Freak Chic – Extrait de Parfum

Have you ever wondered what a rose perfume that’s perfect for going out partying should smell like? The answer is right here in front of you, and you’ll find it in Freak Chick. I should clarify that this review refers to the perfume in extrait concentration, but since there isn’t a profile created on the platform, I’m adding it here in the one for the pure perfume. Freak Chick starts off strong from the very beginning. An opening with apple and passion fruit that comes in ready for action. At the heart, the rose—a powerful, no-nonsense rose. This isn’t a subtle, elegant Taif rose; this is a rose seen through the eyes of Miguel Matos, and like everything this genius perfumer does, it’s bold, challenging, groundbreaking, and a little scandalous. This rose is well accompanied by aromatic notes of chamomile over a base of beeswax that creates a sweet and animalic veil, somewhat containing the previous olfactory explosion, like a bee placing a tiny drop of honey in the center of a beautiful velvety red rose. The base, with musk, patchouli, and oakmoss, is intense. But in the dry-down, it’s not just that; the best comes during the dry-down. As the perfume dries, the raspberry begins to appear. A fairly synthetic but beautiful raspberry, and once again, loud and shrill, reminiscent more of a raspberry chewing gum aroma. And this is where, for me, the fragrance becomes magical. That chewy scent blends with the previous floral, fruity, and musky mixture, creating a fragrance that is a true BOMB and, moreover, lasts almost indefinitely on the skin (Obviously it's an exaggeration, but from my own experience, I can assure you that if you leave the house around 9 PM with the perfume and come back around 7 AM, you'll still be able to notice it without any problem). Freak Chic is not an elegant perfume, nor is it a fragrance I would recommend for going to work or for everyday use. Freak Chic is a perfume that seeks to attract attention, to make you the center of attention and turn heads wherever you go. And above all, it seeks to smell good, very good, because if there is one thing Freak Chic has, it is that it really smells amazing. In general, I'm not a big fan of rose perfumes. I like that note, but it is so intense that in many cases it overshadows everything around it, like the typical school bully, so that many perfumes end up smelling similar. And when used as a supporting note, it doesn’t always give the effect I like most. But in this case I can say that I have found a rose perfume that is completely unique and that I love. A perfume where the rose shines in a totally novel and magical way.
