Burn Inside

*Heavy sigh* Alright, I am going to share my honest thoughts. I tested this fragrance without looking it up first-- I just went in blind and hopeful. What I encountered was a wild and chaotic ride that vacillated between positive and negative reactions, intrigue and revulsion, and ultimately settled on the sad conclusion that this fragrance is the product of a very passionate but probably inexperienced perfumer. There's some foundational knowledge and technical skill in the perfume-making craft that seems to be missing. I've encountered this many times before, ESPECIALLY after the pandemic, when low-skill fragrances exploded in the market. The result is a perfume with a cacophony of notes that are the olfactory equivalent of one hand playing a proper piano chord, while the other smashes random keys. I hope that any perfumer who wants to be truly great is willing to take the hits that come with learning and perfecting a truly difficult craft and continually improve. This fragrance, however, belongs in that enormous stack of trial-and-error compositions that every perfumer goes through on their journey to true artistic excellence, and not in the perfume marketplace. Edit: I tried one more time, picking a sample at random and trying on my skin blind, and it is a bigger no than the first time. Sad, but I wanted to give it one more totally fair shot.
