Woodphoria

I managed to snag a 2.2oz of the original on eBay! $70! There is hope yet for the devotees, and I am almost one, I think. I'm not drooling over it or causing car accidents, and yet when I can't decide what to wear I tend to reach for this one. I smell each of those notes, and truly, fig and sandalwood and coconut water belong together, they are light, fresh, but not tropical or fruity or like sunscreen. The fig reads little dusty, like how young conifer bark (this doesn't smell like one, just an analogy) leaves a vaguely sticky, talc-y, dusty ghost of the tree on your palms if you grab onto it. The sandalwood complements and enhances that sensation. The coconut water keeps it washed all fresh and tidy, I don't think I would enjoy this as much without it. I'm looking forward to trying Imaginary Authors Yesterday Haze, it looks like it has similar notes. EDIT: FUCK THAT HEAVY ASS BOTTLE CAP, IT OVERBALANCED, FELL OUT OF THE BOX, AND CRACKED OFF! ALL GONE! I WANT TO CRY!

I really like this. It is heavy on the wood. The wood comes across leathery/smoky to my nose, similar to the woody note in By the Fireplace. This one to me is so smoky that it almost comes across animalic. The smoke is well cushioned though, with creamy musk and milky jasmine. I also get a hint of a nutty spice like cardamom, or something else bright and peppery in nature. It's also just a touch sweet. Just enough. I enjoy this. It's right up my alley as an earthy girl who doesn't always want to smell "fruity floral" sweet, pretty, crowd-pleasing. I STRONGLY DISLIKE people...and have no desire to appease them with my fragrance, lol Damn you AND your Delina! (J/K I actually love Delina). Seriously though, I really appreciate a more ambitious fragrance offering that has the nerve to play off the road, and even more, I appreciate the people who dare to wear them. MUCH enjoyed by me. I don't really much care what anyone else thinks. :)

woodphoria reminds me a lot of whispers in the library it’s definitely a bibliomia scent. the coconut note is what scares me a bit but it doesnt smell tropical at all; the coconut really blends out the notes whilst adding a creaminess. It just blends so well. it’s definitely an androgynous skin scent though something you shouldn't blind buy. People say that it smells like old books like it’s a bad thing? It really gets a papery smell to it, like a cozy bookstore/library. It is really an autumn scent. I do believe that the projection and longevity is extremely poor which is another reason you shouldnt blind buy. I believe that it could layer well with a warm vanilla with tea or coffee which would really bring out the academic vibe it overall gives [edit] i did end up returning the full size as it’s extremely light and doesn’t last also the atomizer is not the best <3 def worth the travel size

I've never been too big of a fan of woody notes in my perfumes, mostly because i consider them to be too overpoweringly masculine... Woodphoria made me reconsider my relationship with these notes. it has such a strong woody base, but with a sweet and powdery heart. it feels like a perfect encapsulation of queerness, which is what the brand specializes in. it has the strength and masculinity of sandalwood and suede, while keeping a lightness, tenderness and femininity with the jasmine and lily. it's truly beautiful. formal, but with a twist. lighthearted but romantic. never too serious, never too aloof. it is quite musky as well, it feels sensual, never full-on sexual. a teasing fragrance for sure. it wears very well too, the dry-down remains pretty faithful to the first application, and it lasts the entire day. perfect! so far, my favorite from Boy Smells.

I smelled this in Sephora and decided to buy it without really giving it a good test run. Luckily I really enjoy it - there’s a lot of things at play here even though the notes are pretty simple. First spray hits you with a warm, creamy coconut with a background of smoky cedar and sandalwood. This is my favorite stage of the fragrance when it’s fresh and just sprayed. The dry down is comforting fig mingled with jasmine and lily of the valley according to BS website. White flowers and I have never gotten along, but I can settle for them in Woodphoria since they do really well against the woody/smoky background. It’s an interesting scent and does invoke a kind of ancient wood in the sparkling sunlight. Warm, comforting, creamy, a little resinous, a tiny bit floral. 8/10

I personally don't love Boy Smell's marketing for reasons that are vague and unimportant, but I do really love how this smells. My mom gave me a test vial of it quite a while ago. At the time, I didn't care about perfume or fragrances or anything like that, so only recently did I really give it a try and find out that I really like it. It's one of the few fragrances I've smelled where the sweetness wasn't cloying, but rather is just a pleasant note that adds an almost creamy element to the fragrance. It personally makes me think of teddy bears (not how they smell, but the general vibes) which is very high praise coming from me.

