Cowboy Kush

Oh, Boy Smells. Oh, Cowboy Kush. What is there to say? It's perfect. This goes for any occasion. My ex-boyfriend loved it. My current lover, loves it. My Mexican-Catholic-immigrant mom loves it. My boss loves it. I love it. Such a peculiar scent. No one else has agreed with me, but I almost get a bubblegum effect from the powdery saffron, in the best way. Not "sweet, sticky, childhood bubblegum", but maybe like... smells like how chewing gum feels? That probably doesn't make sense, or translate well. Maybe because it's so, so, so smooth. If I had to describe the scent in a totality, it would be the smoothest, cleanest bud of weed. The suede, the leather, the powdery saffron—this is suede incarnate and it makes me feel so fucking cool. Suede isn't my favorite, as it can feel a bit too clean or uptight (sometimes I think suede smells like how influencers think they look), but this is corrected, and shot to new heights, with the subtle spiciness and dirtiness of the saffron, patchouli, oud, tobacco, cannabis. It becomes very complex, very wearable, very down to earth and intoxicating. I really don't get hazelnut or mandarin at all, though. There's also a slight sweetness from the labdanum and tonka, but again, the spice/dirt makes it a hundred times more unisex, wearable, cool. I really can't get enough of this scent. When I say everyone I've met loves this, I mean everyone. If I want compliments I usually go for this, and it feels perfect for any occasion. This doesn't feel at all like a cold weather scent to me, but I'll be damned if I don't wear this at least twice a week until this thing runs dry.

I am surprised I don't see smokey listed as an accord, as - at least for the first hour into dry down - the predominant note I get/got is/was a predominant smokey note that reminds me of Kentucky fire-cured tobacco (as opposed to cannabis). The leather seems to be lurking in the background, present but overshadowed by smoke. After that first hour or so, the leather note emerges more. Yes, I pick up suede, but it is a freshly-cured suede. My wife said she can pick up on the cannabis, but as someone who has seven grow cycles using his state-allowed six plants, I am more familiar with the odor of cannabis than my wife, and I have to do some olfactory gymnastics to pick up even a trace of cannabis smell. This fragrance is best IMO upon application - the mandarin orange and hazelnut are so well blended it makes the fragrance seem far more coherent than Byredo's Mixed Emotions, the scent this immediately recalled. ETA: After a few applications the cannabis note has become more apparent and this has really grown on me. Def. not a blind buy tho.

I loved Cowboy Kush as a candle, so I got the scent. And unlike Hinoki Fantome, I was not disappointed. On me, this smells just like the candle. All I get is leather/suede, saffron, incense, patchouli, and a touch of cannabis. This is dry, dusty, and golden. Cowboy Kush could easily be a sunny stroll through Joshua Tree or Marfa...it comes off as smooth and laid-back. You could also wear this dressed up at night for a chic/sexy vibe. I think this is a great all-purpose, multi-faceted scent as long as you're into woody leathers. Of all that I have tried, Cowboy Kush is my favorite from Boy Smells, so far. Good stuff.

An old flame had the original formulation of this and I couldn't help but sneak a few sprays onto my clothes before heading to the airport. By my efforts it stuck in that shirt for the better part of two weeks. Leather, leather, and more leather, sweetened and complicated by a bouquet of love-them-or-hate-them notes. I smile at the thought of this smell. I thought I didn't like the original Boy Smells bottles until I saw the new ones-- okay, bring the originals back!

I get a burlap sack, motor oil, and the earthy, faint sweetness that comes from dried hay. I like this a lot, but the dry down isn’t much except like when you spill oil on yourself and remember at the end of the day. It’s good for a themed scent, and as somebody that grew up on a farm I really find this brings up memories of summer days. Lasting power of it is just not there though, and I don’t think this is going to be a a crowd pleaser.

