Brut Special Reserve

Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 004 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased May 2017 Part 1 Brut is the obvious choice for all ages. I tested out the talc of this, was my dad's, and immediately fell in love. I already had worn Boss for a while and became glued to Axe/Lynx. Brut transformed all possibilities, to keep it short. Without that, I'd probably be that stinky deodorant guy smelling the same everyday in all situations. That's not nice. But nowadays even Brut has a slight stank to it, when it gets sweaty. Everybody knows it. It's the first affordable fresh/clean scent. Not so clean anymore, but you have to understand the period it was invented in. Today it ends up becoming a little muggy feeling after lingering much of the day as it gets warmer, but I'll always wear it when something simple and dumb reach calls. Reminds me of my old days for sure and that's a big reason why I keep a bottle in my stable at all times. Super wearable, fuck-you-it's-cheap fragrance. There's more poetic ways of discussing Brut but I don't have all day here either. The bottle I have is by Idelle Labs, Ltd. (with the medallion in a clear glass painted green that chips away over time). It's my favourite only because they don't let us have the early 2000s/original version from much earlier. My second most used Brut is the rectangular art deco looking one with a curvy waste by Parfums Prestige/Unilever. There's also a new one in the Special Reserve bottle, but better quality manufacturing/design also made by Parfums Prestige. That one currently smells like Avon Wild Country. If you can't find that, just get Wild Country if you're mad for Brut. BUT there also is a new Faberge bottle in the Special Reserve design from India on Ebay right now. It's about $50, quite pricey but I'll have it sooner than later. Hopefully it combines the Special Reserve and the newer Parfums Prestige (in the same bottle) with staying power of the new bottle. This is all confusing but if you're a Brut fan and need clarification, send me a PM.

I can understand the frustration with reformulation, repackaging, and potential cheapening of beloved classics, but I don't think it helps the fragrance world to speculate. I'm no Brut expert, but I do have a wallet-crippling fragrance addiction, and I landed here while looking around for potential candidates for my next purchase. I was a bit shocked to see SPNKr's comment below mentioning alleged cancer risks with the new formulation of this (SPNKr's other comments across Fragrantica have been immensely useful and fun for the record). I did some research and now feel cosmically compelled to mention that the new, bricky bottle made in Mexico does not contain any ingredients classified as carcinogens in the USA or EU. I went through each ingredient listed, of which there are only three after the standard alcohol, fragrance, and water. The only ingredient likely to have been mistaken as a carcinogen is BHT, an antioxidant chemical found in a lot of packaged foods and cosmetics. In long term studies, they apparently blast-fed it to rodents and concluded that, in rodents, ingesting extremely high levels of BHT over a prolonged period of time led to liver issues and, in some cases, liver tumors. That said, there are no studies linking BHT to cancer risks in humans, and I think we can all agree not to drink our fragrances. I should mention that BHT is in a bajillion fragrances, like Terre d'Hermes EdT, Loewe Essencia, Drakkar Noir, Dior Fahrenheit, and even the Parfums Prestige Brut EdT. My only other guess is that the original person making the allegation somehow mistook this new bottle for the deodorant spray that was recalled some years back for containing benzene: a carcinogen. Now, with my conscience clear, I am back to searching for the next bottle to set my wallet alight, which might even be this one!

