Drunk Saffron

This fragrance has been a wild ride.. The notes had me eager to blind buy because I’m a lover of all things saffron and boozy. I was excited to get this full bottle at first but upon first sniff I hated it. My nose had a visceral reaction to the screechy saffron note that plagued the entire opening, mid, and dry down. It was so potent my nose burned and I had to scrub it off. I figured I would give the perfume some time but after three weeks and it still kept smelling so terribly wrong I decided to list it on Mercari in a bundle with another fragrance and after a couple asked me to make it a solo listing I decided to wear it one more time before confirming to basically get rid of it and that’s when my mind became confused because suddenly after not touching this fragrance for a couple weeks after my last failed attempt it decided to smell so different. The saffron is still there but it’s not as loud and it’s just enough to spice up the booze and the deliciously sweet plum and vanilla notes. Even now as I write this there’s a plum vanilla saffron combo drizzled in booze wafting up under my nose and it’s intoxicating. The combination of notes is sweet and there’s that saffron bold from the leather mixed in but I swear the plum and vanilla sweetness cuts through everything in the perfect way. It now makes sense why some refer to this fragrance as that sexy mysterious vibe. I saw that one reviewer said this fragrance is what the picture catwoman to be wearing and I does make sense. This fragrance is not for the shy timid types to stay in the house. This is a sexy, bold, and almost dirty fragrance not because any of the notes are animalic but the scent gives bdsm vibes. This is what I imagine a dominatrix wearing because it’s oozing sweet and sexy while still having that dark edge. This unisex scent leans feminine to me if I’m being honest simply because when these sweet notes drizzled in booze and sin hit my nose it makes me think of a dark mysterious woman ready to spend the night showing off her kinks proudly. I haven’t had any other fragrances from BTSO but this really does stand out as that sexy bad bish. I’m so insanely glad I did not end up selling this because fuck this is an intoxicating scent profile and I’m so in love. Such a masterpiece of sweet booze and sin blended to perfection.

Utterly unique, rich and a bit royal to boot, Drunk Saffron smells like a glass of lush red wine that’s been spilled on a tufted brown leather couch in a slightly-spooky, stately manor that reeks of old money. Behind that couch, the wine has splashed across a burgundy wall. Or perhaps that isn't wine, but rather a spray of blood, as something about this witching-hour fragrance calls to mind the macabre and old-fashioned world of an Agatha Christie novel, where murder mysteries and third act surprises play out inside the shadowy, candlelit walls of a remote mansion. Did the butler do it? We don't care, just have him bring me an entire decanter filled to the brim of this stuff. Let's sleuth to unpack the plot twists of this bottle, shall we? Drunk Saffron's certainly got punch. It’s, shall we say, punch-drunk. Drunk and fruity indeed, this dark and deep scent is a bit abrasive at first...but then it grows on and begins to intoxicate you. This bottle has artistry in spades. I can most predominantly smell the cognac, the plum and the leather, which are expertly interwoven with the saffron, although I say with some regret that the saffron isn’t quite the centerpiece that the title suggests. I can sense some of the coffee (bitter, black, and not even a little bit creamy), but I can barely detect the vanilla that everyone else seems to be picking up. It’s there, I suppose, but it’s not even remotely gourmand. This is merely one lone and very dry vanilla flower that’s now drowning in a boozy decanter of plum wine and cognac. Unisex and ideal for a midnight clandestine rendezvous. Like most BTSO fragrances, the staying power on this is remarkable, and this scent is sure to leave an impression – for better or worse, as Drunk Saffron is certain to be divisive. Like those Agatha Christie novels, this is an intriguing, stirring, and sophisticated scent that harkens back to forgotten times. And Then There Were None? Nah, rather, and then there was plum. In five words or less: Intoxicating, plum-punch-drunk love.