Gorgeous nuanced leather, I got a 10 ml spray of this (the original formulation) and it smells just how I remember. The sweetness of the orange combined with the dankness of the cannabis leave me with a satisfying, well-rounded finish. I wish the cannabis were stronger but maybe I don't smell it much because I smoke it so often. Look no further for a great scent to pair with your favorite leather jacket.

heavy, deep, dark. no cannabis note as far as i can smell, but maybe that's because i smell the real plant every day. creamy-sweet, leathery, smokey, and just a bit boozy/syrupy. like the jacket of a scruffy boyfriend who just got back indoors after smoking his tobacco pipe on a freezing day. super nostalgic if you have any roots in kentucky!

I'll preface this by saying Cowboy Kush is my favorite Boy Smells candle! And this smells EXACTLY the same, just stronger. The cannabis smell is perfectly balanced and it fades to a sexy powdery saffron and tonka smell. Perfect for many seasons. Honestly works in the summer for a night time perfume because it gives cool desert hippie vibes.

i like this a lot more than i thought i would: no discernible weed smell, sprays on leathery/suede-y, with dry grassiness and notable saffron. after a few hours on the skin i get an unusual but alluring mix of bourbon, cocoa butter, dry sage, and baby powder? memorable and complex.

Cannot get enough of this scent. LOVE!

This was my signature scent for an about a year. Really started my journey into Niche fragrance houses. It's veryyyy heavy, and I personally love a heavier scent. Upon first spray you get an intense smokey, leathery, patchouli, and cannabis punch to the face. It takes about an hour to settle in, and it gets much more creamy with that saffron and tonka bean coming forward. It wears really nicely from day to night, but the sillage fades significantly. Im a lady that likes to wear very masculine leaning scents, and although Boy Scents is advertised as completely unisex, I do think this one lands on the male side of the spectrum. But I also really love smelling like a dude, so the male/female leaning thing kinda means nothing to me. But a forewarning if you do care about that ! This scent is perfect for the urban cowboy, Brooklyn hipster, that wants you to know his orange tab Levi's are originals. Or the cute lower-east-side lady wearing a long white skirt and cowboy boots that wants to attract a spicy love interest on a hot day. It's a unique scent, so not a blind buy. But I would highly recommend if you love a couple of the notes in there, because it's balanced very well. Its not very sweet, which is my personal preference, but I could see this working really well with the fragrance sweetener Sugar Addict, if you want to sweetened it up a bit and mellow out those harsh top notes. Like the reviewer below, Cowboy Kush is my all time favorite candle. But on my skin the fragrance smells quite different. It becomes cloyingly sweet and heavily syrupy. The notes seem less balanced than in the candle, it seems less complex, and I disappointingly just don’t like it as well. If it smelled just like the candle on me, I would be in love, but it’s simply not the same to me, so it’s only a like.

The herbal note is abrasive but it slowly clams down to something more inviting and smooth. I don’t clock it as weed though, more like a Chinese herbal medicine. Like the cowboy has a bad back so he’s been to the acupuncturist. The most niche of all the offerings from this brand. It’s got that addictive/ repugnant balancing act going on.

this is a fine leather scent wish it was more animatic it’s a bit on the cleaner side for me i don’t love the cannabis note in this i think it makes it really dry

The original formula was amazing. It smelled strong and capable. The new one is NAAAASSSSTTYYY. :/

This one is a fun concept, smells like a cowboy scent with dry grass, tobacco, and leather with the addition of weed. Sometimes it fades into the general smoky vibe of the fragrance while other times it makes me scared to wear to work because HR might think I’ve been lighting up. Overall pretty good but does have a time and place and would not be suitable for warm weather.

It's a great scent profile with the dirty leather and spices, followed by some creaminess. But I thought it smelled a little too much like Margiela Replica Under the Stars. The only reason I wouldn't add either of those to my collection is because I already have something that gives me a dark brooding vibe.

I really wanted to like this, I almost blind bought a full bottle because I was so sure I was going to like it. I’m so sorry but it’s nasty. Genuinely so peppery and synthetic that it burns. I like a stinky nasty scent but this is just. Not it.

This smells like weed. Not complaining or anything. This is what my college years smelled like so, it’s a touch nostalgic for me. I like it, and glad I got it.

To me, this really had an undertone of old socks. I know sometimes things can smell different to various people and I have to think, I’m not smelling it the way others are.
