Wode (Paint)

Wode (Paint) surprised me in the weirdest but amazingly intrigued and addictive way. It's a rather linear scent in comparison with many other perfumes. It does change, but really smooth and subtle. It starts with a juniper dominant scent with a lot of other background scents mixed so well that I cannot tell what they really are. It makes me feel cold, a little bit lazy, tired, but relaxed. It feels like, without the lights on,you sitting in your study and watching through the window in a dim rainny winter afternoon. As the blue paint disappear, the scent gets sweeter, but it's certainly not the dull, sharp, plastic fruity sweetness you get from the mall. It's comforting and I feel really peaceful, like walking on dry leaves in a warm autumn day. It's a kinda dry sweetness with really light smokey edge, and somehow makes me think about tea leaves and tobacco leaves and some shy dry flowers mixed with sun-dried hey. Within two hours, the scent strats fading away. I can detect a trace of sweet sweat scent(which is more towards the plain milk biscuit kinda sweetness rather than a sexy Cabaret type of sweat). Suprisingly, this veil of 'sweat' scent is really comforting and I totally love it. However, Paint doesn't last(normally edts lasts 5-7 hours on me). I am wondering is that a part of the art for Wode(paint)? As if it wanted to get some messeges cross, like 'Lovely moments aren't long, what's left is the memory' or 'What considered as Arts of a certain era is really temporary in comparison with the human civilization' etc... Well, I guess I've been thinking too much because I really love Paint. About the presentation of Wode(paint), it does have some really interesting concept and played with acid-base science well. However, I guess, to different people, the 'magic-ink' cliché will either make or break the impression of the perfume. Anyways, it is really brave and interesting. You should at least try it once in your life. :-)

Don ́t judge it because of it ́s crappy commercial with the blue paint on the poor women that seem like she ́s in pain! This is a really interesting perfume, and I like it a lot. But be warned, it kind of scary and make me think of the movie Blair witch project. This is the perfect perfume to wear when you watch that movie, if you dare... I don ́t! I think the movie is frightening enough by it ́s own. A dense, almost unfriendly scent of a dark forrest, you are totally lost and running around in the darkness of the forrest, stumbling on wet rocks and roots at the ground. You are totally convinced that unfriendly animals hide behind every tree... Sounds kind of scary, eh? Well, it is and still it ́s really nice to wear... I guess I like to be scared.

If you're into experimental fragrances this is something worth checking out. An interesting rendition of leather which takes the distance from other fragrances in the same vein by achieving a luxury vibe via non-conventional languages. In this context, Wode is similar to what Comme Des Garcons or, let's say, Martin Margiela have done with their clothes collections. High-end luxury goods with a remarkable avant-garde/punk attitude. Wode it's just lie that. It's a punk leather jacket wore on a chiffon white shirt or, if you prefer, it's like going to an S&M party wearing a Rick Owens' leather courset. How it smells like? Non-animalic yet incredibly realistic raw leather, dark green vegetals and spices blended together in a petrol-like magma that's overall crude yet quite compelling. Both projection and lasting power are average. The fragrance is available in two different editions: Scent and Paint (both of them coming in a aluminum paint-like can). The former it's stronger and comes as a traditionally transparent liquid while the latter is an actual cobalt-blue paint that when sprayed on clothes and/or body, magically disappears after a few minutes...Scary. Caution: The typical fragrance that makes perfume purists horrifying. Rating: 7.5/10

Just a brief Paint Purist note... The ancient Celts and Britons used an Indigo dye, made from the plant material 'woad', not a cobalt, which is actually a rock-based pigment, and rather poisonous. Sorry, it's a minor point, and I wish I could recall which plant yielded the Indigo dye.

I have not smelled this, I am VERY curious though. If someone wants to part with a bottle let me know.

the blue paint will disappear after rubbing. definitely smells like sex-a dirty one.
