Boucheron

(Vintage EdP, bottle c. 1992) My how times have changed. This EdP was Boucheron’s debut in 1988, and two notable things happened: firstly, they released an EdT and EdP. Boucheron was all-in on the EdP concentration from the get-go, and even released Pour Homme as an EdT and an EdP, the latter of which was unheard of for a men’s fragrance. They were ahead of the concentration trend it took the majority of brands to get to by more than a decade. Secondly while on the topic of Pour Homme, they didn’t release the men’s version of Boucheron for another three years after this debut. Today, a brand would release everything in two formats, an EdP and a parfum concentration, and there would be at least five perfumes in the debut in the first year - not two in a span of three years. This modus operandi of taking your time and doing something different shows in the quality of the perfumes the brand released. Some of it is predictable though. A tuberose forward amber was hardly anything new for 1988, but the opening was certainly attention grabbing. Orange blossom, basil, blackcurrant and hesperidics create a very energetic yet quite odd melange of soft orange fruit, white florals, anisic/licoricey earthiness, green notes, a stiff animalic musk type facet, and plenty of citrus. It makes your brow furrow and your brain kick into overdrive, that is until the heart begins rushing up at you and connecting to this opening very well. Tuberose, jasmine, muguet, orris, and tonka all find partners to hold hands with. Tuberose takes over the white florals from the orange blossom and amps it up to pleasantly powdery rose territories, while also providing a bit of a green edge as the basil and blackcurrant did. Jasmine and muguet come in for the assist with citrusy white floral links and sweet animalic muskiness. Orris keeps the heart stately by not letting it fall over the line of too sweet or too floral with its powdery dry starchiness, and the vanillic tonka shifts the character of the earthy anisic note of the basil. The final dry down and skin scent has enough oakmoss in it to make you say chypre for a little while, but then you correct yourself as time goes a bit further on and the tonka, balsams, benzoin, a bit of incense, and animalics present a very convincing amber union. It is on the pleasant side of sweet, and has more than enough richness but with plenty of air and space to be compelling without being thick or crowding. Boucheron has absolutely beautiful dry downs, and the brand mandated that their perfumes did so, as evidenced here and later on in the arguably more masterful Pour Homme. At one point I said, “some of it is predictable though.” A floral amber in 1988 was hardly anything new; despite Boucheron’s forward thinking in some areas for the time, and their meticulous attention to details and composition, they gave us what was arguably an outdated and commonplace perfume even for that period. I’ve said it once and I’ll say until my dying breath: it’s the details that make all the difference. Rarely does anything truly new come along in perfumery, it’s the details that set perfumes apart from each other. For example, Boucheron love powdery aldehydes but despite their volume at no point are they ever allowed to hide anything from the nose as so frequently happens with other brands’ compositions. Every note has a partner note in the same layer or one below that they are completely inseparable from, even though they maintain their distinction. It’s beautiful work that is far too underrated.

Absolutely fabulous! 💯 The addiction is real on this one! It should be classed as an addictive substance! Or given out on prescription as a mood elevating anti depressant. I know it makes me instantly happy! I bet this is what GOD smells like! Oh my goodness this is amazing. Total soap addict here 👋 so thourilly soap me and soap me again please! This satisfies my soap fragrance addiction like no other! I'm living for the soap bomb vibe of this beast. It's become one of my top 5 perfumes of all time. It's expensive french luxury and sophistication in a bottle. Its a struggle not to reach for it every single day! As soon as the fragrance opens for me its soapy and clean and vanilla and almondy in a hypnotic poison type way, and it has a wonderful big floral with gardenia type smell but it doesn't have gardenia in it so it must be the tuberose. I'm so drawn like an addict to big personality heavy soapy beast perfumes or powdery beasts the stronger the better. No fragrance could ever wear me so l indulge in the stronger perfumes more. People have said this is very 80's soap bomb, l guess that could be true, but l was 5yrs old in 1980 and dont remember smelling fragrances like this. I'm sure if l did the smell would have imprinted on my mind and nose. l was surrounded by the scents of Dior, Chanel, Estee-Lauder and Yves-Saint-Laurent in those days from my mum & aunt, and their friends.. l bought a bottle for my mum a couple of weeks back and she's never smelled anything like it, it didn't remind her of any scent she had come across in her 68 years and trust me when l say that between me and my mum, all the best selling perfumes worth having in history we've had them all TWICE! She loved this too. I was getting so bored with my perfume collection l just felt uninspired when trying to choose one to wear so didn't wear any for about a year. I found this on Ebay so cheap l thought if it's awful l can just give it away. The name Boucheron sounded so French and posh, l saw the RRP price point, & l thought it must be okay. It immediately made me smile with a giddy type glee, and l couldn't stop smelling myself going "Mmmmmm" each time l inhaled the scent, it literally makes me weak at the knees, its pure pleasure and fragrance magic for me. That fancy expensive French soap smell with the vanilla scent and the sandlewood amber floral composition is amazing. I couldn't love this more. This scent belongs on a very sophisticated chic beautiful woman who dresses impeccably in seriously expensive Couture and makes other women stare because they want to be like her. Boucheron Pour Femme you are gorgeous. l cant imagine ever getting sick of this fragrance! ♥️ I give this sexy little beaut a 10/10.

