Oud de Carthage

This is very interesting! It's the roundest and politest oud I have smelt! It is so good and I feel that it's modest enough to wear it in office. Smells like Guerlain or Hermès in their perfection of sweeter kind of scents. I don't know yet about the longevity though but it lasts many hours at least. Since the oud is so fine here and I can wear it at work I just had to get a bottle which I did. It is not primarily an oud scent though: oud is only a background player, very much tamed. The whole scent smells more expensive than what it is by the price. There's only one other oud-related/named scent (at the moment) that I could wear outside and maybe even in the office: Flor Oud by Khadlaj where the oud is barely there under faint and unique florals, very interesting and quality stuff for a cheapie. After having got the bottle and smelling it again on hand and shirt: it is patchouli oud! Patchouli is not even listed but I like it in here. Any similarity? The modesty actually reminds me Another 13. It's like the less-sillage oud version of that and Another 13 is one of my absolute favourites. Then I read the reviews here. Similar to Black Orchid? Sprayed it on to verify -- absolutely not. BO is so strong and so different, started smelling over ODC. Man in Black? Sprayed it on as well -- absolutely not, this is so much more sweeter and stronger (and I have many others similar to this one, none of them are similar). Someone mentioned hay. Is it September? Sprayed this one on my skin too just like the others and I'm already running out of my free hand area -- again, absolutely not, September is a hay vetiver type and not sweet (it is one of the best mild grey vetivers). Since I started smelling patchouli after a while, maybe it's the Premium II L'Eau de Parfum by Korres? Although the patchouli should be tobacco instead? I barely found any free place left on my hand but I sprayed it a bit -- not really that one either but after a while they became more similar. Later I also compared with Bvlgari's Kobraa and there is a bit similarity but Kobraa is so much stronger and also stronger on patchouli. So I think the mentioned scent by Korres is most similar. But how did other people consider those other scents similar to this one? Whoever knows mathematics can possibly understand when I say that their "similarity" equivalence relation class of Oud de Carthage (and possibly other similarity classes with other scents) just happens to be bigger and this can happen easily when people either haven't smelt enough different scents or they just haven't smelt the particularly close one or because noses are different. I do have many scents of this type because I like these and that's why, even though I can say they are generally similar (by their type or something), I won't consider them similar enough so that if I have one then the others are unnecessary. To put it another way: I do have Oud de Carthage, Premium II, Man in Black, Black Orchid, Velvet Orhid, Ombre Leather, Noir Extreme, Nerotic, Kashnoir, 303 and maybe even more, but to me, despite being of the same type they are all different enough to have them and enjoy them, they're not redundant to each other.

I just got this in the mail and first impression is this is unreal!!! One of my most successful blind buys EVER, pretty affordable for the quality and size. This fragrance is beast mode btw, like truly. One spray on my wrist and it literally filled the room. This smells utterly delicious and perfectly unisex. My first Boucheron but definitely not my last. If you’re thinking about buying this just do it. Update: this perfume is absolutely AMAZING and I’m just totally obsessed. I swear it keeps getting better and better! I’ve found myself reaching for this more and more to the point where it’s been practically the only thing I’ve been wearing even though I just got several new perfumes. And I love them. But this is just SO GOOD, it’s all I want!! And the more I wear it, the more I notice new facets that weren’t immediately obvious. For example, it is chocolatey! The way the oud interacts with the honey and other notes it creates this incredibly rich and delightful chocolate note! Chocolatey like TF Black Orchid or Angel or any really rich chocolatey patchouli type fragrance, not a thin sugary milk chocolate. And the honey combined with the other notes also gives me the impression of spiced apple pie-like amber, just like in Hermes Ambre Narguille. But despite being utterly mouth wateringly delicious, it never gets too sweet because the dark, rich, leathery oud just tempers the sweetness just as well as it melds with it, which is so well! The notes in this fragrance are all delicious and some of my very favorite notes, but the fragrance they create is more than the sum of its parts. This is a masterpiece and I just want to bathe in this stuff and drink it! I can’t understand the middling reviews at all-this is NOT. A generic western oud scent at all! Nothing wrong with those scents btw, but this simply isn’t that. It may be a more western oud (though far less so than say, TF Oud Wood) but it is NOT generic, it’s very high niche quality and absolutely unique, especially among western ouds. Of course there are many scents in the same family as this, but I have never smelled anything just like it or that I could even remotely consider as a dupe or replacement. I am so super excited to try more Boucheron scents from this collection now! I love that they’re pretty reasonably priced for a “exclusive” line, and definitely for the actual quality! The quality is easily that of a $300/$400+ perfume. The bottle is also stunning, as is even the box that it comes in, and it’s hefty, weighty, and just oozes quality and luxury. The sprayer mists it out absolutely perfectly. It’s the little things that Boucheron all got right that in addition to the scent itself really makes this feel like a $500 bottle of perfume. I’m stoked to try Feve Tonka de Canaima, Ambre d’alexandrie, Cuir Venise, Iris de Syracuse, and the vanille one (forgot the name) as a well as probably a few others down the line. And yes, I will blind buy them! I am that confident after this one. Edit: I don't know how, but I even get whiffs of Hypnotic Poison in this, another all time favorite of mine! Magic!

