Casablanca

Absolutely love this one from Brown Girl Jane. I used up a purse spray quickly, then ordered the larger bottle, confident it would not go to waste. The suede and marshmallow combo is comforting, magnetic, soft and versatile. I don't know how they make the suede note come out in such weight with the others, really. People *complaining* this smells like new shoes or a jacket? That is one of the best smells on earth, I say! Quality packaging (no spills, unique 80s look, don't complain). I get a ton of compliments when I wear this. Sillage is mild to moderate - as in someone near you may need to lean in to breathe an extra whiff of this if they notice and like it. This lasts a good while but closer to half than full day. Sweet without being predictably gourmand. I haven't gone nose blind to it despite wearing it frequently. I feel like that speaks to a high quality.

What a lovely, captivating, warm spicy, enveloping scent! It reminds me of a soft cashmere sweater by the fire in the winter. It's not too sweet or too heavy. It has a refined vibe. At the same time it has an energizing quality that gives a confidence boost. Nothing very original but done so well. It has a similar vibe to Velvet Fire by Harmonist, but it's easier to wear. I've also smelled it side by side with Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf and it's in the same ballpark. I can wear it during daytime and in the evening. It's my favorite scent from this line. I recommend it.

I purchased this a couple months ago and it’s been a favorite of mine since. There is something feminine, spiced, creamy, and pretty about this perfume. Definitely suits colder weather but I’ve been favoring it while it’s warmer too. I usually don’t care for leather/suede notes but this perfume wouldn’t be what it is without the suede. Unfortunately, this was the only scent for me worth buying from the brand. Carnivale is also a contender but the performance isn’t there on my skin.

I Love It. That’s it. That’s all. It’s Sweet; Powdery; Spicy and I definitely get the Suede note. It’s sort of hard to explain for Me but not in a bad way. As a Gourmand Girly to my nose this Fragrance is the Perfect bit of Sweet to satisfy my Sweet Tooth but also there’s this note that makes it very much “Adult” like. The Marshmallow is present but not the star. I love it from the initial spray to the dry down. I just wish it lasted a tad bit longer. It’s stunning to Me.

In the pursuit of finding the perfect vanilla perfume for me I bought this perfume on a blind buy and it’s perfect. Despite all the notes this is just a fluffy Smokey marshmallow perfume that layers well with other perfumes. the only downside of this perfume is that it doesn’t last very long. But if you’re looking for an everyday quick vanilla perfume this is it.

Got a lil nervous for a second thinking I smelled benzoin; relieved to call a false alarm. Moreish smoky/sweet. That jump scare had me second guessing my full bottle (post tester) for about 5 mins. Radiates in about hugging distance, but smells oh so good. I’m a sucker for oriental varieties so I had to have this and happy I do. Layers nicely.

Wow, opens as a soft suede but as the side fades away turns into a marshmallow cotton candy vibe. It reminds me of Princess meets Petite Robe Noir in the drydown. Just wish it would last on me longer.

I can't get enough. I get stopped every time I've worn this and the marshmallow is done in such an elegant way. Lasts all day and night on my skin, which is unique for a "clean" brand.

This is so good! It's kinda like if Mariah Carey's "M" was less floral and more flirty/girly.

So, this perfume manages to be sweet without being juvenile. The marshmallow, slightly boozy opening is made sophisticated by the incense, amber and, on me, the drydown has this whisper of smokiness, which I usually don't like, but it works here. I ordered 1.7 oz and received a 1 oz gift bottle, which is pretty generous. It arrives nicely packaged in a big pink box. My only criticism is that that sprayer is difficult, gets stuck and that's annoying. But the juice in the bottle is quite lovely. Smells like a vanilla dessert cocktail set on fire..Yummy... I would order again. 5/10 performance (edited) 8/10 overall EDIT- Harper's Bazaar touted this as a perfume that never needed a re-application....they lied. Expect to spritz every 3-4 hours, if not more often. It doesn't even last on clothes. Re-thinking a repurchase because of the rather poor performance.

