Champagne and cinnabon by candlelight at a little bistro table, sitting with the love of my life listening to Norah Jones on a rainy spring evening. This is the first evening I wore Burberry Goddess and it describes exactly how this fragrance makes me feel. Romantic, sensual, elegant, soulful. It is comforting, extraordonary yet humble, and perfectly balanced. I feel like a goddess when I wear this ethereal perfume. Since that first night of wearing it, I have been finding it almost impossible to convince myself to wear any other perfume. I had been searching for that perfect vanilla fragrance for some time - a fragrance that accurately represents real vanilla, not the synthetic, plastic or overtly sweet version. I had not found it until Burberry Goddess. It is now the center jewel in my perfume crown. After having been diappointed by blind buys based on hyped up reviews, I was weary to buy a fragrance purely based on reviews. I was intrigued by just how many positive reviews this was getting and I had high hopes, but I maintained my cool. I did my reasearch and went to the fragrance shop and tried 7 different fragrances, some brand new, others very popular. Several were compared to Burberry Goddess. I sprayed each on a test strip. Goddess was the only one I found worthy of spraying on my skin for a test. At first sniff, it was beautiful, but I was not prepared for how much I would fall in love with it. After wearing it for a few hours, I realised this fragrance was only going to get better with time for me. I then decided to purchase the only bottle available- 50ml. I know I will continue to repurchase refills. For some time I have been working on narrowing down my perfume collection to those that I really love and will continue to purchase. This perfume is at the very top of that list and is the only vanilla centered fragrance on that list. Wikiparfum describes it as Ambery Oriental Gourmand, Amber Crisp Citrus. I would say that is quite accurate.This is more oriental in nature and not a strong edible gourmand to me. It is not a cloying or overtly sickeningly sweet perfume. The perfume is of high quality and the vanilla is well balanced by the other notes. There are also additional notes that are listed on other sites and artcles that I do definitely detect in this perfume, although they are not listed on Fragrantica. This perfume opens with a zesty bergamot, an ever so delicate cozy lavender and a warm vanilla. I do detect a dusting of cacao. There is also a note of shiso leaves which lends a hint of spice. Indeed there are three different types of vanilla here that do form part of the perfume pyramid that does change as it wears. It has charachter and is not linear or basic. It has depth and wears differently depending on the weather or mood. I find this to be a reliable yet adaptable fragrance that can be worn for any occassion, any time of year, or by any age group. This is very feminine and not masculine at all to me. It is accurately Goddess. It is warm, soft and angelic. The perfumer Amandine Clerc-Marie has done a superb job and has given us something so special. This perfume has not been done before and stands uniquely on its own. I have tried it alongside others this has been compared to, but it is totally different. This perfume is certainly based on vanilla, but this is not like anything else in the perfume world. Natural vanilla is the second most expensive spice after saffron. Here, the vanilla caviar is directly from the vanilla pod, and this is the very expensive vanilla that is entirely processed by hand. There is an incredible quality to the vanilla in this perfume. It is natural and not synthetic vanilla. The synthetic version is what is found in most desserts and perfumes. This is not that. This perfume does justice and honour to vanilla. The vanilla pod comes from a very special tropical orchid that originated in Mexico and was honoured by the Totonac and Aztecs 900 years ago. In the early 1500s, the Spanish got it from them and brought it to Europe and then France brought it to the African islands in the Indian ocean. However the vanilla bean could not be reproduced without the bee from Mexico. A young African boy discovered that it could be hand pollinated. To this day, most of the natural vanilla comes from the African islands as a result of the time consuming process of hand pollination. A lot of love and care goes into natural vanilla production. I get a real sense of that in this perfume. It honours the sacred vanilla orchid. This perfume utilises natural vanilla from Africa and captures it into perfume oil through a more sustainable technique (Firgood). The final product is fittingly made in Spain, where vanilla was first brought to Europe. Everything about this perfume, from the scent to the bottle, box, and advertising has meaning and is perfectly executed. The gold design on the box represents the weatherproof garbardine fabric first made by Burberry in 1888. The bottle is beautifully crafted, with solid glass and a golden goddess medallion and cap, reminicent of classic perfume bottles. I love that it is both vegan and refillable. Responsibility matters to me. The golden medalion is like an angelic halo for the ethereal liquid. The atomiser is of high quality and distrubutes the golden liquid through a wide, soft spray. The liquid is an Eau de Parfum and is slighly oily due to the high content of natural perfume oils. This makes it last very long on my skin. As a skin scent, it lasts 8 hours or more. It stays on my watch strap for days. As with many natural perfume oils, it has only moderate projection. I get about 4 hours of arm length projection before it gets closer to the skin, but I still get whiffs of it for more than 8 hours. It creates an aura of scent that surrounds me in soft comforting bliss. Those nearby also love it and want to get closer. The stunning perfume advertisement accurately captures this perfume. It is natural and effortlessly beautiful. In a time where so many women are divided, this perfume is unifying and compassionate. I have found so many of the You Tube reviews on this fragrance heartwarming. Women want to share the gift and magic of it with one another and in this, a wonderful sisterhood has been unveiled. We stand together as the beautiful lionesses that we are. Together, in care for eachother, we thrive. The advertisement has particular meaning for me. I am a Leo born in August and live in South Africa where the advertisement was filmed. It captures the depth and soul of the lioness and the continent from where the vanilla in this perfume originates. Overall this perfume deserves all the praise that it is getting. I love it!! It is a gift that keeps on giving and will stand the test of time as a new classic. 10/10. Thank you Burberry for this divine creation!

