Sugar Addict

Boozy. Sweet. Cinnamon-y. There’s something I like about it sooooo much. BORNTOSTANDOUT released their body care line and I had no choice but to get the Drunk Lovers set and on a whim I got the Sugar Addict body wash. I’d never smelled Sugar Addict before, but recently I’ve been trying scents that I normally wouldn’t go for with surprising results. This got me. I have to be careful with alcohol accords in things. Sometimes they get kind of strange (oud symphony from precious liquid, I initially like it, but it gets headache-y after a few hours). Whatever they use in Sugar Addict, is the same kind of alcoholic accord that they use Drunk Lovers (which I own and love) even though it’s ‘rum’ in this versus it being ‘cognac’ in Drunk Lovers. As a bartender, I’m familiar with what actual booze smells like, and I can’t say if this is truly what rum smells like, but it does have a very boozy thing going on that I enjoy. It’s more rock candy as opposed to a crème brûlée, but I’m into it. The only sharp edge in this is the cinnamon, and I can really notice it the entire time I wear it. It’s interesting that there isn’t a bergamot or lemon to start the journey. Using cinnamon in the top makes for a very different end result. It’s still vanilla and sweet but not as much as you’d think something called Sugar Addict would be. The body wash and lotion made me want to try the actual scent so I got the little red 15ml bottle and I fear that was a mistake. I’m going to try this under all my other scents and that poor little 15ml is essentially already gone. I think if you like sweet stuff you’ll enjoy this, and if you typically don’t like sweet stuff you’ll enjoy this.

I straight up LIVE to smell like a big sugar lump that's been dunked in cinnamon and drizzled with caramel and hit with a torch. This is that. And I am happy. My absolute favorite gourmand in the world is A Whiff of Waffle Cone (both editions). Sugar Addict is very, very similar to the 2nd edition of Waffle Cone - so much so that you probably don't need both unless you're like me and you have an insatiable sweet tooth. Waffle cone is a little warmer and toastier while Sugar Addict is a tiny bit more cinnamony and sugar dusted. Both give the exact same vibe, though. I love this. A lot. 10/10!

wore this for the first time to go clubbing, and was throughly impressed! on my skin, it’s more boozy than anything else, the sugar also very noticeable which results in a really sexy warmth. to me, this is a party girl perfume: she’s sultry and enticing. definitely a compliment getter, and it did lure in men, which wasn’t the intention but was interesting none the less. if you are looking for something to mix with your sweat while you dance your heart out at night, this is it!! the projection lasted 2 hours, and the fragrance remained strong throughout the whole night, 8 hours.

this is an ultra sweet sugar dusted vanilla scent elevated by a smooth rum, warm cinnamon and creamy cashmere. The tonka bean adds some creaminess here and the coffee is only slightly noticeable, a background note of roasted coffee beans. I don’t really get any labdanum which is a good thing bc I typically don’t enjoy it, it’s mostly just a spicy and warm vanilla with booziness and creamy accords. I do think the name may be a tad bit misleading bc there’s more than just sugar here, it’s very warm and spiced and even slightly woody.

Extremely sweet, but more refined than just cotton candy or pure white sugar. Think boozy, rum, vanilla, cinnamon, burnt sugar, creme brulee, sweet, sophisticated. Started with a 1.5ml sample and it lasted a long time, as the scent is very strong. It doesn't get annoying at all to me, if anything, it becomes more delectable the longer I wear it. I don't think I'd risk wearing this in the office. Would possibly pick this up if it was on discount, but probably not for full price.

From the first spray, Sugar Addict pulls me into a world of pure indulgence. The caramelized sweetness is bold yet addictive, like walking into a pastry shop where vanilla, burnt sugar, and a hint of spice fill the air. It’s playful but with an edge—never cloying, just perfectly balanced. On my skin, the dry down turns into a warm, cozy embrace, making it impossible to stop sniffing my wrist. If you love ultra-gourmand scents with personality, this one is a must-try!

At first I wasn’t impressed. Just another boozy vanilla, nothing remarkable. Still I gave it a proper chance and to my surprise it became my most complimented fragrance. Someone had something nice to say every time I entered a room. And after a few wears my opinion changed completely. There’s a certain magic to this scent, undeniably sexy and intoxicating. It's warm and sweet with just the right touch of bitterness (espresso or dark chocolate?). A true stunner!

