Néroli d'Ispahan

Néroli d'Ispahan pays homage to Isfahan, the city of Iran that was part of the Elamite and Parthian empires in the pre-Islamic period. Inside the Boucheron La Collection represents the importance of the city that was a reference in the trade of fabrics, silk and tapestry. The stone hunters were always looking for its sunny landscapes and the treasures of the place. In Isfahan, the orange trees bloom and its colors remind the Peridot (also known as Chrysolite). The fragrance of Néroli d'Ispahan was created by Fabrice Pellegrin and composed by the union of green cardamom, ginger and elemi resin, at the top of the olfactory pyramid, making way for notes of neroli, labdanum and pink pepper, in the heart, towards a base with patchouli, white musk and Ambrox® molecule (synthetic substitute for ambergris and also known as Ambroxan). When applied, Néroli d'Ispahan presents the beautiful nuances of the neroli and still has some surprises along the journey. This is because it does not follow the pattern of fragrances that explore the neroli along with other citric notes, creating luminous and refreshing accords. Here, the neroli brings luminosity to a fragrance of oriental content, which carries nuances of amber and which surprises, even in milder temperatures. At the same time, it is present throughout all evolution and for this reason is undoubtedly the great star of the party. According to the company, the olfactory competitions would be Neroli Portofino (Tom Ford) and Poivre Samarcande (Hermès). On my skin, Néroli d'Ispahan had great performance, even with few sprays. The perfumer managed to imprison the freshness of an ingredient among others that are more sensual and denser. Sometimes, as it evolves, it looks like I've applied a layer of neroli on another fragrance in a layering process. There is a very nice overlap of notes. Beautiful work!

I am in love, so much, with this fragrance. I have never smelled a neroli like this before. It's warmed by the ginger, cardamom, and pepper but maintains a feeling of brightness throughout the wear. Now that I own (and love!) 3 perfumes from this line, I get the impression that Boucheron developed this collection as a true private collection for their primary customers. Not as a high-end / niche wannabe alternative to the existing perfume range. These perfumes are not heavy hitters, they're not loud, they're not overtly innovative, but each (of the 3 I own anyway) has something special, something elevated, or unexpected that sets it apart from others like it. Plus, the quality is undeniable and they are pleasant and appealing enough that I imagine people who actually buy Boucheron jewelry might consider one of the La Collection as an everyday scent.

I put this on and immediately I fell in love. After a little while I wasn't sure, as I thought it was very weak and I didn't smell much, anymore. Then, about 1/2 hour later I loved it, again. Now, after 6 hours I can still smell it and I still love it. So all in all I'm in love with my new perfume. It has a little sour note in it, some powder, even leaning towards Pure Poison from Dior but with a much longer / better projection to me. But I see no one else stating this, so maybe it's just me... I now have all of this collection, apart from the Vanille de Zanzibar... Looking at the prices I don't think I will ever own it. Well... can't have it all! I'm happy as it is. P.S.: After 9 hours the scent was gone.

I’m in a bind: I found another perfume and I really love it. I must have it, but my accountant is saying no. This is a beauty, one of the longest lasting, natural Neroli based perfumes I’ve ever worn. A fresh spicy ginger and cardamon intro is followed by an amber and patchouli drydown, all the while allowing Neroli to be the star. It’s hard to explain why this feels so special, but it is gorgeous. Neroli d’Ispahan is the best from Boucheron, in fact, of all the perfumes I’ve tested from this house it’s the only one I want to own. I guess I’m going to be eating top ramen for the next week.

I've tested it several times, but still find the price a little high. However it makes me mad, I want it so much. The scent is very different from all other perfumes I have or have tested. It's unique and beautiful, unisex, but I love it. I'm thinking of purchasing a full bottle. It's hard to find it in the drug stores where I live.

This was again weak to me, maybe it is my nose's problem, but the smell was very good. It was like neroli mixed with something powdery, very interesting and enjoyable.

