Violet Ends

TL;DR I want to drown in Violet Ends while i f*ck the giant cap. Ahem. Here comes a long review! I love the "genderful" branding of Boy Smells and yearn for the old bottles from the before times. The Sephora baby bottles are cheap looking crap, and it's shocking to me they went in a very reduced, simplified, pastel direction. As I read reviews of various Boy Smells new and old, I felt it best to find one with notes that I enjoy, in one of the notorious full-sized black-topped bottles which I ADORE. Aesthetically, I love things that are categorically old, kitschy, and polarizing. I landed on Violet Ends in the old bottle and formula. Smells exactly like a gay bonfire. My lesbian boyfriend and I are obsessed with this perfume. He said a couple of things. One, to throw out all my other perfumes because this one is perfect, it's the alpha and omega of fragrance to him now. And two, that the bottle is ugly. But he hasn't seen the new Boy Smells bottles. Take it with a grain of 🧂 or just accept that you like an ugly perfume bottle like the rest 🍾 I may take a little trip to sample some of the ugly nipple new formulations, send my lesbian boyfriend some photographs saying "should I get this one [insert ugliest one here]?" I only like Woodphoria and Hinoki Phantôme as they are somewhat like the old bottle with the pink juice and dark caps...I just wish the almost-black nipples were actually BLACK!!!! Ugh. And this is all assuming my ocular nerve can handle the harsh fluorescent lights and contrasting black plastic display shelves at Sephora. We shall see if that day ever comes. Either way, there may be a couple more full sizes of Violet Ends on Bloomingdales website, in the discontinued bottle. Others may exist on eBay. Go forth and perfume over consume like a good f*ggot. You're welcome!! <33 ✨ In case anyone cares to read about the ACTUAL scent: it's a gay bonfire in a bottle. Sweetly smoky with that addictive tart rhubarb. Powdery and silky like a stranger's clean button down in a dimly lit lounge, or a fresh bar of soap drying on a hotel vanity. Festive, demure, marries beautifully with your skin's natural sweaty animalics. Perfect for cold weather. 💕 Layering recs: You can brighten and lighten Violet Ends up with Mugler's Aura, if that's in your wheelhouse. The added white florals makes a pineapple note splash out where there was not one, and the papery smokiness of Violet Ends mellows out the fruity sometimes sickly sourness of Aura significantly. They both share the lovely green rhubarb note but it's a scent chiaroscuro with all the other contrasting notes, plus at least on my skin the longevity of Violet Ends makes Aura pale in comparison (in a good way; Muglers on their own usually make me wanna die.) Similarly, Violet Ends partners well with Mugler's Alien, too, bringing out a fascinating licorice/anise accord and mellowing out Alien's often nauseatingly sharp spicy sweetness. You can even layer all three to get an absolutely demonic strawberry accord. I usually HATE strawberry perfume notes but this is like the watery, green leaf of the strawberry. It's f*cking awesome. Have fun and stay smelly 🌈