WARNING: Apparently the above, new, rectangular shitty looking product called Brut - For Men of Character [Long-Lasting Scent] is not what it's supposed to be. It's apparently different. Allegedly contains an ingredient that causes cancer. Changed my mind immediately. If people talk about this enough they'll change all this bullshit. Don't make me go without Brut, or I'll seek out a clone and no corporation likes their customers ditching for alternatives. Also that above bottle is made in Mexico, that alone changes everything. It's like my passion for India's Denver Hamilton Honour deodorant. The fragrance spray doesn't smell as good as it, it also performs poorly. It's as if Denver deodorant is actually the fragrance and the perfume is the deodorant instead. These countries, when the parent brand lands ho and starts manufacturing using the local labour force, do not end up ever making products of the same quality and calibre of the original manufacturing plants, its employees and original established product in market/country of origin. So I'm gonna skip on the above ugly bottle and go for the new/recent Indian market Faberge Brut Classic in the Special Reserve bottle we all know and love. Seems like it could be as promising as the Parfums Prestige Brut in that same Special Reserve bottle (I've talked about this, that PP version smells like Avon Wild Country and PP Brut in the Victorian/art deco curved bottle with black ribbed cap (which I must say is quite champagney and not as green as Special Reserve). I finally am able to get this Faberge Brut Classic, so I'll be back. Been talking about this moment for about 9 months.

I'm time traveling through perfume memories tonight. It's funny reading that the old Brut was a typical 'aromatic fougere'. I just remember it as musk. When I was a young girl I think, wistfully now that I have learned that animal musk comes from the death of a little deer, that many beautiful perfumes had some animal or at least nitro musk in them. They say that the plasterwork of ancient villas still smells of deer musk because they mixed it into the mortar. Whatever, the smell of Brut back in the sixties and seventies was enough to send me into orbit. I do have some real deer musk, a tiny smear inside a vial that is so incredible and haunting in its beauty that one can believe that empires rose and fell because of it. The Brut of the last couple of decades just isn't it. The old Brut had a way of mixing with the scent of a hormonal young male that was earth shifting. It had a sort of sweetness. The old cheap Dana perfume Ambush was a close cousin and is just as unforgettable. Well, that's it for my memories of Brut. You'd think someone would bottle it again.

This is the true brut out of all the bruts that’s has remained supreme maintain most of that original Brut DNA. Absolutely stunning and doesn’t compare to the other brut bottles that I have. It really does have decent longevity and projection for the first 1-2 hours then it quickly dies off. Like you can’t smell it at all after. But if you dose yourself with like 20-25 sprays of this, it will be decent in longevity but only for the first hour or two. Regardless this is a masterpiece, I’m so glad my grandfather and father both really loved spraying this fragrance when I was a child and I’m so happy to carry on that tradition. Because it is a tradition, this scent is just priceless to me. Never stop making this brut and I don’t doubt they stop considering they’ve been making this DNA for the last 80 years or something. If you want the original brut dna with most longevity your best bet is this!

The soul-blood of modern metro men is hit with a proud memory of what he used to be, what he should be and what he can be again. The return of masculinity is upon us, balance restored, western civilisation rebuilds with pride, not nostalgia, but towards a future with purpose and masculine determination to reclaim all that has been taken, shelved, but never truly forgotten and certainly never lost. Brut heralds the return of man as manly man. Did you miss us? It's okay, we're back, though we never really did go away.

Imagine with me! Eternity, bright citrus fruits, green forests in spring, sunlight filtering through the leaves, and there are men in front of us wearing black youth suits and their hair shiny black, putting their hands in their pockets and burning something resembling a mixture of incense and evening. The scent won't attract women to you, and they won't fight over you; because the one who loves this scent will feel like a giant who doesn't care about anything that comes out of the mouths or minds of humans. He is simply Caesar, but without the throne or scepter. By the way, it doesn't smell like an old man; because your mind is unable to analyze what your nose smells.

Some people will call it dated and mentally associate it with an "old man smell" since they've likely smelled it on their dads, uncles or grandpas when growing up, but there's no denying that it really is a nice, fresh, masculine scent that is extremely pleasing to the senses. No matter how old it is, that doesn't change the fact the scent is really damn good. In fact, it gives off a really cool retro/bohemian/hipster/noir vibe which works quite well with today's contemporary styles. Old is new again, and if thats your mantra, I'd definitely give this one a shot.

