50/50 on mango start but, BUT it settles so beautifully in the skin wtf! I love it after the initial has passed. Unique and well blended. It’s the closest sitting of the Brown Girl Jane fragrances I have and that’s a lot considering I don’t own only like 3 perhaps... I double tapped and sprayed wrist and inner elbow; when I hold my arm out after about an hour, I don’t get much. When my arms rest at about lap length, I consistently get whiffs. I will say I notice BGJ carry and last when I use a light body oil, so I’m gonna aim for that next shower and see what my lasting power is. LOVE THE SCENT BUT CAN ONLY JUSTIFY A TRAVEL WITH THIS LONGEVITY (3h max)

I absolutely love this fragrance ! Its so yum on my skin chemistry. Its a fruity gourmand airy feminine scent that has a tropical warmer twist to it. Yes its soft but it lingers. If your into heavy unisex fragrances or deep heavy fill up a room scents wanting 100 ppl to smell you loudly , this isnt for you. This is the spring , summery vibe for a ultra femme woman who stays in the crowd but her soft sexy appeal is known. I see Kim Porter with this fragrance if she was still with us. Rip Kim Porter. Definitely a keeper !

At first spray this was a love for me! It’s a bright mango with a warm musk. I was so excited to bring this on vacay. Sadly it was a tad cloying in the heat with the pepper in the base turning really spicy. I have nothing like this in my collection. The only fragrance that comes to mind is Mod Vanilla by Arianna Grande. They are not dupes but they do share a similar warm sweet musky vibe. This one is just fruity.

I love this for summer, it's like a tropical vacation in a bottle. The scent is pretty unique and not like anything else I have. As others have said, my only issue is that it does not last very long so I have to keep reapplying it. It pairs great with Saltair Exotic Pulp lotion/body oil which also helps it last a little longer.

Wearing today, just came in the mail. Cannot wait to smell this after it macerates! Immediate Fruity, Floral, Bright! Mango and Whipped Cream, but in a different way. It is still somehow familiar, but I cannot put my finger on why. This makes me smile. BGJ, thank you for another great one!

what's not to like? super juicy and fresh and tropical. the mango note in here is so beautiful and smooth, which has not always been the case with mango notes for me, so that was a really pleasant surprise. overall at this price point you can't really lose with this one

Blind bought during Sephora sale... oh. My. Gosh. Very well blended I mean this is EVERYTHING I wanted Fame by PR to be. Synthetic mess that I can’t wear every day bleh anyways... this so fluffy, creamy, and sweet. About to have me in a chokehold for the spring!!

I absolutely LOVE Casablanca and Dare. I took a chance and blind bought Carnivale from Brown Girl Jane’s website, as they were offering a free 30 ml Casablanca with a minimum purchase. I have ZERO regrets. This is soft, sweet and a tad spicy in the best way.

I love BGJ Carnivale perfume. The fragrance reminds me of vacationing in the Caribbean. Thank you to a Fragrance Foundation email, for letting me know about this amazing perfume. 😍

I absolutely love this perfume. It's fruity and creamy and delicious. I've been wearing it everyday. My only complaint is the sillage and lasting power is pretty nonexistent.

Delicious sugary tropical mango cream saver. Nothing complex, just simple tropical goodness. This was the scent I chose to buy full size from sampling the discovery set.

This smells sweet & delicious in a non-offensive way. For anyone open to a fruity scent, I think this is blind buy safe. I do wish it projected and lasted more :(

If you love mango scents, this is definitely worth getting your nose on. The mango is juicy, yet the overall scent is very creamy, whipped and the longer it sits, the muskier it becomes. I’ve never smelled a pimento note but there is definitely a little zing in the dry down. It’s feminine, cute and yummy. It’s a gourmand, but a non gourmand lover (like myself) could still enjoy this. BGJ released this at the perfect time because this is great for spring and summer....especially for a vacation. If you are expecting a complex, mind blowing, loud projecting fragrance that fills up a room and lasts all day, this is not it. It’s a simple, soft, easy reach to smell good scent and unfortunately, the longevity and sillage is nonexistent. It’s completely gone in 3 hours and that’s with over spraying on skin AND clothes. You absolutely will need to decant, buy a travel size or bring the bottle with you (it’s a small bottle) and reapply often if you want to smell it all day. The performance is too poor for me to keep but it’s worth a try for someone that enjoys skin scents and doesn’t mind constantly reapplying.