This is tough to describe but I really enjoy it . It’s very lite though, not nearly strong enough, it does smell like wood at first , kind of reminds me of the hinoki one by skylar . But there is also something green and comforting in it , I think I can pick up the fig leaves , a tiny touch of rich smoked wood but also something warm that slightly reminds me of the regular Burberry , this is a beautiful scent that changes while it goes from first spray to dry down . Love it , just wish it was a lot stronger

I love this! It’s dry and woody yet lightly sweet. Comforting, reminds me of being in a very clean log cabin or a sauna. decently long lasting, like 6-8 hours. Coconut makes it wearable and lovely in the summer but I adore it in colder weather too. One of my favs in my collection without a doubt. Conjures up happy memories of being in a cabin on the lake. Will also note that sandalwood usually smells pickley to me and with this I get zero pickle thank god!

The top one from my Boy Smells sample set. It’s woodsy and slightly smoky, airy and powdery. I think wood notes tend to lean masculine but this balances out and feels like a feminine option, probably due to being powdery wood as opposed to spicy wood. I think it’s a little stuffy smelling for warm weather and my California autumn isn’t quite cold enough so I’ll be waiting a bit before using it more.

I smelled this today at Sephora, and even the notes are simple and familiar, I was pleasantly surprised by how unique and fantastic this smelled. It's unisex woods, clean, powder but somewhat mysterious hint of something. I didn't smell coconut and was surprised to see it. I would have bought a travel size, but it was sold out :/

I've been wearing this for about a couple of weeks at work and have been getting good feed back from coworkers/ customers (I'm in car sales) I don't think its too in your face either. Does remind me of Bitter Peach by TF. I'm new to reviewing fragrances but hope this helps in anyway =)

I’ve been loving woody fragrances for the fall .. got Santal 33 but this was has all of my favorite notes Sandalwood, fig and coconut ..so now I can enjoy coconut in the cooler months as well .. love this not too sweet warm and cozy perfume!!

Adore this fragrance. I got the discovery set and full sized this the next day. Very woodsy, not sweet or creamy like you'd expect from fig and coconut notes. It's light and very likable, great for the office.

A unisex < feminine leaning woody fragrance with a bit of sweetness. I agree with one of the other comments that mentioned the Witcher vibes. I could see Jaskier wearing this!

It’s like cozy, dreamy day in a cottage in the forest. I love how it smells on my me and my boyfriend. It’s warm, soft but not powdery with a creaminess to it.

I love this smell. It’s very woody but sticky- resinous like others have said. It’s easier to wear than other Boys Smell I’ve had. Very sexy.

Smells almost the completely the same as Arizona Bloom by Floral Street. Which I also love so I'm not complaining. Just a little smokier.

This reminds me somewhat of Somebody Wood by Phlur (with less sweetness) and Nouvelle Vague (it's that same perfumery coconut, rather than a realistic coconut), with a little bit of evergreen and smoke. The smoke is apparent very up close smelling my wrist, but not really otherwise. There is a certain sense of air freshener when you take a step back from dissecting the notes. It's nice. Not incredible, but something a little more interesting than your typical Sephora fragrance. I think I prefer Somebody Wood, though. That's a simpler profile done well for the price point. This is an attempt at something more complex at a comparable price, though there's something about it that lacks a little life, like there are some pieces missing preventing it from becoming something great. I'd recommend checking it out if you are interested, but I doubt it will become anyone's signature scent. 6.5/10.

This fragrance is my top fragrance discovery of the week (and I've tried 15+ scents). The name caught my attention and I had high expectations. I'm glad that my expectations were met. How does it smell? It's a complex, enchanting and fairly unique fragrance. Well blended. It doesn't remind me of any other fragrance. The fig, coconut, sandalwood combo is smooth and interesting. Cozy in the dry down. Wearable to work and for going out when you want have more sophisticated, cozy vibe. Perfect for autumn. Wearable in summer - picture an outdoor trip to a desert. It's probably my favorite from the brand. Worth trying. I'm getting the travel spray. EDIT: I tested it again and it seemed like a different scent (different tester?). I can see now how some reviewers make the "old musty book" references now. Perhaps it smells better in a warm weather. I'll be testing it more.

Can't believe I'm late to the party! I purchased a travel from TJ Maxx today for $8. It's clear from the packaging that it's pre-reformulation and now I'm super sad. This is a beautiful fragrance. It's very similar to Father figure if it leaned a little bit more feminine. The fig comes through sweet and juicy versus green to my nose. I don't know why companies feel the need to alter fragrances that were perfectly fine before! The notes are incomplete because the packaging says: Coconut Water, Cardamom, Black Pepper, Fig Leaves, Jasmine petals, Lily of the Valley, Suede, Ambroxin, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, and Salted Musk

This is a pleasant, cozy scent. First spritz and smelled farther away, it's a straight hit of sandalwood. Up close, there's some smokiness/incense as someone below mentioned. Even though it is slightly smoky, on the whole it is not cloying and is more fresh/uplifting than many other smoky wood scents. This scent story for me is a fireplace on a cool autumn evening in California with the sound of waves in the background. Not sure if this is full-bottle worthy, but got a sample and really don't hate it. Might be better layered.