My first experience with Boucheron occurred on a joyful testing spree at Nordstrom about six years ago. I remember thinking, now This IS perfume... but do I LIKE it? The scent polarized me! On the one hand it genuinely smelled expensive and elegant in the classic feminine manner I adore. On the other there was a decidedly Bitter edge I couldn't overlook, which seemed to dominate the composition. It puzzled me, the beginning perfume explorer, even while simultaneously beguiling as well. (Word to the wise - the same thing happened to me with Knowing, Youth Dew, Chanel No 5, and countless other classics shortly after. To my mind, if you're simultaneously enamored and repulsed it means you're eventually going to fall heavily!) Fast forward a year or so, and my second testing of Boucheron created a better understanding of the scent. Ah, that touch of bitterness (not so bothersome now!) is there to offset and balance the sweetness and lush florals, which could otherwise become cloying. Not bad, not bad at all. And I began to seek a bottle... Every time I've bumped into the fragrance of Boucheron since then, it's been Love. Tagetes and Marigolds may be an acquired taste, but - hey, presto - I'd acquired it! And this year, Oh Happy Day, I finally have a full bottle to enjoy any and every time the mood hits. Lush femininity and dignity combine to create a queenly floral perfume with depth and personality. What more can I ask? Allure, that's what, which any perfume containing musk, amber, civet, and orange blossom cannot help but deliver! <3 In short, a true winner. <3 If you enjoy traditional, FEMME florals and florientals like Bijan, Organza, or Classique, you can count on an experience worth repeating when spraying on this perfume-that-IS-perfume. The orange blossom, civet, and musk beauty of Boucheron will envelop, seduce, and cheer you and yours throughout the day. So... sometimes with challenging scents it's worth a second try. Or more! One of the best things I've learned in my perfume journey is to take time to acquaint myself with fragrances I don't understand. It more than repays the effort, or so it seems to happen... again and again and again. I'm so VERY glad I persevered and got to know Beautiful Boucheron better. Five Stars!

This may be the scent that gets me to enjoy tuberose in a perfume. I am a sucker for nostalgic perfumes, and for fellow vintage lovers, Boucheron EDP is an absolute must for your collection. Be warned though, this lady is not an open book, you must get to know her slowly. My reaction went from “maybe I’ll give it to mom” to “holy cow I’m wearing this forever” over the course of a couple of days. At first, all I got was heavy orange blossom, and I thought it was too close to perfumes I already had. 24 Faubourg, Reem Acra, and Roberto Cavalli edp immediately jumped to mind as orange blossom ladies I’ve already either loved and kept or liked and passed on. But I am seeing the different sides of this perfume now and the sweet warm softness is something I am becoming addicted to by the hour. Roberto Cavalli is fruity and clean. Reem Acra has that pear, but was a bit stifling (bye girl), and 24 Faubourg is gloriously aloof. Boucheron opens with a fuzzy warm clean feel, like a blanket out of the dryer, then a lovely powderiness follows. There’s a discordant saltiness that comes in soon after that reminds me of the opening of SL Ambre Sultan (a firm favorite). I enjoy this actually, it’s a texture I wasn’t expecting in this otherwise sweet and warm composition and it’s all the more original for it. It softens further into its really addictive stage- fluffy warm amber goodness brightened by a pink bubblegum tuberose. These facets play hide and seek- sometimes I’m enveloped in a warm sweet haze, then a salty, animalic punch, or pop of gummy tuberose will rouse me out of my doze. I absolutely love it. I would wear this with a lighter or heavier hand in all seasons and weather. The verdict: It certainly could be written off as an 80s powerhouse on the surface, but dig a little deeper and discover that it’s far more nuanced and interesting. So glad I didn’t dismiss Boucheron before really giving her a chance. Those who do don’t know what they’re missing.

I have the EDT and the EDP. One great thing is that they’re even better after macerating for a couple of years. I went through several bottles (of other perfumes) during that time and then came back to Boucheron. I initially liked the EDT better, but now I like the EDP better. However gorgeous, neither was quite clean enough for everyday daytime use upon first unboxing. Now it doesn’t matter. The narcissus sings on my skin after an hour or so. The animalic snarl of the EDP has calmed down to a sexy poof, and it’s just right. It’s almost a clean sexy and almost a dirty sexy. The animalic notes fall in just the right place after a long period of maceration, whereas two years ago it was just filthy gorgeous. And asafoetida is always a force to be reckoned with, but here it’s very well-balanced. The EDT has remained about the same. It has a wider appeal with a cleaner musk that reminds me of Le Troisième Homme by Caron, but cleaner. It also brings to mind Lalique. One or two sprays is plenty with either, and these days nobody will know what I’m wearing. I would rather wear a tickle sweet chic musk like these than a sweet sugar confection. The citruses are beautiful. It’s very high quality. At this rate, these two bottles will last me ten years. Many have likened it to 24 Faubourg, and I find similarities between the two, but Boucheron never veers into dirty laundry territory like 24 Faubourg. I still hold the opinion that this EDP is the original from which Bond No. 9 Manhattan was derived, and I still think that Boucheron EDP is better.

