TX Lavender

First wearing impression: A vintage esque citrus aromatic lavender but done in a way that retains a smidge of contemporary feels from judicious use of resin and tonka. The opening is a big blast lavender. Shortly thereafter, the citruses start to appear. From there the herbs rise up as well as the wood and vetiver blend. The lavender never takes a back seat and hangs out into the drydown. Now 4-5 hours after applying and it reveals it's final secret, that Boyds signature creosote surfaces. They use only natural ingredients, and I've noticed that the house uses this note in its other fragrances such as High Desert and Quero, so it must be a house blend they use as a fixative. -------------------------------------------------------- Great fragrance that reminds me of a more interesting and lively version of Czech & Speake Oxford and Cambridge Cologne. I am delighted by every perfume from this house, and TX Lavender is my favorite. I love a spicy, dusty, slightly powdery floral, and this delivers just that. I am taken back to yoga classes with a lavender eye pillow on my face while Nag Champa burns in the next room. I have visions of a dried lavender bouquet laid out in the guest room of a West, Texas desert ranch house, the Davis mountains, red hot and baking in the open sky. It's both a soothing and invigorating smell, managing to captivate me when I want to engage with the scent, but not so cloying it won't leave me alone.

Beautiful realistic lavender that opening is amazing the lavender is dark and spicy it reminds me of a pure lavender oil it smells much darker and richer than any other lavender. After a couple minutes the citruses and woods open up and becomes more aromatic with an herbal touch that stays intimate on you all day, easily one of the prettiest lavenders I’ve smelled, got me curious to try the brands other scents this is absolutely bottle worthy.

One of the best US made natural botanicals colognes. This is so well balanced between orangy with levander note, cedar woods, and blending it all together a silky smooth frankincense oil and some other similar notes, if you like male slightly sweet orangy colognes, it is wonderful worth trying. !!! LETS GO USA MADE DESIGNERS AND FRAGANCES. !!!

Year round fragrance very clean (due to lavender) leaning masculine but smooths out as it dries down which for me is wearable. The lavender is very prominent and the brand’s signature base is noticeable in the beginning. The dry down spells like a Catholic Church; the incense, (the wooden pews, incense, cedar and flowers.) very intellectual feeling but natural as well. My husband liked this one as well and I think out of the line I prefer this & Yellow Rose.

by far my favorite of the Boyds of Texas fragrances I've tried.

This has been posted on Rescented for $90 USD. Tested on skin: There is no citrus at all first of all, the cedar is the dominant note in the opening and not the pleasant kind. The lavender hides behind the cedar and Vetiver for a good bit. The transition to more lavender reminds me of burning cedar shoe trees in a damp basement full of old books. This smells like a grandfather that hauled lumber for a living. Hickory woods, medicinal lavender. It’s not the clean fresh fragrance that someone proclaimed here. Think 1940’s log cabin that has some lavender growing in the distance. I don’t find this pleasant or enjoyable so far. Now that things are settled the lavender is ok I just wish they would have added a touch of citrus to cut the tannins of the cedar in the opening. Update: Electing to apply to a different area, not as bad as the old back of the hand spray. A burly man’s fragrance, Blue collar, Filson’s flannel, Stanley lunch box, an old Ford F-100. I would say this is a casual wear.

First blast of lavender takes you by surprise. I have a lot of fragrances with lavender in it but none that hit you with a lavender blast like this. As it settles, the wood creeps out and I feel like I've walked into an old flower shop in West Texas. The cedar is strong but not like BBQ smoke cedar...more like rooftop old wood cedar. The citrus sits nicely in the background but I wish it was more prominent. This needs a little more balance and structure. It's very two dimensional. I'm sure there's a huge audience that will appreciate that. But i just feel like it needs more character. It at least has me interested enough to try the rest of their line up.

It’s not very unisex in my opinion. It screams cowboy aftershave.

Once it dries down its nice but the opening is putrid. There's something that clashes and just smells off and spoiled to me. I recommend Cuero and Green Vetiver.