A fantastic tropical fragrance. A slightly sweet ripe mango with a freshness from jasmine and a clean musk. Sweet from the agave and creamy from the vanilla and sandalwood. I get a zing from the ginger, but not too sharp. This fragrance is beautiful and perfect for Summer. In my opinion it smells nothing like Famw. The are both beautiful mango fragrances. But Carnivale is a realist mango forward scent with florals and vanilla in the background and Fame is a floral vanillia forward scent with mango in the background. Both are beautiful and serve a purpose in my collection , two very different scents. Carnivale does remind me of Daukens Arome Fun Fair fragrance on the other hand.

now THIS is what everyone hyped mango skin up to be! super juicy & vibrant without going too far. ginger & pimento are present and balance out the sweetness/tartness, but the mango is still most prominent. hoping the sillage improves because right out the box it’s basically a skin scent. hoping to pair this with topless tangerine body butter & take this to creamsicle level (the girls that get it, get it) edit: finished my travel spray, and its projection/longevity def improved. prob won’t repurchase until my next tropical vacay

This is intensely mango. In the initial spray it smells a little stinky to my nose like fruit going bad. As it wears you smell less of that but also less of the mango overall. That’s more when I enjoy this fragrance. If I use the Mango Mood body spray it sweetens it up which I prefer. Overall I like this but I wish it was more gourmand and for a tropical fruity scent I much prefer Elis Brooklyn Sunfruit.

This reminds me of Poison Girl but her worldlier still fun big sister. Smells like a dreamsicle (orange/vanilla ice cream for those who don't know) but there's more going on in the background. A slight alcoholic drink vibe (the agave nectar I'm guessing) but nothing too boozy. Powdery/musky warm finish that I surprisingly like. This isn't bad as the first scent I've tried from Brown Girl Jane.

The reminds me of section is all over the place. Hermès Eau Ginger? Anywho this is a creamy mango amber scent. I like it a lot, unfortunately not enough to purchase a full bottle. My travel spray is enough to last me thru summer vacations as that is the only time I can see my self wearing this scent as it is very tropical.

I blind bought this, excited for that “tropics in a bottle” aroma. On my skin and to my nose, this smells a bit too similar to Commodity Milk. I love Commodity Milk and I like Carnivale but it does give the juicy fruit I was expecting.

I have to get a Full Size Bottle of this! This Perfume is so Fruity; Sweet; Spicy; Sexy; Creamy and Instantly brought a Smile to my Face. The Mango in this is beautiful. Very well balanced perfect for Spring and Summer.

I love the scent, but unfortunately, it has no protection or longevity! Bath and Body Works sprays last longer.

Received my travel spray in the mail today. Opened the package, sniffed the nozzle and immediately thought this smelled like candy- way too sweet for me. But I wanted to give it the benefit of the double, so I unscrewed the nozzle and sniffed the perfume directly out of the bottle. This was definitely less sweet and more fruit forward, which was a relief. I then dabbed some of it on my hand again got the cloying scent I smelled on the nozzle mixed with the fruity scent I got from the bottle. The fruitiness was okay, but the sweetness was too much. I decided to let it dry down and see if that was any better. After about 15 minutes, I’m left with a nondescript, slightly powdery sugary scent very close to the skin. Minimal projection and no sillage to speak of. I don’t hate it, but I don’t particularly like it either. I bought it to be a tropical scent, and in that regard, I am thoroughly disappointed. The fruitiness lasts only a fee minutes and then I’m left with something akin to cotton candy with something I can’t describe in the background. I don’t get pimento or sandalwood. I’m sad to say that I will not be keeping this.

i thought i was going to love this perfume but unfortunately it’s doing what cruz del sur ii did in that it smells generically tropical instead of like mango. i wanted just picked ripened juicy mango but im not getting that. i was also hoping for something spicier in the dry down with the ginger and pimento but im not getting that either. overall it’s disappointing, but not a bad perfume. pleasant but nothing special

I bought 3 BGJ perfumes. I adore casino. It’s the coffee scent of my dreams. I like carousel. But this one smells like a hair product or hair spray to me. I don’t get any particular notes just a general sweetness with a hairspray hair product vibe. I wished I loved it but this is a pass for me. Many like it so test with your own nose.

I thought this would be an instant love for me! My favorite kinds of scents are tropical ones and I ADORE mango! But it's the spicy, cloying drydown that ruins this fragrance for me! I am beginning to realise ginger is not for me and that hot peppers should never be a perfume note! Nope, no thank you....

The mango in this is very short-lived. It's really nice and fruity in the beginning, but not in a childish way. It pretty much dries down to an ambery musk that can be mistaken for any other perfume. Not great if you're looking forward to the mango (I was).

I simply smell creamy mango. The mango and vanilla are working together. My nose doesn't pick up on any spice from the pimento or ginger as I'd hoped. Still want to experiment with more from this brand, this one just didn't wow me.

I bought this for a birthday gift to myself and ended up hating it. I expected juicy mango and fruit, some warm and sweet vanilla. It smelled cold and alcoholic to me :( I ended up giving away what I had it was terrible.

This is such a beautiful fragrance but the lasting power is trash. I bet 1 hour max. Cheap body sprays last longer. If it had been longevity and Sillage it would be the perfect summer easy reach

I don't really care for this scent, I like very feminine scents. This is fruity sweet, but there is something about this that has a faint masculine touch.

I know there's a troll on here that harrasses every Blk owned brand or Blk artistic director, but this is a no for me. Ive officially tried all 7 of their fragrances. All SEVEN are a no. This brand and my nose dont get along. I need for umph. This is blah. This barely smells like anything. Per usual after 15 minutes its less than a skin scent. This is like dry body spray. Clean brands and me dont pair. I need more Va Va VROOM that the chemicals give me. If you leave a negative review about them on their social media, they block you. They only accept positive feed back on their site. The reviews there are rigged.