I hope to switch-out my ordinary, go-to, everyday fragrances of oud, cedar, amber, patchouli, resins, vanilla etc. with a perfume that is more feminine and definitely floral. I want to do so with a beautiful violet-centric fragrance. So, I ordered a violet focused EdP sampler pack and Violet Ends by Boy Smells was amongst the offerings. Violet Ends is a young, hip, totally unisex, new & fun fragrance that wears very well. I cannot imagine VE ever having mainstream appeal but nonetheless, this perfume is nice! This fragrance is simple to discover and understand because it has straight-forward performance. What is listed as notes is exactly what you get. Opening: VE opens with strong but not screechy violet notes. This is the entire violet with petals, stems, green & dirt. A bit of rhubarb gives it freshness and pink pepper gives it a nice spice. But VE opens as a violet-centric perfume. Middle: As the fragrance develops, this is where things get interesting. Within approximately 1-2 minutes, VE presents with pleasant, friendly, ashtray-type smoky, or tobacco notes. The tobacco note along with olibanum & a smudge of tea, cloak the violet opening, thus moving the fragrance into a very unique direction. Surprisingly, this smoky note pleasantly morphs (albeit clumsily...not what I'd consider seamlessly) with the previously presented violet notes and all of it somehow works. The introduction of tobacco and tea prevent the violet notes from becoming sappy, or honeyed in any way. The smoky, or tobacco note is not the nasty stale, or "dirty ashtray scent" one might recall with many tobacco notes. This ashy note introduces a unique dimension and some contemporary fun to what could otherwise be another ordinary green violet fragrance. Drydown: Within 30 minutes, distinct end notes of leather and a smear of wood emerge. This is where it all lands. Tobacco & violet notes continually rise, along with leather and wood. All of this makes Violet Ends an overall unique perfume experience. And even though VE contains what I would consider darker, or dirtier notes, this perfume never becomes vulgar, or crude. Longevity is good at 4+ hours during which I still detect violet, ash, tobacco and leather. Silage is initially moderate but moves into a skin experience within 30-45 minutes. Totally unisex, IMHO. Violet Ends evokes images of an artsy, happy (not brooding), pony-tail wearing, smart, art-school girl, sporting Doc Martens, jeans, a hip draped blouse...oh, and of course the requisite black leather jacket, heading out to a nighttime class, or a club...naturally she hopes to meet some sweet, sexy cute boy. Overall, this is a pretty "cool" scent.

Oh, Jerome Epinette. I don't know how you do it, but you keep making these great unisex fragrances that I always need a full bottle of. Going from the other reviews, Violet Ends is a pretty divisive; you'll either love it or hate it. But I can understand why. It's different, very distinctive, and not afraid of being a bit intense. Someone called it "not for the faint of heart," and I agree with that assessment. Violet Ends is my favorite scent from Boy Smells' core perfume collection, and it's one of my favorite fragrances, full stop. Like Tantrum, it's a bit abrasive at first; the black pepper, rhubarb and bergamot dominate for the first minute or so after you first apply it, making for one of the tartest openings I've ever smelled. But as the dry down begins, the tanned leather and tobacco bring some balancing earthiness to the scent, and the more shy, subtle notes of black tea, smoked papyrus and birch come through as it mellows even more. The sharp notes from the opening linger throughout each of Violet Ends' phases, but they lose a lot of their bite. Still, they are noticeably present even near the close of the fragrance. For those who dislike any acidity in their fragrances, this will be a turn-off, but personally I enjoy it. Funnily enough, or perhaps not at all considering the name, I find that the violets don't show up until the end, when the stronger notes have worn themselves out a bit. The iris I can't smell at all, though this is a note I have trouble finding in other scents, too, so that's probably just my nose. At the very end of its life cycle, Violet Ends is a papery, leathery skin scent with just enough floral sweetness to take the edge off the rhubarb that might otherwise sting a bit. And that last stage lingers - once the dry-down is complete, Violet Ends' final form sticks around for over twelve hours, at least on my skin. Whatever your opinion of this fragrance is, you can't deny its fascinating harmony - ferocity and gentleness.

This fragrance took me by surprise bc at first, on the test strip, I didn't like it at all. Now, it's the "wildcard" and a favorite within my collection which consists mostly of sweet, gourmand, floral, and musk. I like that it opened me up to notes I typically despise - tobacco and leather. The violet and rhubarb gives it a feminine vibe and opening, then the smokiness from the tobacco makes a quick (overpowering) special guest appearance. And then lastly, the faint rhubarb, and leather harmoniously blends into a sweetart, earthy, leathery scent. Violet Ends taught me that "complex" fragrances aren't always about depth, it can be the juxtaposition of notes within a linear scent. The person I envision wearing this marches to the beat of their own drum. They're edgy and confident. They probably enjoy art, music, and niche markets. I could see it being someone who likes moody aesthetic/vibes, smokes, or maybe even enjoys a sweet Mezcal cocktail at a speakeasy. If it's a female wearing this, she might have a slight tomboy side to her, but still values femininity and sensuality. If it's a male wearing this, I think he carries a bit of feminine energy bc of the sweet elements in this scent. I'm probably going to get crucified for this, but this is like an edgier cousin of scents in line with Le Labo Santal 33. This is 100000% not a safe blind buy and if you really want to give this scent a proper chance, take the risk spraying it on your skin within a span of a week knowing you might HATE it. It's a weird scent you either hate, love, or grow to love. I love this fragrance and I have a full bottle. It's unique and I get compliments on this from both men and women especially when I'm around a more niche artsy crowd.