This scent is unreal. I love it so much. It smells like the dry ingredients when you’re baking a cake... Powdered sugar, sugar, hint of cinnamon, pinch of salt. And then there’s a couple magical ingredients I can’t put my fingers on, but I love them It’s just heavenly. It’s sweet while still FLUFFY and somewhat fresh. Lasting power is incredible as well. I tried a couple dozen fragrances today at Scent Bar and it outlasted all of them.

I love this scent. It really reminds me of the 2017 version of Vanille Fatale by Tom Ford. It has a very sugary, sweet vanilla with notes of cinnamon, cacao, tonka, and a subtle hint of coffee. If you’re someone who loved the older batches of Vanille Fatale, especially the 2017 version, I think you’ll really enjoy this one. I’ve also tried the 2024 Vanille Fatale, and in my opinion, it was a big miss compared to the older version.

I love this fragrance! opens up like an airy sugar bomb, and drys down to a sugary candy. Not really much else to say i mean the name says it all, it's just sugary sweet all the way through but in a very very good way. Usually sweet fragrances give me headaches but the way this is blended makes it super smooth and easy to wear. It is for sure a unisex fragrance. 8.5/10, wish it was cheaper.

reminds me of a soft boozy gingerbread. so good, I definitely recommend if you like spicy scents, its a lot more approachable in the boozy note than some other scents and the sweetness is subdued. a really good unisex perfume too, the kind that's extremely attractive. reminds me of jazz bars or nighttime Christmas walks. would probably layer well with tobacco.

I absolutely love this; I only tried it once before I became addicted to it immediately (which is funny because initial reaction was...meh. But then it grew on me. And grew!) This is insanely expensive and today I just got a sample of Brooklyn Bee and discovered...it's the same perfume. Like literally identical. And 1/3 the price. Well darn.

As a sweet-gourmand fragrance lover, I loved this scent. This is not that unique scent, I just said from the first smell that this smells like escapade gourmand. They are sooo similar if you like that scent try this out too. Its also like kayali 28, kinda angels share vibes, bianco latte, amore caffee. Loved thissss.

Finally got this one in. It is warm. Sweet. Woody. Powdered sugar. Simple yet hard to explain. I love it. Absolutely back up bottle worthy Unfortunately 50mls is priced little over 200... $205 USD to be exact plus a 10% discount code... seems just a bit too steep to be honest. .

The Great Boston Molasses Flood of 1919 as a fragrance. I smell this and can immerse myself in the thought of being overtaken by hot rushing brown sugar sludge and slowly suffocating as molasses fills and thickens in my nose and throat. Delightful!!!

I don't understand the negative. This is such a beautiful fragrance. I know everyone's noses interpret fragrances differently but this is one of my top 10 for life perfumes. It also lasts so long.

Sugar Addict has the dustiness of hardened cube sugar snuck from a bank waiting room when you were too little for coffee. I like this in spite of myself and keep coming back for more.

Warm and spicy sweet gourmand, with notes of caramel and chocolate. This smells like an elegant night out. It’s boozy and luxurious and oh so sweet. You will smell good enough to eat.

This truly live up to its name for me as it became quite addicting! The vanilla, rum, coffee and cinnamon is dancing on my skin with this one! 🙏🏼

I am in love with this. I layered it today with Libre Parfum and Kayali Sweet Pepper. It warmed up my combo to make it boozy and sweeter.

Tried this in sephora and for my Hispanic people smells just like horchata trust me this is super valid.

Torched sugar + a dusting of cocoa and cinnamon. A really great mixer but just as beautiful on its own.

After a while, my skin starts to smell like vanilla ice cream and I love it.

Caramel sugared rum. Very sweet and extremely boozy, more boozy than sweet. When you catch whiffs it’s pure white sugar. I think the rum is a bit too strong for me personally though, which contributes to the more masculine (though still very feminine) dry down which is honestly pure rum, sugar and vanilla. I can’t really say it’s worth the money either, I don’t think it’s got the complexity or body/fatness for such a price point. I find it pleasant but I really don’t know where I’d wear this. If I was back at university this would be my clubbing perfume for sure. Essentially this is what I’d wear in winter instead of Rock Candy Sugar (Kayali) for a night out except I’m not going clubbing in winter! I’ll rock this on Halloween but once my 1ml it’s up it’ll be gone for good. I do like it a lot though, it’s a sugary sex bomb but it’s just not got the versatility. I think a certain personality needs to wear this, a real party girl heartbreaker type.

i have tested this twice. I didn't expect it to be as complex as it is. definitely similar to milk up front, but different enough to have both. this one turns more cacao and tonka on me in the mid. i do get the br540 resinous aspect (I happen to like it) but only at the very end after 12 hours! I was confused actually because i didn't get it at all for the first 12 hours. I really enjoy it and I think it is very versatile. It could be layered with other gourmands very nicely. I used it today on top of sol de janiero bum bum cream. Update: I layered this with jo malone ginger biscuit last night. smelled delicious when i went to bed. but i woke up to the br540 part and it was a bit sour smelling. i couldn't wash it off fast enough. If only it stayed like the beginning I would want a bottle. but as of now I moved it from love to like and took it off my full bottle wish list.