I had thought I purchased this in EDP, but to my initial disappointment I purchased the EDT. It is still as beautiful as the EDP, but as to be expected, it is lighter and a bit fresher. Actually, I think it's restraint makes it more modern and wearable in a variety of scenarios. It's still a lush floral, with a nice, creamy tuberose and ylang. These are first impressions and I need to give it a proper testing in order to appreciate more of the notes as it progresses through dry down, especially since I am only experiencing the floral aspects, not the balsamic, oriental qualities, and can not speak to sillage and longevity. Still, on the basis of what I have experienced so far, Boucheron is a great addition to any perfumista's collection, one I can see myself reaching for often. ============ I am wearing this today and I am head over heels in love with it. Imagine - an EDT that performs better than what is sold as EDP today! I adore the florals - the tuberose and ylang are harmonious together! And the beautiful, woody sandalwood in the dry down is quite lovely as well. Yes, I know that many younger people will be taken aback by the boldness of this fragrance, but if you want to get a taste of what 80s perfumery was like without being knocked senseless by vintage Poison or the like, than I think Boucheron EDT is a beautiful place to start. This is a scent I bought for my wife at her request and she never wears it. I asked her why and she said she was saving it for special occasions. For her this scent harkens back to the days where she worked at the huge mall pharmacy at Galleries D'Anjou. Boucheron was a luxury staple to her. When I got back into buying scents I urged her to pick stuff to round out orders and this was one of those buys and relatively inexpensive. Shamelfully AI suggested I wear this because I've been runnung my reviews and wardrobe through it for info...but that's another thread. I shot this on this morning and immediately understood where my wife's obsession with clean scents comes from. This is a classic scent and could very easily be unisex today. It is anchored in classic Women's scents (Burberry being one of my guilty pleasures) A clean Soapy Bounce Drier sheet. As predicted by AI the drydown is veering toward civet vanila oakmoss that I would apparently love.... From the gaggle of topnotes you would believe it to be very fruity and floral but it never goes there. It gets nicely spicy on the dry down . A pleasant old school cosmetic soft classic. This will not change your life or drive most people crazy but I did encourage my wife to wear it and enjoy it. For one thing she was in love with me all the way to work. I hope she wears it more in her daily cycle. Pink Shimmer secret and Givenchy Insense Ultramarine are the daily drivers right now.

Golden pollen and flower nectar. The marigold and citruses combine to give this an almost effervescent quality in the opening. Creamy, indolic tuberose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, with orange flower and abstract, soft fruits. The marigold note gives this a quiet herbal quality that makes it stand out from the others in this genre. Boucheron has the typical honeyed amber-vanilla-sandalwoody base that a lot of these massive floral bouquets from the 80s have. I think it's a lot smoother and better blended than most 80s floral bouquets, a rather luxurious, expensive smelling perfume. For a long time I was hesitant to leave the house wearing perfumes like this. Maybe it's because they smell dated, or maybe they seem a bit campy in their femininity. Whatever was holding me back before is no longer an issue. I've finally come around on (some) of them. There's something about the base that intuitively feels so very familiar to me, but I'm unsure why. Did I know someone who wore this? I usually recognize people by their scent and the sound of their footsteps, but I'm drawing a blank here. Not mom, not grandma, none of my aunts. Possibly an old church lady or school teacher. I wore it for the first time in a few months today, and my mother said it smelled great. I'll never tell her, but I'll tell you; mom's olfactory approval means a lot. It's a keeper. I've used up the whole sample (basically unheard of for me) and I'm buying the big bottle.

Very big yellow-orange floral, warm and animalic. Wonderful value at today's online discount pricing. Yes! to the Coco and Samsara comparisons, and unisex, like Coco nowadays. (And certain Shalimars, the Cologne for example, though Boucheron isn't much like Shalimar.) For a few hours Boucheron pumps out interest on a few levels so it rewards close attention. In projection and to other people, I suppose it might smell, as SalinasL said below, "time-stamped". Such a great way to avoid the pejorative of "dated". The gorgeous and complex blend only lasts 2 to 3 hours, then the base is pleasant and really lasts. But it's all about the early full perfume blast, isn't it? Let's think about it. Frankly, many young men today are wearing rich heady brews comparable to the 80s powerhouses but with contemporary chemicals that zhuzh up the flowers, spices and resins. I wonder what would happen if Boucheron EDP or Coco EDP were delivered in jazzy Lattafa bottles. The ylang and civet might be the most surprising notes to young noses. Oud stank, when you even get it, is in a different ballpark. Boucheron is certainly not a "freshie" but it is "refreshing" to the mind to consider a voluptuous fragrance concocted in a very old fashioned way. Remember, the 80s are deep prehistory to Gen Z. Bonus aside: Jean-Pierre Bethouart's Versace Blue Jeans was also an enduring tour de force, until recent years.

