Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Extreme

Incredibly well done scent. Nothing revolutionary or ground breaking, just an ultra-clean, classic fougere done very well with excellent staying power, like a high quality soap, and I’m here for it. When I first got it, years back now, I was on the hunt for pine and of course this was one that came recommended but it was already difficult to find so I was happy to find a 90mL bottle on clearance during a Lord & Taylor store closing. I remember trying it for the first time and being impressed by the overall scent but it didn’t blow me away since it wasn’t the hyper-realistic pine I was looking for... I think I wanted to smell like I was in the middle of a forest in autumn and could smell the leaves on the ground and the sap oozing down tree trunks or something lol. Regardless, this relatively quickly took a seat on my shelf and collected dust only to be picked up every once in a while to take a sniff in case I wanted to wear it before throwing it back in the box. Fast forward to more recently where it’s finally made its way in to rotation a bit more and I gotta say, I’m really enjoying it. As my fellow commenters have already well stated, there’s nothing sweet going on here, this is a classic fougere done very well.. the zesty bergamot and sparkling fresh juniper berries stand proud, backed by leather, sharp pine and fir’s. The warm spiced nutmeg and pimento compliment the mid very well, while the ambery patchouli and labdanum not only add a smooth leathery touch but also provide an excellent backbone and solid base for the rest of the ingredients to bind to and help stabilize the perfume. With that said, this is a long lasting freshie with respectable silage and moderate projection for the first few hours.. in fact it’s quite strong the first hour and could very well be a bit intense for your co-workers in close quarters. With only a few sprays this scent stays on my skin all day and stays fresh, all day. Even as a skin scent, it’s still there, 12 hours later, smelling fresh and clean just as I remember it. All in all, this is a warm and spicy fresh fragrance that is fairly commanding... nothing delicate or unisex here, nothing bright, happy or playful... this is straight up classic masculine perfumery. For Him “Extreme” is a perfect name for this fragrance. Very fresh, very clean, very bold... No doubt influenced by its predecessors like Old Spice, Polo Green, Versace Dreamer, or Drakkar Noir, yet this remains modern. Aside from the fragrances I just mentioned I’m trying to think of alternatives that may be more readily available for you and what comes to mind first from what I’m familiar with is Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense... the two are very similar just Prada being a bit darker and doesn’t have the pine poking through however they are very close smelling... a few other alternatives would be Creed Viking, Roja Danger, Tom Ford Beau De Jour, and Platinum Egoist.

I enjoyed the original and looked forward to seeing what this one would be like. Well, I didn't have to wait very long to try it as I only learned of extremes existence last week. If anyone ever wanted an 'Extreme' version to do exactly what the name implies then you're in luck. I found this fragrance to be a heighting and amping up exercise which opens with a strong bitter juniper and violet accord which is stronger but just as mystical and aloof as the original version. The base has a musky leather quality and as it settles starts to give an occasional bitter slightly earthy kick of vetiver in the heart. It just seems immediately denser than the original but still overall very similar, if you're expceting something vastly different...it isn't. That's kind of a good thing because although I haven't trialled them side by side I do still have plenty of samples, I think I instantly prefer the extreme version, because the elements that have been 'turned up' make it slightly more appealing. I also got the pine and incense elements slightly more and at times this reminded of comme des garçon Zagorsk but sweetened up. Lasting power is good I can still smell it after a 8 hours. The silage is moderate, to low but from memory the originals longevity wasn't to bad either. I have to say I really like this fragrance and actually enjoy wearing it.

I can’t compare this to the original considering I’ve never smelled it, but as a stand alone fragrance, I really enjoy this. How come nobody told me how good this is! Pine, woods and leather is mostly what I get. It’s dense with an effervescent juniper and bergamot up top, some pimento and nutmeg spice coming from the heart which blends nicely into the mix, and the base is where you’ll get the leathery dry down. Like I said, it has some weight to it from the leather & labdanum, with some sweetness coming from the patchouli. It’s slightly earthy but mostly clean, somewhat soapy and completely masculine, as I couldn’t imagine a woman wearing this. Very well done fragrance, could easily be a cold weather signature fall, winter, and spring. It’s unfortunate this has been discontinued and the price has skyrocketed to an unwarranted price, in my opinion. With that said, there are some alternatives... of course these are not exact but Andy Tauer L’Air Du Desert Marocain, Memo Paris Russian Leather, John Varvatos Dark Rebel/Platinum, Tom Ford Ombre Leather, Amouage Beach Hut, Epic, etc. will put you in a similar field. Performance is good, I average around 7 hours and it smells awesome the whole way through, I love it.

