Eau Triple Bigarade De Seville

Eau Triple Bigarade de Seville - a stunning, warm orange fragrance which smells like sparkly orange fruit and peel floating on a bed of amber, dried out slightly with the addition of herbal aromatics (the brand mentions mint and rosemary). This is an exceptional fragrance. It reminded me of the promise of early summer and bright sunlight. The orange was fruity but never strayed into OJ or candy territory thanks to the careful balancing with eau de cologne herbals. Longevity was also good for a citrus aromatic at about 5 hours. Would definitely buy this!

Lovely smell but its delicate charms might not be robust enough for our cruel hard world. Effectively an organic, all-natural, super-translucent upmarket remake of Hermes Eau de l'Orange Verte, but so impeccably un-artificial that it ends up just ... sadly ... a whole lot quieter and harder to enjoy. The deliberate choice not to include any chemical fixatives, or sweet-floral accords, or harsher bass notes (oakmoss, musks, patchouli) to eke out the orange means this just doesn't last, delightful and garden-like as it is. No real detectable bitterness, as such, so the real twang of bitter orange peel is a little muted, and not boosted by extrovert petals or spice as in Malle Bigarade Concentree, or Grossmith Hasu no Hana (which in different ways are both loads more like 'built scents', actual PERFUMES, than the impression this leaves behind). For Buly's take on bigarade is definitely bright and beautiful, but also a little weak and weedy. However, smells of innocence, honesty and sunshine - however quietly - so you may be able to forgive it. Definitely light and fresh enough to be tolerable in the most oppressive heatwave (*tried and tested in 40C London 2022), and supremely elegant. I just with it had more oomph. (And beware: the Buly water scents are SO much the fresh real produce, that you have to use them up within a limited timespan - with the citrus ones dying on their feet even faster than others in the range.) Sweet summer flirtation but don't rely on it to warm your heart in cold conditions.