WOAH. PERFECTION. First time I tried this perfume it was 6 years ago, in a duty free in a flight between Paris and San Francisco. I got catched by the unique design of the bottle, and because I wanted to try all vintage perfumes. I instantly felt in love by the unique and elegant blend. This is so luxurious and refine. It is a chypre oriental for me. Not too sweet, not too green. I didn't buy the bottle at that time but I always remembered how good it smells. I was 25. Then, 6 years later, I was looking for a scent to celebrate the new year in Miami. I was looking for a fragrance that will make me remember this moment all my life. I wanted something I can wear during the night on the dancefloor. Something sexy, animalic, elegant, glamorous, luxurious, and strong. I find a little perfumes corner in a small CVS and saw the bottle. I purchased in blind Boucheron just by my memories of how good it smells. I tried in my hotel room..... PERFECTION. This is my night perfume. It made me remember of "Nuits Indiennes" by Jean Louis Scherrer. It does not smell outdated or too powdery. The flowery scent is very complex and balance by a very elegant animalic and soft woody scent. It is better than Parfum de Peau by Montana. Can't believe I hadn't reviewed this before as its one of my all time favorite fragances. Boucheron is the scent of my wonderful memories of sunny days at my grandmother's house, and I grew up associating this scent with her forever, as it has been her signature perfume for decades, and I am lucky to continue the tradition as it is so close and comforting to my heart. Boucheron is a floral, citrus and amber bomb, whose notes are so beautifully blended together that they're very difficult to detect singularly, but rather illustrate a whole scent of its own, and the journey it takes you between each layer of top, middle and base notes is very noticeable. Indeed the main thing you smell is potent florals and citrus, very warm and elegant and certainly not sporty or green. By the middle the fragance settles down into a more powdery, slightly sweeter and softer facet, especially beautiful through its sillage, and by the time we reach base notes we are left with beautiful powdery notes and bitter musk. This fragance can be very polarizing between love or hate, but I have always found it intriguing, recognizable, unique, elegant and warm, both for taste and sentimental value. I'd love to and aspire to always have even a drop of this beauty in my collection.

Oh, wow, such a comely floriental! The opening was a smidge on the super-sweet side--one wouldn't wish it any sweeter, that's for sure--but once it settles, after a few minutes, the tuberose pipes down just enough for the other, spicier notes to be perceptible. This smells like an absolute welter of florals, a big, fat bouquet along the lines of EL's Beautiful, but with more amber and vanilla, giving it more of a classic oriental drydown. I love the narcissus, which is faint but perceptible--it's a greenish, slightly tangy and vegetal sweetness that, along with the tagetes and marigolds, helps keep the tuberose and other sugary florals from dominating too much. That said, if you don't like tuberose, you'd best steer clear of this strident madame! Update: Wearing it again today, a couple of months since I posted this review, I want to sign on to everything that Lovaloo says above, except the part about her mom's approval (my mom hasn't smelled this yet) and its familiarity. To me this perfume does feel slightly familiar but I think it's only because it reminds me of other perfumes that I like (perfumes may have been influenced by it).

Okay, there's a lot going on here in the EDP, but here's what I get: opens with burst of vintage floral with animalic & crunchy-floral facets that transitions to a white-floral heart of orange-blossom & tuberose with powdery, creamy, animalic, iris and almost-maple sweetness, resting on a vanilla-benzoin base with oakmoss & animalic touches. The tuberose here isn't bubblegum-y. Overall, I get a VINTAGE WHITE-FLORAL that's multi-faceted, rich, powdery, creamy with almost maple sweetness. I can notice the civet here - more so in the opening, but it's well blended and doesn't detract imo (not as prominent as some, for example Paloma Picasso). I can't really get all of the fruity notes or the ylang yet, perhaps in time. Some reminders for me of Red Door Elizabeth Arden mostly, but also Lumiere Intense Rochas & White Diamonds Elizabeth Taylor (these are the closest three that I've had my nose on). I think this will be a love for me, and probably continue long after other trends have passed.Enjoy! Edit: Okay I get the orange now, but what I'm getting is more like the smell of an orange peel or your fingers after peeling an orange...

Boucheron de Boucheron is a sweet honeyed and well-compensated fantasy, a woman faithful to her incorruptible scent, a loyal passion without end... Its flowers sweetened with amber and vanilla, its light touches of civet that provides unmatched character and hold, the light and not heavy oily touch of ylang make it, I could say, one of the most beautiful creations I have ever known. Elegant and polite but typical fragrance so that those around you dream of sleeping between your sheets. It is the liquid jewel, it is an elixir that lasts over time forever and ever. And that it has a touch of vintage, okay, you can't deny the countless ingredients that it alchemizes, but if this beauty doesn't make anyone beautiful, I can't believe it! The vintage edp has more flowers and projects a lot, very sweet flowers, this is Glamor in excess. La Boucheron is like that, but this one is different from the others because it never gets messy or sweats, immaculate for hours it will offer you so much pleasure that you will only want to repeat and repeat to be eternally impregnated with it. Does anyone else smell sweet raspberries on the dry down? I do, and I love it. I love that this fragrance keeps morphing as I'm wearing it. It's so complex. Someone here described it as seamless. It certainly is. It’s so well blended that the transitions are barely noticeable but transition it certainly does. Some say they think it starts out a little sharp. I found that to be true of the edp, until it settles down. The edt is a smooth ride all the way. Longevity is excellent as is silage. I put on a few sprays, and it last the whole day. I have all formulations; the edt, the edp, and the parfum, and I actually prefer the edt of this scent. I find it fresher and brighter compared to the other strengths and there is just something about it that sets it apart for me - maybe it's that raspberry note - yum! The other strengths are denser and heavier, and so rich it almost brings a syrupy texture to mind. I still love them but find the edt more versatile though they are all beautiful. This is one scent I’ll always have in my collection. I think it is a masterpiece and breathtakingly beautiful.