I wore this today, and received an unsolicited compliment at work. It reminded me to write my review of this frag. This is a classy office-friendly fragrance. It manages to be refreshing and high-end all at once. Nice leather slightly sweetened by the juniper that doesn't have the gas/petrol note that some leather has. The pine blends well with it and isn't overpowering. Both the juniper and pine have a cooling effect. It isn't spicy at all....don't let the "extreme" moniker scare you away. Sillage is average and so is performance. It's basically what you expect from a fragrance. While I'm not saying a woman can't wear this, this is definitely in the masculine classification of fragrances. As far as quality it is a high-end designer. It's classy and slightly cool, so I wouldn't wear this to a club or anything like that. It demands respect...so a 20-something that wants to be taken seriously could wear this in a business setting. But while this isn't spicy, some Invictus/Sauvage/Eros fanboys might find this a little too far outside their comfort zone.

I was randomly given a sample of Bottega Veneta Pour Homme, tried it and fell in love with the fragrance. There was just one problem - it lasted only 1-2 hours and and had almost no projection. So I made a blind buy of the Pour Homme Extreme in hopes that it would be a stronger, longer lasting, more present version of the Pour Homme. Luckily, that is exactly what it is. To me, the smell is very, very close to the original, but just stronger and with better longevity. This is my favorite fragrance I've found so far. From opening to ending, it is pleasant, complex and just classy in every way. It's both woody and extremely light and fresh, with a perfect balance of fir, juniper and a light, sweet floral tone. Best of all, most people don't seem to even know of BG or this fragrance, so it's a great signature scent that isn't widespread or mainstream.

This is one of the sensuous, mysterious and classy fragrance. Works very well in cold as well as hot&humid weather. I am comfortable wearing this to office (daytime), 1-2 spray and party (night time), 3-4 spray. It stands out in the crowd and very noticeable. It's for confident and sophisticated person. The fragrance is deep and alluring. The fragrance has excellent silage and longetivity. I have received multiple complements from colleagues while wearing this fragrance. Bel Ami + Rocabar= Bottega Veneta Extreme!!! Not a mainstream scent (altought it comes from a fashion house), two steps over the crowd, but a little bit below the niche standards. it's a leather very fresh and green (pine, juniper and fir) very appealing, not a WOW fragrance, but a very sophisticated one: for me it's suitable in spring, fall, but not in the coldest weather. Iit's not for a teenager, but for people from 30/40 years up. Could be good also with a not too much casual wear, but however very sophisticated!

I hate that this beauty was discontinued. It Was easily my favorite pine needle type fragrance for sure. So gorgeous. Well I'm here to tell you guys I've went ahead and purchased Memo Russian Leather because of the grieving I was going through over losing this one. Russian Leather is everything Bottega Venetta was, but on steroids. Performance in the double digits easily. The smell is also far more potent so you get a lot for your money. I highly recommend.

I really enjoy this, but I wouldn't say it's particularly extreme. Pine, juniper, and leather. Very masculine, but I don't consider this old fashioned at all. Longevity and projection average at best on me, but I still enjoy it. Also works in spring and autumn because of it's subtle nature. Nicely blended and classy. Solid 8 out of 10. Excellent straight up woody masculine scent! Its fairly old school smelling to me with a lovely modern twist from the juniper and leather combo. I get quite a strong vetiver vibe in the drydown also which gives a smooth depth to the composition. Perfect formal scent I imagine working well all year round as an office scent with good longevity and subtle projection. In three words... Classy. Modern. Masculine. 8/10

Bottega PH Extreme is a terrific masculine fragrance. Very well constructed. The pine, leather, juniper, and fir notes really stand out with a subtle smoky essence. The combination really works well. Highly recommended if you like earthy notes. Longevity is perhaps not the best, but I can live with the shorter endurance if the fragrance is high quality. This was a blind buy and I'm quite impressed.

