Mais Oui

This feral yellow potion first sings all aldehydic and rosy, then crossfades into an indolic jasmine within a thicket of cedar-y woods, with an emphasis on "thick." Mais-Oui? "May Wee!" because of the florals and the honey that begins to pool into a basin of costus, civet, and ambergris—a humming, flirtatious skin scent that would be so tough to reconstruct in modern times. It is certain that the New Yorker was as the kids say today "slaying" when they asserted in 1942 that Mais-Oui was favorite of those who "like gaiety with their sex appeal."

Here I am face to face or should I say nose to arm with another prehistoric perfume. In just a few whiffs, you can smell the atavism in today's fragrances. This is a perfume devoid of teenage usage. Definitely a paragon to the great depression with timeworn oakmoss which is down right moist and muggy. The wood is sodden and conjoined to the lichen which adds to the melancholia. Once you reach the jasmine, you will quickly learn that it's pretty much Mais Oui's central nervous system. Jasmine also serves as the only break in the clouds to an otherwise somber scent. The tranquilizing effects of the jasmine is ever present abducting the warmth of the tonka and honey. To be frank, this is an indolic fragrance with appendages. One of the main limbs are fitted out with musk fortified by civet. The styrax gives off this smokey nuance making the benzoin more of an apparition than something that's actualized. The rose is used as a whistle-stop when the engine-like jasmine has an entanglement with the romantic flower. The bottom half of the fragrance is outfitted with delicate powder emitting from the unrosy rose. This fossil sits close to the skin but calling this a skin scent would be a misnomer. When all notes fade away, the white floral remain secured. What better way to arm the female exterior?

I found a killer deal on eBay and had to snatch it up! This is beautiful but to me it’s not as animalic as the votes are making it out to be. It’s more floral kind of like My Sin or Sortilege. This isn’t in Schiaparelli or Bal V territory.