I sprayed this beautiful perfume on my slender, bangled wrists after a long hiatus and rediscovered how lovely it is -- truly the Sherman tank of grand floral perfumes. Well I recall browsing the halls of Printemps Haussmann with my dear maman decades ago and thinking, this is the height of elegance and sophistication. Maybe one day I will own it. I reserve this scent for romantic dinners out with Monsieur P, typically when we visit Maxim's. However, I had grown tired of its heaviness after a while and could only smell what seemed like alcohol. So I tucked it away in my satin-lined beauty vanity drawer to let it rest for a few years. Mon Dieu, am I glad I retrieved this treasure! This truly smells like it has the kitchen sink of florals, as mentioned in the notes above. My nez has been refined, indeed! I was tickled to see that Jean-Pierre Bethouart had co-created this as I love his Vivage Jour, by Louis Feraud. Boucheron de Boucheron is a keeper, to be worn and savored under the sepia gaslights of La Parisian Belle Epoque.

I am completely obsessed with this perfume. It's so good!! I feel like it resembles Arpege from Lanvin, but it has more sweetness in the middle and at the base. It's like Indian Nights by Jean Louis Scherrer and Arpège by Lanvin had a baby : Boucheron eau de Parfum. I'm reviewing the Eau de Parfum with the frozen glass and the blue cap (100ml). It's such a beauty, I panicked bought a second one, now that the prices are still good. Absolute gem and possibly my fave perfume of the moment. I try not to use it up fast because it's so good. Powdery, but warm. Floral, but a I get something gourmand in there. The Vanilla is so round and so non-synthetic, it smells edible. I love the animalic note ( assuming it's artificial ), it really brings it home with the depth and mystery. And the Amber and the Musk make it so sofisticated. A wonderful scent that really takes you on a ride with the different notes that pop up. Delicious!! And good projection! ( not DG pour femme red cap projection, but still a very good punch with longevity )

This was my first ever blind purchase at TJ Maxx. It’s a refill bottle, and I think it was like $30, which I knew was a great deal. At first I thought I’d made a huge mistake. Going on it reminded me of Chanel °5, which I associate with rich old ladies. I got the narcissus right away, and just this blast of yellow florals and civet. I washed it off and then it sat in my cupboard for a long time. When I got curious about it and tried again, I had a totally different experience! I used a light touch and waited out the initial notes, and was amazed when it quickly mellowed into a nice, soft, spicy floral. And then I noticed the citrus, and the woody notes—this is a perfume that really has many layers and a lot of complexity. Many hours in, on me, at least, it settles into the most beautiful, comforting sandlewood and amber. It gets to this point just as I’m going to bed, usually, and it always makes me feel like I’ve been on an adventure with this fragrance over the course of the day. I’m so glad I gave it another try!

This is an absolutely breath-taking bombastic floral. So loud, yet so elegant. And most definitely smells like the 80s. I have no idea why this isn't a more well-known or talked about scent. The price is great. If it cost 3 times as much as it does, I would still buy it - but I'm glad it doesn't! Honestly, the more of these vintage gems I smell, the more the whole world of modern niche perfumery just feels like a giant scam, with companies charging hundreds for 3-note fragrances that can't hold a candle to the likes of Boucheron. I know this has been reformulated, but I think they actually did a very good job with the reformulation. A lot of reformulations of vintage fragrances are abominations, but credit where credit is due - this is one of the better reformulations on the market today. Is the vintage deeper and more complex? Yes, but only slightly. Personally I wouldn't go out of my way to hunt down an expensive vintage bottle when the reformulation smells as good as it does and lasts as long as it does.

I have found another beautiful "old" heavy perfume to love. Ever since finding LouLou Cacharel, I have been wanting to explore some other tuberose heavy scents, and also been searching for perfumes with excellent longevity, and Boucheron fits those parameters perfectly. It is gorgeous from the beginning with the sweet fruits and ylang coming out far less cloying sweet than in more modern scents, thank goodness. This is a more sophisticated and old school fruitiness, which is then followed by the powdery orris and incredible blend of white florals, esp. tuberose. Oakmoss, tonka and some spiciness are there and everything is so perfectly blended that what I finally end up with is the most exquisite bouquet of white flowers wrapped in powder and soft sweetness, much different from the fruity overly sweet things that are so popular right now. This is an old school beauty that is not dated and anyone who loves heavy floral orientals should at least try this amazing creation. I will definitely be buying this!!

This is one of my all time favorite 80s powerhouse perfumes. On my skin its opening is musty-sweet with tagete and orange vying for the spotlight. You need to be an appreciator of an old school slightly dusty musty vibe to love this phase, but I definitely fall into that camp. The slight sharpness of the opening fades into heady white/yellow floral heart dominated by tuberose and ylang ylang, but the supporting players each lend their signature to this complex bouquet. Already the vibe is slightly sleepy, wrapped in velvety amber that seems to drip from the petals. Ultimately, the flowers melt into sleepy benzoin-civet-sandalwood base that manages to feel gooey but not overly sweet. Along the way I get flashes of cassis, asafoetida, apricot, geranium, narcissus, oakmoss, tonka, and musk, roughly in that order. This parade of notes almost feels like counting sheep before bed, and indeed part of the charm of this perfume is riding it from its opulent, extroverted opening to private comfort.

