High Tea

This is a really tricky one to describe - it's slightly citrusy, floral, green & exceptionally strong when first sprayed. Almost overwhelmingly so actually. The bergamot is instantly recognisable, this is the first note when sprayed, mixed with some green-coloured florals and an overarching sense of depth. If I smelt the florals as a colour, they'd be shades of light green. It doesn't give me the bright, sunny vibe of yellows such as mimosa, the iconic smell of reds like roses, the cleanness of whites like jasmine or tuberose, the sweetness of pinks like lilies or the irisy feeling of purples. Yet, there is definitely a floral quality. Perhaps the mate note is preventing it from ever becoming sweet, whilst the lavender prevents the greenness from ever feeling harsh or astringent. The drydown is where I begin to really love this fragrance. The citrusy twang dies down and more of the actual lavender smell is apparent, with some spicy depths. Not like any distinguishable spice note like cloves or cinnamon and absolutely nothing like a church smell which is often associated with the use of incense, but rather like an earthy, stony depth to the florals. Further on in the drydown, a sense of warmth and wholeness is felt - this must be the tonka bean. I don't get a vanillic vibe, or even anything remotely sweet, but more of a bringing together of all those rich florals and greenery into a cohesive whole. Further on in the drydown, and the smell which is ultimately left on clothing (for absolutely days!) is almost metallic, and yet airy. This is perhaps the most difficult part of the whole fragrance to describe. A clean, breezy metallic smell - still carrying hints of florals, but almost like an entirely new scent altogether. It takes about 3 hours for the fragrance to get to this point for me. Up until then it projects like absolute crazy on my skin. This is not your usual light floral, there are not-so-hidden depths here which give the perfume some major oomph! Perhaps this is the ambroxan providing some lift and adding a thick roundness to the florals? I'm not sure. By simply glazing over the notes, one would not expect this to be such a densely concentrated concoction. Overall performance on my skin: Amazing projection & a lusciously rich floral sillage for the first 3 hours, before transitioning into the metallic, airy elements, and a more gentle projection for the next 4-5 hours. It then settles as a skin scent for the remaining time - I've never stayed awake long enough after applying to see exactly how long it lasts, but after multiple times spraying at 8am, I can still detect it before my evening shower, and then very very faintly in the following couple hours before bed. I sprayed this on a scarf around wintertime, and it held that aforementioned metallicy, airy, slightly floral scent until I next picked up that scarf over a week later. I actually took it back with me to Taiwan (anyone who has been knows here has no climate for scarfs), just so I could continue smelling it and remind myself of the fantastic few weeks I spent back at home during Christmas time. The versatilty of this perfume is also rather wonderful. The fresh, floral, green elements of it make it perfectly fine for during the day, yet its richness of body also makes it fine for evening wear. Spring, summer, autumn, winter - I don't see how this would be out of place in any of the seasons. If I had to choose, I see myself wearing this most often in the daytime, during the spring, summer (on not so hot days) and early autumn. But this is mainly because I'd rather rock something sweeter during the evenings and through the winter months. Really high praise for this - I know it's tough to come buy, and rather off-puttingly expensive, but if you get a chance to get your nose on it, I thoroughly recommend that you do so.

I bought this fragrance as a blind-buy because a) I love Burberry fragrances, and b) I love tea scents. I was initially a bit taken aback - the first few sprays were quite floral, and not what I expected. Still a nice scent, but not quite what I wanted, or was expecting. I tried it a couple more times, then got distracted with other scents. Almost a year later, I came back - mostly with an initiative to use scents I had purchased, but have not quite used. And...the smell is amazing. It smells like you've opened a box of tea and the loose leaf wafts out. Like you're in a cafe sipping piping hot tea that's come your way. Camomile. Bergamot. Lavender. Earl grey. Which one did you choose? This perfume has it all - wafting up separately, then together. I'm in love. This is my signature scent now. Longevity is much better on clothing for me, and it lasted about 3-4 hours. It is an extrait, so I generally do 2 spritzes, though silage is not overwhelming at all. It would be my preference not to choose this as a summer scent, but it's light enough that I think you could pull it off. I'll have to see what the summer holds.