So I'll get to the point. I just love the DNA around Penhaligon's Halfeti, Chopard Oud Malaki, Rasasi Satoor Waaw, Montale Oud Dream etc. (Halfeti is by far the best IMO). So you can understand there's no way I wouldn't like Oud de Carthage. It's not offering much difference in terms of scent - yes it's that close but you could say Oud de Carthage has more of a cedarwood where Halfeti has more of a leather and sandalwood kick. But there's just this quality difference, that I think only Halfeti can compete with Oud de Carthage. If you've only experienced Oud-Rose total Eastern type of scents and if that's the Oud you are conditioned to smell, then you might even think these have no oud note whatsoever. And you wouldn't be wrong. Since natural oud almost never find place in mass produced fine fragrances, most we find are fantasy oud interpretations usually made by reconstructed bases or Cypriol oil in combination with other ingredients, patchouli, Cashmeran and some woody ambers at times etc. In the end, doesn't smell like real oud note at all. Just a nice woody something. This is a smooth woody profile with honey note that has absolutely no sharp or dirty edges. It's the perfect warming scent for colder weather, so relaxing and at the same time classy. Typical accord from Dominique Ropion. Longevity is around 7-8 hrs on my skin with noticeable projection and I'm pretty sure it's actually longer but I didn't move much + olfactive fatigue. Safe to say performance will not disappoint. As many, i bought this release with the expectation it will be "Chopard Oud Malaki on a higher budget" but this is not what this is. The people that claim "those are the same fragrances" are clearly making sh*t up based solely on information they got online, instead through their noses. The initial opening blasting you with a fresh sawdust feel might be the only point the two releases touch for me. But that is quite quickly overtaken by the smoky and sweet notes and creates a much richer, denser scent that Oud Malaki ever manages to be. The "oud" note despite being marked as "agarwood" on Fragrantica is noted as "Oud Wood" on the official note breakdown, which pretty much matches with the westernized fresh wood chips type of "oud", but the combination with incense, labdanum and honeyed sweetness combined with the oud accord manages to drive it very successfully into a more earthy, darker almost middle eastern type of oud direction. On the drydown the tonka takes over from the incense and labdanum and redirects the oud accord into a sweeter, cleaner, more creamy balsamic direction, which might be a disappointment to the hardcore "real oud" fragheads, but i would say it works well for this release. All and all, an excellent composition and masterful blend by one of the biggest names in perfumery, Ropion. Got a bottle through a discounter for about 60 euro.. i would say, at that price its a steal.

Wow this is a heavy-hitter. It reminds me of a few scents but I can't quite place which ones. I'm vaguely reminded of Opium by YSL, Bleu de Chanel, Angel by Thierry Mugler and Tom-Ford Orchid range but it doesn't smell like any of those exactly, more in the same vibe as them. It has a strong oud note which is slightly barnyardy but not in a gross way, it is very cozy and comforting. Definitely pick up on a lot of honey instantly along with the oud and some incense. It is very high quality from what I can tell so far and smells very expensive. It projects and you definitely don't need too much, however it will not overwhelm people around you unless you seriously overspray (in which case I can imagine it would cause headaches because it is STRONG). It is very gourmand and spicy but not too sweet. The honey here is blended very well with the oud and incense so that it can be identified but does not lead or overpower the other notes. It is deep and mysterious and quite addictive. I would say this leans slightly masculine but could definitely be worn by women too. I would slightly prefer to smell it on a guy than myself but I still enjoy it on me. Will definitely try layering this with other perfumes I have that are sweet and feminine to give them some more of a spicy, unisex vibe. I was looking for a spicy gourmand so I am very happy with it.