I tried bottega veneta pour homme extreme version, which has a good longevity and silage, the scent is very similar, but a little denser and more intense. I prefer the original version because of its lightness, despite of its poor performance. So I have a full 90 ml bottle of the extreme version, and I would trade it for the original version. Class, sophistication, noble, macho with a class, pride, confidence, calm, serene and elegant! The masculine master piece of our generation, period. The only leather perfume that is wearable from a perfumery art view! Because fragrances like tf or other leather based are scents and not perfumes, because wearing a leather jacket is a leather jacket scent not a perfume!

This is fresh, manly and elegant. It’s not a crowd pleaser and it’s not a “safe” fragrance. But then again who wants to smell like everyone else? It has a good longevity and good sillage. No it’s not groundbreaking but it’s definitely unique. Can be pulled off all year long and could be considered as a work fragrance as well as for outings.

Great masculine scent. I get leather dominating mixed well with pine and juniper. Very similar vibe to Guerlain Lhomme Ideal EDP. Can be signature scent, date, and formal. Too classy for casual use IMO. Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 6/10 Versatility: 8/10 Season: F/W/S

Smelled today. Really enjoyed more than original pour homme. I had not paid much attention to this house in the past. If anyone wants to trade this off I would be very interested in a swap.

Need a solid winter fragrance to my collection. This is super manly very 80s inspired. Smells like a fresh winters night. Gonna have to add this to my collection soon.

I like it Not a surprise because it shares much with Tsar and loewe esencia. It shares some encre noir qualities as well.

For now as Im wearing it. I found it's better than the original one. Bitter and darker.

Like the original, this too is an easy to like scent that steers clear of much of the fragrance mainstream: no sweetness, minimal citrus, no watery notes, yet still clean enough to be highly wearable. Comparing the original and extreme side by side, the opening is fairly similar. The extreme version is greener, if anything, with more fir/pine -- though again, not like a Christmas tree but rather like resins. The juniper note gives it a more medicinal quality. When the top fades, woods become to the forefront with vetiver sneaking in and something like sandalwood. Not a lot of spices sadly. The base of the original has a lot of labdanum with a musky-yet-soapy quality; the same notes are noticeable in the flanker too, but slightly grittier: more leather with a hint of wet soil -- not sure what note is causing that. The result is something that is darker, but still not truly dark. Good for spring and autumn. Pour Homme's main selling point to me was the quality of the blend: very coherent and elegant. In Extreme, they definitely dialled up some of the notes more than others (greenery at the start, soil + leather later) which makes it feel less balanced. Still, if you own one, you wouldn’t really need the other as they are 80% the same. Sadly, that extends to performance too. I get about 4-5 hours and most of that as a skin scent, which is about an hour more than Pour Homme. Not what I’d expect from something called Extreme, but to be fair, it’s decidedly middle-of-the-road for a modern EdT. In sum, to me, this is a 7/10 fragrance with 6/10 performance, while the original is an 8/10 fragrance with 4.5/10 performance. Given that it’s discontinued, prices have really gone up. If you can get it for a similar price to the original (I paid ~50 pounds for 90 ml), it’s worth buying I think. It’s still a nice, understated departure from most designer scents. If you want something a bit lighter though, or if the extreme version costs a lot more, I’d go for the OG instead.