This is an absolute beauty! Has the undeniable saffron, gorgeous cognac and a kind of steep, smooth sweetness. The vanilla doesn't steal the show at all; it enhances the saffron and cognac notes in perfect unison, with the plum-like impressions deepening the profile deliciously. She's seductive, cloying in the best way. Immensely sweet, I must reiterate, a scent that pulls you into its embrace without forcibly keeping you there. So pleasant... Barely any patchouli, though. A fresh purchased bottle might be different, and I'll update once I get my own bottle of this and use it for a while. But let me tell you, the day I sampled her on my arm I also tried other fragrances on other spots of my skin, so I had a tangible point of comparison. A record-breaking hot, sunny day, I sweated after applying, I also had to wear sunscreen and hold bags with the handles landing onto the area I sprayed this specific one onto. Despite all this, I kept smelling it strong and vivid, and couldn't stop sniffing my arm on that spot. I also showered, treating my entire body with a kind of cooling menthol shower gel. Yet, traces of this fragrance can still be detected on that spot of skin. I can even smell her a little bit in my room, just sitting around, hiding in the plain air only to throw herself all over me again out of nowhere. All the other frags I tested are pretty much gone by now. She remains, and won't let up. If I'm going to go by the tester I sprayed, I'm going to say that this singular perfume has the MOST lasting power I have EVER witnessed myself. I think I'm in love... <3 Just the memory of this scent is going to be potent for a fair while, I can already tell! A boozed up Persian princess, this one. She's absolutely gorgeous and not leaving me alone. The total opposite of a problem :> bow and coo, coo!

Incredibly odd fragrance. When i smelled it in store the sprayer was broken, and straight from the bottle it smelled sweet, warm and spicy, almost edible. Ordered it online after, and my bottle was entirely different. But not in a bad way. The patchouli is PROMINENT and earthy, reading as wet soil to my nose (but i really enjoy that). The coffee might also contribute to the “dirtiness”. On some days I almost pick up a wet coffee ground sort of thing. The plum, saffron and cognac combo is a little medicinal but not too much so, at least once the alcohol evaporates slightly. The vanilla is prominent throughout, starting as boozy, spicy and not too sweet, but morphs into a vanillin edible vanilla in the dry down. Speaking of the dry down, it is KEY. This fragrance completely transform throughout the wear. For me it goes dirt->fruity boozy saffrony->edible vanilla/saffron and a little musk. Imagine that you’re baking with saffron and soaking it in cognac to bring out the flavour. Thats what this fragrance is like for the majority of wear. Not a lot of lasting projection but the dry down reallyyy lingers. Definitely a challenging scent and not for everybody, but I adore it.

8/10 Prefacing all my BTSO reviews with this disclaimer: not a fan of the marketing. Based on the brand's name, fragrances name and bottle design, it looks like one more fast fashion brand playing on the "be edgy, fuck society" vibe, all the while asking you to be a good consumerist and pay $50 for a white t-shirt. To the juice now! That one made me see BTSO as a fragrance line to reckon with. Very interesting opening, I see it as dry green and ochre. The spiciness of saffron, dryness of leather, roundness of vanilla and something herbal I can’t define (maybe the musk and patchouli) hold the first wiff. To note, the vanilla is not as gourmand as I usually smell, that really surprised me. Hint of booze that does not overpower the other notes. It almost feels as if someone was trying to recreate a woody scent with no wood. The smell is warm, adventurous yet quiet, kind and reassuring but promising new and surprising horizons. Not quite sure when I would wear this, maybe on a road trip in the fall through the Provençal landscapes Cézanne used to paint. But that is definitely the first BTSO I'm considering buying a bottle of.

This one is highly addictive and I too have been wearing it daily. It's rich (but not balsamic), fizzy, bubbly, gourmand, warm. There's a fascinating, caffeinated buzz and a strong sweetness on the initial spray with that deep fruit note lodged supportively under the surface. The saffron, leather, coffee, and cognac combine into a sort of off-vanilla foody warmth that isn't too traditional, and the plum makes it a bit juicy as well. That said, the late drydown (maybe 6-7 hours in) is a mostly innocuous vanilla with lingering leather and saffron. I love that it's gourmand without being sugary-- this is more pastry dough or dark booze than maple syrup. The saffron theme gives it a vibe that's almost theatrical, leather seats and edgy sweetness. It makes me feel cabaret and cozy at the same time. The lasting power is also phenomenal, I can smell it pointedly after 12 hours.

