Flor de la Virgen

Let me preface this by saying that I’m no fragrance expert whatsoever. I just enjoy fragrances and have tried enough to know what I tend to veer towards vs not. To me this fragrance is a juicy burst of pomelo, sweetened up a bit with honey. Then it shifts into some soft jasmine petals, not at all indolic. In fact, I find the jasmine to me quite subtle compared to the top notes, but I do get the gentlest of whiffs here and there. Then it dries down as a clean, slightly soapy musk. Appropriate for almost any occasion IMO. This might not be a particularly unique experience for most people, but I find the juicy top notes really worth it especially since it’s such a mood lifting fragrance to me. The longevity is there--lasts around 10 hours or so which is impressive for a deceptive light scent. I find that it definitely has more body compared to most citrus frags I’ve tried, which normally just disappear off my skin or I become noseblind to it after 30 min or so. This one lingers and stays on the skin really well for me personally, but your mileage may vary. Just received the full bottle today, and I’ve been spraying the sample almost everyday on myself. Really impressed with this fragrance (along with the others) from Boy Smells. Some other fragrances I’ve enjoyed as a ref: Jardins de Bagatelle by Guerlain (FB), Jasmin Antique by Rogue Perfumery (FB), La Douceur de Siam Parfums Dusita, Safanad by Parfums de Marly, Lust by Lush (FB). I’ve also enjoyed Viva La Juicy for a bit before discovering other fragrances.

I'm such a sucker for fruity florals and this one does not disappoint! Its so juicy, fun and easy to wear. None of the notes in particular jump out to me, but blend together so perfectly to create a luscious, vivacious fruity scent that instantly puts me in a happy mood. It has decent longevity and remains perceptible at least a few hours after applying. I hope Boy Smells continues going strong -- they've discontinued quite a few fragrances already (many I'd hoped to try!) and now offer a noticeably smaller perfume collection. I've loved most of what I've tried from them and find them to be a fun, cool brand so here's to hoping all is well in Boy Smells Land!

If you grew up loving Victoria's Secret Bombshell body spray, but you're older, wiser, and don't want to smell like a citronella candle, try this. Reminds me of a more complex Bombshell but grown up, less cloying, with a bright burst of freshness and mellow, zesty middle. I get pleasant citrus whiffs of the pomelo, jasmine, and fig all day. Addictively good to my nose. If you're a citrus fiend, absolutely try it. I'm going to wear this all winter to help me get through the seasonal doldrums. It's bright and happy, and reminds me of a sunny summer day. This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but wow is it shamelessly mine.

This one and marble fruit are the best in this collection. They smell delightful. I was worried how this one would translate on skin, as it smelled very harsh on the test strip. It is a juicy and sweet, yet very multidimensional jasminey experience. Labdanum is one of my favorite smells, and it really balances the juiciness of pomelo and jasmine. It’s not as unique as most of boy smells candles, but it is a perfect everyday perfume. I like it more than I expected to. I just put it on, so no word on longevity yet, but the dry down is so enjoyable. I really recommend trying this out.

Opens with a nice citrusy burst and quickly dries down to a sweet light floral scent. The honey notes are very prominent and the fragrance stays sweet the entire wear time. Makes for a nice feminine leaning spring/summer scent. Smells less adventurous than the others in the Boy Smells line but in turn it makes it very approachable. When I first got the discovery set I wasn’t that excited about it but the more I’ve used it I have really come to appreciate it. Definitely leaning towards getting a full bottle once I finish the sample! Easy to wear anytime anywhere during the summer.

Smells like you're running through a field wearing a white dress/what tampon commercials market periods as: fun, light, and flirty in a delusion, feverish way. I love it so much. A daytime pick-me-up. Perfectly sweet and floral. Wish it wore longer but it's such a treat. For fans of You, Or Someone Like You by Etat et al. Probably the best eau de parfum in their line-up, along with Italian Kush.

My favorite from Boy Smells. Reminds me a bit of Naked Bee. Mostly I am getting something like grapefruit rind, but softer and sweeter. Envelops like a protective cloud. I love it.

This is the best one on the list that I have smelled. It is unique and pleasant and light. The other ones seem to be garish and heavy.

i dont generally love super floral/fruity scents but this is so clean and refreshing it's really incredible. would highly recommend.

Such a gem. Fresh, versatile, ceremonial. Easy reach in hot weather and definitely the most unisex floral I have ever tried.