Very lovely juniper, pine, and leather with a great pimento note. The leather is very soft and supple, not especially prominent, but still very much noticeable. It is serious, masculine, and quite sexy, with a smidge of freshness that makes me think that it would work well in warmer weather as well as during the autumn and winter. However, like other Bottega Veneta fragrances I've tried, the performance was poor for me - around 3 hours longevity, and limited projection and sillage. Ultimately, I sold it; but still I get cravings for it. I've since sampled Russian Leather by the house of Memo Paris, and as other reviewers have noted, can affirm that they are quite similar, though Russian Leather is superior in terms of scent profile and performance. I'll be picking up a bottle eventually. Still, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Extreme is a classy, sexy, very well composed fragrance hearkening back to the old favorites that could shake up your winter rotation of sweet and spicy orientals. I just wish it lasted longer on my skin. 7/10

its been a good while since i was impressed by a designer scent especially a edt but today it has finally happened :) i was on my way to do some running around and didn't wanna bust out the big guns so i reached for my testers and just happen to pull out this beauty i have never liked any of the bottega veneta fragrances and i have tried the none extreme version of this before and wasn't impressed at all but today it was a whole different story this scent smelt great off the bat almost niche like which i wasn't expecting at all even projection was on point hours after its initial spray i must say that this reminded me of a lighter and cheaper version of Ermenegildo Zegna - Peruvian Ambrette even tho it doesn't seem to share any of the notes so if your looking for a none designer smelling scent for a designer scent price this is the way to go! on to the next

A great office fragrance (in this case, it's a compliment). Very elegant and creative. The tandem Roche/Maisondieu worked well here. Indeed, Daniela Roche - whose work for Prada did not impress me at all - managed to add some elegance to the raw creativity of Antoine Maisondieu: it seems to be a restructured version of ELdO Rien (just the concept of bold leather, not that they share similarities). The perfect office fragrance for Fall, probably fitting better 40+ men (The alter-ego of Dunhill Edition with a twist of modernity, and a style similar to Jacques Bogart Bogart - but much more refined and contemporary). Despite its name, the performance is moderate, but beware: I can see this one becoming easily unsafe in a professional environment if oversprayed, so stay cool with the trigger! A successful blind buy, and a love for me.

I was really excited when I found out this came out, because I sampled the original this fall and loved it but hated the longevity/projection. I picked up a sample of this one, and a sample of the original and sprayed one on each hand. They smell pretty much identical, except that the extreme version is much more dense but without any increase in projection. The longevity is about the same, and after two hours the fragrances smell exactly the same. I believe the prices are the same for both, but I think if I were to buy one of these, I would buy the original in the gift set so that I could layer with the aftershave (and probably increasing the longevity by doing so). Overall, both are really nice scents but don't expect to turn too many heads as the projection is minimal for both.

JUNIPER GALORE. Just tried it and I do like it a lot. Very manly and masculine, but distinctively so. Imagine a man in a Savile Row, made-to-measure suit, colour matched (charcoal preferred) and non-dandy. Or someone who loves the countryside. I could imagine Ben Foegle to smell like this when he dresses up and comes to town. This is NOT a metro-sexual affair, nor is it flamboyant. Just a true man's scent, old-worldy, no fuss, woody-fougere with that 'fresh new leather' quality of unpacking a new pair of shoes. Solid and sound but not a ground-breaker. Sometimes less is more. Very good and conservative effort. Good longevity for an Eau de Toilette. 7/10. Very safe gift for a man above 45, who loves conservative scents.

My husband likes the green, leathery notes which he says smells expensive! A dark scent that would be suitable for a suit and tie event at night rather than a jeans, t-shirt and leather jacket as the scent is too heavy to be a daytime scent, and the leather notes combined with the woodsy notes elevates the scent to an intense dry down. A sophisticated fragrance with great sillage and the longevity okay. I find this quite sensual in a conservative kind of way when I smell it. Highly recommended.

This scent doesn't get the attention it deserves. It offers a subtle blend of leather, firs, and lime that create an wholly original and under appreciated bouquet that suggests restraint, sophistication, and refinement. As it dries down, subtle forests and woods come to the fore. At this point, it's a skin scent that last for hours. The uniqueness of the scent won me over and I've worn it on multiple occasions. I switched from the original edt to this discontinued Extreme, and I'm happy for it. This has nice longevity, whereas the original had poor. And while they smell quite similar, Extreme has a slightly stronger green forest feel, while that bitter suede note (charcoal grey) is in more of a supporting role - which is just what I was looking for. Good stuff! Tip: A good replacement can be found in the Afnan clone Supremacy Noir.