Oud de Carthage is a rich oriental amber-leathery fragrance. What sets Oud de Carthage apart is the blending and the quality of the raw materials: everything feels top-notch. There’s nothing screechy, synthetic, or chemical about it. It genuinely feels niche in quality. Although it comes from a designer house, Oud de Carthage wears like a niche fragrance. At the prices found on discount sites, it’s a real bargain. #1257 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant. This is the fourth I've tried in this "La Collection" series and I've loved them all, though I gave the "Iris de Syracuse" to a girlfriend as it was a couple of degrees too feminine for me. So to start with, I also have Chopard "Oud Malaki" and it's a good scent for the money, but to my nose the Chopard is a little harsher than this, and comes off a bit cheaper to my nose. I often react to white grapefruit that way. Oud Malaki would certainly be better off without that astringent note. This Boucheron scent is a smoother leather and tonka focused scent where oud is a supporting player at most. It is a little sweet, and the combination of honey, labdanum and incense tricks my nose into smelling amber and vanilla where there is none. This is a high quality scent, long lasting on the skin, moderate projection. It's not offensive if not over-sprayed, but I'd use caution wearing it in close spaces. More a date scent than business wear for me (I pretty much stick to fougeres for office wear). Reasonably priced at $99, and as soon as Jomashop gets it back in stock I'll order a full bottle.

This is my first review and I just have to rave about how much I enjoy this. I received this for my birthday and it is by far my favourite from the collection of which I also own Vanille de Zanzibar. On my skin Oud de Carthage smells rich, well rounded and luxurious. I find that the oud though noticeable, especially in the opening, is not the heavy medicinal type, instead rather soft and nicely wrapped up in the leather. Indeed similar to Black Orient from Bvlgari as mentioned by another reviewer, but has a certain sweetness to it due to the honey note, which for me makes this much more unisex. Interestingly enough my boyfriend absolutely loves this fragrance on me, but has commented that it smells too "feminine" for his liking when he tried it on for himself. Longevity is fantastic and this lasts all day on my skin and even longer on my clothing.

For me this is L'Insoumis from lalique mix with nice smoky oud, generally sweet warm smell with soft oud smokiness that is most prominent in the beginning later fades away the oud reminds me aoud exclusive from mancera. Performance is good only you need to understand that this want to be high end smell so expect soft projection just your personal smell bubble. Longevity is good round 8h on skin At the end need to say that the presentation is high level, sliding box, bottle , all is on high level plus if you look at the juice quality witch is for my nose really good that's really nice offering from boucheron definitely happy from my purchase and looking forward to grab more from this line. BIG LIKE 8/10

This scent is sexy in a bottle. What a wonderful scent. I‘m still mesmerized. A huge luxurious bottle. It opens spicy, ambery and fresh. It’s like an electric shock :) Then it gets honeyish and warm - but never sweet or with that decadent sugary touch! That’s magical. I love it. It echoes like Halfeti but it’s not the same. OTC is lighter, sexy and smokeyish. It also echoes Chopard‘s OM but it’s not metallic like this one is. OM opens metallic like licking on a battery while OTC is the Funk itself - without the metal in it. The oud is subtle and not loud. It’s not mute though! It’s like from opening to dry down in the background.

Wow. This is an expensive-smelling fragrance from start to finish. Starts with a great, masculine sweet leather opening, and ends with a smooth, more unisex creamy drydown that lasts for ages. I LOVE this. So sad I only have a 5ml sample. I am going hunting for this in early 2021 because all my normal sources don't have this in stock. Hopefully its not too expensive, sigh. I had to wear this several times in the last 2 weeks because I couldn't believe what I was smelling in the drydown came from the same fragrance that gave the strong opening. Thought they were two different perfumes!