I wonder what has messed up everyone’s sense of smell? Covid? Bad diets? Staring at screens? This smells nothing like any mens scent or aftershave scent. Absolutely nothing. If you think this smells masculine, you must have only spent time around men who wear women’s perfumes in your life. Or you haven’t spent time around many men at all. This is a girly vanilla bomb. It’s one of the biggest vanilla overdose girly scents imaginable. Yes it has a soft clean laundry-style lavender note, that dances gently under a monsoon cloud of sweet strong vanilla. Pretty straightforward, utterly gorgeous. It was love at first sniff. Immediately ran to buy a full bottle. I’m in my 30s and honestly paused for a moment to wonder if it was too young and girly for me as it reminded me of an aromatherapy scent I used as a tween. Then I decided I don’t care, I wear what I want. Absolutely love this one. Recommend it to everyone. Such a mass pleasing lovely scent. Burberry scents of the past never appealed to me and made me smell like a drunk who bathed in gin. So glad they ditched the “drunk waspy housewife” profile they seemed to be geared toward and are going for more “pretty” and “gourmand” leaning scents. Hopefully they don’t discontinue this gem due to the negative reviews from the young girls who seem to hate every perfume unless it’s straight gourmand vanilla without a hint of anything else. Judging by years of reading thousands of reviews, it seems they all HATE all flowers, they think they all smell “like grandma,” they hate woods and think woods smell like pickles, they hate spices and think they smell like men. They like vanilla, marshmallows, cupcakes, and sometimes caramel but I’ve recently seen some younger girls tear apart a “caramel” scent because it “smelled like burnt sugar.” Lol I don’t even know where to begin... How boring not must be to have such simple basic tastes and to be so clueless you don’t even know what real caramel is. Ignore the reviews from the tasteless and the basic. This is a simple, lovely, GORGEOUS perfume and anyone who isn’t extremely picky to the point they’re insufferable will love it, if they love vanilla and lavender, of course. Side note: almost immediately I recognized this scent from 20+ years ago from the long discontinued/reformulated beyond recognition late 90’s version of BBWs Tranquil Sleep. The old spray bottle with the little glass gems inside. BBW still makes a version of it but it hasn’t smelled remotely close or performed a fraction as well in the past 15+ years, the magic is long gone from that one. This scent will scratch that itch if you’re longing for the original Tranquil Sleep aroma.

