Midnight Fantasy

I first fell in love with Midnight Fantasy in 2006, when I'd steal sprays from my friend Chasidy's bottle every time I slept over at her house. I was an Heiress by Paris Hilton girl at the time, but Midnight Fantasy had me by the throat. I still associate it indelibly with her. (Incidentally, we're still close friends who talk all the time despite living on different coasts. She's a brilliant ex-banker who now works in affordable housing policy and does pole routines dressed as Pitbull. One of the funniest people alive. Shoutout to her.) I fell back in love with Midnight Fantasy last year. I bought the OG, Midnight, and Fantasy Intense on a whim, which quickly extended to my needing to try almost every other flanker currently available. There are some gems in there - Electric Fantasy's passionfruit-ambroxan buzz is smarter and edgier than it needs to be; Candied Fantasy is a bubblegum-floral dream; Circus Fantasy has a nostalgic aquamarine quality, like a blue raspberry snow-cone at a water park. I'm partial to the Intense version in particular. But Midnight Fantasy is just that girl. There's a tart, zingy quality from the sour cherry that you don't get from many of the flankers, or many of the super-sweet perfumes being released these days, for that matter. It balances the syrupy plum and keeps the nostalgic raspberry-freesia blend from running away with the whole thing. Somehow, she still feels modern and distinct. And perfectly purple. I've been going through a bit of a millennial fruity floral renaissance lately, and am on a mission to try as many of the nostalgic celeb/mall store cheapies I overlooked growing up as well as some of the smarter newer offerings in that vein (I've recently fallen head over heels for Phlur's Mood Ring). But this one has honestly worked its way back into my top tier. It's such an easy reach.

Generally, I'm more of a fan of niche perfumes - I find many of the well-known brands too obvious or heavy-smelling. I like things that are a bit unusual. I'm also a lover of fresh or herbal scents. I'm not a lover of gourmand or anything too sweet. Anyway, I have a 16 year old daughter who's going through a bit of a Y2K obsession at the moment, so I bought her the pink-bottle Britney Fantasy. It was fine. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I was waiting to pay in Superdrug and I picked this up and had a spray. I wasn't invested at first. It smelt a bit biscuity and musky. But then something amazing happened between paying and getting back to the car! I kept getting hints of something fizzy and zesty. It reminded me of Refreshers (that iconic British retro-sweet). It wasn't cloying or overly sweet - it sparkled. And, boy, did it have some longevity - I could still smell it on my coat sleeve days later (and it also imprinted on my skin, so I could smell it on my wrist hours later). Anyway, the next time I was in Superdrug, I couldn't resist spraying it again. Now, I'm 53, so wasn't really sure if I could justify buying myself a 2006 Britney scent! But I could get it for my daughter. So I did. She loves it. We went to the theatre the other day, and I kept getting hints of it as she was sitting next to me. Many perfumes give me a headache - but not this one. It was just such a beautiful, pleasant smell. When I tidy her room, I've started spraying it in the wardrobe and in the room - and it's amazing. I guess the closest other perfume it reminds me of is Ginger Essence by Origins. If you're a fan of zesty, fizzy scents with a hint of sweetness (but nothing cloying), then I'd recommend giving this a try. It's incredible value - especially considering the silage and longevity.

Even though this fragrance is a flanker of the original Fantasy by Britney Spears, I hardly smell the original DNA from Fantasy. This fragrance gives off a shampoo scent like when you’re shampooing your hair in the shower and you get suds and the aroma of the steam and the shampoo combines together. The opening note of plum definitely adds to this shampoo like aroma with the sour cherry and raspberry, giving it a fruity punch in the beginning that smells a bit mysterious and fruity in a dark way. One of the middle note of iris gives it a musky, makeup like scent to it combined with the freesia and orchid balances out the fruitiness and adds more complexity to the scent. I feel like the way these notes are blended in with the other notes, it’s hard to identify them on their own. Then the base notes of musk gives it that shampoo scent and the vanilla and amber balance it out and give it a more generic, well-rounded smell. I imagine a very young girl in her early teens wearing this fragrance. It smells like a blueberry shampoo, even though there’s no blueberry note in it. To me, it gives off a more powerful version of a body mist and smells very immature and juvenile and for this reason, I have decluttered it. There’s a mysterious quality about it, and I would definitely classify it as an evening scent. It smells like a cloudy evening night on a full moon. Another way to describe it is it’s like a girl wearing dark blue velvet corset.