To me this is spicy, and the depth of it's spice bites so hard and to the core that when I top if off with the sweet and crowd-pleasing Spice Bomb Extreme the blending is absolutely divine.

My goodness, this is an amazing creation. Deep and rich, lasted nearly 10.5 hours and then to a skin scent. Top notch!

Oud de Cartahge by Boucheron. Not something which I'd buy for myself. My mom doesn't like it so I inherited it so to speak. Firstly the name is wrong- there'sno oud here whatsoever. Sweet, warm spice is all I get. Let me be more specific. This thing starts with a honey, slightly smoky note from the incense. It's wearable, polite and inviting. Nothing scary here. After that itstarts to get creamier and creamier and the tonka and labdanum join the party. Not long after( maybe 40 mins) comes the drydown- and *surprise, surprise* there' sno oud. Instead you get the leather, but it's not harsh, stinky or heavy- it's more suede than raw leather. I personally get something somewhat animalic, just to give a bit of a kick I guess. The end result is a creamy, polite, gourmandy coctail of warm spices and some suede leather. Nothing scary, nothing off-putting. A very designer, western oud. Is it reinventing the wheel? Nope. Is it original- definately not. If you're into frags, you'll immediately know the scentprofile. The blending and quality of the rawmaterials is what separates it from most designers- it's top notch! Nothing screechy, nothing synthetic and chemical. Longevity- overall good, but could be better. I get 7 hrs on skin and 8,9 on clothing. As far as projection goes- stays within one's kwn bubble- nothing screaming here. It's ok. Nothing to write about. For whom it is? It tilts to the feminine side for me personally. It's heavy, but it's balanced and has *lots* of sweetness. Btw, people who say that this is not sweet are used to syryp bombs- this is almost a gourmand, folks! However a guy could pull this off. Seasonswise- cold temps. Winter and late Autumn. It's dense and would stink in heat. Not to mention that it'll become cloying. It leans formal according to my nose. Ot has class and wouldn't suit anything other than formal and smart casual clothing. Perhaps chinos, leather boots, heavy winter coat and a scarf. No sweatpants here, guys. In conclusion- a sweet,dense almost gourmand frag. Polite,calm and heavy tonka/labdanum, plus some leather/suede. Nothing new to write about. As it dries down ot gets smokier and the leather and labdanum add depth and character. I would not pay retail for this *ever*. This is a scent for someone who is heavy into sweet grags and is new to this game. Someone experinced will probably find this unimaginative,although it's not super boring and has some interesting facets to ot. 7/10 Would never buy it for myself, because I don't like sweet frags, but I appreciate the blend and quality of the ingriedients.

Oud de Carthage portrays a bit of the history of Carthage, which was an ancient city colonized by the Phoenicians and that fought with Rome for control over the Mediterranean Sea. It was, later, rebuilt as a Roman colony and made wealth in the trade of dyed fabrics for nobles. Inside the Boucheron La Collection, it represents the importance of Carthage in the stretch of passage to Tunisia lands, involving the commerce of spices, incense, and precious stones. The hunters were always behind the smoky quartz, a glowing stone as enigmatic as the smell of oud. The fragrance of Oud de Carthage was created by Dominique Ropion and is composed through the union of incense and honey, at the top of the olfactory pyramid, making way for tonka bean and labdanum absolute in the heart, towards the base of oud and leather. On the skin, Oud de Carthage carries less oud than we expect and more quality than we believe. Once the perfume is applied, it seems to exude a suede scent. The incense is subtle and the result of its union with honey is smoother than smoky. When the tonka bean appears, it brings that creaminess already known in the universe of perfumes. That’s when the fragrance becomes Oriental and the leathery aspect of the labdanum begins to draw the final course of evolution. Finally, Oud de Carthage brings a drier base, in which the leather has more presence than the oud itself, which should be the star of the composition. For those who expect the animalic and medicinal smell of the oud or that woody-chocolate facet of some species, the disappointment can be huge. In terms of oud, on my skin the most prominent nuance is indeed the woody, but nothing that is extravagant to the point of saying "wow, what a fantastic oud". In my opinion, it is an oriental scent and more focused on leather than on oud's note. But honestly, the quality of the fragrance is very noticeable. It is not a bomb, but it has a moderate projection, which reflects the concept of elegance of the house and the lasting is very good. According to the company, the olfactory competitions would be Oud Wood (Tom Ford), Oud Ispahan (Dior) and Oud Royal (Armani Privé). Take my advice and do yourself a favor: forget the oud and imagine that this perfume is called Leather/Cuir de Carthage. I'm sure the effect will be more positive this way.