This is a fascinating scent. The first time I smelled it I think I hated it. Like all of Boy Smell's scents that I've tried, it comes on very strong; the smokiness and rhubarb here are nearly overpowering when you first apply it. Once it sits on the skin for a bit, though, it really starts to open up. You still get those warm, smoky notes, but over time the violet comes to the fore and you start to pick up these wildly contradictory floral notes. The birch sits just below the surface while all of this is going on, subtly tying it all together. I grew up in a rural area, surrounded by miles and miles of forest, and this scent brings back details I thought I'd forgotten; think of a smoldering bonfire or the last dull embers of a grill, hastily abandoned just before a firecracker of a summer storm tears through the area, carrying with it bright streaks of wildflowers caught on the wind. It's genuinely one of the most unique scents I've encountered, and there's nearly endless depth to it. My only complaints would be that it's not especially long-lasting, and it's such an arresting fragrance that it's not really suited to everyday use.

Right out of the bottle, Violet Ends is rough and not in a good way. On my skin, I get a very medicinal leather and tobacco. It could be the papyrus though, which can be tricky on me. Sometimes it works for me, other times it doesn't. But after patiently waiting for a few, this goes from rough to...rough n' sexy after the rhubarb and violet appear. I love that soft floral against the rugged leather, tobacco, and woods. This is warm and smoky, but still reminds me of a cool desert night. This lands on just the right side of intimidating...this smells like someone you want to go up and talk to, but you fear they might be just a little too cool for school. This has a mysterious/brooding vibe, yet there is still something inviting about it. I sampled all the Boy Smells scents when they launched and Violet Ends was my favorite, although I was pretty impressed with all of them. I found this one the most unique and exciting. They have launched a couple more since then and I just ordered the Hinoke Fantome scent...can't wait for it to arrive. On a side note, I love their bottles...those caps are the best.

In love with this scent. For me, it opens super floral; I get a huge rush of the violet and iris. It's pretty sweet, but in a natural and floral way and not a sugar/syrupy way; as it dries down, it starts to reveal itself as much smokier, heavier, and more incense-y. It's a night and day difference between the initial smell and how it radiates 4 hours later. I love how smoothly it transitions from something floral and comforting and approachable to something darker, more mysterious, more walking the city at night on a date. I think the smoky dry-down is sooooo sexy. It's a light smoke, and very approachable, nothing like bonfire smoke or cigarette smoke. Also, the longevity of this is crazy, especially on clothes. When I spray it on clothes, I can still smell it days after. I honestly don't think this scent is very polarizing unlike other reviews. I've found that everyone I wear it around really likes it, and I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. The sillage on this is really good in warmer weather, but I've noticed it doesn't project as much in colder weather.

This has captured my attention, I absolutely love it. Its difficult to explain because yes, it is a smoky leather fragrance but its light and very wearable. I mainly get the leather, birch and papyrus, the other notes you can't really singularly pick out in the dry down, they are more so blended together to create a fresh mirage in the background to balance the smoky leather notes that are the star of the show. The female wearing this rolls her eyes at the girls who follow the social gender norms, she is rebelious at heart and likes to live her life freely doing as she pleases rather than what people expect or want her to do. She is truly naturally unique and different, very cool but not making a show out of it, its just who she is, she has always clicked a bit differently than others and people find her intoxicating to be around. Although I think this wont be for everyone, it will also be everything someome has been looking for and more

Definitely one of my new favorites! I love the witchy vibe of this perfume. The opening is pretty sharp and peppery, the rhubarb is very noticeable. It dries down to a very woody, leathery, papery, slightly fruity/green scent. Its very unisex but maybe a little bit more masculine. I wish I got just a little more of that incense note and maybe a touch more floral but other than that I really love this perfume!Update: now that the perfume has completely dried down I must note that it does have a bit of a sharp, green alchoholic/chemically quality to it... just something to keep in mind!