an intense, fruity, fresh, pretty good, but kind of difficult to wear and cloying scent. when i first started being interested in perfumes, i wanted this. so bad. i love cherry, i love plum, i love vanilla- i thought it was the perfect fit. i read all the reviews and for my birthday a friend got it for me. i tried it on, and for a few months it was my signature scent, until i was sitting in a class between two guys and it was so hot and all i could smell was that nauseating perfume. it was so sugary and icky and strong, and i was so embarrassed by it. those two guys were very polite and didn't say anything, but i'm sure they felt the same. not that much of a light seductive scent. soon after, i smelled it on someone else and thought, "oh my gosh this is heafy. after that i stayed away. until toiday-- i resmelled it and damn. its still super strong berries, kind of sour, dark, sugary and slightly nauseating scent that i think is nice, but, although i'm a goth and probably stand out a lot, i'm quite self conscious and easily embarrassed and i think this scent is too strong for me and i worry it draws too much attention to myself. :,) i don't know-- i still like it but i don't really wear it anymore all that out of the way i have to say this has insane projection and longevity + I love you britney my queen

I was so surprised by this. I'm not one of those people for whom "sickeningly sweet youthful candy perfume" necessarily sticks out as something I "should" buy... at least not without testing it first. I did, though. I sprayed it on, almost dreading the inevitability of me hating it. I sniffed it. I thought for a few seconds. Sniffed again and again for the next ten or so minutes. It didn't necessarily say "youthful". Without exaggerating, this is to Vivienne Westwood's Boudoir as Cherry Coke is to original Coca Cola. Nobody would pay the prices of Boudoir for this if it was discontinued and sold on eBay, but I think this is just as complex. As bitter/creamy almond & vanilla combo in the base that permeates the other two phases. Sour cherry that combines with the almond to make an almost Hypnotic Poison, without the play-dough. La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto with added sweetness. The plum feels very 80s & 90s. It's not overly complicated, but it does feel a lot more mature than its given credit for. Or at least other similarly sweet designers are given too much of a pass for smelling even sweeter in some occasions because of the price tag. Hugely suggest for anyone who likes fruit florals, gourmands, leathers, fruity gourmands and vanilla, or cherry.

IMHO the best perfume out of the most ICONIC celebrity perfume line. This beauty has been with me since I was 16, now I'm about to turn 26 and I still love it, although I wear other scents now. Midnight Fantasy truly smells y2k, we know fruity perfumes were the most popular choice of that decade, however, it doesn't smell dated at all. When I got this perfume I thought it smelled like berries jelly powder. 10 years later, my point still stands. It's super juicy, fruity, and also quite clean? it kinda gives condicioner/shampoo scent depending on the weather. I found it layers well with creamy vanilla scents (like cloud, velvet petals, choco musk, bare vanilla). The performance is what's really surprising. Idk if my skin loves this dna or what, but the longevity AND projection of this cheapie is insane. I've been complimented on it multiple times over the years. I will be forever repurchasing this because of the nostalgia, I will always have a Brit perfume in my collection. Her music and her perfume line made so happy on my younger years and continue to do so. The fantasy bottle is also the prettiest design a celeb perfume ever had.

Midnight Fantasy does not try to be conceptual art or highly complex perfumery. This fragrance projects youthful femininity, flirtatiousness, and Y2K nostalgia. It does not communicate quiet luxury or minimalist sophistication. Its intention is to be attractive. chilled syrup. There is an accord that recalls red fruit drinks or violet candies, but it is balanced with enough acidity to keep it from becoming completely cloying. The heart introduces freesia, soft iris, and synthetic orchid. This is where the classic DNA of many feminine fragrances from the 2000s appears: a clean, cosmetic shampoo-like sensation, but coated in purple sugar. The iris does not create a sophisticated powdery effect in the style of classic French perfumery; rather, it works to soften the fruits and create a velvety texture. Although the notes are sweet, the composition conveys a nocturnal and fresh sensation. I love this fragrance, but my only issue is its performance. It barely lasts four hours on my skin, and I don’t like having to reapply. I wouldn't repurchase it, although I still think it is a good perfume.