This really surprised me. It wasn’t even on my radar but came in my discovery set. It’s a very cozy, sweet, woody scent. I think I saw someone compare it to Commodity Milk + and I get that. This is much sweeter tho IMO. Oddly enough I wore Angels Share yesterday so maybe that has something do with it...but I do not get cinnamon in this. At all. (It’s so prominent to my nose in AS so 🤷🏼♀️). This is a powdery very sweet vanilla sugar with a woody & smoky (slightly bitter) cacao twist that comes out about 2 hours in. I like this much more than I expected to. EDIT: I just read some of the other reviews and I agree. There is no creamy aspect to this perfume. Which I normally like but don’t miss here. And to reiterate...it’s SWEET. Sadly is does become exceedingly synthetic as the time goes on.

Sampling Borntostandout Sugar Addict, fittingly a sweet blend that, while a little heady in the very opening, quickly dries down to something a bit smoother, a more multifaceted gourmand, a mix of sugar, cocoa, tonka, cinnamon, rum, labdanum, and coffee, but still with a bit of that initial taste of sharpness. A reasonably bold yet pleasant, dark yet sharp and sweet, gourmand blend. Overall, I quite like it even though it’s not among my very favorites of the house. As with the rest of the line, it is EDP concentration and sold in US boutiques like Ministry of scent for $290/210/85 for 100/50/15ml, reasonable pricing in the current market, in my opinion, for high-quality, unique, well-performing perfume. 7 out of 10

A snowfall of sugar, but the surface—sticking your nose into the crystalline dusting atop festive tiramisu spiced and decadent, untouched by heat, still glistening in its brittle geometry. A sweetness that isn’t just sweet but faceted, prismatic, a cold shimmer of caramelised vanilla sharpening the edges of cream and cocoa. There’s warmth buried beneath this crystalline crackle. Cinnamon? Nutmeg? It gives the dessert a hum like an ember, life curling into something just marginally more bitter, a shot of espresso also adding impeccable aroma to its intoxicating liqueured base. A perfectly captured spun-sugar scent, rich but weightless, a dry stunner of sweetness suspended, never to collapse into cloying heaviness.

I absolutely adore this. I cannot put it down. It is very sugary sweet, but almost in a dry way. There is certainly no creaminess to this fragrance. The cinnamon gives it a wonderful warmth to the sugary sweetness. The rum is there to give it depth, but it's a sugary rum, not boozy to my nose. The labdanum gives it such an interesting depth as well. I personally don't really smell vanilla as a main note/accord. Both myself and my partner get a Xerjoff La Capital vibe from this, minus the fruit and add a ton of sugar. I think it's the labdanum and vanilla that bring the comparison to mind. Anyway, this was a blind buy that is a major love love LOVE for me!

The name's en pointe 🩰 because this is soooooooooo addictive. It's not as sugary as I had expected -- it's more sweet like a dark, darrrrk rum and coke + vanilla cordial; but not wet, as the labdanum + cashmeran gives a powdery, silky, rather velvety feel. I get more tobacco than cocoa, and the woodiness is there. One of the Dirty & Sticky sets more masculine picks, this reminds me a bit of Xerjoff Iommi sans the banana/patchouli accords. Like a stripped back, slightly more feminine version of Iommi. Love it... I kinda want to eat my arm. xo

A very sweet white sugary confection. Definitely for gourmand lovers. Although, it is marketed as a "fragrance sweetener" to add a boost of sweet notes to other fragrances by layering, it smells great as a standalone. Might be too sweet and one dimensional for some. The spice, rum, cacao notes are really gentle and become more prominent in the drydown. Reminds me of a less dense version of Escapade Gourmand-- less of a burnt sugar crust.

a realistic cinnamon cookie "WEAR IT ALONE FOR A DELICIOUS SKIN SCENT, OR LAYER IT WITH YOUR BOLDEST, MOST DARING PERFUMES TO CREATE A SIGNATURE THAT'S BOTH INTOXICATING AND UNIQUELY YOURS." this explains everything! it's a very soft, close-to-skin scent, that wasn't enough for a sweet gourmand perfume for me. they advertise it as a "sweetener", and I think I get why now.

