Hinoki Shower

my new favourite!! lately i’ve been obsessed with finding realistic forest scents, and whilst i feel like this lacks some greenness, it is a great woody-foresty fragrance. it smells like chopped trees in a forest where it has rained recently, and is now drying in the autumn sun

Forest bathing in the rain. There is cut wood, moss, pine needles, leaves, water, and maybe a trace of smoke far away. Absolutely lovely, calming, and green. Will be wearing this a lot.

Perfumer Frank Voelkl has seemingly showered us with yet another success, following his Le Labo masterpieces Santal 33 and (the more profound and lesser-known) Iris 39. Although I was only able to try this on a tester and not on my skin, I found Hinoki Shower immediately charming. It’s a refreshing, comforting and cozy scent, with the hinoki forest coming into eagle-eyed and expert focus. I’ve been hunting for a hinoki perfume that recreates Le Labo’s phenomenal hinoki-scented bath and body products, and this is the closest dupe I’ve found thus far. I might be proven wrong once I’ve actually tried it on my skin - so I'm not out of the (hinoki) woods yet - but my initial gut reaction is that this will be a winner. Perhaps I’m biased and predisposed to liking this scent, since the official fragrance description reads, “A night spent in the old cabin in the woods with a girl I barely knew. Lighting a cigarette as we go for a walk in the forest, which was still moist from the rain.” And, admittedly, smoking in the wet woods with a sexy stranger sounds like a good time to me, so. In five words or less: Pour this hinoki on me.

A misty morning in a mountain forest, where dew glistens on the undergrowth. The cool air is filled with the scent of earth, moss, pine needles, and soaked bark. There is silence, peace, healing. Inner harmony—the balance of a warrior, a wise and mature man who makes decisions with both mind and heart. A deep understanding of the essence of one's own nature. These are the perfumes of silence and strength. A composition to be worn for oneself, not for the rest of the world.

I'm on a quest to smell like a sauna and this is the closest I've come so far. This is my first day wearing but I love it so far. Truly unisex and cozy. Definitely a contender for my winter scent this year. It reminds me of a less aggressive By The Fireplace by MM

Very pretty. Smells very much like Naomi Goodsir's Bois d'Ascese. Made for the unique collector; not an everyday scent.

Where is the hinoki in this Gets kinda salty in the drydown Not bad but was hoping for hinoki

Woody with an aquatic dry down

Ashes and evergreen. The slightest wisp of something medicinal tickles my nose. I don't know what to make of this scent, it is not unpleasant, I just don't know in what context one would wear it.

Nice agreeable woody scent. Need to spend more time with it but I think I like it. There is kinda a ambroxany addictive quality thing that this has.

Opened up with a peppery vegetable spiciness, drying down through a more myrrh-like incense vibe with a bit of smokiness for a moment, then briefly into a more leather element, before it spends most of the day (albeit a very long day) as a soft aromatic. While somewhat generic and sits at skin level, this is decidedly more woody, and pine-like, with a hint of what feels like vetiver smoke. It has some character. You do get a good sense of most of the notes, but feel that others do it with more, or maybe with less, or maybe just a different and more amplified attitude? I guess if you want under the radar woodsy stuff that lasts long, this is a contender. But you best be somebody everyone wants to hug if you want them to even notice, because as with many from this house you will need more if you're truly born to stand out.

A manufactured green accord (which veers unpleasantly close to nail varnish at close quarters) makes this fragrance a potential headache-maker for me. Heavy. Oppressive. Unliked.

I was looking for the fragrance that smells just like the Le Labo Hinoki body products. And it really does. And while the scent is truly amazing the performance is shockingly poor. It lasts no longer than thirty minutes. Really, really disappointing

Discontinued and a masterpiece. Perfect airy crispy hinoki wood, borderline magical. Tobacco camphor vetiver perfectly present in a subtle way, not overly strong and so balanced. This is a perfume to make you breathe in in open lungs. ✨️ and in a deep state of foresty calmness. There is a subtle dryness that really tickels my brain the right way, and the greenness of this cypress and pine its sublime.

I am starting the discovery set and this is really nice to me. I get a little incense smoke and pine on the initial application. As it is drying down I get green, wood and a faint trace of smoke, and some pine. I must be in a wood mood of late. (I have been gravitating to wood scents ) It is not a very complex scent, but is pleasant. Not much silage on me.

I agree those who like CDG Hinoki will like this it has the sharpness and freshness of cut wood (kinda mix of cedar and hinoki) but also a cool damp aquatic effect I only smelled it in store on a paper strip so cannot comment on longevity/wearable but it made me smile at first sniff

Imagine being in a dense rich forest in pouring rain whilst smoking a cigarette. Potent, unique. Somedays I like this, somedays less so. Less is more for this scent.

Very nice, straight-forward, slightly sweet hinoki fragrance with hints of camphor and tobacco. Great performance. Discontinued though, and not worth chasing.

Love this! It’s inoffensive and fresh and foresty. It’s a great every day perfume.. similar to Le Labo’s Hinoki.

Just curious as how someone thinks this smells like AG Cloud Pink. For me, they are polar opposites
