DGAF

DGAF is my first try of the house of Borntostandout, via their Dark & Drunk Discovery Set, purchased at Twisted Lily, a spicy blend of incense, pepper, sandalwood, rose, musk, sage, and bergamot, a bit fresh, green, warm, and resinous, but mostly spicy and woody, really a classy, versatile blend that, while more apt for cooler weather in terms of its spiciness is still pleasant enough and not too heavy for year-round wearing. It’s sophisticated, feels a bit reminiscent of some classics, while still being a bit modern and provocative, very nicely put together. I immediately regard it as an apt cold weather signature scent, perhaps a little masculine stereotypically but overall pretty unisex. I recall seeing one source describe it as an aromatic fougere but I wouldn’t quite call it a fougere, myself. As with the rest of the line, DGAF is EDP concentration and priced at $210 for 50ml, sold via a few boutiques / shops in the US like Ministry of Scent and Max Aroma. Overall it’s a great first impression of the house, even though it was seeing Drunk Maple that first drew me to the line. DGAF performs well and is very useful and classy, and the pricing is fair enough for current nice perfumery, but it’s not cheap, considering that something Robert Graham Valour accomplishes a similar result, in my opinion, whilst being much more modestly priced. I wish a travel size were available for further testing / less volume, but I’ll have to consider this one some more, though it is quite great, overall. 8 out of 10

I got the Dark & Drunk vial set, and DGAF was one of them. I didn’t care about DGAF before, and all I wanted to try were Smoking’ Gun and Unholy Oud, but this one nailed me. It’s so fresh, light and unique. I was afraid of the pepper note, but I didn’t get it much on my skin, so yayyy. It’s unisex, and suitable for daily and for some hangouts. I would get this as a full-size bottle because I haven’t had anything like this in my collection. So amazing !!!

Unisex, fresh, powdery, aromatic. Office safe yet not boring. Currently becoming my signature scent. Very fresh and long-lasting. Dry down is more incense, sage, and musks. Powerhouse and lasts all day 9+ hours on skin. Not so extreme or crazy as some other BTSO fragrances.

It's light and fresh, but the sandalwood, pepper and incense is there too. Might go ahead and buy this one. This lands exactly in the middle of unisex, imo.

Sexy. My husband and I would fight over the last bottle of this. Hands down.

DGAF clearly borrows its DNA from several YSL fragrances, including La Nuit de L’Homme, La Nuit de L’Homme Bleu Électrique, and especially L’Homme Ultime (which I believe has been discontinued). It literally smells like a fusion of those three scents in roughly a 25% - 25% - 50% ratio; so, DGAF leans much more toward being a “safe” designer scent rather than a true niche fragrance that — as the name would suggest — “doesn’t give a f***.” It’s fairly fresh, powdery, aromatic, round, and pleasant. The musks come out more in the drydown and are quite convincing. Throughout the development, I get very little incense, and the sage isn’t particularly prominent either. The citrus notes are maybe just a faint whisper in the opening — honestly, they could be removed from the note pyramid altogether, as they’re barely noticeable. Longevity is over 12 hours within the scent bubble, with weak projection and sillage. I actually prefer it to all the YSLs it draws inspiration from, but I’d only buy a full bottle if I could find it at a fair price — meaning, what I’d expect to pay for a good designer scent under €100/100ml. At €190/50ml, it’s a hard “no, thanks.”

DGAF opens with an undeniable cool composure, like a crisp, no-nonsense breeze cutting through a sun-drenched morning. There’s a distinct aromatic sharpness at first, like the fresh snap of crushed sage or an evergreen needle crushed between fingers. It feels almost brisk, sharp, yet it’s tempered with a laid-back woodiness, like walking into a room with polished leather chairs and sleek wood furniture—a kind of unapologetically clean masculinity. You can just tell that it doesn’t care to impress, but still manages to radiate a quiet self-assured charm. Never overly aggressive, even with that almost meditative calmness in its core—soooo nonchalant. Has that sexy not-trying-too-hard vibe, while being completely, effortlessly magnetic. A fragrance that says something without screaming it; Quiet luxury comfortable in its own skin; Confidence that doesn't give a fuck.