On my skin I get spicy, woody notes and some light incense. Then in the dry down I get the sweetness, vanilla and a slight mustiness that feels comfy and lived in. I definitely get the Commodity Milk comparisons and to me this is a woodier version that is still unisex. It’s also the longest lasting of the BTSO offerings I’ve had a chance to try.

Very strong cashmeran opening, very Molecule 05 which is my least favourite of all the molecules with its musty moldy notes. In 10-15’ it settles and I can detect sugary-sweet boozy vanilla and smoky labdanum. It’s interesting, not sexy, bit edgy but still public pleasing. The drydown is lovely though.

I have both the perfume and body lotion of this one. Specifically only used for layering. It cannot go by itself really. Sugary sweet. It sometimes reminds me of caramelised sugar with a dash of rum and Christmas vibes. The fuzzy cashmeran too. Yucky if you don’t tolerate the note.

I got a sample of suger addict today and it smell exactly like a dupe I had. The fragrance was a dupe of side effect I have never smelled the real thing but I can only compare suger addict to the dupe I had and its smells the same

The top notes and heart notes are divine. Sugar sweetness. But the dry down is so much leather... And for that price it dosent last long on skin either.. find a dupe instead. Because the scent dna is so good.

Very mature woody vanilla! Smells a bit like resin with slight woody notes. It also leans quite masculine. I don’t get the name because the sugar note is deeply hidden.

I need perfumers to put the synthetic woods down and take two steps back. There is a lovely fragrance in here somewhere deeeeeeep underneath that loud "cashmere woods" note. BTSO had the makings of an all-time banger on their hands—the type of perfume that would get the gourmand girls in a tizzy—but unfortunately they allowed that perfume to be drowned under a flood of cashmeran. Enough is enough!!!! PUT THE CASHMERAN DOWN!!! Every damn perfumer and brand is shoe-horning these asthma and migraine-inducing synthetic wood notes into every fragrance on the market, in the hopes of capturing the attention of the projection-obsessed masses who think Glade plug-in scents are modern fragrance masterpieces. I say enough!!!!! The revolution starts now!!! We must demand excellence of every fragrance brand that would deign to demand $150+ for a fragrance whose artistry and complexity is entirely suffocated and slain under the weight of the new devils of modern perfumery: synthetic wood aromachemicals.

I was given a sample of this in Harvey Nicks after hating Be My Cookie. This is a nice twist on the vanilla sugar fragrances out here as the rum and cinnamon are detectable in here making it a teeny bit more masculine palatable than the regular fare. I’ve enjoyed wearing my sample of this today but there is something in the drydown there ever so slightly animalic on my skin I’m not sure what. Thankfully I can’t detect the coffee note as I’m not a fain of that in my fragrance. Enjoyable but it won’t be going on the full bottle list.

Lightly boozy sweet vanilla. The cashmere gives it a warm, woody, base that works well with the drizzle of cinnamon in it. It smells pleasant and inoffensive but it's also boring as all hell. The projection is decent at first but it fades into an intimate skin scent within an hour. I'm not paying niche fragrance prices to smell like vanilla and cinnamon, there's $5 body lotions for that.

To be honest, it's not that bad. There is a bit of synthetic feel there for me but it dries down to a sweet sugary scent. I'm disappointed because I didn't get any of the cinnamon and it's a little one dimensional, but if you like straight up sugary sweet perfumes, then this will do it for you. Overall 6.5/10

very very very sweet. not necessarily in a perfumey way but just sugarrrrrrr(white not brown)! way too strong for me and there’s not much depth. i’m overwhelmed smelling this for a long time. scent profile is not floral tho, just sweet heavy powder with kids sticky hands

Nothing special. Just ok. It is comforting, has a nice vanilla woody dry down. It could have been very special had the booze lasted for the whole journey. It becomes an intimate gourmandish scent that has a small silage if you are moving around. Perfectly unisex.

reminds me of molasses! it's definitely a thick and rich gourmand, but unfortunately the performance is mediocre, especially at the price point. it smells good, but i can barely smell it unless i have my arm right up to my nose. overall rating: 🩷🩷💔🖤🖤 2.5/5

so...this was the fragrance I was most excited about...and it was a BUST. it smells like vanilla and musk, not really sugary. After an hour on the skin it ONLY smells like vanilla and musk. I wish that this was even half as sweet as my beloved Sugarful...
