High Tea

As with all fragrances, I recommend testing this on skin before making any strong opinions about this scent. My skin doesn’t get along with a lot of scents from this house (they smell amazing on tested strips but questionable on my skin) and this is the first winner! I am not getting the strong orange blossom scent the same way some other people are, and this comes from someone that is very sensitive to orange blossom in perfumes. I get the “essence” of orange blossom very early on in the scent’s life cycle but it’s nowhere near as cloying or overwhelming the way that it is in Prada Paradoxe or Love Don’t Be Shy, so keep that in mind before completely writing this scent off. It’s more light and tart than heavy and sweet. On me, it’s creamy, soft, and feminine - during the dry down I catch whiffs of a tea note even though it’s not listed as a note anywhere. Even though I wouldn’t label this as a true gourmand, I can smell the notes that would give off the impression of sitting NEAR a bakery vs IN a bakery. Like if you were to walk by a patio table at a bakery where someone has a plate of macarons and an iced tea and the wind pushes its scent in your direction. Overall it’s VERY pretty and I can’t wait to buy a full size bottle!!

High Tea opens like golden hour in a sun-drenched garden party. Zesty orange and freesia meet the buttery sweetness of a madeleine, instantly cozy but elevated. At the heart is warm milk (light, soft, and nostalgic—NOT heavy, think more whipped cream than whole milk). The dry-down is where the magic lingers. Amber and sandalwood wrap you in a creamy warmth that feels like Sunday morning in silk pajamas. I don’t know how else to describe it. It’s giving minimalist luxury, comfort with a twist, and quiet confidence. Think dessert, but make it chic. I will add that the inclusion of a chai biscuit note nods to the richness of Indian cuisine, a vital, beloved thread in the fabric of London culture. ♥

Every newer scent I try from Brown Girl Jane hits just right on me and I love the pale pink bottles even though some people are not into that design. Kind of gives an 80s vibe to me. Anyway. This is the 4th one I've tried. (Have the purse spray.) On me? High Tea is blooming freesia, spiced orange and sandalwood-amber warmth coming through after the dry down. I don't get a "millky" note, and wouldn't say this has a "madeleine" note - because it is a touch spicier than those yellow vanilla cookies of Proustian fame. Moderate sillage, moderate longevity on my skin. Lasts longer if I put an unscented lotion on first then spray. Is that a thing? Beautiful.

I don't understand people calling this a gourmand and I think that it's leading people astray. This is a soft, ultra-feminine floral amber. If you are wanting photo-realistic cakes, sweets, and chia tea.....this is not it. This takes those notes and elevates them into a sophisticated fragrance. I get a very prominent orange blossom, which I absolutely love, mixed with gentle sweet, spiced chai and vanilla. You definitely notice the powdery softness of the freesia and the milky note. The drydown is ambery and a creamy sandalwood. This is a gorgeous scent for when you want to feel feminine and pretty.

I definitely see the Paradoxe and Born in Roma comparisons. This is such a great fragrance. It is a bright, it is sweet, a little creamy, and has a lot of modern floral. It is super feminine, pink, and flirty. I don’t get Chai tea from it, but I do get a jasmine or oolong kind of tea from this. The amber warms everything up. It is well blended, but can still pick out the parts. This would be a great signature fragrance. It is year round, day, and night. I could see most ages wearing this perfume. It isn’t old nor is it juvenile.

To me this has a mass appealing, clean but fruity scent profile. Despite the gourmand note composition it's not cloying in any way. It's soft, pretty, feminine and so well blended that I didn't pick out one main accord or note as the star of the show. While this is a perfect understated floral to wear out for tea and pastries, it wasn't meant to smell exactly like "tea" which I think caught some people off guard after seeing the name. Anyway, it was love at first sniff for me and I ordered immediately after sampling.

Brown Girl Jane, at it again! I swear, this brand doesn't miss for me. I've loved Carnivale, and I really enjoy Casino, High Tea is like the daytime, weekend sister to those fragrances. It's light, fresh, fruity without being too sweet, a very easy wear. I don't think it's sultry enough for nighttime for my taste (I'm currently swooning over Chris Collins' Lust for evenings or nights out) but High Tea is definitely going to become one of my daily wears for the warmer months.

You had me at macaroons, France’s greatest achievement to “me-kind.” This fragrance is a lovely, sweet pastry delight. I was wary because tea doesn’t fit my scent profile, but I quickly learned that the name wasn’t literal, but a scene or theme. It smells how Brigderton looks. I love this. The Sillage and longevity are moderate, it’s not too loud or screechy and I thoroughly enjoyed my scent bubble.

Creamy warm, milky chai. I'm picking up all of that. I get the orange blossom, but it's not as strong on my skin. This scent sticks closer to my skin and clothes. I love this. It's real tea and Madeleine cookies on me. I'm not getting any whiff of citrus in the opening. The notes in this site highlight citrus, but that is not correct imo. I only get citrus on the paper tester.

I really like this! It reminds me of Burberry Goddess without the lavender note. The name is a little misleading because it isn't really a gourmand- it's not super sweet or edible, more of a lightly spiced vanilla with a touch of floral and fruit. I'm surprised by how much I like it since I usually don't go for vanilla-forward fragrances! I think it could be worn year round.

This is my first BGJ perfume and I am impressed! I definitely get the comparisons to DBIR and Paradoxe, but there’s something a bit more soft and creamy to High Tea. Orange blossom water, and chai are the notes that stand out most to me. It’s blended very well, and the performance is good. I did one spray on the back of my hand and I was able to smell it throughout the day.

This scent is amazing. It’s very well blended. I’m not a white floral person but the floral notes in here blend very well with the gourmand and other notes so beautifully. To me this is a creamy and warm scent. I am a big fan of this brand and I own a lot of full size bottles. My full bottle of this one is on its way and I’m very happy to have it join my collection.

This doesn't really smell LIKE high tea to me, but it absolutely smells the way I would imagine the fanciest person AT high tea to smell. I was initially disappointed, because I was looking for something more gourmand. But once I got past that, I really love it for what it is.

Spicy, sweet, gourmand. Very likable. Easy grab. Probably would be great for layering. Smells delicious and I can see myself wearing this before a play date but this is not signature scent worthy nor is this very special. It’s close though, which is why I think layering this with something more unique would make this outstanding. But this scent unfortunately, while crowd pleasing, is just that. It’s the “I want everyone to like me” fragrance. I’ll finish my decant and potentially purchase a bottle but this scent doesn’t match who I am, nor who I want to be these days.

First let me say that I’ve loved every Brown Girl Jane scent I’ve ever smelled! Dawn is in my top 3 most favorite scents ever! So I really wanted to love High Tea. And it’s good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s also very familiar! This smells like an exact dupe of Phlur’s Golden Rule or like Prada’s Paradoxe! Also a similar smell dna as Donna Born in Roma. Bottom line...it’s a fun, juicy scent with a touch of cookies, but if you already have Golden Rule or Paradoxe, this will be redundant.

To me this is super floral and orangey and does have similar vibe to Prada paradoxe intense when first sprayed. However, I find it different enough in the dry down - high tea is much creamier and vanilla than Prada paradoxe intense to me. I layered this with Diptyque L’eau Papier and it’s very soft and cozy. My first BGJ fragrance and I’m impressed! Looking forward to trying more.

Not saying they smell the same, BUT if you’re looking for a Valaya type scent (bright, crisp) but she went screechy on your skin 🙋🏻♀️, try this. It might just scratch the itch for you!

I feel like this could be a flanker to Si Fiori...I like it very much:)