Quality gear and undeniably interesting: a whole new twist on neroli here, taking it in a surprisingly dark-and-spicy direction towards the end. At first it's bright, un-sweet, green zingy citrus whose kinship to other neroli scents (Rocher, TF Neroli Portofino, and so on and on) is entirely obvious. But then within the hour - on me at least - the Mediterranean sunshine clouds over as banks of thick, dark, defiantly spicy notes roll in - I almost smell savoury black pepper, rather than the floral trio of ginger/pinkpepper/cardamom listed. Somehow this scent finds a deep, dark, certainly unisex bottom end to neroli which I'd never suspect existed - that occasionally metallic/bitter/deep-green edge it can have, amped to the absolute maximum. Miles away from the often soapy or green-grassy tinge which can afflict citrus scents; and totally unapologetic about being itself. Yet it's still so good. On my skin patchouli and cistus often go wayyyyy dark, and that happens again with this, almost to the point of repulsion - for Neroli d'Ispahan's contours creep all the way up to borderline black tyre-rubber note, squealing a little bit on a road surface. Sounds almost horrible... but it never is. Most unexpected, though - I'd expected this scent to smell overall clean, sweet and expensive; yet it's much rougher, more unisex, and far weirder than billed. While the neroli's definitely classy and authentic and beautifully done here, it might be a bit traumatic for those expecting a 'straight' or classic neroli scent. Definitely you must love spice, and possibly be specifically seeking it, for this to work. Longevity's firm-to-OK (its opening glory only lasts a couple of hours but the spicy aftermath will linger for 5-6 on skin) and sillage only medium (but that might be a blessing in disguise). Price is ... not that consumer-friendly for what it is. In my view ONLY (neroli fanatic, but also a cheapskate) - if you want a really punchy, lasting, nearly-bitter neroli with attitude, Yves Rocher may offer better bang per buck. But if you want specifically spiced neroli and have a free spending hand, this Boucheron is an impressive and individual take on it.

Good take on neroli. Most of us know neroli from the 4711 Original Cologne, whose popularity was boosted when Tom Ford re-released its scent as "Neroli Portofino" and its flankers. Then, the same neroli scent was copied so many times, it became disappointing to smell coming out of the bottles of new releases. In Néroli d'Ispahan, Boucheron tries something new and succeeds. They give you that same fresh, green, mildly aquatic scent without the "old school" sharpness that is associated with usually with neroli. You get that neroli, softened and spiced up very lightly with elemi, that adds depth to the scent. Soft, fresh, green, lightly-spicy, and mildly aquatic. My encounter with Néroli d'Ispahan was brief, during which I didn't appreciate any other overt notes. The rest of the notes exist to shape the 2 main aforementioned players. The neroli's old-fashioned sharpness is shaved off, and ambroxan very likely has a big hand in that and it also, as a big plus, prolongs the fragrance's lifetime. Meanwhile, cardamom and pepper shape the spicy facet of the elemi. Of note, the elemi here is very reminiscent of the elemi you find in MFK's Oud and Oud Extrait. That can be considered a sign of quality on favour of Néroli d'Ispahan. Overall, Néroli d'Ispahan is a good addition to the neroli group and I highly recommend neroli lovers to try it as its smell is rather interesting compared to the 4711 clones that fill the market. Unisex, warm weather wear. Big "Like"

Néroli d'Ispahan by Boucheron My wife loved that at first sniff during a short trip in Cannes, and that love cost me quite some time to find it again a retailer that sells it, and of course also the unusual price tag. I don't like the fact that almost every brand has their niche line now at crazy prices, D&G, Givenchy, Zegna, Bulgari Gemme etc. However this one is a jackpot, need to congratulate the lady now. It is a perfectly fresh, feminine leaning unisex, all time versatile fragrance. Don't let the name Neroli or Ispahan fool you. It doesn't have the same classic eau de cologne vibe as Neroli Portofino or its wannabes. Neroli is just an intermediary here to a fantastic amber (ambroxan of course, but perfectly worked), cardamom and musk concotion. Ispahan may also ring some orientalist, heavy-sweet smell bells but no, it has nothing like that. The sillage and the staying power is also immense. I can't believe how they could make this light aroma that much long lasting. The smell doesn't change a lot, which is not a bad thing because it smells fantastic. So even though it is a bit expensive, give it a try,I am sure you'll love it.

