Parco Palladiano XI: Castagno

I have a love/hate relationship with this one, my first from the Parco Palladiano collection, and i almost have them all, this is a really unique smell it is spicy and so fresh at the same time i don't find the herbal tone that the others Parco Palladiano's have and yet the elegance is there, you will be notice with this one in a crowded room! But here lies the problem, on my skin is too loud too intense i only can stand 2 sprays one on my hand and one on my clothes and 12 hours later is still strong! In the right dose it has a calming effect on me. In my little country we have a flower that everyone calls "Flor Del Muerto" and it is sold in a great market called "Mercado Central" (Central Market) i think is Marigold the name lf the flower but when you enter this Market you can smell this parfum in the air! Because of the combination of this Flor del Muerto, wood and spices that are been sold! It js unbelievable. The quality in this one is uncanny! But try it first! Lemongrass, ginger, and chestnuts surrounded with a honeyed, woody base. What a great fragrance to wear into Spring/Summer that doesn't incorporate florals or fruit. I get no smokiness or incense whatsoever, though I can see how some may interpret the black pepper and cumin as a kind of herbal smokiness. Not campfire nor church incense for me either. If you're familiar with ginger candy, this evokes memories of that ooey-gooey, taffy-like candy that's lightly dusted with powdered sugar. And, kind of like how that ginger candy sticks in your teeth, Castagno will stay with you for quite some time, but in a pleasant kind of way.

I am definitely in the minority because I was really disappointed with this scent. Bottega Veneta has been a great find for me in the past. I have their first two masculine scents and the Magnolia unisex fragrance which is a beauty. Okay, so I love the chestnut note in Replica-Fireplace and I read that this scent has it too so that caught my attention. The head scratcher though is that this is a fresh/warm weather scent. Long story shortened.......chestnut, to me, is best for heavier/woody/cold weather aromas.

If the super dry spiced up woodiness in the discontinued Gucci Pour Homme is your jam, then by all means try Castagno. The drydown reminds me so much of GPH. Obviously I'm not saying these two are identical but they definitely give out the same scent profile. One prominent difference is at the top Castagno has the chestnut note, neither sweet nor too gourmand-y.

After wearing it for about two hours I was finally struck by the scent when a breeze came up behind me. Beautiful, so when I looked it up again on here and another scent website I was surprised to see it rated it so low. Then I thought about the manufacturer, the brand, I get the feeling it's rated lower because of the high price.

#1423 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Right off the bat, I own Bentley "For Men Absolute." Great scent that I absolutely recommend. This is not that. This is not even close. The main features here are smoky chestnut and oak. You can get everything else this offers in a half dozen nice scents like Armaf "Evoke Blue Homme" and "Eternia Man", Franck Olivier "Sun Java Intense", Terre D'Hermes "Flacon H", Dunhill "Icon Racing Red." What you will not get from any of those, or the Bentley, or the Amouage "Boundless" others think they smell, is the nuttiness and oak. That makes this scent. You will get it with Maison Margiela Replica "By the Fireplace", a scent I like very much, but would like a lot more in an EDP (I have not tried out the Replica EDPs since the buzz on them was so awful.). But the Replica, in addition to being only EDT in potency, lacks the olibanum that really anchors this scent. This Bottega Veneta fits in with nutty scents like Armani "Stronger with You", JPG "Scandal Pour Homme", "Givenchy "Gentleman Reserve Privee", Rayhaan "Corium", Fragrance World "Ace", Hugo Boss "Boss Bottled EDP", Etat Libre D'Orange "Frustration", but what makes this stand out from all of them is the strong olibanum. It makes this a really delicious smoky, nutty, woody, very masculine scent that I like. It's nice stuff, but just a moderate performer. If I were going to drop this kind of money for a scent like this, there's a better choice in Scents of Wood "Praline in Maple." Mind you, I hate their damn bottles. (The heart shape reminds me of anatomy class and cutting up dead animals). But that scent kicks ass! Performs a bit better than the Bottega Veneta. Not a scent for most women, but not aggressively masculine either. You can get a decant of Scents in Wood "Praline in Maple" from scentsplit.com for $5.99 to try before you buy. Also, Dua Fragrances has a dupe of that scent that's $33 for 34ml that's pretty good. FragrancesLine.com has decants of the Bottega Veneta "Parco Palladiano XI Castagno" for $8.99. Do try a decant before spending $100 plus on any fragrance. Both of these will likely run you $200-250, so be sure it's worth it to you. All that said. This is a nice scent that will work in any environment for men. But you'll probably want to re-apply at lunch.