Well, of course it's not mine! Papa, this smell is for Papa! My Papa loves this perfume very much. I grew up smelling the fragrance on my Papa. Other people my age don't like this that much, saying that this reminds them of old businessmen with cigars. I beg to differ. This scent brings back memories of my late dad.. But I've never associated this scent with cigar wielding old men. For me, it reminds me of polished men with a taste for the finer things in life - no matter what the age.

Purely nostalgic fragrance. I don't think any other fragrance to be more masculine frgnanace than brut. I own edt of brut by Unilever. very manly smelling. I don't know how others feel about this fragrance and I don't really care. on wearing this I feel much energetic. If you are a guy with confidence and live with your own style, it is for you.This is unique fragrance in my opinion.

well i used this when it first came out ...yes i am that old lol i still love it however it isn't as strong as it used to be but as a nice spritzer its unbeatable for the price plus i love the traditional Brut bottle which looks nice in my collection.i also have Brut prestige both will always be in my perfume wardrobe.....cant say fairer than that

Please read my Brut review for more information (I wrote it before Special Reserve was on the database)....however I will say here that this scent,as far as I am concerned, smells MUCH MORE like the vintage Brut I wore in Junior High. I love this scent, to me it smells like a clean, well-groomed, sexy but unpretentious man.

What is the official website for special reserve version. As I nowhere see it on the Unilever website. Only EDT version was given on that website. Who is the legit manufacturer of BRUT special reserve.

"Vintage" , just one word can describe this fragrance . Reminds me to my dad , decades ago . Very popular in the 90's as an after-shave smell . Recommend for gentlemen at 40 and above

My dad's perfume. I used to spray this to death when I was a little kid and loved it. The scent is very old school but also linked to good old memories. Nostalgic!!!!

Better and more beautiful than all the old versions of Brut. Buy only this one.

Timeless,perfect, masculine, you can't stop !!!!!

The opening of this is nostalgic. I don't remember exactly where or when, but I remember this scent. I get a minty fresh opening that's extremely pleasant, but since anise is listed, I bet that's a big part of what appeals to me. It has one of the most memorable and pleasing set of top notes of any men's fragrance, up there with Drakkar Noir, Eternity for Men, Santos de Cartier, Curve, and Dylan Blue. As it dries down, the fresh fougere seems to take on some oriental aspects, as it becomes a little heavy, and in my opinion, more appropriate for cold weather. It projects like a powerhouse. There's a strong powdery element, which is probably from the vanilla note that's listed in the base. It's really potent in the drydown and draws attention. It's almost a gourmand. I find the drydown to be very strong, very potent, and the vanilla in the base give it a powdery oriental/gourmand vibe, which are a hybrid of two genres that I'm not a fan of. That said, I like having it in my collection, and I think it's constructed beautifully. I find this powedery barbershop fougere more interesting than niche offerings in the same genre such as Tom Ford's Beau du Jour. ALTERNATIVES: While I have a soft spot in my heart for this fragrance, the dry down is too nuclear and too powdery for my tastes. Rive Gauche Pour Homme is a far more sedate take on this scent, but also less distinctive, imo. There's also the splash-on EDC and aftershave in the plastic bottle. It's a bit more muted, but something smells off in the dry down that makes it a bit unpleasant. Finally, there's the Brut anti-perspirant deodorant stick, dry version. I highly recommend this as being a good substitute for the actual EDT. It manages to be less powdery and sweet, and the distinctive top notes manage to linger throughout the duration of the scent. And it lasts for over 24 hours, where Old Spice can barely hang in there for 6. CONCLUSION: This is a classic of masculine perfumery, and I would go as far as to say it rivals niche brand releases of the same barbershop-fougere genre. I can think of better barbershops out there, but this is still one of the originals that still smells extremely pleasant. 7/10