I love this set. I got the sample set from Lucky Scent because I was enthralled by a review of Dirty Rice. This one and Mud were my absolute favorites - but this one smokes Mud on performance. I generally don’t like patchouli when it’s front and center, but it’s really well blended and balanced here. After over 12 hours, I start to get a little more skunk off of it, but it honestly took me a long time to realize that because of how good the performance is. After 12 hours, I’m not angry to reapply. Sillage is weaker, but I get a good trail for about 5 hours. The plum in this is just so sexy. I’ve been wearing this almost daily since receiving my full bottle, and I love it.

There have been several fragrances that I have gotten "cough syrup" from and this is not one of them. I think this is stunning. The opening is a blast of sweetened cognac and the coolness of saffron - it might make you sneezy for just a second - and once it dries, the plum and vanilla warm it up on the skin into this deep, dark, mysterious concoction. Totally femme fatale vibes. Dries to a sweet musk. My only gripe is that it doesn't last nearly long enough which was such a disappointment. Sugar Addict lasted me forever but this one seemed to fade within the first hour or two of wear. Let's be honest, though, I'll probably buy it anyway. 9/10

I remember my first reaction to this was «wow». And I have tried to write this review ever since, but it is hard to get a grip on. I want to wear it all the time, and the more I smell the more addictive it gets. A sweet and boozy fragrance with something very fresh and green in the top, almost menthol-like that gets stuck in your nose. On the other hand it is very sweet, like brown sugar and vanilla, but it is very balanced. It reminds me of a lip balm I used to have with a roller-ball applier that always was icy cold when it touched my lips, but with this it reads like if you had an ice cube in a conac drink that gently touches my mouth.

This fragrance is an ABSOLUTE LOVE for me The review below from @Dilfluver777 hits it pretty dead on. I get a bit more plum at the top that slowly becomes more and more dominant all the way to the drydown where it mixes with vanilla. Boozy leather up top to a creamy ambery vibe in the bottom. I get 10+ hours out of this with moderate projection for the first 3 hours. I can detect it all day but others have to lean in a bit to find it after 3 hours. Sampled this is immediately knew I had to have a full bottle. I've got quite a few fragrances but I know this will be a staple in my rotation

The opening can be a little off putting as the patchouli is strong and and earthy and cognac smells more like straight vodka which is reminiscent of college years but the dry down though ! It SHOCKED me, very sweet creamy and the saffron is velvety, I believe it maybe the plum note that sweetens it up and really CARRIES the fragrance I don't get any coffee notes A lot of people may shy away from this one because the opening is rough and takes you through a myriad of emotions but end product is truly rewarding and very unique.

I bought a full bottle of this within moments of testing my sample. This scent makes me feral. I can't stop smelling myself and my partner can't either. First of all this is SWEET. It's vanillic and spicy, boozy and fruity. The leather and musk combination makes it incredibly wearable and even skin like on the dry down. It's gourmand and warm and incredibly rich. To me this is elegant, inviting, and somehow still absolutely lickable. To my nose, the sexiness of this scent cannot be overstated. I would bathe in it if I could.

The fragrance that started my fragrance obsession. I sniffed it in a store and I couldn't stop thinking about it for over a week. I was absolutely feral for it. My favorite saffron scent I own, I compare all others to this one. This also layers well with lots of my fragrances to give them more of a sexy date night feel. Grateful I do not smell any patchouli in this mostly saffron, cognac, plum, vanilla and musk. The leather balances it out for that edge. Skin Test: 10/10

Beautiful, unique. Lately became my new signature scent. Dried plum in liqueur, delicate spices and lots of natural warm vanilla in the version of a pudding cupcake or butter cookie. The only perfume where I don't mind patchouli, which adds character and dryness to the composition. I have some deep emotional reaction to this scent, a memory of something good from very early childhood. For those around me I supposedly smell both innocently cute and sexy. I love it.

