Baciami Ancora

I have and love Baciami and I hate to say it .... but I think I might actually like this version even more! Baciami: I adore this scent. She’s original, unique and special because there isn’t another scent that smells remotely like her. She’s flirty, sexy, fun and carefree. Best suited to spring and summer, although I do find it can be a little nauseating at times due to the sickly sweetness. Baciami Ancora: She’s the sexier older sister. It’s more grown up and easier to wear. You can tell this is a relation of Baciami. She still retains the beauty of the original, but the sweetness of the Gardenia has been toned down and the amber amped up. It’s warm, sensual, intoxicating and addictive. Best suited to autumn and winter. Comparing them side by side, both are long lasting but Baciami Ancora really stands out between the two. If you enjoy scents like Armani’s Rouge Malachite, Christian Louboutin’s Lys Fetiche or Memo Paris Cap Camarat I think you will love this! Likewise if you love this, those are scents you should absolutely check out. Do you need both? Well of course not but ..... I plan to have and keep both in my collection. I think they are different enough to justify it. Currently Baciami Ancora is only available in 100ml bottles exclusively at Harrods, and the price is utterly ridiculous! If this had been available in a 50ml version, or even in line with the price of the original for 100ml, I would have bought this immediately! For now I will just have to save up for it, or wait for a future sale.

I literally gasped when my bottle arrived and sprayed, it smells divine. Now firstly I have to admit - it’s incredibly similar to the original, so there’s definitely no need to own both. That said, this version is sweeter, much more vanilla-forward, and significantly heavier on the amber, which gives it a denser, creamier feel on the skin. It’s absolutely stunning. It’s also much better blended. In the original, I always felt the amber accord lingered somewhat separately from the rest of the composition. Here, everything feels smoother and more cohesive, and the gardenia is far less distinguishable as an individual note - it’s quite shy in here. I will say, and perhaps this is because my original bottle has had time to macerate, that Ancora doesn’t project quite as well and lasts a little less on my skin. I get around 7 hours of wear compared to the original which lasts all day for me. However, this one is noticeably louder during the first few hours, creating a stronger initial presence. The price is admittedly insane, but I honestly think it’s worth it. It simply smells more expensive, and I personally prefer the reduced emphasis on the gardenia. There’s something so addictive about this - I caaaant put it down and already have made a massive dent in my bottle!

This is the single most disappointing flanker release I have ever experienced. A waste of money with a ridiculous price tag. The OG smells more balanced and has excellent longevity and projection. Ancora smells 99% similar with a slight bit more vanilla and no projection. I love Baciami OG but this released really turned me off from the brand. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE HYPE. Grab the OG, it’s the clear winner.

First Impressions: This is beautiful. Doing a side by side comparison with OG Baciami - this has a little more sweetness from fruits (not listed but it's there). And slightly more ambery. Where OG comes off more white floral, this adds more to the white florals. It's a love for sure and an easy blind buy if you love the original and would like something similar but a little fruitier. With that said. If you like this DNA and want a banger that is even better than this (yes I am for real) then go over to DAMASK HAUS website and pick up Miss Je Ne Sais Quoi. They are an Indie brand making fantastic quality fragrances. You won't be disappointed.

I really wish brands would stop with the extrait/parfum cash grabs. Instead of meaningfully increasing the oil concentration or adding depth, they just slap on a heavy synthetic base and charge more for it. It is so obvious in this flanker. The EDP is more balanced with the white florals, and vanilla, and honestly projects better too. This Ancora version feels like it was made to seem “richer” on paper, but on skin it just turns heavier with little to no projection.

I’m rolling the dice... just blind bought off Harrods website. I’ve never even smelled the original but I do love me some white florals and vanilla. Waiting for it to arrive and hoping my gamble pays off, otherwise I’ll be selling FB on Mercari.