I've heard a good bit about Boy Smells, and happened upon them in a shoe shop of all places. As a lover of a good fig note, Flor de la Virgen was one I was keen to try. In a nutshell, it is a balsamic fig scent. I'm unsure about the combination of notes - it is a bit discordant, but creative. FDLV opens with a green fig leaf note on a rich, honeyed background. It is summery and makes me think of bees. There is a nice citrus freshness that lifts the sweet honey note nicely, making for a bright and unusual opening. The amber accord emerges fairly early on, alongside a sweet jasmine note that reminds me of J'Adore Dior. The fig remains fairly dominant, and makes for a dissonant counterpart to the balsamic, sweet amber. I'm not convinced of it here. It lightens off as it dries down, fading to a musky, ambery skin scent, still with remnants of fig and sweetness. The amber-fig accord settles nicely at this stage, it is pleasant and intriguing. Sillage and longevity are moderate, and it is feminine-leaning in my opinion due to the sweetness. Unusual, intriguing and high quality, this scent has many points of interest. An unusual summer scent featuring a creative use of fig. 3.5/5.

This is so bright and cheering! It’s not very sweet, but not sour either. I like the pomelo, it’s tart, and reads like the actual fruit, which has a thick pith and strong zest. The pithy part reads a little weensy bit musky, which is nice with the ivy. The honey is super faint and only puffs up here and there. Having said that, I don’t think I would have ID’d any of the mid or base notes without seeing the pyramid. IMO Boy Smells made very nice fragrances that were like wearing a good body splash, in that they were fun blends that weren’t too heavy or serious or anything, just something you could spritz on and not think about and trust it would make you smell nice and fresh. Flor de la Virgen is a sunny, zesty citrus with florals and a musky base. It opens with pomelo and lemon drizzled with honey. The green notes stand out in the dry down and the jasmine blossoms beautifully on the skin. This smells like summer showers and running through flower fields. This is the best scent Boy Smells has to offer by far. It's unique and doesn't have that astringent cleaner smell I get with other lemon fragrances. If you like ELDO's You or Someone Like You, Byredo Bal d'Afrique or Floral Street Sunflower Pop you must sample this <3 8/10

First blast of super sweet bright jasmine... overly sweet at first. Heavy handed and could be headache inducing in the heat of summer. After a minute, it calms down and there's a intriguing note of something coldly aromatic. Ah, saffron. Lovely! Still extremely sweet and yet it works. It's fresh, white floral, candied, and yet the warmth and weight of darker musk is there, elusive. Extremely strong projection, I wouldn't dare go more than one spray. Feminine and best for mild or cool weather.

Despite some super interesting notes (saffron!!), I mostly get a citrus floral that quickly wears to a musky base. It's fresh and youthful (virgen ✔️) while still being sexy; it could even fly at the office, imo. Where to wear: being 19 (at heart), making out in the deep end at a pool party

I like this. I can see it being cloying and headache inducing in high heat, but this would be great for spring. Very punchy and tart. Smells like a lush, dewy, fruity, green utopia. I agree with the J’adore comparison but this is less demure and more playful.

I love this for a date night. I think it strikes an interesting balance between being fresh and citrusy but also warm sweet and spicy. Almost a bit funky/animalistic after I’ve had it on a while, but in a way I really like.

A bright shining citrusy floral! I get some green notes in the opening and as it dries down it becomes more animalic and spicy while keeping the initial floral aspects.

I like this one a lot. It has a fresh citrus opening and it is fruity in a grape-soda-tropical-punch kinda vibe but tempered with the sweet honey and jasmine petals.

Love this perfume so much! This was my one of my gateway scents and it reminds me of if someone made a dab out of a jasmine petal in the best way possible. 9.2/10

This is probably my favorite in the Boy Smells line, and I'm generally not a floral person. That isn't saying much, though, as overall, I do not care for the quality of their fragrances. This is a nice floral that doesn't lean too far into any floral family (rose, white floral, yellow floral, etc.) It's just sort of floral. The most prominent floral in this is jasmine, to my nose. I don't get a distinct fruity quality, but there is a sweetness to it. I don't get pomelo or lemon specifically, and I don't even really get citrus. It just all kind of blends well. It's definitely a flirtier kind of feminine scent, which made me (a Mexican man) immediately think of well-dressed Mexican women at brunch after church. This is the type of scent they wore. However, my husband (not a Mexican person), smelled this and immediately said it smelled like something an aggressive woman would wear at a bar. So. There ya go. This has a touch of the cheap-quality thing I struggle with when it comes to this brand. I find their stuff to smell more like fabric softener or body wash than a fine fragrance. I don't know if it's the base, it's the use of a lot of ambroxan, or what the deal is. This one isn't nearly as bad as others (Les was by far the cheapest smelling to me), but there is something about it, especially as it dries down more, that veers into body spray territory and out of fine fragrance. I also would say they aren't really unisex. I don't mind a slightly feminine smell, and I find most masculine colognes to be far too soicy and heavy for the heat of where I live, but most of ehat BS produces is just too feminine for me. Overall, best of Boy Smells, but still not that unique or hard to find (it's just a vaguely sweet floral). You could get something like this from another brand at higher quality.