High Tea was a blind-buy that I couldn't resist. Having read the reviews beforehand, and smelling it now, I have to agree with reviewers who say that they are not reminded of tea. Certainly not High Tea in particular. There is nothing remotely foodie about it--no baked goods, no actual black tea, nothing milky or sweet. Instead I smell a heart of mate--a plant that isn't even in the tea family, and some citrus. I would call this an herbal musk. It's so musky it's like someone added herbs to Bill Blass Nude. Clary sage provides a noticeable bitterness. Maybe the intention was to mimic the bitter tannins of black tea? IDK, but I am getting a holistic apothecary with dried herbs, not a British tea room. The name is very misleading, but luckily I ended up loving the fragrance for what it actually is--a musky, fresh, herbal perfume. If it's high tea you seek, I would recommend something like Lost Alice or Russian Tea by Masque Milano over this. If you seek jasmine tea, One Day's offering is amazing. But if herbal tea strikes your fancy, this is perfect. Two sprays last well on me for 5-6 hours. Update: I've been wearing this regularly on my California walks in the summer evening heat. It's still 82°F at 8pm. Afternoons hover around 100°F. The grasses are totally dry, and there are aromatic plants literally everywhere--mugwort, sages, flowering mimosa. This perfume blends right in! I love it for that, but still, British "high tea" it definitely is not.

I first smelled it in Selfridges a few weeks ago, it smelled so sophisticated and smooth, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Yesterday I finally bought it but now that I sprayed and smelled it on my hand it smells different to me. In the store it was warmer, more aromatic and smooth; and now it smells much fresher and "cleaner", especially in the first 5-10 minutes after spraying, which is disappointing. Although as it dries down I can feel the aroma becoming richer and the tea note is now not too fresh like in the start, it started blending beautifully with the tonka and neroli. Now it's smooth and rich like it was in the store, although it is still much fresher. Overall it is a beautiful smooth fragrance that captures the tea note beautifully, it reminds me of fall, dried herbs and leaves, and sadly wet wipes. Nevertheless I like it, and think its sophisticated and beautiful, and see myself wearing it in most of the times of the year.

Not so much a tea, but the air above it—a breath of warmth rising from porcelain, curling into the air in soft, translucent ribbons. It speaks in the language of steam, not leaves—an impression of tea rather than its tangible weight. There is no bitterness, no tannic bite curling against the tongue, no brisk snap of green or black. Instead, it is the soft exhale of warmth from a cup held between palms, tea steeped not in water but in memory, in soothing sensation. A rounded, almost creamy whisper, the ghost of something once brewed but now softened into the ether. A scent evoking the lingering heat of a kettle long after the water has been poured.

Surprisingly this has no tea at all but smells like tea on the first spray with citrus notes combined with powdery floral notes. This projection is a bit too powdery in the first hour and may lean to the feminine side rather than be unisex which needs more citrus or lavender scents. If you want to blind-buy, this is a safe and friendly scent, very welcoming, calm, and clean. This is not the new innovative scent but creative enough to buy because there is no "tea" at all but smells like tea with powdery floral/clean and well-blended. 8.5/10

I would describe this scent as not actually tea-forward but rather herbacious and a tadbit earthy while still being elegant/ quietly sophisticated. This is more like smelling ingredients that go into tea- bergamot, lavender, chamomile,mate, or ingredients used in food served at an afternoon tea, reminiscent of an activity/place. For me, on skin it is a bit more like a summer herb garden with the presence of the sage and lavender. I would say if you are interested in an earthy floral that can be unisex with a whisper an amber/ incense in the dry down, you may enjoy this.It's an interesting and pleasant scent but not sure I would purchase a full bottle, TBD.

The dry-down is better than the opening — it clearly has a tea note, accompanied by chamomile. The opening feels a bit stuffy — not aquatic, but it has that same kind of dull, heavy feeling. Overall, the texture feels quite synthetic.

Smells great on the tester paper but performed poorly on my skin. I sprayed the perfume on all the strategic places but still The scent did not last more than 10 minutes... very disappointed.

I’ve got this fragrance for almost 2 years now. I can definitely say that this fragrance is more on the feminine side. To my nose, tea is not the main player as it smell too floral to me. The longevity is beyond my expectation. On my skin, it lasts almost the whole day with the 2-3 hours of projection. Quite impressive for a tea/floral fragrance. It opens up fresh sweet/tart tea-like smell with a hint of lavender and then gradually becomes more and more floral in the dry down. I’d recommend if you are looking for something not too sweet and also fresh this one might be for you because the longevity is great.

impulse bought this @ the airport today no regrets! a refreshing and well blended tea perfume i was very influenced to by this before testing it because i saw two of my favorite notes: lavender and chamomile. i feel like these two notes are very luxurious smelling and when done right, really stand out and make for a unique scent! i’m a sucker for aromatics. this is soapy, floral and tea all in one perfume. projection is intimate (smelled only when up close) and i'm still unsure on longevity, but the scent is nice and fresh & this is just a good ole reliable tea perfume - nice for the warm days def a freshie

(update / re-review after sitting w this perfume for a month or two months.. lost count) this is a tea infused soap bar initially i wasn’t very big on this perfume. it grew so much on me though. it’s the biggest dent i have in my collection, while also being the most recent. i’ve barely had this but used it so much already. i can’t stop using this. it’s so reliable and is very much a dumb reach
