Musc Gold – Extrait de Parfum

Musc Gold Extrait is a lovely flanker of sorts to the original Musc, with difference being an emphasis on a sharp green neroli, lavender aromatics, honeyed sweetness and violet ionones. It's really quite enthralling, but since I have a hearty helping of the Musc Parfum, and I prefer its more fusty-mushroomy earthy qualities, I will limit my enjoyment of Musc Gold Extrait to the generous sample provided by Bruno Acampora.

Gorgeous, easy to wear, persistent musk extrait. The patchouli note comes out softly in the dry down. All the florals are here too, but the blend is beautifully mixed and I have trouble picking out the notes individually. It’s a sweet musk bouquet. Heavenly. my head is in the clouds. So good. Love it for mild spring days. This is the spray extrait.

I find this to be quite masculine-leaning. My skin is really amplifying the patchouli x1000, such that it is the dominant experience, almost from the first contact. I also feel like there is an animal sweat facet lurking within. I get a little lavender but no other florals at all, no sweetness/vanilla/honey. The muskiness doesn't come forth until hours later. This is not for me! I feel like it is probably well composed, but just my skin chemistry is wreaking havoc.

Mushroom, soil, a few scary minutes that make you think you bought eau of dirty mop. Then, after you have lost hope that this can smell good...it develops a very comforting musk, it has floral touches, mostly neroli and violet, feels fluffy and only slightly sweet. Sample it first. Let it develop.