Flor de la Virgen is bursting with innocence and a gentle playfulness, reminding me of a Botticelli cherub dancing about your senses with grace and intrigue Light and sweet, this spilled with a fresh spray of freesia, lemon, and a very light powdery essence before a cheerful strawberry note rose and hurried along into sweet fig, honey, and bright citrus, swallowed by a coy musk and bashful greenery Most of the claimed notes however do not seem to cut through in a notable way (as you see which notes appeared to my senses whether truly within this formula or not), I agree with some commentary that it could be considered on the level and quality of a Victoria Secret fragrance but with a touch more depth and nuance, and it lasted for about 5-6 hours but was faint throughout my experience. Wish it were more potent/long lasting and with greater silage but I was not disappointed with this fresh and quasi-sultry scent leaning between a fruity floral and a skin scent. It leans very feminine to me so I do not exactly think it would pass as the claimed genderfluid scent but perhaps you would like to try, nonetheless angelic Pleasant and full of whimsy, Flor de la Virgen was a refreshing delight

This is my favorite of the Boy Smells cologne collection. I bought full sizes of Suede Pony (sold it) and Violet Ends (have it for sell now) and I liked them at first but the more I wore them, the more I didn't like the on my skin. I should've bought a full size of this and Rose Load instead, but I digress. When it comes to blind buys, you win some and lose some. Anyway, onto Flor de La Virgen... I definitely get the pomelo and lemon zest in the opening. Bright and citrusy. Then a little bit of sweetness comes through from the honey and the jasmine is there too. But I'm also getting a dank-y cannabis nuance as well. I actually love it. I'm not a cannabis smoker anymore. But I've always loved the smell of some good dank bud and this is that! A bit nostalgic for me lol. The cannabis nuance stays through out the whole wear time on my skin. The ambroxan and labdanum show out in the dry down. It's such a unique fragrance. And by far the best in the Boy Smells line up. I might a full bottle of this when spring hits.

When I initially smelled it a bit ago I fell in love and couldn’t remember what it was. On revisit, my sister said it reminded her of passion fruit and mango. That’s what it is, a very bright, sour, fruity green opening. Turns more into a general white floral musk as it dries, but the opening is amazing. If you don’t like ivy, saffron, or white florals you probably won’t like this. It’s very powdery and musky all throughout. Edit: tried it on skin, there’s a bit of a sweaty quality. Still nice, but does make me hesitant to say if this works for warmer weather Edit 2: sweaty quality only comes out close to the skin, like 2 inches? Other than that, might be a bit undetectable

Conflicted with this one. It’s very bright and citrusy but I can’t help but smell dill pickle and a cooking herb twang to it. I like to cook but I don’t know if I want my perfume to remind me of cooking food? It isn’t sweet in the slightest on me. That being said...I don’t dislike it, and my husband thought it smelled good.

I purchased as part of the discovery set at Sephora. This scent and Woodphoria were my favorite out of the box on blotters—bright and interesting. But both became too musky after the dry down. Flor is Jasmine, honey, with green zest from the citrus and ivy. It’s nice but $98 for 65ml for a skin scent...eh.

This smelled super spicy and clean on a friend of mine and I was so excited to try it for myself. 5 minutes in I smelled very floral and sweet - was missing the saffron and ambroxan - the two I was really excited about. The good news is when it does well on someone it does really well, just wasn't for me.

Light, floral and musky. Inoffensive and very pretty, not necessarily as unique as Boy Smells candles tend to be. Something about this reminds me a lot of Lys by Le Labo. Not my style but very pleasant!

I tried this as part of a sampler set, and it’s one I won’t be buying. It’s a very green, fruity and floral scent - lots of fig and jasmine for me. It lasts an ok length - about 3 hours before disappearing. The initial reaction I had was, “This smells like Pulp”, the perfume by Byredo, which I sold because I didn’t enjoy it at all. It has the same earthy/fruity DNA that I don’t love. I’m sure there will be loads of people who love this though.

this one opens fruity but green. fig is the frontrunner here for me. it's a green, woody fig fragrance, but i am not getting much of the resins or jasmine here. something in here smells rubbery, as well as burnt and the pomelo turns to hairspray on me. this one is not working with my skin unfortunately.