An old carry-on bag that I used as a hold all when I moved offices during the pandemic lockdowns last year has, it embarrasses me to admit, sat untouched in the corner of my new office for more than a year. Today, I finally opened this bag and found, in addition to the expected assortment of pens, letter openers, staple removers and the like, my bottle of Brut Special Reserve Cologne. I decided to spray it on after a long day and I was at once reminded of my brother. When we were both in high school, my brother would wear Brut deodorant, aftershave and splash cologne--sometimes all at the same time. It has been nearly 4 decades since I last made my way to school enveloped in my brother's scent bubble, and the memories of those times are not uniformly plesant, but the smell of Brut SR certainly triggered a blast of nostalgia. Brut SR smells very much like the big, ballsy versions of the original Brut that lined pharmacy shelves in the late 1970s, which is when my brother's supply would have been purchased. That is to say that it is a distinctly retro, masculine fougere that opens with big hit of lavender (that stays around well into the dry down) and a licorice toned anise seed accented by basil and lemon. Immediately after application the anise, lemon, basil accord softens and, eventually gives way to some florals and a somewhat minty geranium note that emerge to accent the lingering lavender. The base has oakmoss, a musky accord and some patchouli as well as a grassy vetiver note. This stuff is the very essence of retro barbershop smells. It projects moderately and endures for a solid six hours on my skin. Like all versions of great old classic fragrances, there is something deserving of respect in a scent that has held on to a big market share for ages. This is an old scent for older men. It is very inexpensive at any number of retailers and as such, it is well worth adding to a collection as a reference point against which to judge mass market fragrances of the past and he present.

I like this as it brings back a lot of memories. This rendition is probably the best available version of "classic" Brut you can get. In my opinion it's a little bit stronger than the stuff that comes in the plastic bottles, but you mileage may vary. It opens with herbal, lavender, and bergamot notes with quite a bit of anise. About 30 minutes later it becomes more sweetly floral and a touch woody/mossy, which sticks around and fades slowly over the next 3-7 hours, becoming more mossy and vanillic/tonka-y until it completely fades away. This is one of those fragrances that people generally associate with über-masculinity and typically overpowering everyone within smelling distance. It may have been in the past, but it's not anymore. Although the current formulation is a shadow of its former self, it's still around, 50+ years later because it's a great fragrance. Because of its reputation you can expect to get compliments and inquiries that are enthusiastic up until the point you tell them you're wearing Brut, at which point a lot of people conjure up memories of smelling an entire bottle of Brut dumped on a sweaty jock after high school gym class circa 1982. One con, that's not really a con to me, is that it's difficult to over-apply; my technique to get decent life out of it is to apply 4-6 sprays, three times in layers. I'm currently on the 8th hour of wearing Special Reserve and it's still going relatively strong; a bit more than a skin scent. Buy a bottle, you've got nothing to lose.

This is the closest version to what Brut used to be back then. Obviously not “there” all the way – good to keep in mind that the destiny it got was to go down to a very mass-market distribution so there is stuff that needs to be watered down to fit the bill – obviously! Good thing is now the user can interfere in the course of destiny and spray more, more often, as much as needed... take the revenge acting within the budget. Original Brut for a guy born 70’s represents THAT scent from the fathers of most school buddies 😉 my own dad being more of a Tabac dad, left me Brut as a memory of being out, overnight weekends at friend’s place, sneak into the bathroom or the bedroom and smell THAT bottle. Sweet pseudo-transgressive incursion into the world of adults, something not meant to happen yet not entirely sinful or illegal. Still, evoking in one’s imagination the place of sin even before the realization of the concept, if you know what I mean (I hope you do!). Brut is sex before knowing sex, it is a powerful place we sense and just don’t know. Unharmed by memories, experiences, achievements or failures. Brut is tenderly and softly brutal. Much later on I came to know that this now-fallen-God is one of the architypes of fougere, with the inclusion of anise and geranium to place it in an out of the ordinary league. Do the anise and geranium still beat alive in nowadays formula? Well... well... use your imagination, you are no longer a child.