I love the floral freshness of this smoky scent. The smoked papyrus is definitely the first thing you notice, along with the rhubarb and violet. The marketing had a lot of stormy imagery, and I totally get that vibe when I smell it—there’s some sort of “after the rain” effect. If the idea of a unisex smoky fragrance without much sweetness or warm spiciness appeals to you, you might enjoy this a lot. To me it’s a bit edgy and sexy, but not at all overpowering. I’m definitely going to wear it for casual nights out in the summer.

would recommend this any lover of leather fragrances. real strong and intriguing scent that might lean a little bit more feminine, but i could easily see some guys wearing and rocking this. if you're younger than 27-30 maybe look into this 1 before ombre leather. i would love to smell this on someone else as this projects like a monster off 1 and half sprays from the sample i have. it's only gotten better every time i spray it on myself too!

One of my "don't talk to me" fragrances. Best for running errands on brisk rainy days. I probably wouldn't get a FB but I might get a decant when I run out of the spray sampler. I feel like I would be really into this on another person. On me, it doesn't overwhelm me, it's not wearing me, but it's not something that feels inherent and familiar to me either, the way some perfumes do.

Beautiful violet leaf leather and tea fragrance. I also get cedar because smelling this triggered an intense scent memory of one of the very first real fragrances I wore...the long-discontinued L'Occitane Notre Flore Cedar. I am not sure about the perfumer for that fragrance, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was also Jerome Epinette.

I have not be obsessed with a scent in a long time, but this changed that. It envelops you in its complexity. The fruitiness combined with black pepper and tobacco are stunning. It starts out nice, but turns into an intoxicating scent that has lasted 24 hours. Amazing!

I don’t really like violet, but I ADORE this. That’s probably because I don’t really detect any violet in this. For me, the main notes are rhubarb, tobacco and leather. It has the presence and power I wish Hermes Rhubarbe Ecarlate had.

This is a gloriously smoky leather ashtray of a fragrance. The longer I have it, the smokier it gets. It’s been 3 years I’ve had it open and I don’t get many of the florals now. It’s delicious.

I love this. A peppery, smoky, woody fragrance with a beautiful violet note (which is not overpowering by any means). It's like nothing else I own. Perfect for cool spring and autumn days.

Imagine sitting in a leather reading chair in a meadow full of violets in full bloom reading an old book and smoking a pipe. That’s what this smells like.

Smells amazing. A bright crisp and slightly dewy violet, and a brand new leather jacket with a tart dose of rhubarb lined in its pockets. Really special!

I bought this at the same time as Suede Pony, not expecting this to be a strong a leather scent as well. Like, I knew leather was in it, but this is a smoky LEATHER scent. The description was "sumptuous amounts of smoky papyrus, divine incense, and white birch are wrapped in raw tobacco leaves with a flourishing heart of violet and rhubarb growing within." I expected a smoky violet with rhubarb, and this is not that. Luckily, I like leather scents and this is a good one. On first blast it's all leather, pepper, and smoke. As it develops, though, the fruit and floral heart unfolds and the scent becomes more intriguing. I find, paradoxically, that I can only appreciate Violet Ends when I smell it all at once and don't try to pick apart the notes. Holistically, this smell is a joyful, genderless smoke -- with tart rhubarb and powdery violets burning like an offering to the gods on a leather hide. It's complex and almost magical. But when I put my nose up against my arm, like trying to look at a painting up close, it stops making sense. The leather is too strong, the smoke overpowering. It blends at an arm's length into a pastel violet, witchy bonfire in a thunderstorm. I got this at a huge discount on fleabay and I have no regrets. But I'm not sure I would buy it for £100+. I feel like I would enjoy it more if the violet and rhubarb where turned up and the leather and smoke turned down, even just a little -- because I like this note combination but the dominance of leather and smoke is bordering on headache territory. Still, this is a quality perfume. The rhubarb and violet make the leather and smoke delectable, and I might pair it with my frilliest dress to give the femme a bit of an edge. ps. the scent I wanted this to be - smoky violet with a bit of tart fruit - I found in Saltworks' "Purple Haze", which is violet, patchouli, and palisander wood, with a touch of tart raspberry and the lightest touch of suede. I am keeping Violet Ends, but I'm putting it to the back of my perfume cupboard as Purple Haze gives me all the violet oriental goodness I wanted with the leather notes present but firmly in check.