Midnight Fantasy is a legendary fragrance. It has been cited numerous times by perfumers as a benchmark scent, despite its mass-market status. The real problem is that it has changed following its reformulation. I'm not a perfume connoisseur, but having my old bottle, I notice major differences between the currently distributed version and the original. The original is a very intense, misty, magical, very well-rounded and deep fragrance; the new formula is more abrupt, volatile, and slightly more generic. Don't be fooled, even the new version is definitely worth trying, as its fragrance pyramid is astonishing and addictive. However, it's important to realize that it's just a less well-executed copy of what we were lucky enough to have in our teenage years. For me, Midnight Fantasy is a fragrance of seduction; its playful, magical, and mischievous depth makes it my go-to choice when I want to charm a man (and the results are conclusive—happy coincidence? I don't know). Thank you Britney and Elisabeth for this wonderful experience and all the nights you made so special.

I firmly believe that if Midnight Fantasy was sold under a different branding, a lot of fragheads would go crazy for it. Now, I have to admit, I was worried it would come off as too synthetic or shampoo-y but what I got is this really attractive perfume that is more sophisticated than I had expected and fits both as a cozy, warm plum-forward scent for autumn/winter and as a sexy, fruity date scent for the warmer months. Or a daily driver, honestly, if you're into that whole vibe. It's not too sweet or heavy for it. Plums and raspberries dominate the profile here but are balanced against the florals and don't come off too sweet to my nose. Vanilla isn't that noticeable apart from offering depth and roundness to the composition. All in all it reminds me of some fancy cocktail. Drydown gets more musky but retains both the fruitiness and the florals. It lasts 3-4 hours on me with sillage on the lower end of moderate. Legit happy to have it in my collection, especially for the low price of 11 Euros.

i actually never had an easy reach scent or a day time throw-on-and-go type of scent until this one. of all my perfumes, this is absolutely my favorite. i have lots of frags where i love certain aspects of the profile but this is the only fragrance i've had where no single note puts me off. in the best way possible, it totally smells like a blueberry vape. when i first sprayed this i was coming out of the hottest part of summer and i remember thinking "whoa, that's really sweet!" it taught me the difference between a sweet perfume, a fruity perfume, and a sweet fruity perfume. this is in that last category. that sour cherry top note is to die for. i do wish it was stronger. i layer it with a very sparingly-applied la vie est belle and i find that works very well together and draws tons of compliments. midnight fantasy is the only fragrance i will resort to using vaseline first to extend the longevity LOL

This is really lovely. I got a small size when I bought Fantasy but I will buy the bigger size for sure. This smells clean in a body wash way but also jam-like (without being like a vape lol). It has this amazing soft quality about it. Imagine a hot person straight out of the shower. This is sweet without being overtly too sweet. Its just the right amount of everything. It doesnt have at all this “dangerous woman“ quality you would assume from the name or the colour, but its still seductive. It doesnt have the peppery bits that the original fantasy has when you first spray it which thank Spears. I can imagine this being worn by just about everyone to everything. If you wanna smell lovely in the club or in the grocery store this one wont disappoint. It‘s really addictive. I do recommend this for everyone (and even over the original Fantasy)

Midnight fantasy goes well with any occasion , long lasting && is STRONG ; but in a soft sugar bomb kind of vibe . It is dark plum and sugar sugar sugar . It’s what a Disney princess would smell like . This perfume gets noticed and you’ll have people asking what your wearing . I’ve been through countless bottles of this since I’ve been 16 when it came out in 2006 . Yes I’m 32 && still wear it every once in awhile . It’s like a love potion in a bottle , I’ve had people tell me I smell amazing even after 6 hours of wearing this . To me it smells like blueberry muffins and sugar . I’ve also been told it smells like froot loops .? Anyone can wear this , it doesn’t matter the gender , if you like it then that’s all that matters . This perfume can be worn all year round . Trust me she’s gorgeous and I got a 3.3 oz for only 20 dollars 🤍😍 .