I received my bottle of Boucheron Eau de Parfum a few days ago, and since then, I’ve been deeply moved. It’s hard to put the beauty of this fragrance into words... I can only say one thing: it brings me immense pleasure. It’s the pinnacle of elegance, comfortable, refined, and assured. This fragrance is far from linear; it unfolds like an olfactory journey that goes on and on for hours. One never grows bored with Boucheron - it’s a voyage. Simply magnificent. It’s the first perfume in my entire life that I wear to bed. Boucheron has entered my life, and it’s here to stay. Be aware, though, it has a very vintage character - and I adore vintage perfumes. But if you’re not used to that kind of olfactory family, it might feel overwhelming. For the curious ones, I say go for it - this fragrance is a masterpiece.

Ohh I think Iv found a new OG to my collection I have the edt I was honestly terrified of it as the date 1988 and the bottle I can’t say I’m a huge fan of 80s perfumes I have a love/hate relationship with the original coco Chanel I kept thinking Estée Lauder looking at the bottle which has the ability to put me in a violent migraine coma but tbh this is like something vintage it’s very guerlain with the citrus notes and vanilla it’s actually not as strong as I was expecting I have no5 edt and edp and I hate the edt so I was scared but this is gorgeous I was trying to see what it reminds me of and off the bat I get shalimar and actually hints of coty L’aimant the softness and floral notes less powdery and alot more wearable it can definitely be worn year round I can’t say it lasts on me so I will probably be purchasing the edp next time I like to make a statement. It’s not headache inducing like a lot of 80s fragrances thank the lord

Eau de toilette: My first impression was, “WOW, that smells good!” I haven’t smelled anything this ravishing and desirable since vintage Bijan. Just the right kind of animalic musks with vanilla in the background. Similar to but not quite as heavy as the musk in Lalique Pour Homme. It doesn’t smell dirty, but it does smell passionately good, with a majestic presence reminiscent of Guerlinade. It could be a Guerlain classic. Whereas some Guerlain classics have veered into vetiver-shoots-wrapped-in-Band-Aids territory in the past 18 years or so, Boucheron hovers delectably in “Surrender and hold me” territory. It stays clean, which is nice because when it comes to perfumes these days, it’s usually either zero sensuality or “I don’t wash.” This is musk and amber-vanilla-benzoin perfected. Balanced musk: not chalky, not squishy, not stanky, not unwashed, not caked up. Just amber tiger powder mmmph. Irresistible.

Whew! This scent reminds me strongly of aftershave, I think it must be the basil top note, reminds me of Brut Faberge and Pino Silvestre a little. I don't get the floral or citrus notes other people mention, but I do get the orris root, the oakmoss, the aldehydes, the delicious amber and resin, and the woody notes. And I'm okay with that! Even though it's a surprise, I very much like what Boucheron is doing on my skin. There's something else there as well, something alive and spicy, I think it must be the civet. It leans strongly unisex on me, even a little masculine (possibly because of those aftershave connotations). I absolutely love it. It's soapy, spicy, rich - powerful but not overwhelming. My only complaint is longevity, which does not seem to be a typical issue, but I'm using a miniature "splash" so that might have something to do with it. This review is for the vintage formula.

I must admit this type of scent is not my cup of tea. But.. sometimes you need to try something that you havent tried before. So i blinded buy this boucheron on fragranceX after long reading and review many reviews. It is very classic. Need couple time of use until i can really "appreciate" this gem. It is so 80s-90s... a bit strong and heavy at the beginning, people will quickly notice the smell when you spritz... then slowly bloom its charms, you can smell jasmine, tuberose, ylang-ylang.. so powdery, aldehyde and soft... it reminds menof chanel no 5. Sure they dont share the same exact notes, but the powdery and aldehyde theyre kind to be similiar. This type of scent represent and old fashioned women, a conservative personality, an elegant and classy. Surely this one not suitable for summer.. i would wear this for special occassion, night wear, a wedding or on a date for sure

This perfume is oh so 80s. I know I've smelled it before. On the older high school girls when I was in around 7th/8th grade. I can imagine them thinking they were so sophisticated wearing this. I think it was my best friend's older sister that I recognize it from. It's sort of like a very upgraded Exclamation minus the excessive sweetness. It has very much an animalistic note to it which makes it interesting and separates it from the cheaper 80s perfumes. I think perfumers were experimenting a lot with this note at the time, like how Liz Claiborne has a distinct animal/barnyard note. The note to this one, however, smells more human animal than animal animal. I thought it would be an interesting experiment to try it and if Selena Q. liked it, I figured I probably would. It's a little bottle of time warp. I'm glad I bought it.

So good. I have a 90s EdT and recently ordered an EdP from circa early 2000s, but I've yet to receive it. I can't wait to compare them. Classic intense white floral. The tuberose is lovely and rich, with the marigold providing an interesting raspiness that tempers the white floral sweetness a bit. There's a sharp note I keep catching that must be cedar underlying the florals. The other notes prevent the florals here from being overly unctuous. The raspy effect reminds me of Jardins de Bagatelle, but Jardins has such a pronounced rasp that it is almost like cigarette smoke and it's far sweeter. My bottle of Boucheron may have lost some strength, but to me it is perfectly judged. Haters of white florals may not want to wear this, but they might find it interesting how the heavy tuberose is cut by the marigold and wood here.