I wanted to try it to see what was so classic about it. It smells classic, and the most prominent note for me is the citrusy lavender. However, it is too synthetic for my taste and lasts next to nothing with the, I suppose, new watered-down formula. I got this because I owed it to myself to add to my collection such a nice classic fragrance, but I see this as a go to bed fragrance, which is just fine to me. The bottle is absolutely gorgeous and looks like a bottle of classic wine. The atomiser though... who thought of that. Looks horrible! Like a chinese knock-off! Finally, this is not unisex. Man above 40 only. I am currently 26 and feel like an impostor wearing this. It still feels classy though. It definetely has some weird aura to it. 6.75/10.

Night and day. This cologne has been sitting on my shelf for months. I first got it during the hot weather and when I wore it all I smelled was sour anise. I typically like the aromatic smell of anise, this however really didn't work for me. This morning the temps are below 40F. I put this on just to see if this will stay on the shelf or go down to the basement. It was an entirely different scent. The lavender came forward, as did the citrus, woods and tonka. Totally different cologne in the cool weather. I'm enjoying this a lot. Brut will stay upstairs for the winter. It's a good, short-lasting scent for right out of the shower. An alternative to Pinaud Clubman. It'll go down to the basement next summer.

This one is pungent! It takes me back to middle school, and putting on waaaay too much of the splash on after gym class. It smells exactly how you would remember Brut to be. It's nostalgia, and old man, in a bottle. My wife doesn't enjoy this one at all. In fact, I doubt anyone really 'loves' this one. It's just one of those scents that brings back memories for everyone, as you have undoubtedly known someone in your past who has worn this. This is a scent for me, and memories, nothing else.

I get an intense jasmine vibe out of its scent. Love the scent, smells like a chic oldman who cares for himself, also it can be interesting on younger men cause its vibe is white floral and super fresh and nice to wear. Stays on my skin for a long time +10 hrs but projects lowly. Overall rate: 8

Smells far more like the OG from the 70s than the current cheaper versions. Amazing Barbershop fragrance and a true classic. Definitely an older man's fragrance. Not for any young pups. Reminds me of the Henry Cooper ads from back in the day. Belting trip down memory lane...👍👍

Not much more I can say that hasn't been said. A timeless fragrance that has character. I don't find it dated, but I can understand why this fragrance brings back nostalgic memories. Classic!

Sweet, powdery, old-school vibe. Very strong and long lasting, 2 sprays and i can easily smell it the next day. A classic 7/10

Purchased a bottle of Brut Special Reserve a few days ago. This is pretty nice. A better Pinaud Clubman, IMO.

This is a misleading fragrance. Well, the labeling is misleading. The fragrance is simply the original Brut "Classic," now called "Special Reserve" instead. The fragrance? Exactly the same as Brut Classic. For some reason they're not selling Brut in its "Classic" packaging anymore, but they've decided to sell it in this packaging instead. Fine by me, but I had my hopes up prior to wearing it, thinking I was in for a richer, more interesting fougere. As it stands, it's simply more of a good thing. Update: I take it all back. This version is a reformulation that doesn't smell as good as Brut Classic. The older version had an ambery musk (the faded ghost of musk ambrette) under a melange of soapy herbal notes, mainly an anisic lavender with light accents of mint and chamomile. It wasn't the Brut of the eighties, or seventies for that matter, but it still felt like Brut. Special Reserve is about 80% of what I've described, but unfortunately the herbal fizz is even more attenuated, barely lasting thirty seconds, before flattening into a sweetened vanillic musk that literally goes nowhere. The freshness suffers, surprisingly enough. And it's just not as complex as Classic. Close enough I guess (it had me fooled enough to buy it), and an interesting ambery musk for sure, but I think I prefer Classic.

