Jungle Fantasy

I can't believe how under the radar this release came to be. When I first heard of it I thought it might be a joke because of its kind of risqué name... "Jungle Fantasy" while playing on the "Fantasy" names of her previous scents does have a stigma attached to it, but even with all the "free Britney" stuff going on m, nothing seemed to raise hackles or interest in the fragrance release, which is unfortunate because this one is quite a gem. I bought it without knowing what it smelled like so it was a gamble but because I have loved her releases since Curious was gifted to me for Chrismas way back in 04, I have loved some of her scents and she seems to have a real lucky streak for putting out good ones (I do love the original Fantasy too) I first sprayed this just onto the box to get a sense of it and make sure it didn't have anything awful going on, but then I sprayed it right on my skin. Its opens quite.. fresh. The "violet leaf, yuzu and watermelon" smell like a fresh shower, like right after you get out the shower and you smell just clean and refreshed, then it hits you with a floral note, like the description says "hints of gardenia, Gustavia flower and water lily." And then it mellows out to the warm "tonka and cupcake." So it does match up to its descriptions but I really get a "fresh shower" followed by a light floral note then a warm finish. I think it is a divine fragrance and another win for the fragrance house of Britney Spears. The only negative about it, and this is common with her scents is that it is not the longest lasting scent. You can implore the many tricks of the trade to get it to last longer (applying over scent free emollients, etc) but I believe it is worth it. I got this for a fairly low price and will thoroughly enjoy it, and the bottle is absolutely gorgeous and luxe feeling. I would totally recommend and think it is fabulous. I feel bad it went seemingly sight unseen it has more reviews Herr than anywhere else I've seen but more can't hurt.

This is one of the few Fantasy perfumes that I genuinely like the scent of and doesn’t smell too much like a shampoo. I can’t wear shampooey perfumes because I find them screechy. jungle Fantasy isn’t screechy and is juicy and wearable and genuinely has a good watermelon note in it. Unfortunately it really does wear like a body spray. It’s a real shame because this is much more of a true watermelon scent than Island fantasy, but it lasts for about 5 minutes before becoming a skin scent and then it’s gone within about an hour. It’s better on clothing but yeah.... They really are taking the p!ss with this one! The 100ml only cost me £15, and I still feel like I was robbed 😅 Edit - I'm obsessed with this after a few wears in very hot and humid weather. I got a compliment on it when I'd had it on for a while too, so maybe I just go a bit anosmic to it myself? I genuinely despise L'Imperatrice and Be Delicious (sour, sharp and chemically to my nose!) so i don't get a strong similarity between those and Jungle Fantasy..... I think the faint cupcake note might be what's making this more palatable to me. Not that I normally go for cupcake perfumes but I like the sort of sweet and ever so slightly plasticy accord it creates within this composition. I liked it straight away but didn't think it would become a love, and I actually love this on a hot day now!

Jungle Fantasy is currently my favorite fantasy flanker for everyday wear. It's one of those shampoo-type flankers (if you're familiar with the shampoo in question, you'll immediately associate it with that scent), but that's not a problem here. Firstly, the scent is very clean and pleasant, and secondly, the top notes have the distinction of remaining largely identifiable throughout the day, which is quite rare and worth praising. It's very juicy, like a blend of ripe watermelon and beautiful tropical flowers. As time goes on, the base reveals itself, quite simple but making all the difference: a base closer to biscuit than cream, which prevents the fragrance from becoming cloying while still allowing it to last all day. I love leaving my office and returning to smell the cute little sweet/floral cloud it has left behind! This fragrance doesn't have the over-the-top character of Did It Again, for example; it's quite tame, much more so than its name suggests, but it remains rather sweet and fruity. Its truly interesting aspect is its dominant ozonic/aquatic character, supported by a gourmand base—it really works and it's surprising. I also note that this one seems much more unisex than most Fantasy fragrances.

UPDATE: I am giving this to a friend. Not because I don't love her (because I do!), but because I don't wear her anymore. I'm sad to report the longer she's sat on my shelf, the weaker she has become. Which really bums me out. Couple that with the almost chemically opening (to me)--I'm going to pass it onto someone who truly enjoys every aspect of the fragrance. ___________________________________________________________ One of my favorite Britney fragrances! I didn't have super high expectations on it, but let me tell you: it has a photorealistic watermelon scent, the gardenia is beautiful, and the cupcake gives it a sweet little something. Longevity on me isn't great, but I re-apply! Not overpowering, it's a very well done skin scent. It reminds me of a high end baby shampoo or lotion but not in a synthetic way. In the way a new baby has that new baby smell--you know what I'm talking about? This is one I auto grab when I'm not sure what I want to wear that day.

The name is misleading. I absolutely can't imagine the jungle smelling like that. With a name like that, I can't help but think of Kenzo's Jungle... It's completely different! On the other hand, it's a lovely creation, both aquatic and airy, fruity but not too sweet, floral but light. If in the '90s you loved "Eau d'Eden," "Eau par Kenzo," or "Eau d'Issey," this Britney Spears is for you! I was looking for a fresh and light fragrance for sunny days, it's done ! You can go heavy-handed (I actually recommend it), because unfortunately, it's a bit weak. And as usual with "Fantasy," what a lovely bottle!
