Purple Stain

Got a sample of this with another purchase... Super interesting! The "inspiration" on the BTSO site reads "purple wine stains spead across the pages of an old leather jounal, soaking into the paper..." - pretty spot on. The opening screeches a little with an acidic red wine accord and there is a rubbery note to the leather here that's quite unique, but both mellow as time passes. The sweet notes are less pronounced in this, compared to some of BTSO's other offerings; they balance the acidic notes well. The spice comes through later for me once the acidic top has started to dry down. The base notes play well together offering a strong spine to the fragrance. Overall, on my skin at least, this invokes the morning after a party where someone has spilled a glass of aged shiraz on your outfit and you're making the walk of shame home. A stale cloud of decadence and opulence permeates the air around you telling tales of the night before. A powerful scent that will certainly turn heads. With the majority of BTSO, definitely not a blind buy. Would I buy a full bottle? Maybe, just struggling to find the context in which I'd wear it - a date perhaps? I don't know It's certainly a masterpiece - 8/10

This is a “bad girl” perfume. Just screams sexy to me. It’s giving alluring, experienced sex kitten vibes. I’m not a fan of the opening which to me smells like wine, and I think could give more sensitive folks a headache. After the first 20-30 minutes it’s starts to develop into a very beautiful blended warm sweet (not to sweet) grape (fruity) woody, somewhat incense like, amber smell. On my skin this just got sweeter and more woody by the 6+ hour range. The sillage is perfect at about arms length, and this will absolutely last on clothes and skin until washed off. I love how unique this fragrance is, and how I feel when wearing it. I currently have a small decant, and will likely purchase a bottle. I am very interested in testing more fragrances from this brand. I enjoyed smelling a few others in store, and this one seemed to grab me.

Purple Stain from BTSO perfumed by Jordi Fernández is an avant-garde purple drank fragrance that is blended impeccably. The light smoky oud and the Kool Aid jammer-Little Hug Fruit Barrel Juice sweetness. Followed by a drunken orange blossom with the complimentary addition akigalawood and ambrofix that has this fragrance radiating off the skin.This rich vanilla emerges as the fragrance dries down. Another artistic creation from Fernández that is highly wearable and unique. A must try and this one is neck and neck for my favorites of the four intial fragrances launched in the Extrait Extrême collection.

This is absolutely fucking incredible perfumery. I don’t know how they make it eternal, but it is magic. It’s not a daily driver. One bottle may last me my entire lifetime (although I bought a second one, just in case). It’s a gloriously juicy purple wine and spicy dark leather scent. It evolves from sweet and juicy to woody and dark. There are nefarious elements to it, but it’s witchy and sticky and makes me feel like a heathen. Not to everyone’s taste, sure, but I love it and I never wish to be without it. Jordi Fernandez is a wizard.

Smell wise, this has a sweet, faintly grape wine smell to it. After leaving it for a while, it develops more florally and gradually de-intensifies in smell. In general, BTSO’s Extrait Extreme line is absolutely nuclear. The performance on this was incredible, I have been wearing testing a sample of this and it has lasted me for pretty much the whole day. I start my days early and by the time I take a shower it would have been around 12+ hours minimum, and even after showering the scent still lingers faintly.

Purple Stain smells aged. Not dusty or old, just matured. Like dark sweetness sitting inside wood for years. The fruit feels purple in the truest sense of the word. Dense. Shadowed. Almost floral at times. There’s something nocturnal about it. Cellar air, stained paper, resin, polished wood. Thick and smooth without becoming syrupy. I kept smelling my hand the entire night. Guilty pleasure for sure.

I was lucky enough to smell this fragrance while recently at Exsence! It was hands down my favourite fragrance at the EXPO. I cannot wait for the release. For me it is classy, masculine and sexy. It could shake up my top 5 all time frags.. Possibly even my top 3! As soon as I get my hands on a bottle, i will do a FULL and honest review.

its really unique and hard to describe even, 100% need sampling it smells like matte purple.. i really like it but at the same time don't have a strong urge to own it even with 40% off.. which makes me feel that maybe im just impressed by it more than loving the scent profile itself.. if that makes sense

A Korean version of Nasomatto Fantomas (one of my all-time favorite perfumes): instead of melon you get a burst of bubblegummy grape, and the gunpowder is replaced by fresh asphalt. Incredible performance, as is expected from an extrait. I love Purple Stain, but the price is WAY too high.

Such an incredibly addictive, unique and long lasting fragrance. Blends perfectly the sweet and the dark. Oud and grape. Say what you want about BTSO, but they do create some amazing hits, and Jordi Fernandez is, today, IMHO, the best perfumist in the world.

Intoxicating 🤤 I can’t get enough of this smell. I just want to smell like this all day every day. Works amazing with my chemistry. Longevity and sillage are crazy, but that’s what I expect from a perfume priced this much. Powerful and beautiful 😻

Strange but interesting. Smells like some kind of grape candy. Super strong, developing into a mysterious scent. Very unique with a nuclear performance. If you want to try something new and make a difference, this is it.