This fragrance portrays the prosperity of ancient Carthage as a center of trade for gold and ivory—and that image feels convincing. From the very first spray you sense something warm, dense, and slightly distant, as if it carries the atmosphere of an old civilization. The opening combines honey and incense: sweet, but with a faint smoky edge. It feels like afternoon sunlight filtering through the cracks of ancient stone walls—there’s dust in the air, but also warmth. Labdanum appears soon after, pulling the composition into a thicker resinous space with a slight leathery tone. The scent feels quite static, without dramatic projection, but the layering is clear—like a stack of old materials slowly warming up and releasing their scent. The oud here leans more Western in style: clean and free of animalic notes, closer to the smell of freshly cut wood. It blends naturally with the honey and incense, and when tonka bean enters, the scent shifts toward a bittersweet creaminess. It almost feels like small pieces of chocolate mixed into resin—not obvious, but quietly captivating. Overall the character is restrained and understated, suitable for both men and women and easy to wear in many settings. A friend once said it reminded them of Oud Malaki, but to me the similarity is only in the opening’s woody tone. After that, the development is quite different. This one feels more layered and more gentle. It isn’t a traditional Middle Eastern oud, nor a typical Western woody fragrance. It feels more like a hand-rolled scroll of spices brought back from ancient Carthage—quiet, complex, and intriguing.

Quality ingredients are obviously present but this smooth Boucheron is not an oud scent. You may feel some dark woody notes at the opening that look like oud but it's not real stuff not even a good synthetic oud. The oud has the same feeling as in Ajmal Ambre Pimente for example. If you are into fragrances you may find it quite generic. If you are not, you may find it gorgeous. For me is just a nice smelling scent which I've smelt it before many times in cheap arabic scents such as Ajmal, Rasasi, Emper etc but with smoother character. It's a quality scent. The opening is the best part of the evolution of this fragrance. It starts with strong presence and arabic character becoming a moderate western one after 2 hours. It lives up to 3.5-4 hours then it becomes a nice but generic skin scent. The dominant notes are honey, leather and tonka bean. The "oud" has short life. After 4 hours it reminds me the Carolina Herrera 212 VIP Men which I own. The sweet honey combo gives exactly the same sweet boozy feeling as CH 212 VIP. It was a big dissapointment for me. BTW this scent costs here 270 usd per bottle.. The longevity -as a skin scent most of the time- is great, 8-9 hours. The projection lives up to 2 hours and is moderate. Most of the time this scent stays close to thee skin. Verdict. A nice quality but generic fragrance suitable fot fall/winter. Personally I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There are much better scents than this.

A sophisticated, tame, sweet leathery wood with a nutty, incensey background. It’s a more masculine leaning scent, but I would wear it. I love that it’s sweetened with honey and enveloped in warmth by labdanum and I like the slight smoky smell from incense. The performance is phenomenal as is the price and the presentation. I am telling you, whichever one you choose from this Boucheron La Collection you will have a banger perfume. I own already the amber one, the patchouli, the leather and the tonka one and after trying this and the iris one, I will add these two to my collection in the near future. For the price these bottles go on the discount websites, they are a steal. And in this economy, I can rarely say that! Gorgeous leathery, woody, moderately sweet fragrance with amazing longevity. See Tom Ford, oud can be done for prices that’s not stupidly expensive, take note...

I got a decant of this from Fragrancenet and immediately it gave me Penhaligon's Halfeti vibes. If you love Halfeti, will like Boucheron Oud de Carthage. Side by side comparison, Oud de Carthage is a bit more smokey and herbal/medicinal than Halfeti. Like Halfeti it is definitely strong and has enormous sillage so beware. Probably not office friendly, but I have worn it to work without any complaints and many compliments. Go figure. Its definitely unisex---as a woman this suits me fine when I want something bold and warm. Not sure yet if I will go for a full bottle.

