Oud Malinau

cinnamony candied oud? when i sprayed it on my skin i got a very sweet berry flavored candy scent mixed with smoky woody notes with slight cardamom in the background, i was disappointed by the very synthetic feminine candy feel of the opening but after 15 minutes the cinnamon that was very faint at the beginning started to amp up and the scent turned into a mix of heavy cinnamon, lighter berry candy and woody background. at an hour mark the photo realistic cinnamon is the strongest scent and if you hate cinnamon then forget about oud malinau all together and at one and half hour mark 90% of the scent is cinnamon, though at the 2 hour mark the cinnamon starts to slightly fade and the resinous sweetness of benzoin can be felt mixed with cinnamon and berry candy. the smoky wood notes are faint at this 3 hour mark and the oud turned woodier and sweeter at this point. after this point the scent slowly folds into a benzoin and woody scent with slight vanilla supporting it and the candy notes are gone and i really like this phase (cinnamon still strong here). at the 5 hour+ mark the scent is a faint combination of vanilla, cinnamon, the faintest herbal notes, woods and benzoin. the longevity is around 8 hours and projects decently for 4 hours. the faint vanilla used here is the same as oud kinam that has a very faint natural bitter sweet vanilla aroma that has an effect on the scent from the start to the finish. it affects the scent like if you add a filter to a picture, it adds a special and rare top quality vanilla hue to the scent that i love about this and oud kinam. also from the opening to the 3 hour mark there is a waxy texture to the scent, imagine chewing on natural honeycombs, after 10 minutes there will be a very thin layer of wax coating your teeth, that coating waxy feeling can be felt on here too as a texture that softens the scent. from the 2024 oud releases this one is my least favorite due to the sweeter and spicier nature of it compared to other scents, and i think this one is more feminine because of the overall sweet and candied nature of the scent specially in the opening and the heart (benzoin, berry, cinnamon, vanilla) also this scent have been compared to oud monarch (maybe because of the cinnamon) but imo they are 2 different scent all together and the cinnamon note in oud monarch that appears around 2nd hour mark is nowhere near as amped up as oud malinau.

Pleasant natural woody gourmand scent with a slight spicy sweet vibe to it. The fragrance opens with notes of pepper, mimosa, slight cardamom and beeswax. It moves to a heart of raspberry, cinnamon and cassia. The perfume settles on a base of Indonesian oud and benzoin. The oud is there but it is a supporting player amongst these gourmandish notes. The perfume starts a bit smoky aromatic and then settles to powdery wood resins. It is unisex with moderate projection and very good longevity. Enjoy!

Broken woods... I can define Malinu oud in general by its distinguished woody core. Malinu oud is different than any other oud with its wood base, middle and almost top note as well. Now, Bortnikoff's "Oud Malinu" i more fresh wood like a just broke wood bar! it has an airy note embedded within with herbal notes and light woody base! It's a very light woody airy meniral water blend. Can't deny, this is beautiful.

Crushed up pez cherry-flavoured candy with bone dry, peppery Malinau oud, successfully providing that classic 'white smoke' facet that almost only Bornean oud can give me. Cypriol, heated oud chips, sandalwood and a leathery nuance provide some backbone to the scent. A quite different take from Dmitry's normal style here and I like it.

I don’t agree with the review saying it’s a light, woody, mineral blend - this is straight up cinnamon dusted sour raspberry candy. And the raspberry candy doesn’t blend well, it sticks out and smells weird similar to the way the cherry note in Hindi Oud sticks out and smells out of place