Oh boy Im late to the party obviously First I didn't had high expectations of this one and neither after I saw reviews saying it was a shampoo scent, almost canceled the purchase, HAPPY I did not because wtf is this sexyyyyy scent Im getting literally Im surprised, longevity uggg, projection! Price everything on point omg I would describe this as seductive, sexy, confident girl type of scent This is so daum good, I feel so much the plum, sour cherry and musky vanilla I have a lot of perfumes and this does not disappoints at all! To me shampoo vibes is Ari from ariana grande, very disappointed on that one but Im gonna rate midnight fantasy a 10/10 because I just can't find something wrong with it, love it!

I love this perfume and forever will have it in my collection! im not good and picking out single ingredients/scents but to me this opens up with a lemonade smell - not citrus, but sugary fizzy sweet- then dries down to a thick syrupy sweetness with a touch of floral. On the full dry down this is a beautiful sweet creamy scent that is warm and thick but still a bit sharp. Definitely more a nighttime perfume but I wear it when ever. It last FOREVER and I can smell it on my skin still by the end of the night and on my clothes until I wash them. I love getting a whiff of this throughout the day. I don't really like the fantasy bottles but in the 30ml size they are more cute and less tacky.

A lot of people compare Dark Kiss and Sweet Like Candy to MF, so I want to give my take on the vibe between them all: Midnight Fantasy is the middle sister between the two. She's a nocturnal dreamer, dark fairycore, ethereal, seductive. She's dark berries, soft florals and creamy vanilla. Dark Kiss is like Midnight Fantasy's darker, romantigoth elder sister. She's sultry, mysterious, wears black lace, and dark romance. She's dark berries, velvet burgundy roses, plum and creamy vanilla and musk. (My favorite of the 3) Sweet Like Candy is Midnight Fantasy's sugary little sister. She's flirtatious, coquette playful, sugary femininity. She's tart candied berries, fluffy, vanilla and soft.

I own quite a few designer perfumes, and if I’m being honest, this is my second favourite perfume out of all of them. Midnight fantasy smells like a blue raspberry lollipop to me, or like you’ve just washed your hair with a sweet berry scented shampoo. The best thing about it? It’s not even that expensive. It costed me £19 for a full 100ml bottle (Superdrug uk!) Very 2000s coded. Yes it may smell cheap and unserious, but this makes it perfect for everyday wear, and not too strong to the point it suffocates you like the more expensive perfumes do. I love to layer this with Victoria secrets’ love spell, absolutely my no.1 combo at the moment. Floral fruity girlies, thank me later.

Found this at Ross and grabbed it bc I knew it was a many’s favorite. This is nice, love the plum opening, it’s a sweet plum deepened by the cherry. Then the iris & orchid softens the fruit until it reaches the powdery point then smooths. The vanilla deepens the fragrance with a warmness. The dry down is a sweet vanilla fruity with a slight airiness left from the florals. The deep dry down goes to a clean sweet skin scent. It is not a loud fragrance, but keeps you in a bubble. It last through my sleep awakening to the sweet skin scent. This is deep with the fruit, the florals add a soft airiness, then warms up by the vanilla. It is a good one, I quite enjoy it! 10/10

Midnight fantasy my beloved!! <33 I love this perfume sooo much!! I will always have this in my collection! I first smelt this in 2022 and thought it was so unique so I can only imagine how unique it was when it first released in 2006! It smelt syrupy and intoxicating! This smells so fruity, sweet and delicious! I smell berries however when I wear it people around me smell candy floss/candy! I rely on this perfume a lot when going out the house! I know it smells good, I can smell it on myself and it projects and lasts a long time!! The name and colour of the bottle is perfect! It smells like a mischievous purple/blue woodland fairy! 🧚🏻 Genius concoction!! <33

this is like a sweet blueberry plum shampoo, I love it. this and the original fantasy are probably my favourite from the line; this one is specifically perfect for winter in my opinion (maybe because of the plum, it reminds me of the nutcracker), but its also nice for year round. especially at night after a shower, because its very clean, relaxing, and dreamy. its like a blue forest fairy 🧚🫐🍇 the longevity is really good too, I usually spray this at night before I go to sleep and can still smell it in the morning

My favorite of the Britney Spears Fantasy perfumes. Uplifting, juicy, sweet, fun, nostalgic, midnight but not warm dark a fun-loving kind of dark, everything I want in a perfume. The plum, sour cherry, and raspberry notes are DIVINE. I can't even fully put into words how lovely Midnight Fantasy is. The bottle is beautiful as well. I can smell this on me after all day especially if I get a lil bit on my clothes. Easily always going to be in my top favorite perfumes for life.

