Brioni Eau de Parfum Suave

This is underrated and needs more attention and hype. This is not a safe and mainstream scent by any means. It's mature, sophisticated and unapologetically masculine. The scent is unique and stands out from other designer offerings nowadays. This is my favorite from the Brioni line.

A wonderful leather perfume, very soft. It's hard to understand why it's been rated so low. It's very nice for fall.

Peak masculinity. My obsession right now. Been wearing it everyday in the cooler temps.

It’s a beautiful male frag. Crisp, clean, somewhat spicy with a touch of woodiness in the base. It’s not very unique, but still decent. And I think it would go nicely with a suit or a shirt which is probably the main point of this fragrance.

Smells nice. Comes off leathery and smoky to my nose. Very slight sweetness to this one.

I received a bottle in the mail today from Brioni. The opening is very, very green. The dominant note is vetiver. It is not a cute, sweetened vetiver like Tom Ford vetiver, It is a more natural, smokey and earthy style vetiver like Lalique, Guerlain. or Hermes. It evolves in the mid with slight sweet and spicy accords, but a significant harsh, smokey and earthy component definitely persists throughout the life of the fragrance. In addition to the Lalique Encre Noires and Guerlain Vetivers, it reminds me a little bit of Gentleman Givenchy Boisee. Leather and amber are faint whispers in the background compared to the greenness. But the amber does strengthen toward the dry down with a light menthol accord to it. The dry down also has a subtle incense accord, which is not particularly exciting. The glass bottle is gorgeous, just like all the other current Brioni fragrances. Projection is very good. Longevity is fantastic. I am editing this review after having the fragrance on my wrist and elbow for more than 10 hours. I am not joking, I have thoroughly washed my arms and scrubbed the areas I applied the fragrance to three times in the last few hours because I eventually got sick of smelling it, and I can still smell it as I type this. Overall, I would give it a 6/10 and a Fragnatica score of about 3.70. It is pleasant at times but also boring, heavy handed and the poorly behaved vetiver makes it a little too rough around the edges to call it "Suave" ... the name is humorous. I am definitely not an expert, just a regular guy who likes fragrances, so maybe I am missing something, but suave is just about the last descriptor I would use for this fragrance. I highly recommend waiting for this to be available at discounters. I have the other four currently available Brioni fragrances and I would rank this one as my least favorite. In my opinion, it is not blind buy safe unless you are either an older, mature former Canadian lumberjack who has retired to Costa Rica and you miss the smell of the Boreal forest, or a hyperzealous lover of Lalique Encre Noire / Encre Noire A L'Extreme, but you wish to pay much more for the same thing.

Pink pepper and cardamom is always a working combo to attract. I would say boring and I would expect more. However, what to expect from a mass-marketed fragrance line of a luxury men fashion small house? A combination of a mass-pleaser with a touch of true distinction, a Roman Sartorial tailoring can give. And it works well. The whole lineup of now 5 compositions got its own DNA. It looks like a well executed plan of a studied suit cut. So don't expect originality, new horizons, uniquness. This is the heritage of experience, forms that lay on your body perfectly, mastering the details which highlight your strengths and hide your flows. Only great tailor can cut and sew that way. But to the point, Suave though described by the brand as Amber leathery spicy, is like washings of such essence. Filtered three times. I can feel echoes of leather and amber but this is such a safe bound on this olfactive group. Don't misunderstand, all it's left is very sleek and elegant. This is a leather scent for those who can't stand rich opulent notes like that but still would wear them. You wear Suave with ease. You can wear it everywhere. It's a lawyer on his 52nd floor with clear view on his coast house on a frosty day. Would be that guy, minus the word "lawyer". Thanks, I work creative job. Anyway, I would wear it for an elegant occasion. To feel well constructed.

Off a blotter, this fragrance reminded me of Blazing Mr. Sam in a Halfeti style. However, it is presented in a smoother, more designer way. Update: After wearing this a few times on skin, it doesn't smell anything like how it smells on paper. On my skin, it has an ashy, dirty, green, and leathery smell, which I really don't find to be very suave. A better name would have been Brioni Rugged. I'm a huge fan of the Brioni line, but this one didn't resonate with me. Of all the fragrances, I would say this is the least "blind buyable" and I would rank it at the bottom of the Brioni fragrances. Maybe I'll change my mind about it later in my fragrance journey, and maybe it needs colder weather. But seriously, sample this one first. Surprisingly, it was not what I expected.

I want to like it, I really do, but I don't think I can. The bottle looks really nice and cap and atomizer is impressive. But the smell is not for me. Maybe I will like it when I'm older.

Sauve is the last of the 5 Brioni's I've tested and the one with the best performance. I got a good 10 hours out of it although projection was modest after the first hour. Despite the great performance, I really dislike the scent. I might not know my vetiver, but the opening to me is a very strong cedar even though there is no cedar note in the pyramid. I enjoyed cedar that contributes to the whole but with Suave it was straight out dominating hamster bedding cedar smell. As it dried down, the cedar smell became weaker but always was there throughout the life of the fragrance. Big turn off for me.

Weirdest thing happened with this frag. Took a tester on paper and really REALLY loved it, went in store the next day to buy it, but just in case decided to test it on skin too and oh my... it was completely different (in a bad way). Never had an experience like this before with a frag that one can smell so differently on paper and on skin. Lesson learned.

Excited for this one My journey with Brioni so far has been rather hit or miss : - Original EDP was pleasant enough, nice clean musky violet 7/10 fragrance but nothing special - Intense was one of the best designer fragrances I've ever put my nose on, most successful blind buy of 2022 - Eclat was a total miss in my opinion, didn't like it all - Essentiel was along the same lines of the original, good but not great. They've earned enough goodwill with me with Intense that I'm willing to give their new offerings a try whenever they come out.

Hands down my favorite from the line. Followed closely by the EDP. It's a spicy leathery amber, and it's ridiculously sexy. I don't think it wears mature at all. In Autumn and Winter I'll be rocking this with my leather jackets and overcoats. If Armani Code Profumo didn't have that annoying clinical green apple note, and you replaced it with a yummy waxy leather note.

My bottle is on the way. I will edit this comment and share my thoughts with you later this week I guess. Edit: I really don't like this smell. I don't get why someone would wear a fragrance that smells like a night out in a bar full of smokers. It has something green to it, but there is no fruity aspect and it's not sweet at all. Sadly far away from my expectations.

Amber, leather, spice, animal, shower gel hiding in the background. Is that medicated bandaid? I like it. I don’t see me purchasing a bottle but it is worth a sample. This is the family golden retriever. This is a good introduction to animal and leather if you are new to it. This is very gentle.

It reminds me of one of the versions of Burberry's Hero, perhaps we are talking about Parfum, it also has that disgusting sandalwood like in Santal 33.

Hopefully another solid release from Brioni. I look forward to buying this off discounters for a very decent price