I absolutely adore this perfume! To my nose, there is a very powerful sweet, plum scent, almost exactly like plum wine, and as it dries down you get a very earthy, strong scent, weirdly like the smell of an old building or church. It’s slightly dusty but the sweetest of the plum makes it so unique and attractive. Because of this, I’d suggest someone to buy a sample before committing to the full bottle, but I think it is absolutely gorgeous.

I bought a sample of this from LuckyScent and I LOVE IT! Straight out of the bottle it is cognac and plum, but as it dries down on my skin I get a sweeter caramel and vanilla note. It reminds me of an indulgent, boozy dessert at the end of a date night. I will definitely buy a full-sized bottle when the sample runs out. My favorite way to wear it is to layer Escapade Gourmande underneath it for an even richer vibe.

THIS SMELLS SO GOOD. boozy in the opening with notes of ripe, fresh and juicy plums. This fades away to give way to a smell that can only be described as the most tasty cupcake batter. Projects quite well in the first few hours, but dries down to more of a skin scent over time. However it's definitely still there hours after.

Jesus Christ, I love this. This smells like Cher Horrowitz spilled cognac on her Alaïa to ruin it instead of being held at g*npoint. If you don’t get that reference, this is probably too grown and sexy for you. Yes, Drunk Saffron is that freaking damn good.

I just got five samples from this house and this is def my fav! I thought Sugar Addict would be bc I'm usually a gourmand girl but I was pleasantly surprised. Especially bc I am not a fan of leather but these notes just work so lovely together. FB worthy!

Beautiful scent. I discovered this on LuckyScent, and I am glad that I did. This is a warm fragrance with just a touch of booziness to it. I can smell cardamaom, even though it is not listed. Give Dirty Rice a try as well. Definitely FB worthy.

Nor drunk, or saffron. A very sorry, vanillin, creamy fudge with a sweet, not boozy cognac. Gourmand vanilla fudge creamy sweetness kind of fans will love it. Unisex, decent longevity and performance.

I have this in a discovery set. This is truly amazing, cognac heavy, much vanilla, and saffron the perfect mix for winter. Reminds me of angels share but not that sweet. Kinda Synthetic tho.

It feels designed to linger, to project, and to make its presence known, embracing a darker and more intoxicating mood that stands in sharp contrast to the fresher fragrances that came before it. With expectations set, let us see where this indulgent direction ultimately leads. Opening: The opening is sweet, fruity, and boozy. The primary notes that stand out are plum, vanilla, cognac, and saffron, with plum and cognac leading the composition. The fragrance opens with a juicy burst of plum that feels rich and ripe, delivering a sweetness that is full bodied yet balanced by a subtle tartness that keeps it from becoming cloying. Blind Buy: For fans of heavy, sweet, and vanilla forward fragrances, Drunk Saffron could be considered a relatively safe blind buy. That said, it should not be purchased solely based on the presence of saffron in the name, as saffron never becomes the focal point of the composition. Sampling is still recommended, particularly for those who are sensitive to rich gourmand sweetness. Final Verdict: Drunk Saffron delivers impressive performance and an opening that is genuinely excellent, showcasing masterful blending between juicy plum, warm cognac, creamy vanilla, and softly spiced saffron. That initial impression is rich, engaging, and beautifully constructed, and it immediately sets high expectations. It was a blind buy, because I really enjoy plum in perfumes. I was hoping for something along the lines of a plum liqueur with a touch of the Orient. The composition opens with a very sweet, ripe plum splashed with a hint of alcohol, accompanied by leather and patchouli. My first association was rather unusual, as if I had opened a jar of plum preserves in a cool, damp cellar. That earthy patchouli is very noticeable here and, unfortunately, it’s a note I don’t get along with. However, once that initial musty, cellar like impression passes and the patchouli settles down, the fragrance becomes much more pleasant. The plum returns to the forefront, this time more liqueur like and dense, accompanied by soft leather and a subtle coffee note. The saffron suggested by the name is sadly very scarce. As the fragrance develops, a gourmand leaning vanilla and a touch of musk become more prominent, smoothing the composition. Interestingly, at this stage the patchouli almost completely disappears and the scent becomes creamier and more comforting. Longevity on my skin is around six hours. The projection is quite noticeable at first, but over time the scent settles closer to the skin. In summary, Drunk Saffron turned out to be more of a drunken plum. It’s an interesting composition, sweet, but not typically gourmand thanks to the additions of leather and patchouli. I would definitely recommend testing before buying, as the first impression can be quite challenging.

