Déjà Minuit

Without a shadow of a doubt my signature fragrance. The perfect amount of sweetness and warm spice with the most beautiful, complex, sophisticated, and stunning dry down on my skin of vanilla, cinnamon, humble patchouli, and cardamom that projects/performs like a dream. For the first hour or so, I can understand people's gripes about the very strong citrus, cardamom, and geranium initial spray being very powerful and, for some, slightly headache-inducing. However, aside from the sheer sophistication and beauty of this scent, I do also give some merit to the argument that $450 for this fragrance is quite an unreasonable price. For this fragrance, being my signature scent, which causes me to be biased, I do think the price should fall at LEAST at $325 and at MOST $370. However, the upsides of this scent cannot at all be brushed aside. The projection is strong but not overpowering or overbearing, and the performance on skin lasts about a little over 8 hours with the performance on clothing lasting for what seems like forever in a positive way! The harsh initial note of citrus becomes a pleasant backup dancer, and the headstrong cardamom dries down into a very warm, sensual, and spicy accord. The bottle design, along with the malachite bottle stand, is very beautiful, an amazing conversation piece, a fine decoration, uniquely designed in an artisanal fashion, and not at all "tacky" or "gimmicky". This scent, as many agree, is suitable for day and night for all seasons except summer. During the summer, the sweetness can become a bit cloying, or the scent can become overly spicy, overbearing, and most of all, headache-inducing - amazing for every occasion, time of day, and season (except summer). I do stand by the fact that this scent does not at all smell synthetic, and smells very natural and organic. On a controversial note, I can see why this scent is disliked on women. Unless, in my opinion, you are a very powerful or respected businesswoman with a powerful aura or a more masculine personality in tandem with classiness, this is not suited for you whatsoever - in my humblest opinion.

I like that on reviewer mentioned Tiger Balm, there is definitely a camphoraceous medicinal quality to this scent. The opening feels a little vintage, like an early 90s men’s classic fragrance. There is certainly a grapey (likely the orange blossom) boozey coumarin blast going on in the middle that leans towards Le Male. I’ve never been a fan of this and the same can be said here. In the dry down, it goes much woodier and dryer with vetiver and amber (in the Ambrox family, not necessarily vanilla). There is certainly a sharp quality to the musky amber base. It’s pleasant from a distance but up close it’s headache inducing. I wouldn’t go for a full bottle, and I probably wouldn’t wear the sample again either

This is absolutely gross. I can't imagine anyone wearing this scent. A definite scrubber for me. It taught me once again to not trust these Tiktok reviewers who are paid to say nice things about gifted bottles.