Sweet, vanilla, lavender, fresh spicy, cacao, feminine, sensual, seductive, chic, classy, elegant, modern, sophisticated, charming, whimsical, divine, enchanting, dreamy, delightful, alluring, tempting, addictive, inviting, soothing, calming, cozy, comforting On me this opens with aromatic and soothing lavender, fresh spicy ginger, and just a touch of sweet vanilla and cacao. The dry down is so beautiful and really rounds out the scent. It smooths out any sharpness from the ginger and lavender with creamy vanilla caviar and vanilla absolute. This isn’t overly sweet, and definitely not a full on gourmand. More like a fresh and clean yet warm and cozy fresh spicy lavender vanilla. Goddess is such a gorgeous fragrance, and one of my top favorites in my whole collection! This is definitely full bottle worthy as well as an excellent choice for a signature scent! At this point Goddess is starting to become a modern classic! A beautiful vanilla that leans slightly gourmand, yet isn’t overly sweet. I’ve had and loved Goddess for a couple of years now, but I just got Selena Gomez Rare, and wow is it ever close to Goddess! It has a very similar blend of vanilla, ginger, and cacao. It does have a slightly spicier and nutty opening with additional pink pepper and pistachio accords as well as having an additional caramel note. The dry downs are also similar, except for with Goddess it leans more creamy vanilla, while Rare has a more woody dry down with the additional sandalwood, tonka, and musk in its base, and comes off just very slightly sweeter. Overall, I’d say they’re at the very least 85% the same scent. I heard they were extremely similar, so after testing out Rare for a few days after getting it I finally sprayed Goddess again and was truly shocked. As for the “reminds me” section, I do think Goddess shares similarities with BBW Vanilla Ease, Moonlit Goddess, Guerlain Mon Guerlain, YSL Libre Vanilla Couture, and Goddess Intense. I’m a huge vanilla and gourmand fan, so for reference some of my favorites include Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow, Vanilla 28, The Wedding Silk Santal, Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar, Yum Pistachio Gelato, GdT Celeste, Bianco Latte, Kilian LDBS, Princess, PdM Oriana, Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid, The 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods, YSL Black Opium Le Parfum, D&G The One Desire, Ellis Brooklyn Vanilla Salt, Queen’s Caramel, Marshmallows, Phlur Heavy Cream, Vanilla Nectar, SDJ Summer è Amor, 62, 39, VS Vanilla Lace, Glitter Hustle, BBW Beach Nights, Boardwalk Marshmallow Clouds, Whipped Honey & Vanilla, Fireside Flurries

This is absolutely amazing for the price and availability. My simple Burberry Goddess puts several niche/luxury samples I have to shame, considering that the niche/luxury houses charge 2x-5x more. This is similar to my Vanilla fragrance oil by Nemat, but with a more 'mature' take. Lavender comes out strong along with the vanillas, but then softens down after about 1-2 hours. In the top notes I'm also getting a slight whiff of either bergamot or cardamom, which aren't listed here. There's undoubtedly a cool spice note (not ginger, which tends to be more warming) in the top notes somewhere. I cook with raw whole spices very frequently and there's some cool tones coming out here. This is what helps balance the vanillas so well and prevents the vanillas from feeling cheap or overly sweet or "boring". The vanillas are absolutely exquisite and lasted about 4-6 hours. I did 3 sprays which was initially almost too strong, but after 1-2 hours it really tones down a lot. So if you want to project stronger, do more than 3 sprays. It does not hold up well in summer heat (85-100 F) and humidity, and quickly fades away in it. For this reason, this is an excellent indoor/office fragrance, or Fall to early (cold) Spring fragrance. I have a large bottle of it primarily for indoor use. This is a very inoffensive, but yet rich fragrance that projects within half an arms reach for the first 2-4 hours. After 4 hours it projects less. If you want to wear something "nice" indoors but are unsure what to wear, go with Burberry Goddess, you won't be disappointed.

What kind of witchcraft is this? As a roses and peonies kind of person, I used to yearn for vanilla scents but they always felt nauseating and claustrophobic to me. Not this one, though. This feels soft and surprisingly comfy to me, like my favourite pjs on a cold winter’s day. I believe the correct description is ‘well-rounded’. When I first bought it, it had the same essence as most generic, cheap perfumes sold at supermarkets. If you read Eddie Bulliqi’s review, he captures the first impression perfectly (and quite unfavourably). This, at the price point, combined with the fact that it lasted less than an hour miffed me and I almost got rid of it. But then I remembered vanilla likes to macerate and left it alone for a few days. Sure enough, it darkened and transformed into a soft and sweet vanilla juice with just a tiny dash of ginger! Every once in a while, the cacao says a fleeting hello. One of those perfumes that does not disappoint from top through dry down. The cooler the weather, the better it behaves. Only downside is that it needs at least 6 sprays to come through. It takes much more easily to cloth than skin. Somehow, I cannot stop wearing it, and it gets better each time! If enemies to lovers were a perfume story, this would be mine. A few days ago, I discovered that the perfumer behind Goddess is the same as the nose behind Chloe EDP, which is another clean “simple” scent that disappears quickly but that I am somehow absolutely addicted to. Witchcraft!