spicy woody greeny with a clear hint of geranium. this is the definition of a macho barbershop scent, but I've smelled people with suits wearing this, it's weird for the first time, but it's acceptable and still masculine and powerful. the scent became popular that you can smell it in every cologne used in a barbershop, I'm not wearing that again, not only because it's so old, I love classic, powerhouse masculine fragrances. but I'm not with this mainly because lost it's touch so it's definitely not worth buying anymore, but it was so good back then, nothing can change that fact. 3.0/5

I wear the deodorant, so I decided to try the EDT. Same spicy, musky, clean and soapy smell that is in the deodorant. I do like that smell. Very masculine and vintage. The spice and musk die down after about 30 minutes on my combination skin. Longer on cloth, of course. It dies down into a creamy, soapy, clean type scent and that lasts about 4 hours for me and a little more on the clothing. I like the scent, but I wish it lasted longer or had an EDP version that could be purchased to maybe last longer. Cheers!

The reissued formula smells a lot smoother and a bit more diffusively powdery in the drydown than the version from 10+ years ago, and is essentially a higher concentration of the original High Ridge Brands formula from 2021. In a nutshell, it smells terrific, better than Helen of Troy's now discontinued formula. Brut is alive and well.

Smells like brut champagne. Boring but it works. Unlike other similar fragrances at this price point, this one does not smell cheap.

Bought this the better part of a year ago and parked it in the back of the cabinet because it smelled very, very wrong. Artificial. Plasticky. Just dug it out to revisit it. Now it is recognizable as Brut. Can't say which older versions it matches or surpasses but leaving it alone with some air pumped into the bottle has made a difference.

I thought I would pick this up for pure nostalgic reasons. It's been twenty five years since I smelled this fragrance. I used to borrow my dads Brut as a teenager so this was trip down memory lane. It opens up with lemon, lavender with anise and powder. It has a bit of citrus but it seems a lot weaker than the old vintage. More rougher and powdery and not as smooth and strong as I remember. It's like they have stripped it down and added extra powder, that strong green spicy citrus seems to have vanished. I would call this Brut triple extra lite. They have neutered the scent and cut off it's cojones. The bottle looks fun and macho but don't let it deceive you, it's macho days are far gone. Now it's a Sunday morning after a shower cologne when you want to read your paper in your slippers with a nice cup of coffee. Brut R.I.P I will miss the guy you once were, time to retire once and for all.

Going on memories i was blown away by this stuff after trying it for a couple days, it gave me flashbacks of Christmas with most of us young members of the family receiving it . This definitely smells like the original and perhaps better, a mate and i tried it and could easily smell it the next day so not sure about the bad performance comments, writing this in may 2019. You have to think that nearly everyone on the planet was aware of this scent and for good reason, there has never been a success like it since and never will be, I haven't smelt this for 30 years and can honestly say i think its amazing.The snobs will laugh and take the piss but its all about how it makes you feel and when i put on a fred perry and desert boots and stroll down the street with a few sprays of this i will feel better than those snobs who wear sauvage smelling like a horse's sweat sack.

I don't know what this is even supposed to be. It smells like a cruel joke. This is the minimum wage of fragrances. When you are paid minimum wage it's an employers way of letting you know they'd pay you less if they legally could. This fragrance would smell worse if they could find a way. It's brutal. As a classics fan I'm always trying to avoid the tired and trite "the reformulation hurt me on a personal level" speech but this one is a joke. Honestly I have no idea what this is trying to smell like. Burnt peanut oil and black licorice? The scent of a light bulb getting too hot? Simple Green that hasn't been diluted but a toddler has been farting into the bottle all day? Toothpaste that someone snuck some Russian bologna into the tube and it sat in a warm bathroom for 13 years? Because I can't figure it out. This reformulation hurt me on a personal level.