Initially, I get a potent nosefull of smoky leather and not much else. Kind of offputting. After a few minutes, the smoke and leather calm down enough for a very green scent to come through, probably the rhubarb and bergamot. It's sweet but not immature sweet, more fresh sweet. The birch starts to come through a little bit at this point, as well. Leather and smoke still present but as supporting actors instead of the main show. Dries down to a skin scent fairly quickly, though it lasts for hours as such. As a skin scent, I smell a lot of powerdery violet, iris, and birch. It's edgy. When I imagine who would wear this, I think of a feminine person in a 90s knee length dark floral dress with a leather biker jacket, fishnets, and a pair of combat boots. Definitely grungy (but in a good way) and maybe a little intimidating, but soft on the inside. Think PJ Harvey or Kim Deal.

This literally smells like a violet if it was wearing a leather jacket and smoking a cigarette. The rhubarb comes out more in the dry down but doesn’t take away from the edginess of the scent. I don’t get the The Noir 29 comparisons, like yeah there’s tobacco and bergamot in both but that’s the only parallel I can draw. Violet Ends is way more spicy and green. There’s something about it that reminds me of tea tree oil—not in the hippie essential oil way, but how melaleuca has that stringent quality that makes you feel like you have a Q-tip up your nose. This is a very sharp and striking fragrance, and it has high sillage, so it’s good for getting noticed. It leans a little more masculine in my opinion but anyone could wear it if they were going out to a bar or something. It’s definitely a night fragrance and it lasts about 4 hours.

Reading the other reviews I am coming more and more to terms with the fact that I simply do not know what leather smells like nor am I able to smell it in perfumes, despite it being a prominent note in a lot of my all time favorite fragrances. I do not get leather from this perfume- I'm not sure I can really identify any notes in it at all besides pepper. It smells like something peppery and wet in a way that's beautiful but tugs at something in my throat. This is the type of fragrance that would drive me absolutely crazy on someone else, but on me, the jury's still out. That being said, I absolutely adore the drydown. I'm wearing it right now layered with Cherry Punk by Room 1015 (another leather heavy favorite of mine that I can't smell the leather in) and the result is quite enjoyable and gothic feeling.

I really like Boy smells perfumes and I blind bought 3 of them Violet ends, Marble fruit and Rose load and I like all them! I wanted something different and this perfume is so unique! Now I want to collect the entire Boy smells range! It smells of sweet tobacco, leather, violets and slight citrus from rhubarb and bergamot and spicy black pepper. I can smell all the different ingredients that make up the perfume. I would love to smell this on my man as it’s so intoxicating. I don’t know how they managed to pull it off as tobacco and leather is not a pleasant smell and I dislike it but it’s so perfectly blended together that I can’t stop sniffing it on my arm! I don’t think it’s suitable for women as it smells incredibly masculine, what a real man should smell like! It’s such a sexy scent!

This smells like straight up cigarettes, in an ashtray way and not a nice dry tobacco way. It fades into slightly sweeter dirty smoke in the dry down; a friend smelled the dry down and liked it so I offered to spray her and she almost gagged at the cigarette blast. Hate at first sniff. But.... I threw my sample in my bag on a whim when heading to a music festival, and amid the heat and sweat and smells and real cigarette smoke of the festival, it bloomed into something addictive and naughty and perfect. I now have such a strong positive scent memory of this I want to buy it, even if I’ll only wear it to raves and dark smoky bars.

