dry and almost leathery. Dried mango skin dusted with ash and spice: kind of masala effect, but burnt. Smeared across skin. Heated by the body. Eventually it settles. Less edible, more masculine. Less fruit stand, more smouldering man in silk shirt sipping vaguely fruit-flavoured whiskey at a rooftop bar at 3 a.m. The mango’s still there, but ghosted almost til overshadowed by musk and woods. My key takeaway from this experience? Lesson learned: one spray. From a distance.

Opens with an unmistakeable aroma of Tormentiol (an ointment of potentilla extract, zinc oxide and borax), joined by a very syrupy mango that is both artificial and yet starting to rot. Dries down through mold, burnt plastic and char (possibly because of the wood notes), earning the "black" in the name on overtime. Sillage that Saddam's mustard gas would envy. A menace in public transport. Can and will attract bugs and confuse wasps to the point of hesitance between bits of real apricot jam on the plate or fake mango fumes on your arm. Its reign of terror continues for hours and persists through scrubbing with antibacterial soap. Fortunately my skin chemistry blocked the more fecal notes from evolving. I have seen so much advertising within local influencers and decided to give a try, so bought a sample 3ml. So... Contoversal feelings! Defiantly it is unique! When i sniffed it first time... It was was maverlous, the best realistic mango I have ever seen / feeled + a little bit leather. So fruity, so fresh, so real! Than I put it on my skin and.... OMG, but I wan't to cry! About 40 - 60 minutes I felt mango + strong leather smell, which was not very nice, sorry, but like from toilet.... After an 1 hour... Just STRONG leathery smell was left (too male for me), and somewhere far away mango scent. Dissapointing, long lasting. Not telling its bad, just not suits me! My advise- try before buying! Besides all - Black Guava is so Perfect for me!

I am SOO done with this fragrance I work at a shop that sells this fragrance and almost every day I show it to my customers especially because it's summer (JUST BECAUSE ITS FRUITY NOT BECAUSE ITS A SUMMER FRAGRANCE) Every day I go back home, I clean myself with soap, wash my hands several times (especially because I prepare food). Today, I made chicken soup, I touched everything with my bare, clean hands, washing them between every step... AND MY HANDS STILL SMELL LIKE THIS!!! I swear I would rather smell more "Secretion Magnifique" than this, I smelled this I think more than myself. Don't have ANY doubt about the longevity in this fragrance.

Mango lovers will probably adore this. It smells like mango and leather. It feels like something I should like but something has gone wrong. Oud and sandalwood start to appear later and I prefer how it smells once it settles.

Starts off with super sweet mango, but smells like leather indefinitely. Not the biggest fan, but it wasn't the worst leather scent i've ever had.

My first thought on this one was that it smells like a fake mango, or an overripe mushy mango. I almost wrinkled my nose. Three sniffs in it comes to a point where it smells like artificial mango candy with an almost burnt plastic quality to it? On the paper strip it soon dries down to a pleasant scent, with a smooth sandalwood and warm and soft leather. That is what saves this one and aaaalmost makes this bearable. The scent smells better for each sniff and I get hexed into believing that the mango is no longer rotten. So, I am spritzing it on my skin in the hopes that the warmth will do it more justice than the paper strip. The initial smell is the same; overripe mango that has been lying on the kitchen table for a week too long. It is very intense and the burnt plastic quality is reading more like an open paint can. If anyone can relate to my struggles, I will tell you that this smells like IVF injections. There is something behind the chemicals that tries to tie this down to a sweet scent, and the more you let it dry the better it gets. It almost feels like scooping out the mushy mango into a blender, and sinking down into a warm suede sofa to enjoy a mango smoothie and drinking it with a metal straw. Queue the oud. When the oud emerges, I am clocking out. I actually considered washing this off my skin. It is unbearable on my skin. It makes me smell like a street in south-east Asia with open sewage. There are stalls along the way that sells sweet sweet fruits and apothecaries with cold and perfumed air conditioning to try to hide the smell from the street. But to no avail. I didn’t scrub this off, and when it has dried fully into my skin 6 hours later it is in fact okay. It is more like how it was on the paper strip with that creamy sandalwood and a touch of mango and vibrating vanilla. But, should it really take 6 hours to get a tolerating version of this fragrance? I am landing on a dislike for this.

Black Mango by BTSO opens with stilton blue cheese and mango. Is this durian fruit? I've tried durian fruit a couple times several years ago, and I don't completely remember what durian tastes like, but I feel like this perfume smells like durian, which is insane. I remember describing durian fruit as mango with onion, garlic, and maybe cheese. Strong cheesy oud that just doesn't quit--this is a mango lassi with blue cheese--very savory in spite of the juicy mango. I tried to wash it off and only made it angry. I love Black Guava, but Black Mango is a pass for me. I do, however, respect how daring this is.

Wish the fruit notes would linger more. Liked the mango opening (didn't get much orange), but within 30 minutes it gets way too leathery & smoky. I know fragrance is very personal but I find this is more of a guy fragrance because of the heavy leather & smoke. I tried it twice just to be certain. I'll give it another try next winter to see if it's better in cold weather.

I wanted to love this, but the dry down removes all of the mango, and you're left with a woodsy smell. I wanted sweet mango throughout, not momentarily.

Very mid shampoo style synthetic mango. The oud is too faint, you can barely smell it, its more of an animalic accord than oud.

