Almost Dawn

At first sniff Hinoki was the stand out to me and my favorite from the new mezzanote collection ... BUT After wearing all three fragrances from the collection on skin for a few days my opinion has changed drastically .. this is BY FAR the smoothest and easiest to wear , Hinoki comes off too harsh after the beautiful opening almost burning my nostrils everytime I would smell it off my arm . Almost Dawn on the other hand is smooth like butter and last all day because these are actually all parfum concentration. I don’t have anything in my collection with delectable truffle vanilla and chestnut wood . This is not a gourmond vanilla by the way and its perfectly unisex if anything leans more masculine because of the heavy chestnut wood . All three of these are woody but in different ways. Almost dawn is chestnut wood, Hinoki is obviously Hinoki wood and GoodMorning midnight is oud wood . I just went and purchased my bottle of almost dawn can’t wait to use it this fall/winter . I HIGHLY recommend to try these all on skin as these are very high quality ingredients and change according to your chemistry.

My absolutely favorite fragrance from Bottega Veneta. 20/10 The perfume itself it's amazing. I fell in love with it immediately. Sweet but not too sweet, leathery, airy, absolute elixir of deliciousness. I would describe it as a leathery Vanilla with a twist. Definitely for a refined palate, if you are looking for simple sweet vanilla look away, she's salty and delicious, while maintaining the soft sensual curve of Vanilla. In love! The price is high, but it's justified by the bottle presentation, a gorgeous piece of design, a sculpture well worth the price to treasure and expose even when finished. Well more worth it then many other stupid designer perfumes that cost even more and perform like toilet cleaners in awful, simple bottles and pringles cans... I'd happily spend 420 for this.

So far, Almost Dawn has been my favorite from the Bottega Veneta fragrance line. Yes, it's another vanilla, and I probably don't need to add it to my collection, but the bottle is so chic and aesthetically pleasing that it's hard to resist. The price is prohibitive, especially knowing it was nearly $100 less in Tokyo—I really wish I had purchased it there. Fragrance-wise, it reminds me very much of Nuit et Confidences, with some similarities to Spiritueuse Double Vanille as well, but without the heavy incense note that I personally find off-putting. It's a refined, elegant vanilla that feels warm and sophisticated rather than overly sweet or gourmand.

So this was my favorite of all the ones of this new bottle line, I just wish it wasn't so expensive. There was another one I thought was just okay and the rest weren't bad, they just didn't wow me like this one. It is really good imo. Definitely for me. It's different enough than everything else out there to justify buying it when it comes to a discounter somewhere, which it will, because there's no way they will get the 490 a bottle they want for this. It's a $200 fragrance tops.

Smells like truffle pasta with vanilla dessert

To my nose, the truffle note is too prominent. I would like to say it's a bit food-like. Not my preference, but I appreciate the uniqueness.

This is so synthetic that I feel like my nostrils are burning once I smelt this on my wrist...

***EDIT: My husband walked in the room and said "Whatever you're wearing smells so good!" Proof that covid has ruined some peoples' (mine, not his) smelling capabilities because he seemed to love it while my nose hairs were burning from the chemicals.*** I don’t like it. Can I smell any of the notes listed? No, because of those damn aromachemicals again and this time gave me a headache. They are very strong in this perfume! Smells burnt. I have so many older Bottega Veneta perfumes that I love and none of them are like this. Bummed they stopped production on all the past ones and went for something like this.

This is the only one out of Bottega's latest fragrance collection that I liked. All the other ones lean too harshly in some direction (too spicy, too minerally, even too woody--I didn't even really know this was possible), but Almost Dawn is, to my nose at least, beautifully balanced. I can see clearly that others disagree with me (see below: too truffley). I can also see this being overwhelmingly gourmand to some. The vanilla in here is the standout note. It's a creamy, not cloying vanilla, though it's also far from being a fresh vanilla. The chestnut and truffle don't come forward as individual notes but blend in to lend the vanilla a subtle, sophisticated je-ne-sais-quois. I might just purchase this for the beautiful bottle.

If you’re a vanilla lover but feel like you’ve tried everything and nothing satisfies you anymore, this might be a solution. It has bitter or astringent facets, maybe leathery, or even rubbery? It’s interesting and edgy, I like it.

Despite the note being rather unusual, it has a straightforward, woody scent with a sweet, roasted chestnut aroma. It’s also somewhat reminiscent of Margiela’s Jazz Club or By the Fireplace.