So I bought the discovery set Purple Stain is from. The fragrance is the most mature out of all 4 on my skin. I agree it reminds me of red grapes on the opening but with this deep spice which really reminds me of Azzaro Wanted. IOW, that richness that all these modern frags have. That kind of sweet undertone. The oud is lightly sharp, but heavy wood. Im glad I bought the discovery set. 2 sprays only on my wrist and it stays close to my skin. Thats all I need. I sprayed it late evening and I could smell it through out the day at work. Evdn fist bumping a coworker and he said he could smell it. The deep style may be redundant since I bought CH Badboy Elixer, but that is more rich like chocolate. Purple Stain is unique, after 6 hrs that sweet accord is very clean, floral and spicy.

I was excited to try this one! To me this absolutely comes across as a complex and grown up concord grape juice that is dangerously close to a pez candy scent on the skin. I LOVE the boozy dark grape vibe, but I wish they dialed back the sweetness and powdery note which skews to cheap candy. I think the candy note is holding it back from being a truly winning rich and sexy fragrance. It does remind me a bit of Clues's With the Candlestick. The scent isn't identical by any means, but I think they have a similar vibe and have the same niche in my collection. To me With the Candlestick is better and easier to wear since it's not as sweet.

Reminds me of Cherry Punk by Room 1015 but dirtier, grimier... As if you were wearing Cherry Punk in a dark, overcrowded club, where you can feel the humidity radiating off other people’s sweaty bodies. Both scents have a saffron / patchouli mix which must be what my nose is picking up, this one leaning more masculine with the removal of the Cherry note. Might in the future consider purchasing this one when I run out of Cherry Punk.

A very pleasant scent. My boyfriend said he liked it!! We typically don't like the same fragrances, but I think that this one is really likeable due to the saffron, orange blossom, caramel, and labdanum (at least those are my fav notes in this one). The dry down honestly reminds me of how Hollister would smell in the early 2010's, but it isn't nauseating. I am curious if there is anyone who can pick up on the concrete note...

I have a 15ml from the brand for all of the Extreme Extraits. I like this one just fine, but it's less interesting to me than the other 3. Black Mango and Oud Candy are my favorites from the range. From the rip, I get spice with citrus, oud, and almost leather in the base. Lasts a long time on my skin, FWIW.

This one is fun. It smells like grape flavored popsicles and grape flavored fun dip powder. It's a very literal purple perfume. Nuclear in Sillage and longevity. Very oily when sprayed on skin. It's quirky unique and novel but only for one sample sniff.

A good and powerful fragrance 💪🏻 To me, it resembles hot red wine with spices 🍷. The scent is slightly dry, yet it feels warm—when I inhale, I get a sensation of heat in my nose. I see this fragrance more on men.

So, I’m a big fan of Jordi Fernández, but there are a few things you should know about this fragrance that, as of 05/03/26, aren’t included in the Fragrantica description. Purple Stain was created for BORNTOSTANDOUT®, under founder and creative director Jun Lim, with a brief centred around the image of rich red wine spilling across the pages of an old leather-bound book. Hence the name Purple Stain. This fragrance was never intended to be mass-appealing or a high-volume seller. It’s more of an artistic niche creation, built around that very specific concept and atmosphere. And that’s exactly what you get. Rich red wine and leather. It’s pleasant, very, very strong, and it absolutely hits the intention it was aiming for. However, this isn’t something for people whose noses aren’t yet accustomed to niche or ultra-niche fragrances. This leans far more toward artistic perfumery than easy wearability. I do like it, and I appreciate it for the artistic talent and ethos from which it was created. But personally, it’s not something I’d wear often enough to justify the price (around £200+ for 50ml). If I managed to find it cheaper in fragrance groups, or perhaps picked up the 15ml bottle, I’d probably buy it as a statement piece—and because I’m a fan of Jordi. It perfectly demonstrates his ability to create fragrances that faithfully execute the brief he’s given. But if you’re not particularly a Jordi fan and simply want something that smells pleasant and wearable, rather than something bordering on ultra-niche artistic perfumery, there are better value options available. That said, this is a unique fragrance, and its artistic development is something to appreciate—even if it’s not necessarily your thing.

First whiff gives crime scene at a stationery store. Grape erasers. The rubber glossed over kind, vaguely sweet, violently violet. Smuggled and melted down with a Bic lighter, then dusted with cinnamon bark and a balsamic drip. It smells like something got caught in a pencil sharpener and tried to perfume its way out. The “grape” feeling is so synthetic to the point of memory. The kind that hugs the roof of your mouth. Then it twists: from rubbery school nostalgia into something oddly devotional. Hot labdanum, sticky with shadow, entwines with breezy neroli in a way that should feel warm and resinous. And it does... for half a second. But then: crash. A shrill hum, a kind of synthetic interference, like smelling through a screen. Like there’s a lovely idea behind the smell, but the medium got corrupted. You're dialing into a vintage voicemail: candied voice, terrible audio quality. There are woods in here, maybe balsa? dry cedar? shaved pencil ends? They’re muted under the plasticky grape fog. If it were a color, it’d be that too-slick Crayola purple indeed. A bit haunted. A bit sticky, a bit stain-y. It plays like a bootleg. Think licking batteries.