Rorshach1004's review below is chuckle-worthy and on point. Whatever your frame of reference of the Brut mystique, think of this as "Brut Lite." It is a short-lived dose of the original with the spices toned down a bit, yet it is unmistakably part of the Brut family. To say this is watered down wouldn't be fair: it is more like an "Eau de Brut" that retains the overall spirit of the original, without being quite as in-your-face ... which makes it a bit more flexible. I hadn't smelled or noticed Brut since my Gramps was alive, and he hasn't been with us for nearly 30 years. On a whim I decided to pick this up without trying it. I am pleased with my decision, and not just for nostalgia's sake. Whether on a jaunt to the grocery store or a casual date, Special Reserve will happily accompany you anywhere.

As close as your going to get to vintage faberge formula. Out of all of the brut line up AS / Splash on lotion etc This is the best of the bunch. The opening is quite brash however after 5 minuits its mellows out and leaves you with one of the best Anis Ylang ylang dry downs. Brut does carry a slight stigma due to the old adverts and people well (splashing it all over) but used moderately its fantastic. If you didnt know Dana Canoe was the original idea for brut and Karl Mann was given canoe formula tweaked it slightly and voila brut was born. You get what you pay for with this. I picked this up with Dior Sauvage Cologne trying a hand at barbershop scents and it's got an old time appeal about it. Friend says it smells like root beer, for what it's worth. Bottle is gaudy, atomiser isn't too bad. Sillage and longevity are questionable. I'm glad I have it in my collection to give it some credibility and a nod to the past but I don't find myself wearing it very much, and I seriously doubt I'd pick it up again if the bottle ever runs out. In any case, for the price, it's a no-brainer blind buy. If you end up loving the scent, you'll be set since you won't have to break the bank. Fun fact, the salesman judged me for asking about and procuring this fragrance.

One of the most recognized men's colognes in the world. Sure, it's cheap, and nothing special. But this classic juice in that tacky medallion bottle sparks more memories than almost any other fragrance in my collection. Very masculine, manly and can be worn by men of all ages. How many of us had our first shave and then splashed on some Brut? How many of teens stole a few splashes from Dad's bottle before going out with the guys to look for chicks? How many of you got your own bottle of Brut (perhaps your first cologne) in your Christmas stocking? You can say what you want about this drugstore cologne. But nothing can change the fact of Brut being a classic cologne and a living legend.

Vintage Brut (60's-70's) by Fabergé was a masterpiece, a fougere with a green, critusy top, and a solid woody bottom. It was light and clean but with significant depth, richness, and substance -- pure joy to wear. Alas, all the modern versions are mere outlines, cliff notes of the original. Until now. If you head over to Phoenix Artisan Accroutrements, and look up "Et Tu" (as in "Et Tu, Brute?") you will find a 100% spot-on replica of the rich, vintage stuff. I have the Aftershave-Cologne and the EDP, and they are absolutely wonderful! By the way, I get no benefits from telling you this, except the joy in knowing you can get the good stuff even in 2021! Elvis would be proud!

I hate to use the term “toilet freshener”, but this really does have that kind of opening. I’m briefly and slightly reminded of the stuff I wore as a teenager before it fades out altogether after a total of about 2 hours. Great bottle, but the “splash on” smells much better, and as good as it used to. Pity the splash on isn’t sold in this bottle! Nice for a bit of fun, and a peep back at the ‘70s, but this one will remain as a decoration and occasional squirt. P.s. The term “Special Reserve” is misused and very misleading. It’s also meaningless in this context.

My daughter gave me a bottle of this for Christmas. This new edition of Brut should satisfy those who think Brut has been watered down for the past 40 years. Although it isn't beast mode, this version of Brut has the longevity and projection that it's been missing all these years. I get about 8 hours of moderate projection with 5 sprays. Scent wise, it's Brut - it will bring back memories for those who remember it from the 70s. The drydown is very powdery, giving it an ultra old school feel.

I grabbed a bottle from Amazon for $10. It's ok, but I think I like the Brut Parfums Prestige version slightly better. The Parfums Prestige version seems a bit higher quality and after a few wearings, seems to be a little longer lasting. That being said, I could think of worse ways to spend $10. Cheers.