This is a very unique fragrance to me . I just get suede, marshmallows and cosmetic powder. it truly reminds me of a new purse or new pair of shoes, but it’s sweet and powdery as well. I wear it at home and can’t stop smelling myself but I never choose to wear it out . I find I’m almost torn , do I like it as a perfume ? I love the sweetness of it , and I’m intrigued by the suede , I think maybe that’s the note which keeps me from wearing it out? . I really like brown girl Jane , very well made scents .

Pleasant soft suede and marshmallow. While a technically simple fragrance, leather makes it interesting. It’s like a new purse or shoes. I don’t find it overpowering though. I see that both Killian’s Princess and YSL’s Black Opium are listed as fragrances this smells like. I will say that I don’t really feel like this smells too much like either, but it does have the same “vibe” as both of those. One would only need to own one of the three.

Agree with reviewers stating the initial blast has a medicinal or camphor like quality. I am assuming it’s green cardamom and incense. I don’t love it but it goes away fairly fast. I like this, but it is similar to black opium, particularly the illicit green flanker which has a green/fig quality to it. Not sure yet how much I need to keep this or if it’s just redundant in my collection.

The I initial spray of this is super powdery and almost wet on me, which I believe is most of the suede coming through. I’m definitely a gourmand girl, so I was hoping for a bit more sweetness, but the dry down is what has me coming back. It’s definitely starts to lean more cardamom and vanilla forward once dry. I really like how it layers with Love, Don’t be Shy or Dulce by Rosie Jane

This gives the vibe of a sweet lady with a little bit of sex-appeal. Definitely something I’d wear on date night for sure. I get creamy and cozy from the suede and sandalwood. The vanilla orchard stands out to my nose because it resembles the traditional vanilla but with that slight floral touch. I wish this lasted longer. The projection is ok. One to add to my collection.

Very sweet and powdery, borderline “too sweet” but fortunately it’s neither long lasting nor powerful so it fades before inducing a headache. It reminds me of a much softer “sensual amber” by b&bw and I’m going to try to layer with the lotion to get more out of this fragrance (and less of the powdery dry down). I think it’s a better fit for cold weather

I got a sample of this, and it was making me crazy because it smells so familiar. I finally realized it smells dead-on like Lolita Lempicka from the early 2000s! It smells nice, but a bit too sweet and headache inducing. Definitely a “young” scent, I can’t pull it off as someone on the other side of 35.

Lovely warm, comforting fragrance. At first when I sprayed it on paper I didn't really like it. But then I tried it on my skin and it smelled beautiful. I really shouldn't trust paper!

I really wish this would project even a tiny bit more and last a lot longer - because I fancy the fragrance of Sweet Skin -

This is an interesting fragrance. The suede note is done well. It's mysterious and smoky. However, this note is a tad bit too dominant, causing the perfume to come dangerously close to smelling like a box of new leather shoes. The other attractive elements, like the fuzzy marshmallow, soft dusty sandalwood, amber and pink florals remain hidden behind this front and center suede note. If this note were to be dialed down a little and the other notes amped up, this would be a more wearable perfume. Please reformulate this, because it has the potential to be a perfect fragrance. Smell: 6 out of 10 Strength: 7 out of 10 Leans more feminine For reference, I'm female.

Ambiguously gourmand suede/clean linens. More “warm” than “clean”. Unfortunately I get absolutely no marshmallow. Maybe the suede + mild gourmand sweetness is supposed to read as marshmallow. Not a statement scent. I’m looking forward to wearing this during the early fall. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EDIT: after some maceration I got blasted by gooey golden marshmallow when I sprayed this. followed by my initial review. delectable, but the maceration thing is annoying.

I don't know why exactly, but this kind of smells like one of those ice cream shops that make their own waffle cones - sweet and a bit toasty, like stray drops of batter burning away on the iron. I feel like I smell licorice also...? I can understand the Lolita Lempicka comparison, though it's been years since I had a whiff of it. I don't mind Casablanca, but I'm not sure it's a keeper in my case.

For one reason or another this just smells like Black Opium to me with some marshmallows mixed in. It's way too "perfumey" and a little nauseating if I'm honest. Totally expected something different from the notes - something fluffy and soft and a little gourmand but I just get generic mall perfume department smell. It's an unfortunate miss for me. 2/10

This scent is so soft you could put it on a baby. It lasted about 30 minutes on my skin. It is a true true skin scent. I think it would be good to wear to bed. Its so soft probably not even a Blood hound dog could pick it up. Crowd pleasing and almost non existent.