As soon as this hit my skin it was a LOVE -- INSTANT LOVE -- however, it came across as ENTIRELY De Los Santos, which is NOT BAD at all, it's just something I already own and already love, so, I don't see myself hunting this one down, but I will HAPPILY recommend this to all and sundry. Earthy, doughy iris with the smoothness of cashmeran and a musky sandalwood. Utter bliss. This could be a signature scent, I feel. It elevates my mood and really cheers me up. I already have an FB of DLS, so, sadly, I won't be hunting this one down. But if you don't have Byredo in your neck of the woods, and you have BTSO, this might be right up your alley...

Fresh and clean minty and musky scent with lovely cooling spices. It has some very light animalic nuances but it actually smells really cool and sexy. However it’s quite heavy on synthetic molecules that makes it radiant and long lasting but also sort of making my nose numb a bit.. Follow me on ig: scent.guide

very cool first hour of wear. fresh scent, i would wear in a grey hoodie and baggy jeans however after that hour it starts to get sweeter and warmer, disappearing completely

A citrus metallic sage, reminds me of some Creeds.

Very underwhelming. Sampled this multiple times and it’s not a bad scent but it’s not amazing either. Name doesn’t match the scent at all, unless they meant they dgaf about making a fragrance that stands out. This smells like a designer mall counter in 2015. Smells very familiar but not amazing, just kinda there. For $250 I expected a scent profile with something more unique. 5.5/10

Nah fam that some grandma shit

I tested this blind like I do most (meaning putting all the samples I'm not familiar with in a black bag and picking one out, not looking at the name or notes till after wearing it all day). This opened bright citrus, with an aromatic undertone, and while at first it may have a slightly leaning feminine opening, it becomes more of an aromatic and generic (but nice) clean masculine leaning aftershave feel. Here, the notes that stand out to me after a bit are the bergamot, citrus, and hint of pepper, while sage, sandalwood, maybe a hint or rose, and balsamic notes play a more supporting role. Others don't really show their side. This is a relatively safe and friendly (not born to stand out) fragrance. It also sits between a skin scent and moderate, but does linger longer at an intimate scale. I didn't really get a scent of it after an hour or two unless I brought skin to my nose. Like many from this house it is over-hyped in it's name. As in "we DGAF to take time to make any connections between our marketing, branding, and fragrance naming". For me this was another disappointment from a brand I thought was going to provide some radical DGAF stuff, but I guess they mean they DGAF in a very different way.

No incense whatsoever. In fact, not much of anything. Maybe some sandalwood? That's about it. Zero projection. I DGAF about this scent.

This is amazing. It's clean and fresh, yet long lasting, rich, and complex. Each note makes its appearance separately. It's like a softer version of a violet-heavy men's cologne, though not feminine. It's solidly unisex, but it's not a harsh bergamot and spice, it's smooth. Now I just need to find a discount bottle because I do feel it's slightly overpriced. I'd pay no more than $130 for this.

Opens with a slightly sharp citrus note which is fleeting. Soon the violet/sage combo comes into play and it lasts and lasts. There is a subtle metallic nuance here which is far from unpleasant and screechy. One of the more conventional BTSO’s but it’s not boring or mundane. As others have noted it’s very aromatic and well put together. Well worth checking out and very smooth indeed

Rather than just post a meaningless negative comment on a perfume I at least try to understand what I expected or didn’t like about it. I can’t think if a single smart thing to say here, it’s just not good. Strong aromachemical smell, no sillage, no longevity, and maybe a little citrusy smell in opening. Sour and musky like a bad yoghurt taste you can’t scrub off your tongue.

Violet, dry lavender, hint of anise, wormwood, tonka and cedarwood. Hard to pinpoint to be honest. Smells like a very aromatically focused fougere with some sort of creamy sweetness to it at the bottom. One of my favorites from the house even though it's a tad bit too purple/green-hued herbal on my skin.

For anyone looking for 5 or 10 ml samples i get mine at Scent Angel, decent prices and free shipping, not as many samples as Scent Split, but a good selection and better prices, btw, if you don't see something in brands, try typing in the name of the fragrance and see what comes up

Too much cashmeran. It could have been a nice perfume but you can't smell the other more inspiring, natural, nuanced, better smelling notes. Imagine putting stickers all over a beautiful paint job on a beautiful car.