I'm 65years old, and I love this beautiful, sweet, soft but strong, gentle, delicious, fruity-florally, vanillary, sort of caramelly even, very uplifting and comforting perfume. I think it's terrific. Not too much of anything, nothing is annoying. It's as fresh and delicious now, at 4pm, as it was in the beginning, at 5am! It's gorgeous. It's a beautiful bottle too, such a glorious colour! It makes me feel really good; happy, content, calm, and centred. Thank you Britney!

This lasts forever on me. I could still smell it in my hair after I shampooed it! I smell blackberries, citrus and musk. I don't smell much in the way of florals besides a subtle freesia. Midnight Fantasy more than anything is like a combination of fresh, citrusy shampoo and Pixie Stix. It's sweet and sour. I do smell something green, like leaves or grass. Imo this is one of the best celebrity scents. It really does make me think of moonlight.

This is a love potion. A secret weapon. It's almost like it manipulates the subconcious mind with one mission only; seduce. Your logic will try telling you this is too sweet, too synthetic, too fruity. Too juvenile. But, the spell is already cast, you're ensnared. Rumors about this having pheromones in it were widespread back in the day. The exotic raspberry note is much more prominent than what the notes says!

I know many people describe this as a “shampoo” type of scent but that’s just right up my alley! This is by far one of the best fragrances in the Fantasy line. It is seriously so amazing and nostalgic! 💜💙 I wouldn’t wear this to my office job though but rather to a night out since it’s pretty noticeable. I use Pure Seduction from Victoria’s Secret to layer with this one and it’s a perfect match!

Bought a 30ml bottle from Amazon for $15 and now I already have a 100ml backup bottle. Juicy, crisp, purple, fruity smell. I have a deviated septum and a terrible sense of smell and this breaks right through all that. It lasts ages. Out of all my perfumes, this has received the most compliments. I like to wear happy scents to bed so this is a great one to spray before my head hits the pillow.

A brilliant cheapie, it smells amazing in wintertime. The sour cherry and plum waft through your coat when the cold air hits you. It warms beautifully on the skin but is definitely a cold scent, best paired with crisp air. Really good for a cold evening walk when the sky is dark. I've owned and known this fragrance since I was a teen, love and makes me think of many memories.

Idc what anyone says, I LOVE THIS LOL. To me, this smells like a sexy office siren eating a sugary blue raspberry pushpop, and it's so good. The florals give that sophistication that makes the candy scent well-rounded, and I feel like a gorgeous gal when I wear it. My only issue is that the beginning is a bit tart for my liking, but after a few minutes, it's straight bliss.

this is the ultimate nighttime fragrance for me. it opens with some kind of bubbly notes of haribo jelly bears, and then softly settles into a floral vanilla base with shower gel-like quality. this literally smells like talking a shower at 9pm in summer and putting on silk nightwear to bed with fresh sheets. definitely recommend, unless you’re not into shampooiness

she's my girl. this perfume makes me feel so fruity, so scrumptious, so vibrant(!!). she's sweet but not sticky. she's intoxicating, but never too heavy. she soars. it makes me feel edible, like i'm a little plum fairy picking fruit. or like i'm on the magic cat-bus in Totoro and i'm GALLOPING through the sky. i love you britney spears midnight fantasy <3

This is so beautiful!!! It gets even more ethereal and sophisticated when you splash water on the parts of your body where you sprayed the perfume. A lot of people say that it smells like shampoo which I think is true. But it's a bit elevated. To some people, it may smell like a vape! To me, it smells ethereal but a bit generic. It's a safe blind buy.