This smells exactly like Coca-Cola, which actually has hints of vanilla, coffee, nuts, and spices. You can even feel the fizzy effervescence. The opening is pure patchouli, with a damp, humid smell that quickly fades into the mix, creating a perfect combination of vanilla, fizz, plum, and saffron for any weather. The leather is not very noticeable; if you look for it, it's there, but I don't think anyone can point it out without reading the notes. Saffron also has leathery notes, so it could be entirely attributed to that. I love the smell; it's different, new, cozy, but also fizzy fresh, sweet but not overly sweet, and a little boozy because of the cognac, plus the coffee!, I love it. Unfortunately, it does not project much, although it lasts a long time. However, without projection, you really need to bathe in it to enjoy it. So, it's expensive because of that.

Sampling Borntostandout Drunk Saffron, a sweet and spicy blend of plum, cognac, saffron, leather, coffee, patchouli, vanilla, and musk, yielding a significant overlap with the sweeter Drunk Maple, though pivoting more toward the spicy notes of saffron and patchouli. Still, the blend is pretty sweet and boozy, just a bit more modulated and (in my opinion) a bit less interesting than the more committed Drunk Maple, but I still like Drunk Saffron as an option for those not inclined to opt for the full gourmand experience. As with the rest of the line, it’s EDP concentration, priced at $210 for 50ml, and available at a handful of boutiques in the US, like Ministry of Scent. Overall, I think it’s quite good, just not as compelling as Drunk Maple. 7 out of 10

Got a sample of this on a whim for free shipping threshold and I was pleasantly surprised! It's pretty true to the notes: I get sweet, boozy plums, and the saffron and leather give it a nice depth. Not sure I sense the patchouli but I assume it just lends a bit more complexity to the scent. Leather tends to turn me off in most fragrances but here it's subtle and blends nicely with the saffron. It's light enough on the booze that I'd wear it any time of day, and airy enough for most seasons. I could see myself pulling this off during a Scandinavian summer. If it makes sense, I'm not addicted to smelling this myself but I love the idea of smelling like this. Could even be a signature fragrance.

I got a sample and I was a little shocked because my expectations were different - like if you ordered whiskey at a bar and got rum instead. I came back to it once my expectations were realigned and even though sweet gourmands aren't my go-to, I really dug it and bought a bottle. Loud and decadent - plum syrup mixed with melted vanilla and coffee ice cream. The saffron and cognac are not nearly as pronounced as the name might suggest, but along with the leather note they keep it restrained enough. It's fun, flirty and over the top - perfect for a fun date night. Unisex for sure. Absolutely not blind buy safe.

a very nice almost oud-like leather opens up right at the beginning of the scent. the saffron clings to the leather, and that mixes well with the boozey plum undertone. as it dries down, the leather note becomes less prominent and the scent starts to really sweeten up. the coffee brings out a sweet amber quality from the vanilla that is almost caramelized. the patchouli adds this sort of mossy and fuzzy texture that really rounds the fragrance out and adds some nice depth. i find myself really liking this scent, it has a certain laid back but sophisticated charm to it. the dry down is the best part.

A warm hug from a chocolate rum cake - even though there is no chocolate in here, something is giving chocolate vibes. This is beautiful and definitely started off like Angel's share but developed more into a beautiful sweet milky dry down. Not too sure if I can compare it to Coca Cola, it's definitely not got any spice or nutmeg in here, but rather a nice boozy note that is not over done! Subtle and reminiscent of a jazz bar and softer nightlife <3 I love this! Worth a shot for any gourmand lover looking for something similar to Angel's Share!

