Chan Chan

Chan Chan Botanicae: at first I didn’t understand this perfume 😅. I had labeled it as "genre Aromatics elixir", and thrown in the metaphorical basket of wrong purchases. But now I owe an apology to this young man here. The fact is that it’s so particular, different from anything I’ve even smelled, that at first it blew me away and sent my olfactory receptors 😬. On the third day of use, I have the complete picture. And I can say with certainty that it is one of the best perfumes I can wear in this late spring 🤩. Now on my skin unfolds in all its magnificence this creamy, dense, almost "oily" gardenia, similar to the one I can smell in the sadly discontinued Volo AZ 686 of Profumum, but also accompanied by a hint of bubble gum. That note that initially made me perceive this perfume as a bitter and repelling scent of woods and sharp resins is probably the cedar wood, which I still smell, but that only serves as an accompaniment, giving this gardenia a dark and sensual twist. In the base, there's the aromatic note of tobacco, on this bed of bitter cocoa powder and tonka that envelop the whole. What to say guys, after learning to know it I find it wonderful, and as I said really original. 🤩

I find this to be a wonderfully balanced, spring time fragrance. The tonka isn't offensive, the gardenia and vanilla are sweet and comforting and fresh and the tobacco helps round it out and give it a bit of depth. It had to grow on me but something about it is a bit adductive and the longevity is about 10 hours on my skin, longer on clothes. I would describe this as a beautiful fragrance, not sexy or cute, but beautiful. Will consider a full bottle for sure!

The fragrance is very interesting and unusual. It's clearly unisex, though I picture it more on a man, because despite its sweetness, there's a hint of roughness. This feeling is heightened by the presence of an artificial element – like rubber or fresh paint – that seems to have mingled with the other, more natural notes. I’m not sure I would wear it myself, as it’s a bit too intense for my taste, but I’d definitely take notice of someone who does – and I’d enjoy being near them and catching their scent.

A fragrance that embodies the soul of a journey: the one to Cuba. Sweet, exotic and tobacco scents make up this fragrance which is sweet, with a barely perceptible tobacco note and accents of white flowers and vanilla. I find it well balanced, easy to wear, definitely for cold seasons.