I just got this today , the first note I could smell when i sprayed it was definitely the tagetes ,it's really strong and then comes this sweet sugar like note mixed with tuberose , I can't really smell any of the fruit notes but the yellow flower notes are pretty sharp, this kind of has a samsara vibe but like if samsara is algerian forests and campfire in mid winter boucheron is Italian seaside and jasmine feilds in early summer , I can't explain it any better but that's the vibe I definitely love this one , I think it's going to be one of my favourites for a very long time , it's beautiful. (The bottle is perfect too!) I definitely recommend. Ps: if you don't like civet and oakmoss don't get this because ike most late 80 /90 perfumes they're very noticeable here .

When I did the first test spray of the EdP inside the box I thought...ugh, this is awful. For two days, every time I walked by my perfumes I smelled the paper and thought, Boucheron was a horrible-horrible-horrible old lady hairspray smell. I was wrong. Boucheron needs skin to dry down properly. This morning, I did a test spray on my inner elbow to give it one final try before tossing it in the rubbish bin. Thank heavens I did that. Boucheron is fabulous, complex, and womanly. It's not an easygoing fruitchouli that smells like every other perfume of the last few years. How deep is this perfume? Cedar is a MIDDLE note. At cedar you are only halfway down. Muse on that a bit. Boucheron is a fragrance for women who aren't apologizing for who they are. Love, love, love.

My first review of Boucheron still stands. Now this is REAL perfume!!! For Vintage lovers only. I might also add that it is excellent value. Sophisticated treasure. Perfection to my nose, and most expensive (read, quality) smelling, without the high price tag. Complex and definitely 'old money' of the real variety. The only possible issue? It is a tad bitter (tagetes, asafoetida?) to balance the lush florals and animalic notes. For those who enjoy quite nuanced and mature fragrance, this is likely not an issue at all. But blind buy enthusiasts should at least be warned. So... you have been. ;) If you already enjoy fragrances to which is it compared, however, it is a very logical and highly recommended blind buy. Five stars. Stunning Vintage Beauty. <3

I can't name one particular note that whacks me over the head. This is distinctly a 1980s perfume, but that doesn't demote it. It's a simple fact. The marigold is a proud note in the opening, and what makes it 80s is absolutely the tuberose, oakmoss, civet, and amber. It's nice to see a perfume still using asafoetida. It's this subtle background player that added something to Tendre Poison and it adds something here, too. This feels strongly springtime but also autumn. This is walking around a festival, walking around a bookshop, or a picnic, or mindful sprays (stronnnng) before going to Thanksgiving with the family. For those who appreciate florals, or animalic, or amber, this is worth trying, but not blind buying - nothing is worth blind buying.

Okay, I have the oil version of this that I found from a fragrance oil place, and I fell in love instantly! I wasn't around yet for the 80's and only a toddler in the 90s, but this gives me hippie woman, witchy woman vibes. It smells like incense burning and patchouli oil. I got into the occult in the early 2010s and this just reminds me of my first encounters with apothecaries and how it smelled in them. Also how when I would open my window, the pink flowery leaves from a bush right outside my window snaking its way onto my altar in spring. This I love how it smells and makes me feel so witchy and earthy! I love the longevity and silage. I wish I could find a place that is still selling the oil because I would stock up on this bohemian scent!

This Frag is a must have! Do not buy another Frag before you try this out! Like the Homme EDP, the Femme version is understated class that can't be ignored. I don't know how they get the floral to project without being overwhelmeing and musk to smell clean! I have the OF (Original Formula) pictured, the OF gem version, the OF 2.5 refill spray, and the most recent 3.4 EDP. There are few Frags where the current version is as good as the OF but, the current EDP is better! The OF floral are muted while being more musky, lacking the longevity and silage of the current version. Get out there and prove me wrong or find your next favorite Frag! 3.4oz/100ml EDP can be had on EBay ranging between $35-$45 shipped. Happy Smells to You!

I love MANY perfumes, but one of my tried & true for over 20 years has been White Diamonds. It's just amazing on me, I wear it lightly. That is what this smells like on me. LOVE IT! I'm not even sure right now which one I'd pick if I had to pick just one! I paired it with Philosophy's Amazing Grace lotion today & for some reason they are just GREAT together. Not overpowering, just gorgeous! I may go ahead & get a back up from the same seller, since I know it should be the same batch, etc. EDT. I have not smelled the EDP. I would like to, but at this point, I am reading they are very different, & I dont want different. Maybe I'll see if Dillards has it & smell it there. Get this! It's also perfect to combo/play around with!

This is a really big floral and maybe I'm stuck in the 80's but I still love these ones. I have the EDP. The notes seem like they threw in everything but the kitchen sink. It may be easier to point out what is not in it. It opens as a huge bouquet with aldehydes and in a couple of hours it's clean, soapy and powdery. It ends with warm amber, vanilla and sandalwood. It's boss-lady and feminine at the same time. It's not intimate nor subtle, this one will get you noticed. It has a vintage feel and may not appeal to everyone. Some say it's for a mature woman. I say younger can pull it off if they're an old soul. If you like the OGs like older Guerlains, Chanels and YSLs, you're ready to try Boucheron.