The designer version of memo Russian leather Cold pine and some nice fresh woods but without the mint ...it's classic barbershop frag without the lavender...you can smell some cold synthetic vanilla like note in the background (usually comes from the pine leather mix) It's classy and amazing for fall and spring however the performance is such a shame for a perfume named extreme

I love this fragrance, I have small bottle for like 4 years now and I am using this scent very rarely, just because I enjoy it so much. For me it is very fresh, dark and masculine. The only downside I am aware of is that on my skin it lasts for only hour or two, so I can't enjoy it for too long.

A stronger but poorer flanker. /Heavy, dark, for a green scent. Tries to have a little airiness. /Green fougere, simple but well blended /Deep but also a little too dense /Not balanced It does not have the same airiness and hint of sweetness as the OG. It's heavier and spicier. This doesn't smell that great compared to the OG, but performs better. 6.5/10 | Good Longevity, Poor Sillage

This starts off well, with an initial blast of woods, pine and leather.. but unfortunately it dries down to some kind of shower gel or bar of soap kind of scent.. while it smells fresh and pleasant it doesn't really give you much in terms of scent and it has very poor projection and longetivity.. I'm disappointed with this one.

I was looking for something new and tested this one with several others. I really liked the smell of this one and the price wasn't that bad and decided to give it a try. The smell is really nice. It has this leather and wood like smells in it but still it has a high rate of freshness. However, although I like the smell of it, I discovered it doesn't work for me. Even if I spray myself completely from top to bottom the smell is gone within an hour. I could only smell it when holding those parts I sprayed directly under my nose and even than it was barely noticable. Also spraying on my clothes didn't work. And nobody noticed I had even used any. So sillage is definitely poor too. For me it's really a dissappointment that it's gone so quickly. But for others it seems to be working fine. The smell itself is very good. I have eventually thrown the bottle away.

Similar but not as good as the original, or even the EDP for that matter. The other two have a better balance, with the EDP definitely significantly deeper, not many high notes really, and this one the opposite- like someone turned the bass off in a song. It has a sharp top with not much to balance afterwards. In the collection, the original PH is by far the best, with a good intro of pine and pimento, leading into that nice cola-like leather vibe. Don’t fall for this one based on performance alone, its really not that much better than the PH in that regard, and the scent itself is nowhere near as full or classy as the original.

I put this in the wrong place originally - on the page of the standard version. I do see the notes lists of this and the standard version are very similar. But I find the scents quite different: the standard one is smooth & suave, whereas this is long-uncleaned-ashtray skanky. And it's one of the best at rendering that kind of skank I have come across. Love this one for that. Or was I thinking of the Pour Homne Parfum when I said " ... smooth & suave ... "? I think I might have been. In fact, this reminds me that I've often wanted to try Jasmine et Cigarette by État Libre D'Orange. Just read a few more of the reviews. I've seen cypress mentioned - totally agree with that. I'm a bit surprised no-one else says it is at all ashtrayish - I seem to be rather alone there. But I do stick to it - to me it has just enough of that to ramp-up its funk to a high pitch, but stopping short of actually smelling full-on like an ... well, an ashtray that's been emptied but not wiped-out, so that it's got a well-matured encrustation of charred nicotiney tars on the bottom. That's what I'm getting at: a bit of that kind of funk. To me it does have that. I think it might be the cypress - that note does tend to come across to me in that way. I look again ... no cypress in the notes-list. Veedabestchef says the standard version smells cypressy, though. I think there's cypress in it. Or whatever ... I don't know really. These are my impressions, anyway. And these variations on BV's 'Pour Homme' are getting me a bit confused!