There really seems to be a mixture of opinions about the notes in this fragrance and its general vibe. I really am not getting any of the notes listed here except maybe a sweet-ish honey. Definitely not proper oud nor leather. Mostly sweet and soft, almost identical to the drydown of Mr. Sam, which to me is a combination of Vanilla, Tobacco and Cedar. Kinda confused about this Boucheron Fragrance. The perfomance is okay, but could certainly be better. Nonetheless, some deals can be had for this 125ml bottle. Rating: 7/10 - Good!

If you're not too comfortable with oud and its animalic facets, I think you might still enjoy this one. It's definitely an oud-based fragrance, but the oud here is very soft, wrapped in honey and tonka, and giving off more of a woody impression than an animalic one. I'm not a fan of animalic scents myself, but I find this Oud de Carthage to be very well done and very elegant.

Sweet honey and tonka and soft smokey oud, rounded out by a smooth leather. Likeable, super easy to wear, very approachable. It's perfect for cool/cold weather, projects strongly and lasts all day.

Rich and sweet woody scent. A bit smokey but nothing harsh. It’s soft and sensual. Really unisex and expensive smelling. A good choice for cold days. Also easy on oud beginners.

If you like Halfeti, this is very similar DNA. The opening is smoky, bitter, sharp, harsh and leathery for me and the honey is not able to sweeten the same. Since there is no Rose, the scent profile remains dry. Oud stays tamed and in the background. Try before you buy. Amazing blending and above average performance. Masculine leaning and safe for office & evening wear.

Kind of plain for an oud fragrance but it's good - they managed to make an oud without rose so bonus points for that.

Impact This starts out oddly as a completed Bvlgari Men Black dry down. Beachy, creamy, soft, creamsicle. On my skin it takes a sharp turn to an animalistic fur note and sets the dry down. Wearability? This isn’t something I’d grab if I wanted oud. In fact, the only oudlike note I’m getting on my skin, is an animalistic musk, a soft friendly one, not a raw, wild one. And that’s not even an oud scent so much as much as it is a scent blended with oud. It’s odd animal musk beach. Maybe because it’s hot here in the mid Atlantic, but the oud, the honey, the leather, the smoke, is not coming through from my skin, sadly. I’m curious if others have this issue. I’m instead getting a buttery popcorn scent, almost orange and yellow floral. To me it’s not very wearable, and in fact comes across as an uninspiring, poorly balanced, almost stuck scent that wants to morph but can’t; a spill; an accident. Bottom line I can’t recommend this unless you want to smell like a muddy, well populated beach. The silliage is ok, but quick. The longevity is lacking. The projection is moderate but poorly conceived an unbalanced. To me, not a blind buy.

I cannot weap my head around the similarities it has with Chopard Oud Malaki. Its like 95% similar. They keep pushing the same fragrance under different names. Save your money and buy Chopard Oud Malaki for half the price. Same perfumer and the same smell. I am totally let down by this line.

Oud Carthage - Did you have fun? Did you have fun? Isn't that what you came for?... - Hispano! Hispano Hispano!!!.... (Dialogue from the film Gladiator 2000, Ridley Scott). This dialogue seems entirely perfect for this perfume. A perfume of earth, fire, and blood. Maximo the gladiator, Maximo the compassionate, would have been perfect to wear it. I can smell on his skin the rage and vengeance of a true Roman soldier, but at the same time the honor of the righteous comes to claim his name. This perfume has such a perfect oud that I can only see it worn by someone with a lot of charisma. When I say charisma, I mean a charisma that makes him a powerful fighter in life but at the same time capable of being honest and fair. That thick honey that lowers him to that level of a person of integrity but also compassion and romance hypnotizes me. Carthage ends with impeccable mysticism, completing this work thanks to those incense-filled traces, which give it the solemn immortality of these rulers of Ancient Rome. Those who were rulers because the people respected them, as he says in the film: "I wasn't the best because I was a skilled killer. I was the best because the public loved me." I just bought a full bottle of this while in Paris - January 2023. It is divine & I must correct others who say it smells like Black Orchid, it does not. There are no loud floral or fruity notes in this fragrance & it is much, much more complex with very interesting unisex spicy notes. Even though it’s Bucheron & technically a “designer” fragrance it smells carefully crafted, multi faceted & niche. I adore the top notes and have found I can preserve them by spraying the fragrance on my darker clothes. On my skin this fragrance develops all day long into something quite different and almost lightly gourmand- it never gets annoyingly sweet. This is a cold weather fragrance for sure. If you have ever smelled Golden Wanderers by Ex Nihilo it is like a cousin of that fragrance. It is luxurious & smells exclusive & expensive. I am obsessed & will be sad to put it away when the weather turns warm.

