Eau Triple Lichen d'Ecosse

For me, the opening is of Eau Triple Scottish Lichen is reminiscent of Hermes’ Un Jardin le sur Des Toit - fresh green grass glistening with morning dew, rosemary and a sweet sour rhubarb accent. In the dry down you can sense a delicate layering of galbanum and oaks moss infused in the soft baseline of tonka and patchouli. A gentle yet uplifting fragrance that sits close to the skin and wears like a soft linen shawl. It is described on the website as capturing the “precious essence of a walk in the Highlands”, and I certainly think they nailed the brief. As all Officine Universelle Buly fragrances are alcohol-free water emulsions, the longevity and projection are intimate, which is perfect for the Japanese market where the brand is being heavily targeted. I, however, have no qualms about amping up the intensity, so recommend layering with the oil version, ‘Scottish Lichen’ Huile Antique.

This fragrance contains clary sage and galbanum resin mingle with notes of fern, rosemary and caraway seeds. A shadow of rhubarb hides under the green, with the smell of moss over granite, kissed by the rain, and comes to warm up next to the open fire with patchouli and tonka bean accords. It's a humid woody essence, feels like you just took an autumnal stroll in the misty Scottish hills of pine and birch trees, crimson moors covered in fern and heather, walking upon vast emerald-green lands peppered with wild broom and are entering Balmoral Castle before drinking Cognac with your sons over the fireplace as you have a conversation about who will take over the family trust. Very masculine, this man only wears tailored clothing. The most masculine Buly fragrance, it has one of the strongest sillage and projection, and like all of them this one is very intimate. 10/10

Reminding me very much of great, rich, humus-y soil, Lichen d'Ecosse is: Fresh, soft, deep, green, damp, cool. A tiny bit of sweetness, maybe some almond. Just perfect. I have the "huile antique," not the "eau triple." The oil is very thick and slightly greasy but the fragrance is strong and long lasting.

absolutely spectacular and gorgeous. one of those fragrances i loved at first smell!! definitely hits at the perfect cross between green and aquatic, but also very grounded because of the oakmoss and tonka bean. a beautiful rarity that reminds me of petrichor and damp grass

I love earthy perfumes that dig around in the dirt and come up smelling fresh, and this is pure EARTH and moss and not much else. Dank and dreamy, a coworker once asked if somebody was carrying weed but I think it was just this on my skin -- oops.