I do enjoy this one but I find it a bit more masculine than I prefer. I generally gravitate towards unisex and even masculine fragrances but this one is a bit too dark for my tastes as a woman. If only the opening would stay longer- a bit citrusy and peppery. I find the dry down is very much like burning kindling before adding the wood- the chestnut note. It's very pronounced here, I find and makes it heavier than I wish it was. I find my sweet spot is layering it with my Parco Palladiano fave, Pera (III). THAT is nice combination. Overall, a lovely fragrance and I'm sure this would be stunning on a man.

Opens very peppery and gingery over the top of strong woods. As it dries a prominent chestnut note and a somewhat sugary sweetness comes through. Then the strong woodiness gets smoky and a little (Grand Marnier) boozy the further it goes. Very nice, you could kind of consider this as what has been voted so far, half mix of Gucci PH with its smoky dry woods and half Noir Exquis with its sweet woody chestnut notes. Maybe even a bit of Spicebomb in there. If you like by the fireplace and want it more masculine (less sweet) and stronger woods (and peppery) then this might be worth your time.

I think this is smoky, incensey and woody. Leaning more masculine. Very long lasting and polarized towards the drydown. Projection is moderate. This perfume has never a sweet smell at all that makes me like it. The drydown has some resemblance to Amouage Memoir, but Memoir is more beast. Overall not bad, i will keep it in my collection.

Parco XI (First Impression) Easy to use, stronger with you without coiling sweet note, by the fire that woodier. Smell like festive, smell of sweet tree. I find this sexy. On friend skin, gives Vanilla Diorama vibe, I think skin plays chemical role. If your skin push vanilla kind of thing and it cover the woodiness, game end, no magic happen. ===== Full Review on July 24, 2024 Bottega Parco XI is woody-spicy scent being unique with Castagno (Chestnut) note. In this, It is not overly sweet and merge very well with woody side of this blend. This is smooth and softly sweetened. Scent open with spiciness while woody accord build up - I notice certain amount of Cumin as main ambient of the show the spicy note with texture - In this - I think it merge to oak wood accord very well provide slight rough texture to the scent, This scent build around Super-Amber (Ambermax) as it is noticeable later when scent start to hit heart note however I don't find this sharp to my nose, it might cover by the spiciness note and I like in this kind of interpretation. It is not overdose. During the heart note, I really digging this scent. Textured Wood with slight cumin spiceness but adding the creaminess similar to Chestnut Cream. Where I do like is the whip of Chestnut cream that hitting me from time to time. Also, I feel like there is slight barbershop vibe going on here, woody - spicy manner. I think Parco Palladiano - XI Castagno shines the most is modern classic masculine interpretation of mild sweeten chestnut cream and wood, spicy undertone. It is not shouting and stable. However, due to it strong Amber-based, I don't find this smooth as other from the line. But, Consider uniqueness of unsweetened chestnut note and steady page. Parco XI could easily be your selection from Woody-Spicy, soft Barbershop-estique. Kind of way. 7/10

Drive-by disappointment: hoped for something dry, sophisticated and sheer like most of the other Parcos, but with enough distinctive chestnut to make it worthwhile. Still searching for a fragrance which really makes that floury, nutty, earthy, sweet unique note work - and sadly this isn't it. Instead, a pretty anonymous mid-to-light powdery wood, skewing slightly male but unisex and classy enough to be acceptable anywhere on anyone. Feels authentic and not at all harsh, but it just didn't really score big on any metric, AND longevity and projection both pitiful. So, really sorry to say, this one was a no-hit game of conkers for me - and especially not at this price point.

This stuff smells Alluring Amazing. Me as a man, this is more masculine done right, for the man indeed. Its a light Fresh Spicy Woodsy scent. Its Very elegant, refined and sophisticated. This will get you noticed, every one that sniffed me loved it. I just bought #2 Cypress and Bottega Veneta Pour Homme. This one will be on my next purchase hit list, a full bottle. #2 Cipress and this one # XI Castagno are the very best for men. Exclusive Saks 5th Avenue or Bottega Veneta Outlet. Go get it!!

Awesome. A scent that has to experienced, to feel what I'm saying. Its like its simple, but a well done spiced chestnut scent. Leans masculine. Its a pretty smooth scent, not cloying, not underblended, or not to many notes that could make it confusing . I'll be testing the performance with samples I have. Its worth a try for anyone though. This will make a statement with the ladies as I worn and receive good feedback. The best line I received ' You smell like man should smell."

I love this - it reminds me of being in the Andalusian countryside villa with my Spanish relatives roasting chestnuts in an open fire surrounded by the orange groves. Not sure I would buy full size only because it doesn't come in a smaller size, otherwise would be in my to buy full size list.
