Burberry Brit Gold

i'm loving this! I was just gifted Burberry Brit Red and Gold. both of them are awesome! I ask whyyyyyy Burberryy? why would they discontinue these? I can't even tell you how frustrated I am, where all the best perfumes known to man, are discontinued! I swear it's a ploy. they do it on purpose. It's a conspiracy! lol. if it's too good, too exclusive, too different--they will whip it right off the shelves quicker than you can ever even try it! Grrrr Anyway, this is much nicer than the original Brit IMO. But not better than Red. But somehow the original still stays more favored by me. Can't say why. Probably because it's cheap and I don't feel bad spraying it all the time and wearing it a lot. This one I hoard and salvage... if you've seen the price, you'd understand why. I reserve for special occasions. It definitely seems "gold." that's a perfect name for it. Like others have said, I smell vanilla and incense! I wouldn't say it's balsamic though. I didn't get that at all. In fact, I almost smell honey in the vanilla. It's weird, as it's not a note. It starts out quite soapy, which I think is the Neroli very sharply with the benzoin. I can't imagine how that would create honey, but who knows. also very woodsy. It's definitely a soft, comfort scent. Quite edgy for Burberry. Gold ventures more on the dangerous side, beyond the borders of "where the light touches," lol. Brit is the safe one in the bunch, more of a Pride Rock perfume. I wear this perfume to hula hoop nights! I do see people voted it as having very long staying power. It has heavy projection, but the scents lasting effect is fickle. I also love the bottle much more than the original. I'll be really sad when I run out of this. As much as I love it, I don't think i'd repurchase. It's too expensive--and I'd rather spend that extra money on Brit Red. In any case, still quite nice--and you can get this same scent cheap in perfume oil home made on eBay. smells just like it! I will say, that I can't think of any perfumes that smell similar to this--so it's definitely unique, something you'll miss if you really like it. If you are a fan of vanilla woody scents, this is a like for you--

I have a cruelty free imitation oil of Burberry Brit gold. I have never laid my nose upon the original scent. I adore my imitation of it! It is so warm,creamy, yet gentle green. To me,all perfumes/colognes are unisex. It is really about each individual's perception. In my perception,all scents are open to anyone. The label does not matter to me. No perfume/cologne has a set gender to me. I get a lot of gorgeous powder from this scent! There is definitely an iris bloom note in here. You cannot mistake that precious iris powder! :0) I have been noticing myself being drawn to a certain "afterhshave accord",or note. I love this earthy/woody note mixing in harmony with an alluring perfumey sort of vanilla cream I adore. (The benzoin in Gold can give a sweet impression kind of like vanilla) I get both of these notes working in tandem in my Burberry Brit Gold imitation (The cream sweet of benzoin,which also gives the green impression too.Makes it seem like 2 notes in 1!) This really makes me weak in the knees! This perfume also gives a strong incense smoke feeling too,very sultry. I have a little trick I have been doing with this. I have a bottle of real benzoin styrax that is held in alcohol. I put some of the styrax liquid in my palms,and let it soak in a bit. I put some of my Burberry Brit Gold on my arm. I then kind of mix the two together (then I wash the remaining styrax liquid off my hands really well). It is truly intoxicating! It is warm,sweet,caramel deeply beneath the richest resins,green tones,woodsy beautiful! **Just be careful putting the same thing on your own skin. Even things from our beautiful earth can be poisonous to us. Plus the added alcohol in my bottle would be toxic as well. I only put the tiniest drop of the styrax directly on my skin,rub into my arm,then rinse it completely off my hands. Please be careful putting this resin oil on your hands/skin. Enjoy! :0)

I started to wear Brit Gold back in 2005 when it was released. At the time, it was the first "heavy" perfume I'd ever worn and it felt quite daring. I loved wearing it in the fall and winter. I'd missed and craved it for years after I used up my bottle and it was no longer available, so I finally treated myself to a bottle purchased on eBay. Mind you, I spent 4x what I purchased it for when it was available retail, but I had to have it. And I'm so glad I did. There isn't another perfume quite like it. I have never liked another Burberry perfume besides this one. It's so different than any other Burberry I've sniffed and has beautifully stood the test of time. It’s just as compelling and timeless in 2025 as when it was released twenty years ago. Brit Gold smells like a high-end niche fragrance and evokes the ideal mix of feeling comforted and sexy while wearing it. Plus it lasts forever and creates the most delicious scent bubble. Quite simply, it is amber-vanilla-woody-musk perfection.

I wish this was not a limited edition! It's so hard to get your hands on, but I love it so much that I don't care about paying a high price for it. It is such a dark and deep, smooth musky vanilla scent with a ton of amber and a tiny bit of that creamy magnolia-floweriness. A very intensive, oriental scent. Perfumes like this always make me calm, I don't know why! They remind me of incense and meditation, something which is really intriguing and captivating. For me it has nothing in common with the original Brit (which I love, too). Super long-lasting, but don't you apply too much. It can be overwhelming. ;)

I LOVE IT , I would love to get a bottle ! iam surprised there is no iris... i smell it some where at the heart creating an overall sweet powdery effect, then the warm , warm , warm and hint of warmth along the heart and dray down , its absolutely the SANDALWOOD ..amazing , more than amazing some one here mentioned it remind her/him of Agent Provocateur maitress ! I AGREE , totally agree with it , the dry down is almost the same as maitress that i adore , please if any one interested in swap i would be very generous to get this one !

