Illusione Bois Nu

Love at first sniff. I'm yet to give it a full wearing but based on a spray on the wrist, it's airy, light spicy, a touch of licorice (to my nose), and some musk that creates a beautiful intimate scent bubble a la another 13, CK Be etc.. the dry down is a bit more peppery but it's not super pronounced pepper. Great price at discounter and unique. I say it leans slightly masculine but if you are a woman don't be scared to sample. I will update this review as I do a full wear, but for now it's a definite yes for me. Edit: Still love, as far as performance the projection is weak but the sillage is noticeable as I get whiffs throughout the day and it lasted a solid 6-7 hours on my skin and longer on my clothes. In fact it's been almost a week and I can still smell it on the sweater I wore. I think I picked up 50 ml for 37 bucks at discounter and went ahead and ordered me another 50 ml because I dig it so much and it's a great price. PLUS not many colognes I've tried has this type of performance and scent. Many colognes are either projection monsters, or weak, or strong in the beginning but fades within 4-5 hours. This one isn't abrasive but lasts and gives a consistent scent bubble.

This is very nice, soapy classy, and tropical. In the opening, it smells quite nerolish and the tropical aspect similar to those 90s escadas for women comes in quickly, but it is tamed and there is a noticeable soapy backbone so I guess that makes this for males, but it is very unisex. The dry down is very pretty elegant and gentle tropical vanilla soap upon patchouli. I definitely will buy this one. update (27/11/21): Now that I have it I can add that it is powdery and from the same family as Prada L'homme L'eau, both fresh powdery and soapy, Prada is about iris and ginger, and Bois Nu is about monoi oil and patchouli. Both scents are gorgeous.

Creamy, woody, akigalawood. It's a very sensual woody fragrance as a nemu suggest "Bois Nu" - "Naked Wood". It's a shame that the whole mainstream line of their fragrances is discontinued. It's not a loud fragrance, but pleasant.

I had a bunch of samples of this and decided, what the hell, why let these go to waste. The opening is a very well-rounded off sweet citrus, no bitterness for me, alas. Patchouli seamlessly blended in with the monoi oil so what I got on my skin resembled a thick-ish oily tiare with a refreshing patchouli blast comparable to something with a bit of mint to it. The moment I applied the scent, I knew I was in for some very good time as it left a wonderful first impression. The citrus is vibrant, sparkly, does not, thank goodness, in any way resemble cleaning products. What made me happy was the lack of the obligatory lavender/geranium/lemon/musk/rosemary notes mish-mashed into one utter aftershave scent stereotype. Welp. Bad news, the great experience does not exactly last beyond the top/heart notes. These disintegrate rather quickly (my skin burned these off within an hour of wear) exposing a rather bland base. I can't say the base is by any means bad, no, don't get me wrong. You do get a strong steady woody note with some powdery vanilla but... That's really it. I guess, if it wasn't for the opening giving me such great hopes and expectations, I wouldn't be in for disappointment. Verdict: a solid mainstream brand perfume. It is good, you will have a great time with it (ofc speaking from my subjective point of view so treat this with a healthy dose of skepticism), it's definitely vibrant and bouncy. However, you will have to reapply rather constantly if you want to prolong the great experience once the initial gloss wears off. It's definitely a thing modern fragrances are guilty of. Namely, selling you the perfect first impression, the instant gratification but once you purchase a bottle and give it a fair test run, it's bound to be disappointing. Having said that, the longevity is very good. You should be able to smell the scent for 7 hours + The downside is the silage. Alas, it's very poor. Would I recommend this scent? Yes and no. Yes, because it's a fairly inexpensive pleasing scent (I saw this heavily discounted), somewhat more creative from the whatever the modern market can offer. No, because of all the reasons I've mentioned. Solid piece but far from being complete.

Through a fugg of pointless releases this perfume appears to have some clarity and focus of vision to it. At first it's an all too familiar citrus and peppery wood opener, which also leans toward and sparkling G'n'T vibe, which is fine but doesn't exactly scream original or quality and had it continued with IES and vetiver tropes, I might've been much less favorable in my comments, not because it's bad, just kinda old hat. As it stands when this dries down it transforms, pushing way more in a floral direction. For those guys not man enough to rock a massive tuberose or lash fanning jasmine, don't despair. This stuff is the perfect level of floral or men, it's tone is that of a underplayed violet leaf type thing, but doesn't smell like Violet. All I can think is that it must be this Monoi oil. Now I only say that because the accord is not a recognizable one and I just clocked it in the notes here, I'm not familiar with the material but if this is accurately what it's like, then I like it a great deal. Pleasantly surprised by this then, kudos to BV for not kowtowing to popular fragrance cliches and fashion of the moment and making something which smells original (at least to me) if not perhaps the most dynamic perfume in the world.. It's certainly in keeping with the brand aesthetic, it smells like a BV, style wise at least and that's not a bad thing because they are an excellent fragrance brand.