I got a nice whiff of a friend as he walked by, gave me the remainder of the bottle, a tiny splash. I got my own bottle right away as I really love this fragrance. It's a dark and warm leathery, dried up winter violet, sweet tobacco on my skin. My bottle has been open a year now and I have the older formulation with the giant cap. This is definitely an afternoon in bed with fluffy duvet and pouring rain outside. Which is happening right now. I do not get any cigarette or ashtray as I despise both.

After 15-30 minutes on my wrist I started detecting Dear Polly, which I own and love, and when I got home and I realized Violet Ends is Jerome Epinette too! Both share fruit (rhubarb here, apple in DP)+ bergamot + tea. But for me personally Dear Polly is so much nicer overall. I love Violet but the incense note feels out of place to me here. Also going off Boy Smells website I think there’s a typo in the notes above. Fragrantica lists Iris in the mid. It should be Orris 😊

Leather is definitely not overwhelming nor is this is at all smoky. Im getting mostly watery violet, the faintest hint of leather, and some sweet tobacco. It does intensify to mostly leather at the end. The rubharb is almost as prominent as the violet. This is nice and I like the composition, but it’s very light. I prefer something like Violet Vylanka to this for a violet leather

A spicy, smoky, leather scent that I found to be the most appealing out of the Boy Smells line. A grungy fragrance with a solid wear time that I keep coming back to for nights out. As a fan of androgynous fragrances this pulled unisex to slightly more masculine to me.

when i first spray this onto my skin, it opens with a lovely violet... which lasts about 30 seconds. then it's all leather, tobacco and birch. but to be honest, i actually like it. it's not something i'd usually wear but i find it strangely comforting.

One of the better offerings on this list. I liked it, but probably not enough to own a full bottle. I will try it again In a week and see what I think then.

it's unique and sexy. the smokiness is very apparent. the floral notes are underneath. it's started to give me a headache lately though.

i love violet but this didn’t move me as much as i thought it would to be honest it was a nice powdery floral but that’s all

Violet Ends: You're sitting around a bonfire with your outcast friends, and a couple violets you picked from earlier are stuffed into the front pocket of your grungy leather jacket, wilted, but saved for your crush who will be joining you soon for a night of casual mischief. The smell of pine is wafting through on a cool breeze, and everything feels alright. I like Violet Ends, although not by much. I was hoping for some extra goth violet, but it quickly gets engulfed by smoky leather. I don't have a problem with smoke or leather, I simply didn't want my violet to disappear, lol. First spray comes off strong, but it settles into average projection, so Violet Ends is not as daunting as it may sound. Since it's so linear, this will actually make a great layering scent for vamping up the more subtle fragrances in my collection. There is just a subtle hint of citrus, but it gets lost in the stronger notes. Oh, the birch is also very prominent and giving me basic drug-store cologne in the dry-down, which I'm definitely not too keen on. Because of this underlying woodiness, it pulls masculine.

First blast of warm soft fruity leather underneath a nostril-burning screechy green alcohol. After a while, though still sharply green and alcoholic, a warm nutty wood starts to step forward and turn musky. Looking through the notes and it feels they went overboard on the acids.. rhubarb and bergamot together makes it too bright and sour for my tastes. The leathery woods are interesting though, not going too strong in either direction while that nutty almost-vetiver tone is always there. The drydown is infinitely better than the opening. Masculine and best for cool weather.

Opening is like having cigarettes blown in your face; mellows out after several hours to leather with a bit of violet and pepper. I started out hating this one and then it gradually grew on me. It's more complex than I gave it credit for, and the unlikely violet-tobacco combination works more than you'd expect it to, taking it into an interesting kind of harsh and sweet androgynous territory. It's still a very heavy and controversial scent though. I would maybe wear it to a nightclub or similar but it's not one I'll be reaching for often.