I usually love sweet niche perfumes, but this one is something else. I sprayed it on paper at the shop, put it in my leather bag, and 24 hours later it was still screaming. Nuclear performance. The opening is a clear mango – sweet, slightly synthetic but juicy and addictive. Then the dark side appears. Foresty, woody, leathery, almost like standing in a cold winter forest right before sunset. The sky is deep blue-black, wind is sharp, trees are shaking their leaves like a quiet melody. It feels cold, shadowy, mysterious. Definitely a winter scent; wearing this in summer would be impossible. (november - early march) To my nose it leans masculine. The leather and smoky wood settle stronger than the mango in the drydown, and even days later you still smell that sweet mango ghost underneath. I couldn’t clearly separate the vanilla. The color of this perfume is bitter dark brown, like fireplace soot. Heavy, sticky, love-or-hate, hard to wear but unforgettable. Same “nuclear bomb” projection level as scents from Tiziana Terenzi esp. Kirke If you like bold gourmands with a dark woody twist, this is a wild experience from Born To Stand Out.

I have literally created an account here just to rate this perfume. When I was in school, we had a 3D printer in a classroom that would fill the hall with the smell of melting plastic when used. It burned your nose. We would all hurry past because of how strong it was. That is what this smells like. Can slightly smell the mango, but it’s rancid. Has a strange note that’s like all the unpleasant artificial smells of a cheap cigarette without any of the nice tobacco notes. I got a sample of this, one spray and it will not leave. I have washed my arms in hot water and dish soap and it’s still on. I can’t get it off. Washing it seemed to make it worse. It smells so artificial and a bit like petrol, but not in a nice way. Headache inducing. If you wear this in a poorly ventilated room you should be taken out back. It’s an olfactory bioweapon.

I’ve smelled over 1,000 fragrances in the last 8 months so I’m pretty tolerant of a wide range of scents. And all I can say is, by a mile, Black Mango sits comfortably at the top of the Worst Fragrances Ever Made in recent years list. This smells like rotting mangoes thrown into a pile of other rotting tropical fruits with worms and feces. Yes, there’s a fecal note in the drydown (even on the paperstrip). I almost threw up in the store when I smelled it the first time. I never turned feral like that in my life. Whilst true that fragrance preference is subjective, fragrance quality is not subjectively evaluated and it is measured by a set of standards. It has the worst scent quality with the strongest sillage and longevity — what a nightmare.

MANGO FROM HELL when I first sprayed it on paper, it smelled so juicy-like a real mango, so I decided to spray it all over myself... it was pure suffering, i had to take off hoodie that i sprayed it on. I was literally suffocating because of the smell. NEVER AGAIN, someone even said " whats that burning smell ", EMBARASSING. I now know why its called black mango, because its BURNED. If I would smell this anywhere at a store, job, in public I would leave and run far away.

My disclaimer for this review is the fact that I can only judge based on first impressions, but the first impression was so bad that I wasn’t up for giving this perfume a chance. My initial thoughts on the top notes were straight up car tires and spoiled mango. A synthetic mess that is reminiscent of the carcass of what once was a juicy mango. The sillage and projection are amazing, I just can’t get over this rotten and plastic smell...

I love this house: Mad Honey, Drunk Lovers, Drunk Saffron. And I love mangoes. But this...this is truly...horrible...and I have a tolerant nose. No way was I gonna wait for the drydown. My little sample vial went right down the chute. Buh-bye!

This brand is pure product, in the sense that K-Pop boy- and girl-bands are prefabbed and stylised, which makes a slight bit of sense given (purported) BTSO’s Seoul origins (since more or less acquired by L’Oreal). Before even getting to the overpriced Extrait Extrême line itself, the packaging deserves comment...and by comment I mean “extrême” derision. The sample set comes in the most excessive, annoying, and offensive packaging I have ever seen. Changing from the former red-on-white typography to a nearly monochromatic 90 percent black on maroon, the actual names of the individual fragrances are printed on the end cap of each box (once you can get excavate them from the giant enclosing box, sheet of cardboard telling how “wild” and “individualistic” each drop is, and sealed with Gorilla Glue containers) in about 3 point type. This probably doesn’t matter assuming each scent smells as bad as the other. However in a huge san-serif font, on the side of each individual box, is emblazoned “WHO F*****G CARES?” Obviously not the manufacturers, but the edgelordiness is 100 percent Fremdschämen. The Black Mango itself (once I got a magnifying glass to finally figure out which one it was) is, as others have pointed out succinctly, revolting. Such mango as there is rotten, not overripe rotten, but “left in a closed recycling bin in the sun in Miami for a week” decay. After the initial blast of foulness, the oud is diaper-change-on-an-airplane powerful. There have been a run of wildly overpriced, yet also exceedingly, almost competitively, terrible and disgusting releases this year, from this house and some other niches. I wonder if the whole thing is not some kind of either elaborate joke, or clever tax write off.

This was so good, I paid retail and go it straight away and I never do that. Juicy rubicon mango, super sweet but not overbearing (atleast to me) but with this base of oud and leather, beautiful fragrance damn near as good as 1907 from BTV that's how good it is. 9/10.

The mango note is strong, refreshing and nice but is ruined by the strong leather note and makes it smell a bit nauseating and strong petrol like and slightly faecal as it doesn’t work. Would have been way better to have a chipre or citrus note instead.

You come back from your vacation and wonder what the hell is smelling so freakin bad. You find a avocado on the kitchen counter except it’s no avocado but a rotting mango that will turn into something that emits radiation any second.

Black Mango is a rich, dark mango scent with a thick gourmand character. It has a tropical warmth to it, but still comes across refined and well put together for an evening out. Very enjoyable scent, and the performance is excellent.

Dear @Partypuff124. I have an honest question about your point of view. What do you find masculine about this fragrance? I'll love to try it but I just don't want another gender less Dolce Melodia type of stuff.