Opens bright, beautiful, and tropical. This lasts for 15 - 30 minutes. Dries down to something sweet and non-descript. The drydown scent could literally be any $15 run-of-the-mill fragrance. I wish the opening lasted longer or the drydown left something more interesting behind.

I can't quite put finger on what this smells like, but it's giving me "Avon Catalogue Circa 2000s" vibes. It smells really cheap, like a 99p body-spray, or a really badly made amateur job that front loads the entire opening with a single screechy, plastic-like, faux-tropical note along with all the immediately evaporating alcohol. Then, ten minutes later you go from nasty, Tesco/Walmart basic orange & mango cordial, in a cloud of hand sanitiser, to the thankfully almost - but not entirely disappeared - kind of smell that makes me think of cheap kids stationery sets. Thankfully I didn't even have to bother testing this on myself. I had the pleasure of being stood next to someone who drenched themselves in half a bottle of the stuff. There are far classier tropical scented fragrances out there. Avoid this Glade air-freshener tat.

I love BGJ, I love supporting businesses of color, and this summer I want my scent profiles to be fruity, lactonic, floral, and sweet with a hint of wood and Carnivale delivered. I literally was looking for a perfume that emulated a Mango Laasi for summer and Carnivale is a juicy, spicy, warm Mango Laasi with a bit of sexinesss from the Jasmine. This is such a fresh photorealistic Mango, very bright and sweet in the top with the addition of the nectar note and a little headiness from the Jasmine. I don't usually like Ginger in fragrance but this paired with amber and musk in the middle grounds the sweetness in the top and adds a delicious warmth and freshness to support the Mango. The Ginger here is rounded so it has a bit of sweetness as well, it adds elevation to the fragrance. The Vanilla and Sandalwood in the base really shine for me after the third or fourth hour. It becomes an absolutely sublime, creamy, decadent Vanilla with a whisper of the Mango; the Pimento berry isn't very fragrant for me here but adds a layer of warmth. I adore this perfume, I have the 10ml and I will be wearing it all summer. I would say projection is a little below average and the silliage is a little below moderate. People probably won't smell this on you unless they hug you or are standing next to you. Longevity is pretty good, I could smell it on my skin up to 7 hours. The beauty of this perfume is how it develops on the skin and transforms. Overall I highly reccommend this perfume if you are looking for a sweet creamy mango that's elevated, sophisticated, and sexy. This is a creamy fruity floral for grownfolks! Perfect Summer scent. PRO TIP: I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND layering BGJ's Dusk on top of Carnivale, the Almond Milk and Coconut Milk make the Mango so creamy, really brings out that "whipped" quality. Absolutely divine. I would also layer Casablanca on top of Carnivale for a creamy marshamllow Mango. *chef's kiss*

If it was just one random “black” named perfume I might chalk it up to being a chance of coincidence, but it’s not. I’ve seen it happen time and time again now to perfumes of black owned companies and by black perfumers, as well as some slick shit on gay owned perfume brands too. Get a life. Why are you even on a web forum about perfume if you don’t even care about perfume enough to let people use the site as intended? Some of us just want to know what certain fragrances smell like, and it’s hard to do that without imagining the musty ass basement of your mothers house that you undoubtedly dwell in. Take your lame ass over to X or Breitbart or Truth Social and go spew that trash over there.

Ima have to let this one sit. I got a travel size from the Sephora sale to try it out. At first spritz, it smells like glade room spray.... Mango glade room spray. As it dies down the musk and spicy notes come through more, but it is the opening of this that has me rethinking my purchase. I have two from this house that I adore (Casablanca and Dawn) and also plan to add two more (Dare and Dusk). This one may just need to sit, but as of now it’s giving bathroom air freshener to me.

Someone must have added all the Tom Ford and dark fragrances to “this smells like” as a joke. this is a fluffy mango scent. It starts off as mango and whipped cream and settles on a bed of musk and amber to me. It’s uncomplicated but doesn’t smell childlike or have body spray vibes. Very feminine, light and pretty. Perfect for summer without being loud.

Juicy mango mixed with musk, Jasmine and vanilla. Perfect summer scent. I wanted it for so long but Sephora could never keep it in stock until recently. I don't like that they only sell 50 ml and travel sizes. It projects well and the longevity surprised me. 4-5 hours on skin.

This is a SUMMER scent. ☀️ Pina coladas, coconut, creamy, floral, musk... It has presence but isn’t overwhelming. Longevity is not great on this, an hour later it becomes a skin scent, but still a favorite of mine.

This was faint on me so I oversprayed. The result was sweet tangerine gummy candy. When I didn’t overspray I got a warm, musky mango slice. Or a sun-baked Dole fruit cup.

i love this fragrance so much. to me, it smells like a sweet coconut cream. i thankfully don’t get much of the mango, but it’s a beautiful tropical fragrance!