Well this is just a masterpiece. I happened upon the dark blue box tucked away in the men’s section at TJ Maxx, and not knowing what I was getting into—I purchased it. When I got home, I discovered to my delight that it is a woman’s fragrance, a very grown, very self assured woman at that. Am I refined enough to wear this with confidence? I’m honestly not sure. This floral oriental is incredibly powerful, even in EDT form, and should probably be applied with a light hand, while wearing your grandest pantsuit. It’s not light, it’s not fun, it’s not flirty. It’s beautiful and complex and seems like it’s full of mystery. I love this and can’t wait for the day when I grow into this scent.

cloth: starts off ambery and then goes sharply citrus, the intended note pyramid turned upside down. skin: oh it smells wonderful! It smells like the 80s lol. I never had a bottle of this before but I think I probably smelled it on other college women at the time. It smells a lot like some of my other 80s favorites but less spicy. I LOVE this. The skin version is nothing like the cloth version. In the skin version I can't pick out individual notes but I know they are there. It's super complex but comes across as a unified chord. For those who, like me, were not sure how to open the bottle: if you have the splash bottle that is about 2 and 1/2" high, it twists off.

I got the edt and this baby is strong and last long! Smells identical to the original oscar de la renta perfume. Some similar notes as well. I will say this, young girls may not like this. I had oscar fragrance when I was in my early mid 20s and I hated it. I thought it was too floral and heavy. Now that I am 31 I love the strong heavy floral fragrances and they last longer than those fruity vanilla jelly bean scents I was attracted to when I was younger. White florals and Orientals are the way to go if you want long lasting. Being a mature young grown woman now, I now love and appreciate these fragrances my mom and grandma wore! They are BEAUTIFUL!

Extremely luxurious, soft and elegant. Pure luxury in a bottle. Every time I use it I receive a shower of compliments. The indescribable aroma of this juice precedes you wherever you go and everyone immediately asks you what perfume you have. Is incredible. Once, a small child in the family gave me two hugs, instead of one, and he asked me if he could give me another because he liked my smell very much. We all laughed at the incident, but I could clearly understand how important is the perfume you use for human relationships. Boucheron is a jewel. And it is an indulgence that I give to myself every time I need encouragement and confidence.

This perfume radiates warm, rich, golden vibes, for summer nights and fall all day when your body is still carrying its summer heat memory, and into winter if you run warm. It's for people who long for aldehydes and musk but can't wear it bc body chemistry is against them. It's for people who view the new stuff askance and sigh. It's a grown woman's smell- one who isn't trying to be a 20-something forever, bc she knows that in your 30s when you found out who you are and what you want, have a little more money in the bank, and your furniture matches and your lovers aren't found in bars and malls, why would somebody want to?

I am in my 30s, but I have a grandma-vibe sometimes, people tell me that. It must be about how I stick to certain values, habits and good advice that was given to me and I try to keep (like wearing thick socks in winter, and drinking linden tea with lemon and honey during flu season). This fragrance eludes a kind of self-confidence or self-awareness, that feels very honest and at the same time she is not-giving-a-f*ck. I understand how it might feel out-dated to some, but this is a matter of opinion and experience, so give it a try for yourself. I have the EDP, still wanting to try the EDT.

Beautiful elegant fragrance. It definitely has a vintage youth dew resemblance on the skin. Something I haven’t detected in the new YD buys. I am not sorry about that, though. This is very elegant but that skin scent stink means I’ll have experiment with it a bit. Clothes only? Layering? I’ll have to test it out. (Edit. Sunny fall day and it’s glorious in my hair) I most certainly don’t regret it one bit. Rare, beautiful find. Very very affordable on discount sites.

Bought this bc of Selena and just got it today! It’s gorgeous honestly. A nice and bright uplifting white floral scent. Very strong jasmine and tuberose to my nose with a good helping of Amber and a good bit of vanilla! A little powdery but not toooo much on me. It reminds me of a more feminine tres flores lmao. A very retro bold scent that definitely makes sense for its release period. A bold show stopping scent for a bold and show stopping woman. Selena Forever 💕

This is my everyday go to at the moment. It does smell vintage. I absolutely adore 24 Faubourg and this is similar but much more affordable. The EDT is fairly inoffensive and lasts all day on clothes. Floral, feminine leaning, classic. I do like the EDP a bit more but it is also stronger so the EDT gets more every day wear, especially because I live in a tropical climate. I’ll get whiffs of it and think “something smells pretty in here” and realize it’s me. Nice!

This is very delicately blended. There's nothing brash here. It oozes class. I love the syrupy texture. I get more orange than orange blossom with white and yellow florals nesting on a very smooth and soothing base. Very slightly aromatic. Very slightly bitter. Very slightly indolic. Nothing is too much for me. It reminds me of Amarige, which is not included in the 'reminds me of' list, among other things. Definitely one to try if you like old school florals.

One of the smoothest fragrances I've come across so far. Plus, it's got it all – perfectly blended flowers, kinda creamy, a touch of civet, nothing too much, everything dances in perfect harmony. Amber and benzoin/vanilla contribute to it's depth. Plus, the bottle is gorgeous. I can't find one flaw here. Like wearing a quality velvet or satin dress, that is not too tight, but more comfy, or a soft (and super clean) cashmere sweater.

All I’m here to say is that this is the perfume my mom wears every day and has since I was little, so I can’t put it on without tearing up, so much nostalgia and love in this scent. I always get complimented when I wear it (although as a 23yo people tend to point out the smell is a bit mature for me, which I appreciate, haha). One of the most amazing scents I’ve ever experienced, but I’m biased, because my mom is amazing. :)