Oh gosh I truly adored the opening of this one. I could really detect the various notes... and then to my dismay the jasmine came in incredibly strong and wiped them all out. Too much jasmine for my taste, though I am sensitive to it.

Gives me Bath and Body Works vibes. (In this case, not a compliment.) This seems drastically different in sophistication than the others in the collection. It is a pass for me.

Least favorite of the line. Smells heavy of pomelo and very animalistic. Kind of smells like after sex and flower blooms in spring. Not my cup of tea.

At first it had a strong scent of cannabis (think bad boy le parfum), after 10 minutes it mellows out to something more fruity thankfully, I think it's mostly a pomelo/ivy/olibanum mix on my skin. Probably because of my brain relating this to the bad boy parfum, this feels more masculine to me. I'm mildly concerned because I don't relate to the other reviews of this at all, like is my sample just bad!? Ha Let me say I love this brand's candles but after a few samples I can say I don't enjoy them as a perfume company for my own tastes.

This is a very well-blended scent that to me is difficult to pick individual notes from. I’m not often a huge fan of white floral-dominant scents, but there’s a sharp, crisp quality to these florals (I suspect provided by the pomelo, which is more of the rind of the fruit than the flesh) that keeps them from smelling especially feminine to my nose. I like it a lot. I bought a discovery set from the brand, and this was the one I couldn’t stop coming back to, and eventually bought a travel-sized tube of. As of writing, this scent is half-off on Boy Smells’ website, so I suspect it will be discontinued soon. I’m debating buying a full bottle (honestly, the hideous cap on the full-size bottle makes it difficult for me—why does this thing need to look like a Beefeater?). I’ve had several friends and family smell this, too, and all have enjoyed it, with the exception of my younger brother, who said it “smells like a wet wipe”. Unfortunately, I do kind of smell that now. It’s not one from a big plastic canister, but one of the kind they might give you in an individual little foil packet on a plane or at a restaurant. Not a bad association by any means, but one that perhaps keeps this from being a blind buy. 7/10

My sister got me this for Christmas and I am OBSESSED. The bottle/cap are very unique (and probably polarizing to some people), and I like that the box it comes in actually lists what notes are in it. The smell is absolutely incredible, it's so fresh and clean and makes you want to keep smelling it over and over again. When I'm wearing it I'm constantly smelling my wrists, and when I smell it in the bottle I have to smell it like 10 times before I put it back away. This is going to definitely be a go-to office/ every day scent, but I can also see myself wearing this to nicer events/ dates! And the price is also so great for the quality of it

When I first smelled this it was the most amazing fresh fruity floral. I definitely got the greenness from the ivy and fig leaf as well. Fruity but not cloying. Now when I wear it all I can smell is a vaguely cucumber (?) hand soap— think Soft Soap in a dental office restroom. I've always gotten a bit of a plastic-y synthetic note as well which doesn't ruin it and actually enhances it for me. Slutty; youthful; carefree. Ultimately, I can only reach for it on occasion because it can give me a headache.

Beautiful zesty pomelo right from the start. This is such an uplifting and classy fragrance. Very clean, slightly sweet citrus. For me it lies within the same realm as Jadore by Dior. Certainly feminine leaning. This would make a great signature every day fragrance. Really impressed by this one. In terms of season, this would suit the Spring and Summer really well. I can imagine wearing it to a wedding.

On me this one is juicy pomelo dripped in honey that drydowns to slightly nutty musk. I do not really get any floral. And to throw in a little weirdness, there is a nylon/plastic smell overlaying the whole composition. I call this a fruity fragrance with quirk. Last quite a long time in compare to fragrances in the same genre too.

This smells like the color chartreuse green. Pure spring in a bottle. Unisex leaning slightly feminine. If I knew this was discontinued I wouldn’t have ordered a sample, because I’m afraid of falling in love with a perfume I can never have. Unfortunately that’s what happened. 9.7/10.

The quality just isn’t there. Smells like something from Victoria’s Secret. That said, it’s not a bad smell. It’s a pleasant, pretty, everyday type scent. But if you’re used to high quality perfumes, this will smell synthetic and cheap.

I didn’t realize this would be such a white floral bomb , the citrus in the beginning is sour and juicy, wow , but essentially it’s just another white floral perfume. I do enjoy the tartness of it in the beginning

Very nice and lemony sweet, lightly floral at first. Then it dries down into a gummy candy juicy scent and after a while begins to smell sour. Good for that mid-time. Smells incredible on clothing.