For any man that uses an electric shaver (ie a Norelco), you might be familiar with the pre-shave called Lectric Shave (green juice, black label/black cap). You can find it at all Wal-Marts, pharmacy drugstores etc. Really it's the best way to shave with an electric shaver, just like foam shaving cream is one of the most popular ways to shave with a razor. They go hand-in-hand. Well, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Extreme is insanely similar smelling to Lectric Shave. Whether that's good, bad or neutral for you, that is what this stuff smells like exactly. It has that old-school barbershop smell to it, ie the smell of being freshly shaved (in this case, freshly shaved with an electric shaver). If you don't own this fragrance and want to know exactly what it smells like, just buy a bottle of Lectric Shave and give it a whiff or splash some on. You will get a 98% similar smell. Also just a word of warning, this is most definitely an old-school style scent (in line with Eau Sauvage and many other dated old-school mens fragrances from the 90/80's and older). You will have the smell of a mature older man, not of a playful younger man. If a women smells this, they will likely tell you it smells like their dad, uncle or perhaps even grandpa.

thats EXACTLY how "extreme" or "intense" versions should be done. school example. chapeau. so many houses get it all wrong, creating "extremes" by totally ruining original concepts, mixing it with some boring "oriental" feel, and in often cases the performance is not extreme at all. this one just says "did you like to original so much that you want to go a notch higher? lets go then"...thats all what it is, it is the exact same concept as pour homme, honestly, despite the note listing, there is not one note that i could identify as being different, it is just fuller, louder and performs better (although poor homme was not one to complain about either) if you ve tried the original one, and you felt like , ok this is interesting and will wear it with moderate spraying once in a while...ok, you dont need this bottle. if you tried the original and felt like you could bath in it, then totally go for extreme.

If this was put in a Tom Ford PB bottle and priced 3-4 times higher, people would be jumping over themselves to praise it.... An absolutely gorgeous update of some of the classic fragrances from the 70s-80s but you would barely know it unless you are familiar with them. Its performance is absolutely perfect too, and benefits a lot from the heat of Spring or Autumn. But sadly, sometimes it seems some of the greatest fragrances are scarcely available to purchase and then disappear. BTW, the Sergio Tacchini fragrance listed here in comparison is a great one and also a favourite of mine, but it goes in a different direction - more lime and styrax and much fresher. Both are well worth having for different occasions.

One of those fragrances that can only truly be understood on a full wearing, beautiful experience. It instantly makes you feel serious, thoughtful, responsible, clean, very sophisticated and classy, IMO. Thin green pine scent with some smooth dark leather accord, there's an arc to this scent, not as cool and minty like Memo's Russian Leather, but definitely more sharp, upscale, dry, creates a very nice scent bubble. There is a peculiar plasticky feeling in the back, but it doesn't bother me too much. Solid scent profile nonetheless. 8/10

The greener notes in this reminds me of "old-school" fragrances like those in the Bogart line. It's fresher, but loses the dark edge the original has. The fragrance is only a bit more pronounced thanks to those green notes which make a lasting impression on my skin. However, if you were a big a fan of the dark leather in the original, it plays more of a background role in the Extreme version. Not a bad scent, but the direction is not what I wanted from this.

Got damn it, its awesome. This is a heavy hitter, it deserves hype. This I feel doesn't get the attention it deserves. This is it, if you want a phenomenal casual or special occasion scent grab this one, not that expensive like Tom Ford or Creed. Its all balanced not too fruity, sweet, spicy, woody or floral, blended masterful. The par fum is good but not as good is this because it went sweeter, instead of maintaining all the original notes.

Wow, coming from someone who does not like leather at all. This is knew classic and standard for fresh modern masculinity without over doing it. No fruits, sweets or flowers. It’s just well executed. I tip my hat of to Daniela Andrier, the powdery specialist. Just an about every age of women complimented this. In my top 15 favorite fragrances of all time. Masterful

Greeny/pine-ish leathery modern. Masculine statement for intelligent man. This scent energized you in way when you look right in front of you. With this scent you live in the present time. You don't have questions in mind like what others think? When you want to little suppress your sensibillity to others, because you are tired of your receptivity. This is it!

A master piece just like the original. This is a Mans scent, all around casual or dress up scent. One of the few masculine scents thats fresh and will turn heads to a niche or designer nose. I't doesnt have to use the overly used fruity and sweet notes to grab your attention. I would put this in the top 20 masculine scents of all time.

Love the original, but there's something about this one I don't really like. I feel like the Juniper note gets really overwhelming after about the 30-minute mark. The original however, is gorgeous but its performance is unbearable for such a beautiful scent. So much potential in the notes here.