If I smelled this blind, I would think it is a sweetened orange blossom fragrance similar to Reflection Man, Ambre des Abysses, and Gucci Guilty Elixir. When you look a bit closer however, you can see the tiare flower take shape. It has a bit of a beachy sunscreen character. On the drydown it is almost like if you mashed the clean white floral Reflection Man and the sweet suntan lotion 1 Million Parfum together. But it is lighter than either. It has a citrus buoyancy to it. It just lives in that space. This is a really great fragrance in my opinion. Sweet, floral, clean — a bit understated but in a good way, this one is subtle. Amazing value as well. 8.6/10

Great Spring and Summer fragrance. Different from what’s out there Classy and gives a gentleman’s vibe but some ladies may like it. Not a projector but a great versatile warm weather fragrance. Got a 50 ml at a good price due to its the only size I could find due to discontinued rumblings. But it’s a good one to try and add to collection. 4/5.

Interesting scent. Opens up woody and citrusy. Dries down to a powdery, woody, iris-like scent with a tropical twist from the monoi oil. It has a similar scent profile as : City of Stars by Louis Vuitton - powdery, citrusy and floral. The monoi oil gives this scent a very feminine direction. Sample before buying.

This smells like aftershave.(not in a bad way) You will find this pretty cheap everywhere, but the opening is good- after that its alright. I bind bought this one. Not too disappointed with this as I use it layer with other scents.

Pretty much smells like the original except less intense and with an added monoi note.

The good thing is I found a bottle cheap but will go through it in no time as the projection is awful for me. Amazing scent and certainly unique. I really don’t smell much citrus at all after the first few minutes. The monoi oil, patchouli and vanilla is about it which isn’t a bad thing resulting in a masculine clean powdery scent. It’s like a very high quality floral tanning oil scent. Highly recommend if you want to smell different. I would recommend a tester as I blind bought my bottle and can’t see this scent being appealing to all men.

As tropical as an Eastern European city. Interesting at the beginning, disappointing later on. Solid longevity.

There’s a vintage note in the dry-down, maybe floral, maybe something else, but whatever it is, it really turns me off. The fragrance itself is light, but just not my thing at all. Rating: 4/10

Almost a blind purchase, as I already had the Illusione 2020 version, I decided to go for this. Not exactly a full review since I had this only two days. All previous reviews for the Illusione Bois Nu have a bit of truth, e.g., the opening, the middle monoi note, and the vanilla at the dried out. Yet, not that good in performance as the "original" Illusione, which was not a champion in sillage and longevity; yet, a descend performance. Here, we are much weaker. However, if you find it at a discount price -as I did- you can try it. UPDATE: Really, the performance is the issue here... Sprayed in the morning, at one hand this and on the other Le Beau by Jean Paul Gaultier, the latter is still there (ca. 6 hours) with a pleasant character. Bois Nu is much more complex and interesting than Le Beau, but overall, not there to feel it...unfortunately!

I wouldn't call this tropical at all. In fact, it's so similar to the original that I had to go back and test them side by side. The opening is identical to the original for me. But when you smell the drydown, there is a tropical flower oil smell, the Monoi Oil. It is subtle, but a nice twist on the original. I think the original is really solid and this is a nice variation. No need to own both, however. Just pick your favorite and that should scratch the itch. I get good projection for about 4 hours and then it settles and becomes a nice skin scent for about 7-8 hours. The sharp lemon/bergamot sticks around for a good while.

I am very suprised to smell this kind of fragrance in a man’s line. It smells so delicate, very subtle and solar as well. I smell a CK be vibe in Illusione. I guess it is a real challenge to launch such a perfume when all the masculine scents on the market are saturated with powerful woods and sweet caramels notes...

Very acidic, citrus smell in the opening, but as time goes, the middle notes starts showing up, which covers most of the citrus smell and turning it into a woody and relaxing smell. Overall, a masterpiece, solid performance for a fresh fragrance (5+ hours).