This smells like a fruity shampoo. Nothing more, nothing less. Very strong so you only need 1 or 2 spritz. Perfect as a hair perfume, and yes of course it is juvenile because it's a fruity shampoo scent. But every now and then it's a joy to wear when feeling fun and lighthearted. It is a great nighttime scent due to the freshly washed hair smell.

midnight fantasy smells like the perfect mix of cute and flirty with a litttllle bit of mischievousness to it. it is sweet and affordable and you can pretty much get away with wearing it any season any time of the day which makes it even better. Oh and it gets compliments as well. I can see why it is not for everyone but i think it is a stealll.

I just received this as a christmas present and I love it. Its very fresh and sweet but sensual and mysterious. Plum, sour cherry and apple are most noticeable. I know apple isnt listed but its apple juice kind of sweet with the plum and sour cherry making it mysterious. About 9 hours after spraying a bit in my hair the vanilla is coming out.

I imagine skipping through a dark forest carrying a basket filled with deep-toned red and blue forest berries and plums. I smell my wrist again. Now it's a bit deeper not as tart perhaps syrupy with a little bit of depth now i think of a berry sangria. Lasts a long time on me, moderate projection I've gotten a few compliments!

This is the best britney perfume. repurchased since my teen years. smells like a beautiful plum potion but it is fun. Bottle and scent give of magical vibes but not too dark or heavy just a nice purple potion. pick up plum the most and a nice sweetness to it. Feminine and elegant. 10/10. love this. would bathe in it

I’ve worn this perfume since i was 12 - i’m now 30 and it’s still one of my favourites. the best of the best Britney’s perfumes. It’s a very sweet perfume - strong notes of plum, rasberries and florals. Reminds of me skittles. It’s long lasting, the bottle is so cute and it’s so cheap!!

I used to love this, but over the years, not so much. I never got the shampoo smell. I do feel like it's a nighttime perfume. And I do feel like it's a little childish. I will try it again in the future to see if I still feel the same about it, but I'm not hopeful that I will.

Just got my hands on this one and am surprised to say I actually enjoy it more than the original fantasy. I love the plum that shines thru and on me it is pretty sweet I don’t get to much sour notes even though it’s sour cherry maybe it’s just my skin chemistry though _-.-_/

I consider this one of the most elegant releases from Britney’s line. The plum note stands out beautifully, but in a fresh and slightly airy way thanks to the floral heart. It’s not cloying. Performance-wise, it projects nicely and lasts over five hours on my skin.

I prefer this flanker! I love the smell of it and this is by far my favorite “cheapie” - always throw this on before casually going out or after showers, and I still get compliments. So great! :) Sweet but nothing synthetic for the price in my humble opinion.

Just bought one back as I felt nostalgia for the one I owned as a teen. To my surprise it never changed! Same as it was 16+ years ago! Long lasting, good projection, fizzy fruity smell mixed with amber to make it perfumey. I love it! And so inexpensive too.

I really really love this perfume. smell like sour cherry, plum.. very juicy fruity candy smell. a little artificial, almost like candy or gummy like scent. But I enjoy it. I wish it has more longevity and sillage. But you know..very affordable price point.

This perfume is so so good. Fresh fruity sweet fragrance. Long lasting and good silliage. I blind bought this after finally trying the original fantasy and this to me is so much better. This is one I’ll be keeping in my collection permanently!

This was my signature scent back in my late teens. Haven’t smelled it in years but remember that beautiful sweet strong cherry and vanilla smell. This perfume reminds me of my current perfume love which is Very Good Girl Elixir 🩷🩷🩷

My favorite in the whole Fantasy line. I love the dark plummy vibe, so different from the OG Fantasy DNA. I wore this a lot in college and the smell makes me so happy. Early 2000s nostalgia in a bottle.

Now hear me out: this is a Christmas scent. This is precisely what I imagine the sugar plum fairy to smell like, with that hint of childhood whimsy in that it kind of smells like kiddie bubble bath.

One of my favorite perfumes ever, has stuck with me for years and its one of my more preferred ones i use whenever im about to go out, definitely a number one choice for a date because of its smell!

at the very least like top 15 fragrances of all time, respectively. so juicy and fruity but also so moody and sophisticated, im a dude but i feel like a lady of the night when i wear this

This is a winter perfume. I was very unimpressed with it in the summer and fall. It's a nice fruity scent. Totally worth the price. Give it a few chances, I had to and I love it now. <3