I find this scent to be the platonic ideal of a forest. Smells fresh without going too far into cleaning product territory--evokes sunny and bright woods and would fare well in cooler weather, day or night. Slight musky undertone but not too masculine; perfectly unisex in my opinion. As much as this is what I have wanted from a forest-y scent, I wasn't impressed by the performance: it is pretty intimate and only lasted around 6 hours on me.

this has been my summer fragrance for when i really don't want to think too hard about what fragrance i'm wearing that day. it's easy to reach for, and is pleasantly coconut-watery, green, powdery and woody. it's been appropriate for professional and social wear. my skin seems to amp a lot of the fruitier, greener notes - something about it almost comes off chloriney like a pool on me but in a way that i like having on for summer!

Smells like the inside of an old Buddhist temple. Very cedar and sandalwood forward, kind of smoky. It's unique and intense and clean but still interesting. It smells like coconut for about 30 seconds then the coconut pretty much disappears. I don't like coconut scents so I don't mind the dry down but something to keep in mind if you're looking for a coconuty scent.

I find this quite lovely. It comes off very smoky and almost resinous. It reminds me of By the Fireplace but without the sweetness. It also reminds me of Somebody Wood by Phlur. To my nose this is very cedar forward fragrance, I do not get any creaminess from the coconut, musk or sandalwood and I also don’t get any fig at all.

I love the fragrance but I hate the packaging. I love the woody coconut smell. It’s not too feminine which I like a good unisex but I wouldn’t want my husband to wear this so more feminine in my opinion. I wish they would change the packaging. I rate a solid 8/10 on fragrance alone disregarding the terrible ugly packaging

This isn't the type of scent I normally wear, but I've actually been really enjoying it. It's woodsy, warm, and spicy; it almost reminds me of frankincense. It's got a bit of an academic vibe to it. It makes me feel a Cambridge man in the 1910s or something. It's intimate but it lasts a good while!

First spray made me feel like I'm in a fantasy novel!!!!! It's giving The Witcher. It's giving Game of Thrones. It's giving anything Diana Wynne Jones!!! And I'm saying this as a perpetual santal hater. The fig leave notes makes this perfume leans green and mellows out the woodsy note.

I don't smell the coconut at all in this. I just get the sandalwood, cedar, musk. It's more masculine than most other popular sandalwood fragrances. Not bad but also doesn't last very long so I don't think it's worth the price. I hope Boy Smells redesigns their bottles soon btw

Really solid woody scent, sweet and powdery the way wood is. Smells a little like someone is smoking weed or something in the dry down. Edit: I would say it gives me a feeling of sawdust. Working in a woodshop, the smell of something smoky as you push the plank into the blade.

nice wood smell wood with a little woodsmoke makes me want to roast a marshmallow LOVE skin test nice waft of the same nice wood smell. Definitely still getting wood with a hint of smoke. I don't get coconut at all. Love it!

Creamyyyyy. About as much woodyness as I can handle before I feel like a walking campfire. The fruitiness and lightness are lost in the dry down but the sandalwood is still very satisfying and smooth.

A gorgeous, smooth woody scent with the BEST coconut base and an almost cinnamon twist. This is masculine and sexy, with a subtle sweetness that should be appreciated. Mmmmm.

this smells exactly like a christmas tree on me. i’m not mad about it. it’s very comforting and brings me a sense of warmth. love it <3

Stepping out of a wood cabin into a cold forest (my skin really clings onto and amplifies musk so I wasn't expecting this to go that well tbh!) its opens with an Almost sweet aroma that turns into straight melted butter in a pan. not movie theater butter either, like real kinda expensive butter. and it's not sweet at all its on the whisper of a savory side of powdery the way bread could be. no woods. maybe the tiniest hint. but they slowly creep until cedar is the main player. super interesting ride of a scent - like a gourmand fake out. its a gradient from warm cozy candle glow woods to green woods. covers the whole spectrum. so I'd say the name is very apt! Unisex in the sense that is starts more feminine and ends more masculine. Almost androgynous like a single cologne note over a Chanel-esque perfume. I like it! It's very well thought out, and a unique and interesting experience. I'm just not in love with the dry down enough to want to wear this when I could wear more severe wood scents. That's just me personally, and I enjoy smelling like dirt and metal and menthol all sorts of harsh weird things. so I think this would be great for someone branching out into the more woody side of things. I wouldn't blind buy this - I think your biology will really make or break this scent.