it has really great longevity and projection, but the scent itself is just kinda so-so. the only notes i am able to pick up are the patchouli and concrete. it's not my cup of tea

When I was a child, I used to order an extremely sweet purple popsicle in my grandparents' town in the Brazilian countryside. It was the sweetest of them all, with the strongest aroma and flavor; I always thought it was grape. Later, as an adult, I discovered it was actually blackcurrant. This perfume smells exactly the same. The difference lies in the price and the amount of time it takes to get rid of the scent, from your clothes or skin. It’s just too much.

ENOURMOUS sillage and superb longevity! I still smell the paper that i sprayed this perfume on (a few days ago) across my entire bedroom!?!?!? however, i cant stand the smell at all. Its not luxurious or sexy but reminds me of cheap grape gummies with a linear evolution... also, please do NOT wear this in closed areas or warm weather, im begging you

Over the top sludgy nightmare. If I were stuck indoors somewhere with someone wearing this I may have to cave my own nose in with a shoe.

A fragrance built around a dark, prominent fruity accord, with a clear direction from the very start. The opening is intense, almost liqueur-like. The fruity component is immediately noticeable—ripe, with a pronounced sweetness that leans more toward wine than fresh fruit. It isn’t bright or airy, but full and enveloping. As it develops, it settles without major shifts in direction. The sweetness remains central, supported by a warmer, slightly ambered base that provides structure and continuity. The evolution is linear, yet coherent. The sillage is clearly present. On my skin, longevity is high—easily exceeding seven hours—with a strong projection at first that gradually becomes more controlled. The character is assertive, with a distinctly feminine signature. It’s a well-crafted, high-quality fragrance, but personally, it’s not quite in line with my taste: the sweet, liqueur-like fruity note is too dominant for me. I see it as better suited for evening wear and cooler seasons, where it can express itself without becoming overwhelming. Purple Stain has a very defined identity. But quality and personal taste don’t always align.

I ordered samples of BTSO's new 4 extraits from LuckyScent as soon as they dropped and I really wanted to love them but unfortunately none of them hit right. They are a good example of how "stronger" doesn't always equal better. I think to achieve the strength of these fragrances, they've had to add a ton of synthetic fragrance oils and they come across as so. I also find them to be initially overwhelmingly strong, then because of just HOW strong they are, I became slightly nose blind to them in a way? I do think I've love this profile of scent if it were much more diluted and more 'natural' smelling. (This review basically applies to all four of them).

Thick, dense, and reminiscent of brown, dark purple, and dark red wine, this fragrance is deeply woody and oud-forward. It presents a beautiful juxtaposition of sweet notes and dark woods against strong woody ambers, the signature BTSO style, especially for the Extrait Extreme line. Sometimes when I smell it, I think it comes off as a darker, woodier, and stronger version of Blue Talisman from a distant reality. With the addition of extra notes like cinnamon, vanilla, caramel, Peru balsam, nutmeg, and oud, Purple Stain becomes much spicier, denser, and more full-bodied. Maybe that’s a stretch, but I see it.

This is definitely a challenging wear, and for someone whose skin reacts well to most fragrances, it unfortunately doesn’t love this. The first hour or 2 it’s getting over the very spicy saffron in there. I do not get much of the middle notes at all! Dry down is definitely a spicy earthy wood. However, I do think it is super cool and a very artistic fragrance, would I like to smell this on someone else? probably. It does seem to have monster longevity as I’m on hour 7 with strong projection. I do get that grape soda reference although it does go slightly metallic/gritty on me.

This smells like dirty heaven's older sister who can fight! You get the grape scent with that intoxicating smell that is reminiscent of gasoline. Sounds crazy I'm sure. It's a little less sweet than dirty heaven like a tough older sister would be. The oud is sweet and and strong so you need to like oud to like this. Totally buying a full bottle to layer with dirty heaven. This is great!

The opening reminds me of ambre papier by atelier materi. A realistic saffron is mixed with sweet woody cinnamon + nutmeg and fruity orange that gives a sweet, spicy and woody character. It has some resembles of the Babycat DNA. Given that it's long lasting and projecting, I would rate it 9/10 and this has 0% resembles to oud maracuja.

So good! I love that grape scent with the woodiness and the saffron. Feels like a fragrance I could definitely rock, but I have to agree with others about the price. I will most likely try to get a discounted bottle in the future if the opportunity arises. It’s basically a very grapey orange blossom with a big dose of spicy wood.

Does anyone smell the clear grape scent in this bottle? Actually, this is the creation that impressed me the most out of all 4 creations, sadly with a price like that, it's hard to make me want to decide to own a full bottle.

Applied on my skin 4 days ago and still going STRONG. I can smell it while 2” away from the sprayed area. Never experienced a perfume with such a staying power. Mysterious oriental smell. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!