Misleading name. I'm not even sure if there's oud in here, and if there is it must've been composed with minute traces of it. The most prominent notes to me are tonka, honey, and labdanum. It's only barely smoky, the incense is faint. I have to say though that it's very smooth and well blended, but it smells very generic, ''designer'' like if you will. The honey is not syrupy or thick but adds a bit of creamy sweetness in the opening. The drydown is a bit more interesting with a lightly pungent, spicy (leathery) kick to it. All in all however, it's a pleasant smelling but dull tonka centric fragrance with barely (or no) oud at all. Easy to wear and very safe for that matter. Unisex, leaning masculine. Average performance. 6,5/10

I own Halfeti, Oud Malaki and Oud de Carthage. I have 3 sprays of Oud de Carthage on my left hand and 3 sprays of Oud Malaki on my right hand. For all intents and purposes, they are the same. Dominique Ropion copied his own homework, and I have no issue with that whatsoever. The sillage is the exact same, if you bury your nose in it, Oud de carthage is slightly smoother but has a touch more 'pencil shavings' in the first few minutes, but this dissapears almost immediately. If you are after this type of scent profile, your decision should come down to price and price alone. I paid £50 for 80ml of Oud Malaki, and £68 for 125ml of Oud de Carthage. You do the math.

I have blind bought this based on reviews that said it had some sweetness, due to honey and tonka - several reviews in fact. I do not know if my bottle has a problem because all I smell here are woods, not agarwood, but some kind of fresh cut wood with a little sharpness of green fresh woods.It is strong and could be headache inducing if not worn parsimoniously. It is definitely masculine, smells rich and well done but my expectations were for another thing so I was really stunned because it is not what most people have been reviewing, in my opinion. Very niche fragrance though.

@La Place Rouge - you have it absolutely spot on👌 You only need one of any of the following: Chopard's Oud Malaki; Oud 24 Hours by Ard Al Zaafaran; Oud de Carthage by Boucheron; or Black Orchid by Tom Ford. They have the same scent profile, smell incredibly similar. If you're on a budget then the Oud 24 Hours will be your pick - it's around $20.

Ropion should be ashamed of himself for this creation. Smells like the thousand ouds out there. Performance is atrocious. This is a waste of money guys Scent is unremarkable. Not even close to Halfeti 3/10 Performance is average . 5 hours. Projection good for only an hour. 4/10

Very nice and refined. Mercedes Benz Man Privé is very similar but sharper. Oud De Carthage is high quality niche scent to my nose. June 2024 update: vibes of Costume National and Man in Black Bulgari

Starts as the mid of Man Black Orient, mid is the dry down of MBO. More oudy than MBO. Surprising that MBO and ODC are both created by two distinct master perfumers and yet smells to alike!

-This is a scrubber. -Extremely heavy on the oud notes. -Not well-balanced at all. It's like Delina Exclusif, but with the oud amplified 50x louder. A total scrubber for me. (-)

I must absolutely say this: forget the name and the listed pyramid. This beautifully arranged scent is about one thing only. And that is Tom Ford Black Orchid. Full stop.

Gentle oud. It is more about spices in fact. It has cedar and vetiver for sure. Similar to Costume National Homme and Chopard Oud Malaki among others.

Identical to Helfeti... Honey sweet tonka beans, tobacco, and incense with some leather. Identical to Penhaligon's "Helfeli".

I am in love with Boucheron especially la collection. Absolutely beautiful . Niche quality criminally underrated !