I'm in my sandalwood era and have been spraying all kinds of sandalwood fragrances. Santal 33 put me off sandalwood for a long time because I assumed all sandalwood smells like dill pickles, but I have learned that I am wrong and that I actually very much enjoy creamy sandalwood. Now, with all that said, what do I think about this sandalwood? It's okay. I bought a full bottle from Sephora because I liked the way it smelled on paper. I should've tested it on myself, because I'm getting a synthetic cleaning solution base note. It opens sweet and coconutty, which I very much enjoy. The sandalwood is quiet. It's not pickley, but it's not creamy either. This is very much a skin scent, which is a little disappointing. I think I would like it a lot more if it were turned up several more notches. I want to smell like I'm in a cabin in the middle of the forest. But instead, I feel like I smell like carbon paper. Maybe I will wait until full blown summer to see how this fares when everything else is too heavy. The other disappointing part of this scent is the atomizer is awful. I feel like I'm being spit on.

Coconut rind musk with cedar shavings, fig leaves & stems. It’s giving me crayon wrapper vibes. This is like a drier, woodier relative of Floral Street’s Arizona Bloom. They are quite similar, but the cedar in this pulls it further toward unisex territory. Idk how to feel about it. Will have to wear it more to give that musky skin scent undertone a chance to warm up to me. Edited to update: the dry down of this becomes sweeter & more feminine than the opening’s dose of cedar and greenness. It has a sweet salty coconutty musk, riding a wave of Iso-e. I’m starting to really like it. The dry down of this and Arizona Bloom are 95% identical IMO. I haven’t had the pleasure of trying Le Labo’s Another 13, but I’ve heard that’s in the same realm.

I think I would appreciate this far more on a man than I do myself. Unfortunately for me, growing up my grandmother had this big cedar chest, and while cedar isn’t a bad note, overpowering cedar in a perfume just reminds me of the cedar chest. It’s not my favorite woody note. This isn’t bad, it’s just pretty strong. There’s almost a smoky, incense-y undertone to it. You can also definitely smell the sandalwood in this and a little bit of fig leaf. Not really getting the coconut in this. I don’t hate it. It’s not bad. But I don’t like it on me. Strong smoky wood scent... and make sure you get a sample, because this is not a safe blind buy.

Eh, i was pleasantly surprised by a few of the boy smells fragrances (hinoki fantome has one of the most interesting and addictive openings I have encountered, then becomes completely enigmatic, with a surprising, a typical sweetness), but this one is just middling. Synthetic woodsy notes, some creaminess and a hint of coconut. Then it quickly just kind of becomes one of those generic enhanced skin scents, which makes sense considering this was released for their big launch at Sephora stores, as Sephora seems to be partial to that style of perfumery.

At first spray, I notice the sandalwood, fig leaf and coconut the most. I love a woody scent but the sandalwood here overpowers all the other notes, unfortunately. It reminds me a lot of their candles Cedar Stack and Hinoki Fantome. Definitely could be headache-inducing for some as well. for me this starts with fig, coconut and sandalwood. later i get some cedar with a bit of smokiness. primarily this is coconut and sandalwood with a smoky cedar. it's creamy and warm yet smoky and light at the same time? smells very modern to me...which is a plus for many but not necessarily for me. but of the 3 boy smells i've tried so far, i like this one best, so that's something. however, it's not a love but it is very nice for the right person.

i will say i am a huge hater of woodsy fragrances, especially sandalwood (santal 33 is the worst thing i've ever smelled) but i was pleasantly surprised. at first it was nice, but then after it dried down it smelled too sickeningly sweet, like santal 33. i will say i did have two people compliment me while wearing this so do with that information what you will.

Eh. I'm not a fan of woody scents to begin with, it started off smelling almost sweet and smoky with the woodiness, but dried down to mostly just the woodiness mixed with a little coconut, although it wasn't too bad. Definitely the best wood/forest centered fragrance I've tried, and for that it earns points, but still not my vibe.

oddly the opening reminded me of woodshop class the week we melted down plastic to make keychains. it has this strange burnt smell with a hint of a cotton ball soaked with rubbing alcohol in a hospital, mixed with wood shavings. kinda dusty bookstore vibes in the drydown... strange chemical smell. wasn't a fan.

I thought this was going to be IT, but it’s drying down to a really synthetic wood smell. I barely smelled fig before the wood started coming in and taking over. I’ll update if it changes. Right now I just smell synthetic woods mixed with soap. Bummer!