Smells like a Princess / Black Opium hybrid. I don’t hate it, but I don’t think I’m too crazy about it either.

Suede and marshmallow with very weak sillage and longevity.

I love marshmallow fragrances so I was hoping I would love this but unfortunately I don’t. Initially I get a blast of a very distinct medicine I used to take as a child. It settles and you’re left with powdery version of that medicine. Over time some of the florals start to come out but in a soft subtle way. I can still smell the medicine lingering in the background. Even without that note it’s a little too girly for my taste. I imagine it would smell nice on someone else though.

This reads like a hookah lounge after drinks rather than a clean perfume. Sweet fruit, spice, and amber combine into something smoky and syrupy. In my furniture metaphor this behaves like comforter-heavy construction, where the warm resins and sweetness dominate the structure. The result is dense rather than breathable.

this pulls extremely medical on my skin. all I smell is dental office yet something keeps pulling me in for another sniff. I can't decide if I'm here for it or not. there is something that interests me but I can't put my finger on it.

I really wanted to love this but it was literally a scrubber. It made me nauseous, not cloying but something about that suede note didn’t mix with the marshmallow. I smelled like the inside of a new used car.

I’ve tried a few Brown Girl Jane perfumes & this is my least favorite. I’m not getting any spicy notes. To me it smells like a new box of suede shoes & a hint of cardamom. I spray it on the leather seats of my car cause I couldn’t imagine wearing this myself

I bought this blind from the notes (LOVE!) but it disappointed me. Weak, average.... just really nothing to review- so I didn't. (Overpriced too, and meh/cheap bottles) I needed a "nothing" perfume for daytime, and wore this about 6 months after I first bought. INSANE lasting and sillage. Let it rest after shipping/purchase. Let it mature, as much as that blows. I was so impressed with the scent/brand, I have Casino and Carousel coming in travel pens. I am still not ready to review the actual smell/notes of Casablanca, lmao. July wear- no sillage again. This perfume must hate the heat/warm climate. That zapped my sillage. Save for winter.

This smells like cherry to me for some reason even though it's not listed in the notes. I'm disappointed since I was hoping for something with a Kilian Princess type DNA. That said, it's not an offensive or disgusting (cough syrup) cherry. It's a powdery and spiced cherry. Smells very grown up. It's not very sweet so this could be ok even if you don't love gourmands. It's nice, just not at all what I was expecting given the notes listed. Definitely sample before buying.

Have you ever bought a new pair of shoes and the smell of them is strong? That’s what Casablanca smells like, but in the best way. I can decipher the marshmallow and cherry from the suede and the leather. I don’t know how they did it but they got the sweet to mesh smoothly with the other notes. This is what I wanted Love Don’t Be Shy to be honestly. It’s a love for me.

Sometimes I think this site is just wrong with the notes and the perfumes that are similar to in no shape or form. Does this smell similar to Palo Santo completely different. I get red apple and a slight boozy to thisand I also smell the vanilla orchid. it’s a musky woody. With a slight touch of sweetness from the Amber maybe

ordered this based on the notes and then read reviews and saw a handful of negative reviews and instantly regretted this. But as soon as I got it and sprayed it, I LOVED IT. this is so beautiful and sophisticated I'd think this bottle costs a lot more than it does. love this 1000/10

Utterly nauseating. On me this smells like suede and sunscreen, and makes me gag. I really didn't like this and the notes (that make it sound like a chai tea) really don't line up. Also, this has glitter in it.

The marshmallow is delicious but that suede note is downright offensive. Luckily it fades/softens very quickly (within a minute or two) and you’re left with a generic, sweet, very wearable fragrance.

This is like a mix of Killian's Princess and Phlur Not Your Baby. Sweet. Soft. Lightly floral. I love it. It had good longevity on me. This is a great buy!

The opening is so sexy, fluffy marshmallow with a smooth suede note but unfortunately dries down very quickly to a generic powdery scent

This one is the best out of them I’ve smelled so far but it’s very similar to Kilian Princess- Princess is a bit better though

This is what Bharara Pink Marshmallow smells like! Absolutely gorgeous!