I used to wear this quite often about 11 years ago and loved it. It's a beautiful spicy winter scent that projects warmth and powdery florals mixed with amber- I always associated this scent with the holidays and I just forgot how much I loved it until I purchased Shaghaf Oud by Swiss Arabian. It's almost an exact dupe, just a little lighter-but barely. I'm glad I bought my Swiss Arabian tho- seeing how much a bottle of this is going for now LOL My accidental replica was only around 50 bux.

I received this from a client. He meant to by the original but got me this. When I sprayed it I was disgusted. It was waaaay to musky and I felt it lacked the charm of the original. The dry down was another story. It was beautiful, I loved it and being the perfume snob that I am, I loved the fact not everyone had this version. I have gone threw at least 3bottles. Since it's discontinued, I use it sparingly and only on special occasions in the fall/ winter.

If I had to throw out all of my fragrance and only keep one, this would be it. Amber, vanilla, sandalwood...so comforting and cozy. It's sexy and warm, with great staying power. I covet the half bottle I have left (which I personally purchased in 2006). I wear it once a week in fall/winter only. I really wish Burberry would resurrect this one! I need more in my life and it's so difficult to find!

Love this one! It ́s a very oriental and heavy scent suitable for winter. In winter it will leave a warm and cozy feeling on your skin. It ́s sweet too but in an oriental way. It reminds me of the harems in the middle east. It ́s a pity that burberry has discontinued this one. You can also mixes this one with burberry red than you will have a very unique but delicious new scent!

First of all I have never ever experienced such longevity, wow 8 hours and I'm still smelling of it. Ok It's definitely a winter perfume and probably more a going out one. It's totally unisex on me, in fact its more male on me then female, however, I find it sexy, morning after smell, a bit dirty. I think men would like it on a woman. Love it. Shame its not around anymore

Benzoin and amber rule this fragrance; the top was an alcohol mess but quickly toned into an almost nonexistent ambery myrrh. This fragrance gets stronger and deeper as it dries down. There's myrrh lending a cola incense note, benzoin resins, amber, a hint of floral and musk. It is lovely and creamy from the sandalwood. A skin scent on me. Very close and warm.

The olfactory "picture" that pops into my mind is a fashionable lady's face powder spilled in the bottom of her vintage leather Burberry bag. The vanilla is not creamy to me; it is spicy and powdery. This is more in the same vein of Brit Red rather than the original; It's essentially Brit Red without the rhubarb. One of the very few floral orientals I adore.

bought that today at a bargains shop, it was so cheap and the bottle so golden than I couldnt help myself,this is a quite nice warm smell than easily could be unisex,sweet and frutal at the same time, quite good, but, again, best thing is the bottle... UPDATED Love it, wish I could get more bottles of this---

I have had it for a while and find it a very luxurious fragrance. I don't use it very often though because it is more of a special occasion perfume...too formal for casual wear. Awlays get a lot of compliments when wearing it. This is my favourite Burberry and the the only one i consider a true masterpiece.

How much I miss this one!Seductive, yet sophisticated, with enormous sillage and longeavity, yet not overpowering, mysterious with a tender drydown. Received so many compliments from both men and women when I wore that. I would really appreciate a comeback! Please Burberry!

One of my favorite. Brit Gold is a very feminine fragrance, full of mystery and seduction. And it has very good staying power.

christmas smell in a bottle, even better for new years eve

I have to update this review because for years, I've been saying that Brit Gold wasn't all that great. Today I was decanting a sample for someone and got a bit of my hand. Ten minutes later I was thinking what is that beautiful smell? All amber and vanilla and a tiny bit of wood? It's Brit Gold. Before I found Gold to be very heavy, and almost incense-like. I like big, heavy orientals and I found Brit Gole to be overpowering. Maybe I just needed clear the spray tube, but I really like it now. It's still a heavy dose of sandalwood, but the amber and vanilla make this lovely. For years, I've been thinking that this was an unworthy partner to the exceptional, Brit Red. I stand corrected, Brit Gold is different and heavier but lovely.

Yummy smelling a bit like a coffee affogato. (strong coffee and vanilla icecream together, mmmm). I don't know a whole lot about what makes it smell that way. I recommend it for cold weather use because it is quite a strong warm scent. If I spray it on my neck is probably a bit overpowering at first, especially if it gets on my collar, but when wearing it on the wrists I find it quite pleasant and it has a pretty good staying power. Use sparingly.

Although this one has Burberry's usual "propper", politically correct and conservative style - in my opinion- this one is the only one I like (with the classical burberry as second) from this House. It is creamy, subtle charming and a little bit sensual. Not a sex bomb, but nice and different. Not for the usual fans of Burberry.