Its a beautiful scent, even though now that i have it on it has a bit of a cherry smell and a powder scent to me but its not over powering. I would say more of a spicy cherry but i did not get a cough syrup vibe with this one. I am receiving tons of compliments today and this is my first day wearing it, i bought this last night. I am not a fruity fragrance person but this one got me, so i would say besides Mango Skin this would actually be the first fruity fragrance in my collection. Normally what i wear is floral (Rose) or something woody.

admittedly i hate this line/house but i love this perfume. the opening is a very sticky and smoky like burnt dates. after a couple hours, it smells more sweet and vanilla-y with an almost raisin like scent. i do get a little of the leather, and the cognac is spicy but not like rubbing alcohol like sex and cognac from this line. Really nice plum scent.

I didn't really get a cough syrup vibe from this but it is certainly strong. I actually adore the blend of notes together and although potent, this fragrance if a perfect blend of spice, booze, and plum. I think it's a perfect cold weather scent and I can't wait to get a full bottle!

It’s interesting. Smells a bit like bubblegum and some dirt :))) meaning that it has both lovely childish sweetness and some really earthy patchouli in the base. Do they go well together? Well that’s a good question. I’d say rather not, but it’s not horrible.

Immediately hit with boozy notes and a very earthy plum. As it dries I get the saffron and leather with a hint of coffee ;followed by vanilla musk and some earthiness, presumably from the pataculi. I think it’s well blended and like the progression of notes

Almost doesn’t make grade, but it does. 🙂 Boozy and vanillac, plumed saffron composition. Quickly overwhelmed by what should be nuance (leather, vanilla and coffee). Comes together to emit a decent scent, but it lacks any depth or density. Just barely good.

It sounds horrible on paper, bug spray nonetheless. But on skin, oh my goodness, in 5-15’ it’s a sweet vanilly soft leather plum that I can’t get enough of. And the discovery set I was getting primarily for Dirty Heaven which now seems far less appealing 🙃

I think I like this one... I need to sit with my sample some more, as BTSO fragrances are quite complex, but I think I rather enjoy this cognac and plum scent. I think I'm getting only a little bit of saffron on my skin. This scent is definitely special.

Opening: Sweet and boozy. The smooth cognac and plum is there with just a hint of saffron Dry down: All vanilla and close to Kayali's Vanilla 28, only slightly sharper. Like vanillin sugar. All in all, very nice!

The base is amazing, but at the top there is something dusty. If you can survive until dry down you will be rewarded with the most delicious and sexy vanilla. But the opening is challenging.

I loved the opening — it reminded me of marzipan but it dries down to a generic vanillin scent with no depth to my nose unfortunately. Not bad, but not worth the money in my opinion

Very nice scent. Reminds me of Oud for Greatness without the oud, and it's less loud. A future buy for sure.

Weird, this smells exactly like Kelloggs Smacks! But I like it tho.

Hm. It's not my favorite BTSO scent but mostly due to personal taste as I'm not super into boozy /gourmandy scents and this one reads particularly sweet and plumy on me. I wouldn't say it's one dimensional, there is depth to it, but it comes off as very liner to me. I get the cognac, vanilla extract (specifically vanilla extract, not just "vanilla"), plum, biscotti dipped in desert wine on a summer patio. It's well balanced. I happen to grow saffron but haven't tried many other saffron scents so I feel like I don't have a great grasp on what it's "supposed to" smell like represented in perfume. But if it's anything like the fresh stuff I smell- I'm not really picking up on it. It could be argued though, that richness and sense of grandeur that saffron represents is present. If you'll indulge me for a moment, it smells like Hearst Castle. Cool limestone, woolen tapestries, whiffs of vintage lipstick from starlets racing down a corridor, bitter wet newspaper ink, rich appetizers being marched out from the kitchen, cocktails swirling and oop- spilling a bit on your silk gown, oxidizing oil paints from the 16th century, and imported lacquered wood. And the wine cellar- oh god the wine cellar: liqueurs, musky grapes, sweet syrupy corks of hundreds of bottles of wine all sleeping soundly as they have been for decades prior. Positively ravishing- if not a tad overwhelming. If you can handle some booze and fruit without feeling like you're trapped in fruitcake, this may be the one for you.