This is a beautiful, peppery neroli with zesty background notes. I understand that it's very well put together, and I love having it in my collection, but it doesn't scream elegance or sophistication to me. It's more like a fun, bubbly spring scent for people that don't want to smell like citrus juice. It reminds me of juicy fruit gum, but my boyfriend says it smells like sweet tarts, and I see that comparison too. Honestly, it's great - and I wouldn't let the less-than-elegant scent dissuade you from testing it out.

Creamy subdued neroli. If I had to describe it, I would say a slightly sweeter, warmer and creamier Amouage Reflection Man. Solidly unisex and as a man, would have no problem wearing. Someone above mentioned a faint "Desitin" cream vibe. I get that, but Its pretty pleasant. If you like Amouage Reflection Man, this is not a far leap.

Surprised by the dry down. I didn't really like it for the first 20 minutes as it's very bright and aromatic but once it starts to relax it just becomes very beautiful. I'm always in love with the magic labdanum has on other notes. This isn't something very shocking or unique, but it is very pleasant. 6.5/10

this is a very pretty neroli with spices and resins to start. there is a hint of something sweet and warm, but not sure what it is, and this is not what i expected at all! this is basically a sweet, resinous neroli which turns to a spicy patchouli neroli. i think it's totally unisex and really pretty.

Neroli with lightly stewed ginger and cardamom. Makes it smell like a body balm, but still retains the freshness I associate with neroli. Not super strong, definitely needs to be reapplied during the day. Warm weather only.

You know the spicy/minty massage gels and balms for muscles and joints? This scent smells the same way! It's a very nice twist on neroli-based perfumes. It's great but totally unisex, leans toward masculine in its evolution. I wouldn't see myself wearing it, but it's definitely unique! 7.5/10

It's ok - stylish and somehow original, and "expensive", but it is too weak, also too sweet for an unisex scent. Tends to a feminine side. And, of course, it is too overpriced. But Boucheron Iris from these series is better.

This is a nice spicy neroli based scent for warm weather, daytime. It leans slightly to feminine scents. Sillage is soft, longevity is nice moderate. Dominant notes are neroli, ginger, elemi and amber which looks like as ambroxan which is found in many modern creations but smoother and calmer but still very spicy and harsh compared to common amber. This is not the classic warm and cozy amber we all know and this is the main reason I don't like it. It feels cheap.

Neroli, with pepper lingering in the background throughout. Dries down as fresh hairspray scent on me. I cannot tolerate the pepper personally, but otherwise it's a nice daytime fragrance.

This is not for me, all I get is first an almost Desiten cream smell, then an almost burning rubber on the dry down. So happy I got a sample first.

I concur with RadicalScents' comment below. A semi-creamy neroli scent with a light peppery kick which smells like a sweeter version of Reflection Man. It's one part creamy and one part floral. There's some faint woody qualities in here due to perhaps the elemi resin which has this dusty ''old book'' kind of smell and patchouli, but apart from that it's a well blended and pleasant smelling neroli dominant fragrance. Not too soapy but definitely creamy. Unisex although maybe a bit more feminine leaning. It's linear and ultimately quite uninteresting. If you somehow want a sweeter Reflection Man, this one may be for you. 6/10

Way too better than Elise Rance 1795 in terms of drydown. Actually, they are not comparable in this case because the drydown of Neroli d'Ispahan is so natural but Rance smells plastic. I've traveled more than 12 times to Esfahan (Ispahan). Definitely I will wear this in the next time. P.S: just in the drydown it slightly leans toward men's perfumes. It stays more than 24hr on clothes. It's not light yet not cloying in any way.

This is not your usual fresh summertime neroli. This fragrance is very warm, kinda sweet, slightly spicy, and better suited to nights and/or colder months. It is really a different take on the neroli note which makes it worth picking up. Every fragrance I have smelled from this Boucheron La collection smells very luxurious and sophisticated and is better paired with the finer sections and selections of your closet.

Beautifully blended oriental. Could swear there is a vanilla accord in there & to me..very reminiscent of Givenchy's Ange ou Demon, laden with musk. Would love the fresh opening to carry through the pyramid though. Lovers of 'long-lasting' scents will be happy.

-Ghost note of coriander in this. -Dries down to something food-like. Has a watery quality. -Food dunked in a bucket of ocean water? This is a weird one. -Reminiscent of Hermes Un Jardin Mousson. (-)

Smells great. Neroli fragrances smell pretty similar across the board. But this is great!