I was expecting a violet leather experience; this was mostly leather. In a way it reminds me of Victoria's Secret Tease Rebel, where the notes promise way more of a scent experience than delivered. While that one lay more into a soft floral, this leans into a soft leather. Both are decent, but I can't help thinking they should learn from each other. Could be cute for a couple who wants to match but have different noses. I should probably retry smelling when my nose hasn't tried way stronger scents beforehand.

Goes very much like an old time hand soap or men’s deodorant on my skin after about an hour. I’m happy I just got a 10ml. There is vertically no projection after 30 minutes unless you get your nose right up on your skin. Sort of like, you stayed over but you didn’t mean to so you used his deo but you regret last night so the memory is haunting your armpits.

I always wanted a Chesterfield club chair and this fragrance is it! Too masculine for me but there’s something else, too. Someone noted there’s a naughtiness to this. I agree, like wearing your new boyfriend’s t-shirt to bed back when people smoked cigarettes but without the ashtray-by-the-bed funkiness. Probably yummy on a dude, just not my violet scent.

I find with Boy Smells scents, I only get the base notes for the first few hours (I feel like its usually the opposite for most scents). Maybe it’s just my skin chemistry, but I only get leather from this one. There is a very slight sweetness from the rhubarb, but the leather is overwhelming. Definitely a cold weather scent.

I love how this opens; the violet is beautiful and fresh. However as it wears I don’t like this fragrance on my skin. I don’t know if it’s the leather (I do love leather ordinarily) or papyrus but I don’t like it at all. I suppose Apree L’onde will remain my favorite Violet.

I expected to, and really wanted to, love this as the first few seconds of violet are beautiful. Unfortunately, this goes so peppery on me almost immediately and on my skin, overpowers the other notes. Very disappointed that the violet fades so quickly on me.

The tobacco & leather dominate this to me, with a very faint floral underneath. It reminds me of how your hair smells after sitting by a bonfire. It isn’t that it smells bad, I just wouldn’t use it as a fragrance.

Amouage's Beach Hut Woman threw on a biker jacket, moved to the woods, and took up smoking. Leather and tobacco take up a lot of space in Violet Ends, but a mournful bergamot dominates it. I liked it when I first put it on, because there are interesting contradictions to how it smells. There's some lightness, but it's also so brooding. It's clean and a bit funky, both warm and ice cold. But the longer I sat with Violet Ends, the more it made me sad, and I couldn't figure out why. Once I clocked its similarities to Beach Hut Woman, my change in mood made perfect sense. My memories of that perfume are just a little too sad for me to enjoy Violet Ends. I'm bummed I can't pick up the violet or rhubarb, because that list of notes is fascinating, but c'est la vie. I can understand someone falling in love with this, but I don't think it's for me.

In the store, on the tester, it was a mildly sweet masculine scent. Bought it, applied to skin, and it became a cigarette. It and my body chemistry do NOT get along. It was nothing but cigarette AND it was tough to wash off, which is such a shame because I struggle to find fragrances that have staying power on my skin. I'm keeping it because I like having the reference for sweet tobacco scents. But I'm never gonna wear it. Ever. Don't be me. Test on your skin before you buy, and do it at home in case your body turns into an ashtray and you need soap and water STAT

Okay maybe this was my bad, I was expecting a violet-forward fragrance. Really didn’t get violet at all? Big punch of black pepper right away (sneezed) and then some synthetic smoke like what they add to meats. Just pepper and smoke the whole time. Maybe if there was more to it or it was layered with something it would have potential. Idk just not my style

I really wanted to love this fragrance, it opens well. But the dry down. Oh the dry down! I was going to try to be clever but it's better to put it right out there: it smells like pee.

more of a male's fragrance. this must be the GREENEST fragrance I have ever smelled smells kind of like a cleaning product , with avocado oil , but very intriguing

I liked this when I got it when it first launched but now I hate it on me. I’m selling my full bottle.
